First time the family of 11 visited this fish and chip restaurant , we all ordered Fush and chips some specials and some regular. All the orders came out together hot and portions worth excellent . Value for money and service exceptional highly recommended definitely eat thete again next visit

Excellent fish and chip and in my view the best in Teingmouth, Always piping hot and large portions. Staff are friendly and extremely helpful. We travel to go there and wouldn't anywhere else.

Not great and vastly overpriced. Had a regular fish and chips and sadly the fish was more like a mini fish with barely a portion of chips. Chips weren't great and felt very overpriced for what we got. Won't be trying them again ....sorry!

On the 19th September 2024 hubby and my self sat inside by window and wow had excellent service and the yummiest fish and chips gorgeous batter on fish Great coffee or tea well worth a visit .

No matter how long a time between visits the quality, price, staff and atmosphere is fabulous every time. It’s worth the 40 mins train journey to visit.

Have eaten here before and it has been fine but last night the regular cod was almost all batter and the fish definitely wasn't at its best. Chips were nice.

Very busy but very efficient. Great choice of fish. first choice of Pollock was sold out however the Haddock was fantastic. Sometimes the batter can be greasy but this was spot on. Chips were perfect and the mushy peas so tasty. I will definately be going back when i am next in South Devon. Well done excellent food 👍

Used this place for many years and always worth the money and the wait during busy times, but unfortunately the last two times have been very disappointing. The batter use to be crispy and the fish flakey, on the last two occasions in July and august 24 the batter was very very greasy and the fish certainly did not taste fresh. At £34.50 for three take away fish and chips, will be giving this place a miss. Will try again when the summer season is over. But until then, I will look for somewhere else. The grease was so bad it soaked through the box all over my shirt.

Very tasty fish and chips, generous portions and good value. We bought 2 large cod, 2 battered sausages and 2 large portions of chips for just over £30 and it amply fed 4 adults and 2 kids. The takeaway was busy when we ordered but we only waited for 15 or 20 minutes before our number was called.

I got to say the lady who was serving us was definitely over worked she was on her own in the restaurant and did her best to cope with everyone, going on to the food it was top quality hot and delicious fairly priced for a restaurant I would say the curry sauce portion was far too small but very tasty 9/10 only because the curry sauce was not enough😋 or it would have been 10/10

Had fish chips and curry sauce for myself and hubby, fabulous service and reasonably priced. All freshly cooked, crispy batter and lovely chips. seagull swooped on mine and Immediately a member of staff came out to offer a replacement. I had eaten half the chips but they offered to replace the whole meal. I requested just a fish which again was exceptional quality cooked fresh. Highly recommend.

We are locals and this is our go to for take away and eat in. Best Whitebait around, fantastic HUGE fish fingers. Generally great food, reasonable priced and staff are friendly.

One star because we was overcharged by £15. Three of us has split the bill all totally up.our own amounts correctly ( double amd triple checked). After we all paid the waitress claimed there was £15 left to pay and that the till had messed up the cost. We all checked pur prices again on the menu again and we was correct. So £50 for two meals for me and my partner in the end. Not happy

We only had their takeaway chips and sat on the sea wall but omg great chips, a huge portion for "regular" and very tasty 😋 we only live in Paignton so " we'll be back" as Arnie says 🤣

Great fish and chips. My wife and I including our beloved dogs, had a lunchtime special in their restaurant. Fantastic value and a very good fish and chips. The staff were excellent and were extremely helpful.

Takeaway cod and chips were lovely and fresh, although very expensive. Maybe that's the norm down south I dont know. Not very friend service maybe they don't like holiday makers.

When we walked in we were greeted and seated within seconds. Our server was new but incredibly friendly. With our orders taken, the food was swiftly brought out. The chips were great, I'd have been happy to wait far longer given how good they were. Folks checked in with us to ensure we had everything we needed, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. As we were on holiday we won't be able to pop in any time soon but in the last few weeks I have given more than a passing thought to driving two hours to get some chips!

Good fish and chips, best in town. But if visiting Devon and passing through Slapton Sands, go into the Start Bay fish and Chips Restaurant, ask for large cod and Chips....you will be amazed at quality and portion size, in a good way .

Ordered large cod and chips, with a regular cod for a family of three, all enjoyed their meal with all of us enjoying the flavour of the batter, old fashioned chips which was enough for the three of us. The fish flakes pulled off which is always a good indication that it was cooked at the right temperature and time. The fish was also of a good size. The two members of staff were friendly and respectful enough. Its an unfair world when Teignmouth have all the better pubs and restaurants compared to Dawlish Will definately return THANKS

We had fish and chips from here on the bank holiday weekend and WOW, ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! My only criticism was I wish there was a tad more vinegar but never the less, we enjoyed them with gorgeous sea views and the sunshine on our faces. Thank you

Had a day out in tinmouth and went in to Finns to buy a portion of fish and chips. They were superb, service was excellent and upon seeing my elderly mum was with me gave her a piece of fish as well. I wish I knew the guys name but a massive thankyou this kind gesture made our day. It's so refreshing to see there are still kind decent people and the fish really was superb. Thanks Finns

We were looking for some good quality Fish and Chips on our visit toTeignmouth. We saw the reviews and thought we would try it. We were very happy with our food and the service we received. We thought it offered good value for money. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Traditional fish and chip restaurant, we ate here twice and enjoyed the fab food, our group tried all different fish and everything was fab. Staff were friendly and we always had great service.

Delicious clean food. Lovely fish and chips. Asked if we would like the small sausage I ordered for the dog to be taken out straight away so it could cool down. Also filled up the water bowl for the dog. Very polite and accommodating. Will go again next time we go to Teignmouth . 10/10 lads 👍👍

For the price of £14 the fish was all batter and chewy. Chips went in the bin.

Polite staff. Ordered a single portion of chips. Ten minute wait, so they were fresh. They just didn't taste good I'm afraid. Sorry to say that I can't recommend.

Not very good!! I had food from here about a year ago and it was poor! Thought I'd give it another try and to be honest the chips were like cardboard and the fish was so thin it was dry!! Never again 😔😔

Two years ago, I had given Finns 5 stars. Not today. Something is very different. The quality is not as good and its such a shame. My friend had to return hers, and so did another gentleman in the restaurant...

Went twice as the local Weatherspoons has become very expensive, fish and chips is a lot cheaper at this chippy than the pub. Only in Devon for 3 nights and this chippy served its purpose. Its clear at this time of year they only cook when the items are ordered so everything was freshly prepared. The two young lads serving the customers though need to learn to smile and be welcoming.

Its ok - It looks good from the outside but the quality of chips are not quite there, I'd say below average. I do prefer two other chippies in Teignmouth but they were shut on the Monday I visited so had to settle for Finn McCools.

In 2019 I gave Finn McCools a 5* rating and excellent review. Sadly and very disappointingly now in 2024 I am giving a 1* rating. Yesterday I bought 2 Large cod and chips. Scarcely any fish inside the thick hard inedible batter and what little there was was dry, stuck fast and wouldn't even scrape off the batter. The chips were insipid and dry. It seemed like they had given me batter and chips! I suspect this was left over fish which they then re-fried which is why it was completely overcooked, dried out and batter thick and horrible. I paid over £28 for this. I will never go back again.

A lovely fish and chip restaurant, can’t recommend highly enough! The service was excellent, food served hot and chips just right. Location ideal, just 1 min from seafront promenade. One of the best we’ve been to, travelled from north Devon for the day and really enjoyed it!

Walked into their restaurant at 8.15pm on a Friday to be told abruptly that they had stopped serving. I pointed out the sign saying 9pm and was told rudely that they close when quiet. I could understand but there was at least 3 other full tables. Poor show indeed !

Lovely cod and chips, with the bonus of being close to the seafront, do you can take them and sit by the sea. They are freshly cooked and to us they were perfect. Recommended.

We went here today, 10 of us in all, nan in wheelchair, the staff were absolutely amazing didn’t rush us. Got involved with us and made nan feel very comfortable as she has dementia he came over and asked if she would perfer her latte in a mug. We thought it was so sweet. We will definitely be going back. Food was amazing too.

Food was amazing . As always ! Normally when I come here the staff are lovely and very polite . Today was a different story . The young man who was bagging up the food was what I like to call “an energy sponge “ when your parting with nearly 30 pound for fish and chips the least you would expect is to be served with a smile and not be made to feel unwelcome .

Food was amazing though the lady serving came across as unapproachable which was a little off putting. Also it would have been helpful to have updated your opening hours, we drove all the way for a second meal to end our holiday and it was closed which was disappointing.

Visited on a rainy day, we had a table inside and the service was great. We had Pollock, haddock and a chicken burger, all were nice.

Cod over cooked for the 2nd time in recent weeks, won't be returning anytime soon.

Really disappointing. Staff surly, fish and chips - nice batter but very dry chips and tasteless fish. Husband had chicken n mushroom pie which was soggy and not properly cooked. Very expensive for the quality.

Chips cooked very well! The squid rings were very soft inside and very crispy outside, really nice and tasty 😋 I’ll be back to try the fish next time 😀We were going for a take away & decided to dine in. Wine very cheap £5.75 per glass although the pot of tea for 2 people £6.30 a bit overpriced 😉

Fresh food which my son enjoyed thoroughly! Ate on the beach, a stone's throw away. Due to covid you have to queue up to order, but it's worth the wait and doesn't take long to prepare.

if you arent strapped for time this is the place to get your fish and chips from, its by far the best quality fish and chips around. so all the food is cooked to order which does mean you will have a bit of a wait as a result (which is fair enough) and the portions are relatively smaller then other places but again i cannot stress enough how much the sheer quality of the food justifies this.

We came across Finn Mc Cools the fish and chip shop whilst in Teignmouth for the day...6th Sept 2023...11.40 so we went back just past 12 o'clock had the best fish and chips we have had for ages...batter perfect...chips perfect....cod goid portion and perfectly cooked...Ted our Jack Russell was okay to be with us...really enjoyable meal...my wufe had chicken nuggets and chips...cooked perfectly too...we will return

Great chippy, not an issue, good products cooked fresh. In my opinion, needs a smaller chip portion available, can be expensive, but great quality and fish is expensive, people risk their lives to get it, so worth it.
