Fish & Chips in Stirling

After waiting 45 mins for food I ended up walking out. I didn’t ask for a refund because the staff were fighting behind the counter. There were two other orders ahead of me and in my 45 mins of being in there, only one was served. It was 3 in the afternoon and I counted four staff working, it was not busy. I ordered two chips and a plain burger. I should have walked when I seen the staff cross contaminate literally everything in the shop. No gloves, picking up all the food with bare hands etc. I should have also walked out when a couple complained that their chips were still frozen on the inside. They waited 30 minutes for their order to get frozen chips, they were told their burger would be a further 10 minutes. They also seemed to defrost their chips in the pizza oven, they did this twice when I was there. I should have walked out then. I seen the burgers be defrosted in a microwave, which may be common practice but it’s the first time I seen it happen in a chipper. I only walked out, after paying 18 pound, because I had waited 45 minutes and genuinely didn’t think I could trust whatever they served me. I did drink the Pepsi Max and Coke Zero we bought, they were 5 stars. Unfortunately I cannot say what the food was like. Hopefully when I pass through later in the year my chips and burger will be ready.

Way over priced for the quality of food , 2 X fish supper , 1 X king rib supper and 1 x sausage supper = £46 for a family of 4 , £12.95 for a fish supper , batter was soggy and chips were awful , felt like I had been robbed at those prices for awful food , would definitely not recommend.

Worst chip shop I've ever had food from! Fish was so bland, king rib also bland but greasy and chips were terrible. Waited in excess of 25 minutes for food. Prices are ridiculous! Absolutely shocking prices for such poor food. Best part of £50 binned! Would absolutely not recommend to anyone!!

Ordered 2x fish suppers, pizza supper , veg pakora and large chips. The batter on the fish was perfect, two large pieces of fish in each portion and the chips were also good. The veg pakora got a big thumbs up and pizza crunch was also very good. I think it was £12:50 for a fish supper but unless you want to travel to Callander you have to pay that wee bit extra.

This is review of the fish and chip shop at the Aberfoyle inn, Aberfoyle. I should have about turned when I entered what looked and felt like a derelict chippy that had just re-opened two mins earlier. The blackboard above the counter had barely legible and brief descriptions with no prices. The warming/draining tray was empty and my food was cooked to order. I approached the counter where I asked for two haddock suppers and paid the sum of £ 25.90 which I thought a bit steep. Back to the car to eat our chippy and there were two pieces of fish in each supper. The fish was thin and on the smaller side with the batter bubbled up quite a bit to make them look bigger. The batter was not nice at all. Very greasy and had a burnt taste to it. My other half lifted a piece of fish and was surprised how greasy it was, she never ate any of the batter at all and only a small part of the fish. I ate all of mine and put up wi the oiliness of it. The chips were a bit greasy and undercooked. I have no doubt the fryer(s) have very little to no experience of fish frying. It’s the most expensive chippy I’ve ever had! And close to being the worst! I wish I had gone into Callander instead!

New owner. Lovely food. Good value. Still looks like ABERFOYLE Inn but for past two weeks has been open under new owner. Staff are friendly and food is tasty. What more do you need?

A very small portion of chips, but the chips were not nice. Undercooked, luke warm and not tasty. The fish was ok. The battered sausage didn't look very nice and tasted of not a great deal, but the batter and sausage were unpleasant texture and the batter was definitely undercooked. Whoever is doing the cooking is not cooking the items hot enough, nor keeping them at a high enough temperature, hence the batter is soggy and unpleasant, the chips so undercooked and they then go cold. Very disappointing because this is a lovely area to stay and we were so looking forward to a treat from a fish and chip place. This place is letting the town down.

This is a great fish and chip shop. Great customer service. Cooked to order. Fish portions are a little small and chip portions are med/large depending on appetite. There is an option for two pieces of fish with a slight discount. They also do chicken, burgers, haggis and fried pizza! Price is about the same as anywhere else, in fact cheaper than my local in Oxfordshire. Option to eat in if you wish. When we arrived it was very busy but we got our order within 20 minutes.

Omg what can I say …. The worst customer service ever …. Rude…. I ordered 2x fish and chips and a sausage and chips , curry sauce and mushy peas. ( well we get to the food in a bit ) She wrapped one fish and chips and than tried to give me another what was sitting on the site for a bit from a previous customer which I kindly declined. I asked for a fresh one. I than got shouted at , it was only there for 2 seconds, believe me it was not. She than shouted … I have to throw it in the bin . Well yes as I don’t want it . Food …… well the fish was ok , but everything else was just tasteless and on top of that for the money we paid , tiny portions.

Just spent a tenner on the worst margerita pizza in the world. You know the cardboard bases you buy 3 for £1.. I think they got 4!! Plastic cheese and tasteless.. COMPLETELY tasteless tomato sauce smeared all over it.. I waited nearly 20 minutes for this.. if I wasnt staying 10 mins drive away I would have taken it back Please avoid.

Paid 4.50 for a miserable portion of chips and a dribble of curry sauce. Absolutely ridiculous. Avoid this place. Unless you have deep pockets and are not remotely hungry.

The fish was fresh but the chips were a little dry. Great that they weren't dripping with grease but but a little tasteless. White pudding was chewy, dry and sticky. Not at all appetising.

I was £4.50 for a roll with fritter and a can of juice. The fritter was very dry and tasted of absolutely nothing. What was weird was the brioche roll which tasted sweet so the both didnt go together at all. The staff were friendly enough. I questioned the price twice for a roll and fritter and can and she said is that expensive. My local chippy you would get this for £2.50 and it would also taste miles better. Again staff were friendly enough but this is a typical tourist trap rip off! Wont stop again.

This has to be the worst chippy I have ever had. Chips were horrendous , staff handling food and money with bare hands. Chips were barely touched Took 20 minutes for small order.

I only realised after placing my order how filthy this place was. Disgusting. Staff could not have cared less. Greasy, awful food.

Stopped here for a quick supper after hiking in the park. I had chips and curry sauce and hubby had sausage supper. The food was terrible, poor quality, very greasy and actually the worst food we have ever eaten! My curry sauce had actual lumps of power in it! Not cheap either and most of it went in the bin.

We popped in here for lunch but it was a big mistake. On entering there was a large menu but not one price in sight and then to be told they didn't have any pizzas or a few other things should have sent alarm bells ringing. We then got charged for a king rib supper when we only asked for a single king rib, we also asked for 2 chip rolls and a fish supper, we then waited about 20 mins for the food and then we were given the wrong order, then the woman serving came running out to check our order. The chips were absolutely disgusting, worst chip shop chips I've ever tastied and we were clearly conned out of money for things we didn't ask for or liked. Avoid this place at all costs!

Called in for lunch- sat outside with dog. Friendly service and great chips with curry sauce. Good lunch.

I have previously eaten in the adjoining restaurant and enjoyed beautiful starter, main and dessert. The friendly staff were full of information on the Aberfoyle area, etc. I returned to the area and tried a takeaway fish supper....I ordered Haddock and Chips.....Oh what a joy this turned out to be....large fish cooked to perfection with real old fashioned chips....I went back to compliment Martin and his team on the quality of this super. .A Big Weldone was awarded....Certainly will be back to enjoy fab fish and chips....Ken Kennedy

Excellent fish and chips. Fish was fresh, batter was lovely and crispy. Chips were no bad. Excellent value.

Best chippy I've found within 30 miles. The fish is fresh. Pizzas are delicious. Burgers best around

A family gathering 13 of us opting for a Chippy, We had seen some bad reviews about this Chippy but decided to give it a go, and I’m glad we did , huge portions of chips and excellent fish, well done , happy to recommend...

Strongly recommend avoiding this place. Food was sickly. Absolutely no hygiene, staff members handling all the food with bare hands and then handling money. No masks on the staff. Go to one of the pubs in the village!

Delighted with our dinner tonight, lovely helpful staff. They grilled my fish for me instead of having the batter on the fish and it was delicious. Service was fast and friendly. A lovely end to our day trip.
