Wot a waste of money this place is worst fish and chips I’ve had not value for money at all. This pic is ment to me large cod and chips I call this a mini. Won’t go ere again

Hungry from long day at work, ordered a half pounder with everything on it (just like the delicious one on the picture behind the counter). What I got was a squished slightly dry bun with two tasteless burgers that fell to bits, there was no salad at all. Just a tiny ( about a third of the size of the burger) wafer thin piece of cheese. I was very hungry, but still threw half the burger away because it was rubbish. Last ever visit.

I’ve been an occasional regular at Kibbys for about 20 years and was surprised to see some of the reviews on here. However this evening I bought some fish and chips and when I arrived home I couldn’t believe how small the portion of fish was, a large fish finger would be a good description - very disappointing

Team friendly. Fast and tasty. Although I have paid £5.60 ang got kind of kids chips portion which is considered as "regular" and 3 chicken strips. In My opinion its expensive for portion you get.

We pre-ordered by phone for pick up and the service was spot on with very fresh and tasty cod, plaice and chips. Lovely crispy batter and well browned chips and a perfectly sized portion. Really enjoyed our first fish and chips of 2021, we will be back!

I asked for a LARGE FISH AND LARGE CHIPS from Kibby in Bulwark Chepstow.I can honestly say they were the worst fish and chips I have ever had the displeasure of buying.The "LARGE FISH" WAS SMALLER THAN 3 FISHCAKES! THE CHIPS HAD A LOT OF BLACK BITS IN, THEY WERE ALMOST RAW AND THE ENTIRE MEAL WAS STONE COLD. This cost me £8+ It went into the bin!!!Today I phoned up to complain and halfway through the conversation the person who professed to be the manager began talking to one of the staff and started giggling as if to imply they had got another "MOANER" on the line.I told her who I was and that I am titled person which she didn't believe.I don't expect any special treatment, just value for money of which this was not.All I asked for was some respect and perhaps some form of refund.After I had told her I had heard her giggling on the line she just hung up.If I were to give her a star rating it would be Minus 5.We will never buy food from them again. I ordered a Chinese takeaway after throwing the fish and chips out which was delivered to my door which was delicious!!my name is Lord Draper and I live locally to Cheptow on our farm!If you want to get ripped off go to Kibby. You have been warned!!

Cant believe that I paid £7 for what could only be described as a child portion. Have used this chip shop for years. Never again though.

been eating fish&chips for 75 years , this serving of medium cod chips were among the the best , pure white fish and light batter, a little bit more expensive but worth the cost . well done

Thought we would have a fish and chips dinner. How VERY disappointing ! I didnt expect to pay £5 for , what was, a fish finger. The size of the fish was a complete joke and wouldn't have fed a small child. It wasn't really cooked that well as the batter was still runny on the inside. As for the chips.......silly little portion of nearly white barely cooked chips that looked unappetising. I certainly don't recommend this place.

I had the sad occasion to visit Kibbys fish and chip shop Bulwark Chepstow the chips were in the heater for a long time red and white potatoes mixed to save money The red potatoes were burnt see pic The fish had so much oil I could of started my own business with it who ever did the cooking needs lesson in how to cook fish and chips so easy but never had such bad food date of vist 12/11/2019

Came and ordered chips battered sausage and chicken burger last Tuesday.... (really wanted Chinese but was closed) burgers are cooked fresh to order so we had a bit of a wait, food was ok, I agree like others have said it’s pretty hit or miss here, I also find staff come across as they would rather be somewhere else!! Service with a smile goes a long way!!

Bad fish, worse chips. I'm amazed as to why the locals love it; perhaps it really was good once. Having been a few times in the last dozen years I still try to veto this as our take away choice.

I just called in with my wife for fish and chipsI ordered with a very pleasant young lady on the counter.I paid with a £50 note she check it and then give me my change.With that I heard some one shout we don't take £50 notes how embarrassed did I feel. A few minutes later she went on again this time I could see it was a grey haired old lady.there was no sign to say we don't take them.I did say i would have it back she then mumbled it's ok this time.there was no apology for how rude she was.great customer service Not.

The best fish and chips in Chepstow. Have been coming here for over 16 years and It is always a hit.

I have been here 3 times in the past month.... First 2 times I bought a large chips at £3.36. Odd price I know. The portions were so small, I thought tonight I'd buy the regular size at £2.... Photos attached! Shocking! About enough for a chip butty! Sort yourselves out! Day light robbery!

I don’t think they know what good value is curry sauce was like water the pot it was in was so cheap it folded and went everywhere so dangerous The fish if you can call it cod had no taste and was full of oil Chips were all soft and full of oil and full of black bits When people are paying this amount of money the food should be tasty and make you want to have it again this experience was not good

Amazing food, A little bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Staff are very helpful and pleasant.

You know a place will be good when you see a queue and this shop was busy. It was sort of sad actually to see how busy it was with two other takeout places right next door with little traffic! But it was not a long wait.

This is our local chip shop that has really fine down hill. Tiny fish . Very expensive for what you get.

Saw servers rearranging customers’ food with their fingers; no gloves either. The chips - and to be fair, it is a chippy, were like rubber and had barely any flavour. The first visit was the last. Beware! It’s your money!

Food always great here. Good service, plenty of choice, service usually quick. I will always go back as the food is so good

Have been going here for many, many years and always pleased with quality of food. However it is mot as good as it was. Main criticism is prices that now seem expensive compared to towns nearby and the level of service offered in the eat in area is seriously worse than it used to be.

Drive past the endless rows of council houses, industrial estates, dodgy looking pubs (notably the garish Severn Bridge Club) & you'll eventually find yourself in Chepstow's poor relation of Bulwark. But as unpleasant as the area is, it's well worth the trip to grab a delicious meal from Kibby's. Far & away the best fish & chip shop for miles around and has been for longer than I can remember. Just don't eat in. Grab your food and leave. Quickly.

This is one of the nicest fish and chip shops I have been to. It is always of a very high standard and excellent quality. The service is also first rate.

Friendly staff and freshly cooked fish and chips. Great selection ..with burgers, hot dogs etc to choose from . Served in a box , which we love , with a seating area should you want to eat in. Located on Main Street with easy car parking

Decidí darle una oportunidad esta tienda chips después de gente buenas críticas, sin embargo, no estaba tan lleno, y pedí un abadejo y patatas fritas. En el lado positivo, la masa y el tamaño de la porción, especialmente el pescado, estaban bien. En el lado negativo, la empanada crujiente disfrazados un mal cocidas pedazo de pescado, seco y precario pero no de una buena manera. Este es un buen local "fish and chips", pero estropeada por personal resistente a cocinar un trozo de bacalao. Me cuesta entender esto. Cada vez que voy, tengo que insistir en un pedazo de bacalao debido al personal diciendo que sólo tienen cod picaduras. Para mí no hay comparación entre un filete de bonito de bacalao y algunas fuera de recortes en masa por el mismo dinero. He comenzado a usar semanas chips en calle thomas en su lugar. Living local I have used Kibby's for many years, and its always been a treat to eat from here a little expensive compared to some but I've never minded paying for GOOD food. But I'm afraid times have changed, this week we ordered fish, chips and 2curry sauce x2 . This came at the extortionate price of £16+ for the two of us to eat and took nearly 30 minutes to be prepared in an empty shop. Even all this wouldn't have mattered if the meal had been of the quality I have previously had from there, unfortunately this wasn't the case. A very meagre portion of chips which I believe wouldn't have made up one large potato and as for the fish........they looked like the frozen ready battered fish that you buy in Tesco and was soggy and tasteless ............the curry sauce was as good as always. The shop is very clean but I don't believe Mr Kibby should be applauded for his staff doing their jobs properly, and cleanliness should be a given not a bonus. I will no longer be a customer.

Helpful, friendly, great tasting food! I'm a particular fan of their breakfast wrap, extreamly filling and easy to eat! Tastes great! A must try!

Stopped here on the way back from a family outing. Had heard about it from friends so used the opportunity. Well worth it, most places have lost their way in the more traditional serving of fish and Chips, this hasn't, obviously still pushes the more traditional value of a fish supper. Good portion sizes and good value. The Burger choice was great as well and was also of great quality, griddle cooked, well stacked with salad unlike the more typical fare of a greasy offering in a bun. Well done!

They do the nicest chicken nuggets and chips. Not a fan of fish so I've never tried theirs but the chicken nuggets are so so nice, abit pricey in there for abit of the menu. Nice selection nothing too special though

Always make the effort to travel to this fish and chip shop when we have fish and chips rather than our local. The battter is very crispy on the fish and the chips are not too greasy. Very large portions of chips usually share between two/ three people.

I've been here a few times for fish, chips and mushy peas, no on each occasion it's been very good. One of the better Chippys in the area. Highly recommended.

Have been here at least six times and the quality has been spot on every time. If you are in the area, do make the effort to visit - you won't be disappointed!

Fish and chips are a must, lovely and hot and plenty of it, freshly cooked whilst you wait, A lovely clean shop, with friendly and polite staff.

Came here for takeaway. Called in the order since they were close to closing time. Food was average- though the amount you got for your money was good. The pea fritter, though small, was delicious. Fries tasted mostly of grease and ended up upsetting my stomach. The fish was nothing to rave about. Overall, just a typical F&C meal for a reasonable price. I might come back if I'm desperate in this area.

You always get quick and speedy service, and the whole shop always looks as clean as a whistle - fish and chips is always a tasty option, but regardless of what you actually order you can always be assured of something really well-cooked and delicious. Especially for a fish and chip shop, Kibby's is really top-quality.

I have eaten here on a number of occasions. A long established business based on quality and reputation. It is primarily a take away but has a nice little seating/eating area to one side. The fish and chips are outstanding - I normally eat in! Expect to pay around £5 - £6 to eat in. Excellent - but basic surroundings.

Chip shops are a very personal choice. But in my mind this is a good no nonsense chip shop and the queues suggest I am not alone in this view. Does gravy and Pukka pies, which is a real plus.

Don't expect to hear that in Kibby's! It is one of my pet hates with the place, they don't ask you and instead expect you to unwrap what they have just wrapped to put it on yourself at the end of the counter.As a chip shop the food is pretty good however it is both overpriced and the portion sizes are very small, in fact their large chips is a smaller portion than the chip shops down the roads small portion.

Thank you Amanda and Sarah for accomodating our last minute request for large amounts of chicken and chips & fish and chips on Saturday for our event at the dance studio. The food was hot, delicious and everyone said so. You went out of your way to be helpful and generous and we will certainly use Kibby's again for food at our events. I was impressed by the cleanliness of this fish and chip shop, and we were served very quickly by a friendly and efficient person. The fish and chips I had however could have been better. The fish itself was clearly of good quality with thick, fresh flakes but the batter was quite chewy and soggy. The chips were also a bit soggy, so perhaps we were just unlucky with our timing and didn't manage to get a freshly cooked batch.

Really good quality likely the best in the area and on par with Blackpool on a good day. So worth a try. Queues can be a problem.

having previously owned a fish and chip shop we always try others and must say that this shop not only offers good service and excellent quality but is open longer hours than the majority of town shops.the premises are very clean fully open to view with seating possible.even though we are retired we would have been proud to have owned this establishment,Although of the main road/hill going down into chepstow it is well worth the visit.there are a few shops adjacent icluding Lidles and a club opposite.

If you are keen for a really good fish and chips in Chepstow these are likely the best for quality and value. Some way outside the town so you will need a car

Fish is fresh and usually well cooked - prefer it on the occasions the skin is removed from the fish, chips good and packaging good. Staff could be more cheerful and customer friendly

Had fish and chips here last week, simply superb ! Fish and chips tonight, oh dear, superb fish, must have got chips some place else. Called and told new season chips ! Try cooking them, could tie knots in them and oh dear the greasy fat. Not recommended !!!

Thought I'd give this place a go as I was killing time in Chepstow. VERY disappointed - The so called large portion was smaller than a normal chippys small size, I couldn't believe it when the girl handed it to me and it was very expensive for the amount you got too. The chips were ok, a bit dry, certainly nothing special. The shop looks very fancy and its obviously where all the money has gone. Took me about 5mins to polish them off .......then I went across the road and had a Dominos as I was still hungry. By the way I'm not a big strapping bloke with a humongous appetite - I'm a 8 and a half stone woman! If you want better quality chips for a decent price and double the portion size I'd drive 15mins up the road into Lydney and pop into Ruddy's

Been going to Kibby's my whole life. Best chips in chepstow. Really good food, lovely staff, lovelier price tag and a good place to wait for your food.

Kibbys is the Chippy that takes me back to my childhood, I used to regularly visit here when I lived in this area in the 70's, and 40 years later it's still here selling fine takeaway food and it's just as good as I remember as a snotty kid back in the days of Punk, flares and strikes!

It's a very nice chip shop but there are a couple of issues that stop it from being a very good chip shop;1: The large portion of chips is smaller than a different chip shop in the areas small portion.2: It is expensive for what it is. We will spend over £12 just for two of us to eat. I know that's not a great deal of money but I'd expect to pay under £10 for two to eat in a chippy. Again not a big difference but percentage wise it is!3: They pack your chips up without putting s&v on them and when you ask for it your told you have to do it yourself. Sorry but I don't want to be unwrapping my chips to put s&v on them then not being able to wrap them up properly and have the chips fall out in the bag.Over all the food is top quality the chips fish and burgers are all recommended but it's a shame the rest let's it down.

Great location, great food but such a shame their portions are so small, a portion of chips is the portion I would give to a child, but taste fresh, good and a great taste of the Traditional British Chippy!Service is rushed and you have to unwrap your food and put salt and vineger on which is a bit of a pain.Overall it is a great chippy and would suggest you try it out but order large in whatever you have!
