Tasty Fry in Stirling

I honestly can't review the food as this place fell at the first hurdle and we decided we'd rather not eat than eat at this place. We visited on 31st March around 8pm when we were greated by the gargoyle working behind the counter who we found less than hospitable, who bore all the hallmarks of someone whom life had given lemons and they had sooked them all at once. Won't be back, terrible service, no customer service skills.

Went this chip shop for 2 fish supper’s and a sausage supper for my grandson I can honestly say it’s the worst fish supper I’ve ever had the fish was greasy in the middle under the batter the chips where ok but my grand sons sausage supper had a small metal washer in one the sausages shocking I would go back and complain but it probably wouldn’t have done any good lesson learned best avoid this place I wish I had read the reviews before I went if I could give zero I would

Stop ere just before closing pick up yummy food great service owner and young lad where so nice good laugh will be back 😋 ps would off added photo smell so good i ate it lol

me and my boys (miniminter, w2s, calfreezy ect..) went on a sidmen shoot to get som scran. better than in Brighton. that little boy that works there is proper kind. best chip shop EVER. only thing that would make it better is if they sold prime. #DRINKPRIME

We want to grab small bite. So we ordered chips with curry sauce. Food was ok type what you expect from this type of small shop. One thing i can say you will get enough the amount you paid.

Food was good, staff were lovely , my problem is the tub size of curry sauce, it’s that small it it’s won’t cover one chip, decent sized tubs are required , fish rubbery like a bouncy ball

As other reviewers have said, bad attitude by the older female, pie supper in the afternoon was clearly from the night before, hard as a rock, disgustingly greasy inside, it was almost black like black pudding inside, as was the chip that were like broken glass, the dreggs indeed. My dog eats better

I am very unimpressed by the manners and etiquette of the staff here. They called me a cheeky wee **** cause I asked if they could give me more ketchup then insulted me about my weight . The chips were nice but the fish was like sushi and batter was raw

Delicious as always. Battered sausage was perfectly crisp. Chips are always excellent. I come through here from Stirling especially because the chips are consistently good.

I had a very upset stomach a couple of hours later after eating their awful stale chips, they tasted like they were reheated & made from cardboard. I ate less than half because I was just so hungry but left the rest. My husband had battered haggis, he is really not well today. Feels very sick & upset tummy. Neither of us ate anything else yesterday & our Dr on ringing her suspects it’s the food from this place, On reading previous reviews on Trip Advisor today, it looks like it has happened before. They need to up their game considerably. This chippy needs rebranding to the “Nasty Fry”!

My husband had battered Haggis. I had a chip roll. We both ended up with chronic upset stomachs, my husband is very unwell still today, the day after. The chips tasted stale, like they were warmed up, I ate some of them because I was hungry. Worst chips I’ve had. Need to do so much better.

Phoned at 20:30 to check their opening times which was until 21:00, told them we were 15 mins away which they said was fine, arrived at 20:45 and they had already closed… very bizarre! Go to The Frying Dutchman along the road!!

Bad service in general. Unfriendly manager. Won’t come back. —> Frying Dutch man is a much better option!

Chips on Tuesday absolutely beautiful. Chips tonight not so nice. See if they were always cooked fresh and not overly done with fresh oil then they would be 5 stars all day. Too much of a hit or a miss.

Lovely wee chippy. Have visited Callander a few times over the years and tried this as well as Mhor Fish. Both places lovely. Only bought some chips but were absolutely delicious and wouldn’t hesitate to return

Just back from Callander, dropped in for a couple of fish & chip supers. Wish we had saved our money. The fish was very greasy and the chips sub standard. Plus you've to pay extra for sauce. £19.00 wasted. It's now in the bin. Do not recommend.

Me and my partner come here when we get a weekend off together, usually evry couple month and we always get a fish supper each, I have yet to find anywhere near as good for a fish supper absolutely delicious n staff are very friendly, keep it up bud n gals.

Always fresh food. The fish is probably one of the best in Scotland. The lady who fries is a legend, we go up here on the bikes quite often.

It's ok.. would say overpriced. Was £9.50 for fish supper and you have to buy sauce if you want it. One piece of fish.. my local chippy gives 2 slices fish in supper for less with free sauce... However was tasty and boneless

What a terrible excuse for a fish supper the fish was dripping in grease and the batter was not cooked as it was so thick so it didn’t stick to the fish and was still white underneath i tried a bit of fish and a few chips that was not under the fish it was so disgusting that it went straight in the bin what a waste of a tenner I noticed theirs quite a few negative comments and they still carry on

Called by here and had the fish bites ‘supper’ which includes chips, about £8.50 or so I think, although you can just have the fish bites on their own for about £5.00 or so too. My wife and I shared and glad we did as the portion was generous. Nice lady who served us, chatty & friendly. This was our first fish & chips in Scotland lol. Sat in our car by the river on the car park at the back and chilled. Very nice.

Very good salt and viniger chips

Pretty rank .potions were small had to pay extra for sauce which was new to me .the chicken nuggets I spat out the first one I ate it tasted bad like cooked in butter or somthing binned the rest .we passed through calendar on way home from a great day out we obviously picked the worst chippy in town

Worst experience of a chippy ever. Ordered 9 meals with family during a weekend in Callander to celebrate a big family birthday. Not one single meal was finished, we asked if they offer gluten free options - to which we were told no. Pizza crunches & battered sausage were greasy, completely inedible, chips were dry and were like frozen chips you can by from a supermarket. 4 meals were fish suppers, all of which were terrible, it was not fresh or enjoyed by any in the group. I would certainly avoid.

We ordered 2 fish suppers. Not sure if they use frozen fish but I suspect they do as the fish was very dry in one portion and just passable on the other. The batter hadn’t been cooked all the way through so it was rubbery & soggy, left the majority of it. Quite liked the taste of the chips, tasted like they had been cooked in dripping.

Visited here with slight hesitation going by mixed reviews but was giving benefit of doubt as love a fish supper. Unfortunately however we were very disappointed. People mention portion size v’s price being a positive, we however pay the same in our home town for the same if not larger portion , £10 for a fish supper! The chips were tasty but the fish which is the main event was very dry and over cooked and the batter was so thick is detached from the fish and was very crispy on the outside but still congealed and raw on the inside, very very poor. As we bought two of these, they were consistent so it was not one bad fry. Premises are small but staff professional although never saw any smiles.

Don't go here. Nasty, oily and old. The oil was so old, the fish and chips has a horrible smell. The batter was soggy. We threw £23 worth of fish and chips in the bin. What a horrible and expensive experience

Unhygienic chips all over the floor, server picked my sausage up with his hands no gloves on, poor portions small to say the least I could count on 2 hands the chips I was given, also no sauces peas beans gravey etc no kebab ready no nothing, definitely will not be going here again from a tourist point of view, also expensive! £10.90 for chips pie sausage and curry!

First of all, I cannot understand why there are so many poor reviews for the Tasty Fry? Myself and better half have been eating from these guys for nigh on 10 years, we travel a great distance around 6 times a year (weather and Covid permitting) We have never been dissatisfied with the Fish Suppers, to a degree that we recommend the shop to friends (many) and Family. Chips have just the right amount of crispness but still fluffy inside, the Fish is always fresh and white, flakes perfectly and the light batter stays lovely and crispy until the last mouthful. Leanne has always been serving on our visits along with various other members of the team, unfortunately we didn't get their names. We have never received anything other than Friendly, Prompt and Courteous service, we always chat to the team whilst awaiting our suppers. As for customers posting reviews about litter and polystyrene trays, I must agree about the polystyrene trays, I much prefer a cardboard box that most Chip shop now use, however this is a personal preference and it is entirely up to the owner what he/she wants to use. Once a Customer leaves the shop it is up to them to dispose of the packaging and not the Tasty Fry! I have personally not seen any overflowing bins around the park/river area, it this has been the case obviously it's the council at fault? I would like to take this opportunity to highly recommend the Tasty Fry to anyone who either lives in the town or visitors to Callander. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

This place is the business! Best fish ive tasted in a long time! The service was outstanding, the young lady that served me is leaving in 2 weeks! Owner please pay her more to make her stay! ❤️❤️❤️

this is the best food in the world i went thare for 2 and a bit years every day and im not dead it is the best chipy of all and the staff are nice.

After a disappointing visit to Callander, the missus and I decided to share a bag of chips from here. Huge portion size for half the price of our local chippy. The staff were friendly and the food was excellent. I remember this being the favourite chippy of my late Grandfather and he said it had been around since he was a wee boy - he was 94! Whether that's true or not, I don't know, but he loved his occasional visit to the chippy - and we weren't disappointed!

Rude , rotten , rubbish .avoid at all costs from a honest person it’s one of the worst chippys I’ve had . Had many all over Scotland . Just my advice save urself a disappointment on a rubbish dinner Frying Dutchmen up the road 100% better .

Lovely fish supper. 2nd time I’ve visited on my munro hiking trips. Not sure what all the negative reviews are for as I really enjoyed my food, having worked in a good chip shop previously I can say that these were very good. Thanks to the 2 ladies who served me tonight. :)

We visited this place one evening for our evening meal ad what was called a "sausage supper". It was very good at a not unreasonable price and gave us a very enjoyable meal. I would recommend this place for a takeaway meal.

The only chippy in calender so not much choice, it's a chippy but wouldn't be my first choice.

My husband went up for 2 fish suppers greeted by two nasty pieces of works. Went up the road to a fantastic chip shop with lovely friendly staff. Remember the customer pays your wages after all or you wouldnt have a job!!!

Used to love getting my supper from here, food was consistent and excellent. However, I went today during a busy period around 6pm and wasn't impressed to see the portion size was more than halved from the normal. I don't know if its the new normal, or if they'd simply reduced the portion size due to it being busy, but either way it wasn't worth the wait nor the price at that portion size. Unfortunately I won't be returning now...

So friendly & helpful, told us about the park by the river. My husband & I enjoyed our meal by the river celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. Best fish & chips we’ve ever had….it’s big, can definitely share 1 meal, but we got 2…would recommend 2 pieces of fish & 1 fry. Would eat there again.

Chips are great fish disgusting inedible I'm almost 100% sure this fish was pre battered pre frozen supermarket packet fish.... batter fell off it in one single slobbery sheet... that dosnt happen with fresh battered fish at all, fish was more grey than white..again goes...

Rotten - ordered a sausage supper, black pudding and chicken nuggets with was too soggy with the batter and i cant describe how much batter they put on it was ridiculous complete heart attack material , the amount of grease coming out of it also was astonishing, wouldnt even feed it to my dogs

Being a regular in Callander I decided to give the tasty fry chip Shop a try And it was terrible the chips were re heats You can tell buy the colour of the chips greasy Terrible portions And rotten attitude from the woman serving you...

Went for lunch today and was served by a young male, we were telling him our order, then he turned around and said abruptly anything else with throwing his arms out to the side, and looked angry as saying it, tone, manner and body laungage...

Very rude staff!! I won’t go back for sure!! Also chips were greasy and cold. One older lady in particular needs a lesson from the younger staff on how to interact with her customers. I can see from other reviews that I’m not the only...

Purchased 2 fish and chip suppers on 14.07.21 it was the worst fish I have ever had, really soggy batter and not very nice fish. I would never recommend to anyone.
