Fig & Thyme Kitchen in Plymouth

Visiting Plymouth for the first time. Had some work to do early in the morning so end up looking for a late breakfast restaurant. Found Fig & Thyme on maps and looked quite attractive. This place definitely did not disappointed. As myself along with my family walked it, a member of staff welcomed us in. She was so kind and welcoming. We sat down and we were brought the menus as could be seen in the pics. The prices are affordable, not the cheapest but the quality does not come cheap, I guess. I ordered a cappuccino and it came really nice on a shaped wood place with cubs of sugar. We all went for Eggs’s Benedict in their home made round shape croffle with smashed avocado and also asked for smoked bacon and beans as extras. The bacon was probably the best bacon I had in a restaurant, really strong flavor. For dessert we shared a banana bread with ice cream which you would expect to be very sweet but was actually very balanced. Really tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant. It has everything, good food, amazing service and decent atmosphere. We will definitely revisit. Thank you Fig & Thyme for having us.

Perfect brunch spot!! I think this could be the best avocado toast I have ever had the joy of eating. Food was delicious. Atmosphere was lovely and the staff were so friendly and attentive to all our needs. I will definitely be coming back to eat more as soon as I can!

Found by chance, we find a lot of Plymouth eateries a bit chain like Lovely place from the moment we arrived although there wasn’t a table they tried to be helpful and tell us how long it would be , very friendly , interesting brunch menu, wait not too long and food very good quality and freshly cooked and wonderfully presented! We are picky and like something a little different this ticked all the boxes!

Today I’ve been with my friend for brunch. It was so delicious, hot drinks and very clean. Customer service was brilliant and just a really good vibe! We will be back very soon!

Food was top quality, best breakfast/brunch I’ve had in ages. Price was fair for what you get. Service could have been better if I’m honest, friendly staff and order was correct but drinks took a while, no check back on the food, didn’t clear our plates had to get up and pay after finishing. Nothing major though, would return for sure

Not a good experience. My latte was not hot and when asked "Was everything OK for you?" the waitress did not accept my feedback. It was an uncomfortable moment. It's also very expensive for breakfast.

Used to like this place a lot mainly the atmosphere and the service. During peak time, the manager can’t cope when it’s busy, so we decided to give them another chance. In conclusion, the management team need to learn to look after regular customers. As an independent business, you will need to rely on these customers during your non busy season to pay for your bills.

My friend and I had planned to pop in early yesterday, but unfortunately (for us)there was a long queue. However, we came back a little later and were lucky to get a table. Well, what a wonderful experience we had. From the moment we stepped inside, the care and service was tremendous. The food!!! Absolutely delicious and plentiful. Friendly staff and atmosphere, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thank you. We will come again.

Lovely place for ladies catch up place. Good breakfast/brunch food. Don't go there if you in rush! Cause can be a bit of wait. Coffee mug bit hot to handle as there no handle on it.

Popped in for breakfast, lovely surroundings. Excellent service. Had a decaf mocha, really smooth and perfect blend of coffee and chocolate, wife had heron valley lemonade, we had the breakfast sharing board for 2, a lovely twist on the traditional english breakfast, best bits for me were the fried toast, more like glazed and so tasty, smokey beans delicious, thick streaky smoked bacon and juicy tomatoes, wife loved the flavoured butter and smashed avocado. Had a really good chat when paying with the owner and she was eager for feedback which she was so appreciative of it which was really refreshing, you don't get that often anymore, the biscoff filled muffins were incredible. Thankyou for a lovely experience.

Excellent time here at the Fig & Thyme kitchen. When we arrived we were fortunate to get a table as another group left. It was very busy but we were seen very quickly. Our server was excellent and very helpful as we had some diet information requests about certain items and also needed some info about the local area. I had the Chai Latte with Poached Eggs on Toast. I have to say the Chai was one of the best I've ever had. The food was fresh and delicious. The Poached Eggs were also fantastic. Also adored the floral decor that adorned the ceiling and matched with our table. I would recommend Fig & Thyme kitchen to all. A most excellent brunch experience.

fantastic food, service and the place is gorgeous. great selection of savory, spicy and sweet brunch dishes to choose from. they serve a variety of locally sourced juices from Devon! coffees and other drinks are great quality too. they even have a special menu for dogs!! and they sell dog ice cream too. they were able to provide a smaller cup and short straw which was great for my toddler to drink from. the sharing boards are amazing and was good for my toddler to have a larger variety of foods to graze from. absolutely unreal experience both times i have visited. my new fav brunch spot in plymouth!!

I have visited this establishment three times in the past year, when I come up to Plymouth from Cornwall, I would definitely recommend! The food is delicious and plated beautifully, you can tell the chef puts love and imagination into the food, the drinks are also lovely, staff are very pleasant and accommodating with a warm, friendly welcome! I especially loved the maple syrup and cinnamon butter that they make themselves! Will definitely return!

Amazing brunch place! Really good food with big portions and a good balance between sweet and savoury dishes. The full english sharing board was delicious and the waffles were also a highlight. Dishes were also beautifully presented. Staff were friendly and we were able to get a table walking in on a Sunday morning without a wait even though it was quite busy. Overall excellent brunch.

It had been highly recommended so finally got to check it out. The decor was beautiful and the food was delicious it had a twist which was refreshing. Highly recommended. Also dog friendly.

We went today for brunch and we found this gem What an amazing place and without hesitate I would say one of the best brunches I have tried in a while around the world. When I said around the world is not be exaggerated, is being real as we travel a lot and this place is a mix between the local authenticity of Plymouth and a modern style for a brunch place. The plates are very generous and the customer service is great of course they take their time to cook their dishes which made me feel very comfortable as fresh food takes time to be prepared. Keep it up guys you are doing great always space for improvement but you are in the right way. Last but not least love the walk in no booking system you have.

Food was great but the first thing when we got in was being served rudely by this lady who has really bad attitude and commanding customers to do things. This is not how you talk to your customers please. Waited 50 mins for the food but that’s all acceptable but the rude attitude really just put me off.

I'm the sort of person who has a favourite on the menu and always goes back to it. With Fig & Thyme that's impossible because everything is so incredibly flavourful I'd be doing myself an injustice by not trying something new each time I visit. Not to mention, the presentation is absolutely superb - not only is this the best breakfast/brunch food I've had by a mile, it's colourful and beautifully presented to boot. As if it couldn't get any better, the coffee is always served to the perfect temperature (not burnt!), their decaf tastes great, and the atmosphere is always a relaxing vibe.

Great little place for brunch. I had the crumpets Benedict. They even have tasty treats for dogs too which my own pooch enjoyed very much. Would have loved to have enjoyed a matcha latte with my brunch however the delivery hadn't yet arrived, but I will be sure to return at a later stage to have one

We were there for 60 birthday brekky,food was perfect as was service but lm afraid sat next to so many dogs 8 in such a small place 3 were even sat to the table with paws on the tables .One was given drink from the table glass the other fed from the plate.Dogs are animals they should not be allowed in eateries.Whats wrong with people .And l have had dogs myself for years.Very un hygenic.

Everything about this place was ideal for a brunch stop. The interior was very cozy and there was a lot of selection of breakfast/brunch foods to choose from. We had the traditional breakfast sharing platter that was huge, delicious and reasonably priced. We'll definitely be back for more!

This place never disappoints. amazing presentation and amazing food. The service was great too. Just an FYI they cook the veggie sausages in the oven from scratch so can add 20 mins to the order but they will notify you of this! We didn't have to queue as we went on a Monday as its always queued when I drive past. But lovely place for brunch and the sharing platters are incredible and so unusual! Also the butter was one of the nicest things ive ever tasted!

Perfect independent brunch spot on the Barbican. Great menu, and debatably one of the best coffees I’ve ever had - definitely in Plymouth! Food was tasty, atmosphere/decor lovely and serving team extremely friendly! Will certainly be back ☺️

What a beautiful place? The decor and atmosphere took us straight to Bali! We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast here. The apple and biscoff waffles in particular were a winner for us! We will certainly be back!

Our Mexican Share Platter was an absolute feast of flavours! Aesthetically presented, plenty of food, deliciously prepared (sorry, my photo hardly does it justice). Lovely service and great value for money. Thank you for a lovely morning on this wet and windy Sunday

I've visited Fig & Thyme several times, and it's always been one of my top brunch spots in Plymouth. Very consistent food and drink quality and beautiful presentation. However, there are instances when it may take up to 45min to get your food when it's busy! I highly recommend you go right when it opens, as it gets packed very early in the morning. Things I've tried across multiple visits: Salmon & Avocado Croffle (8/10): I ordered a poached egg on the side which was wonderful dipping some of the croffle in the yolk! There is a generous slathering of avocado, and pickled onions to give it that bite. Bacon & Brie Croffle with honey (8/10): that thyme infused honey is so darn good on the bacon, it adds a nice subdued flavour to the croffle sammich. Crab on toast (9/10): a surprise favorite. They use bread from Jacka's bakery and slather with a spread before topping it off with crab. Very lovely, lightly citrus crab. Apple and Cinnamon Biscoff waffles (8/10): fantastic waffles with a very moreish Biscoff sauce. I wish the waffles were a bit more toasted though! Fig & Thyme Sharing board (8/10): a feast for the eyes, and highly recommended if you and a mate/date/partner are feeling peckish for a full English. Gloriously large portion of eggs, bacon, sausage, cherry tomatoes, and toast. Mexican Sharing Board (6/10): coming from California, I'm not a fan of the cardboard-y texture of the tortillas that are used in the quesadillas. I also do not like jarred salsa which have a sweet undertone. Would recommend they add onions, cilantro, lemon to their guacamole for a flavor boost Visually stunning, but definitely not a favorite menu item for me.

We had a table for 3 on a Wednesday for brunch to celebrate my birthday and we had the best experience. The coffee is very good and the food is so delicious. I can clearly understand why they have massive queues at the door on the weekends. Couldn't recommend it more, everything was absolutely perfect.

Absolutely lovely brunch spot in the barbican. Catered very well to me being gluten free, although not advertised on the menu, they offer gluten free bread which was very nice compared to other gluten free breads I've had elsewhere. They accommodate well to food alterations whether that's adding or taking away. Service was brilliant and I will definitely be returning.

Nothing more embarrassing than, 20 minutes into my visit (after having received my order), being asked by the waitress to move from one tiny table to another, just because a party of three walked in. This wouldn't happen at rockets and rascals.

What a delightful establishment. The food is fantastic, the staff are really friendly and welcoming in a lovely atmosphere and setting in a charming part of Plymouth. The icing on the cake, my Birthday breakfast was amazing. Well worth a visit. X

Superb food, always presented like a work of art. And artistry is everywhere in this tiny independent restaurant. It makes you realise how bland the chain restaurants. The last time I actually tasted anything as good was at the superb Dartmoor Inn and they are famed for their Michelin stars and star chef. So. If you want to have a breakfast of champions this is THE place.

We went for the breakfast thyme plank for two and I can confirm it was amazing. I would say it was one the best breakfasts I’ve EVER tasted!! Everything was cooked perfectly: the yolks orange and runny, the bacon crispy and the avacado was something else. The butter was smoked paprika and it was divine. The flat white coffee was one of the best I’ve ever had and the service was lovely. The ladies were super friendly 🥰🫶🏼 The inside is SO pretty. Just look at that decor. We can’t wait to go back and try the evening menu 😋

First time visiting here and I was absolutely blown away by the food and service. Unfortunately there was a rather rude couple of ladies that didn’t like that a table was reserved and that they had to wait and were rude to the staff, who handled it beautifully and professionally.

I don't normally take photos of my food...but I took this photo quickly because I loved how my flat white was presented and wow, not only was the food amazing but so was the flat white! Plus the staff are lovely and I love the décor! Also super dog friendly! 🐶 "Woof!"

While visiting my daughter after her operation we popped in had a sharing breakfast it was so good and service was fantastic, friendly would highly recommend

New favourite brunch spot. Tasty and amazingly beautifully presented food. Friendly staff/ owner. They don’t scrimp on bacon/ fruit / anything on the dishes. All the drinks come on these cute little trays. Couldn’t fault it. Decor lovely too, even in the bathroom. 5*+

I came here for brunch and it was delicious! The only downside was the slow service but it was pretty busy so understandable. It had such a nice atmosphere and pretty interior. Staff are super friendly and helpful.I definitely recommend coming here!

Absolutely perfect place! It is a big wow. First: atmosphere, fantastic. All the deco and the colors make the perfect combo. Second: service, we had a very warm welcome followed by a very efficient waitress service. Third: food, explosion of flavors in your mouth, the quality, the preparation and the serving it is so far one of the best in Plymouth. We ordered the avocado with vegan feta, eggs on toast and waffles with syrup and fruits, all of them 10/10. The quality of the coffee is top too. We will be back soon.

It was our first visit to Fig and Thyme and we were impressed by the welcome we received. My husband and I brought in my elderly mother who uses a wheelchair and nothing was too much trouble; in view that they even moved a bench to accommodate the wheelchair. Although we only ordered coffee I would have been happy to eat there had we been hungry. It had an upmarket feel about it and I would happily recommend a visit. We wish them luck with their new business. Thanks again!!!

A friend and I went here this morning and had the breakfast thyme sharing board. It was absolutely delicious! So well presented. The staff are super friendly and it's a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

A small independent brunch spot, with lovey chilled vibes, welcoming staff, great coffee and food. What an absolute wonderful place for brunch. Food is all freshly cooked to order, (so if it’s busy, there may be a waiting time .. but It’s worth the wait 😍 ) generous portion sizes for the money. We have eaten here twice, ordered different things and both times been very happy with the food and service we have received. Presentation is delightful. I can’t wait to go again and try another dish from their lovely menu.

Extremely long wait for any kind of service. Drinks, being brought menus and our food which was a simple bacon and sausage sandwich took almost an hour and a half to arrive. I would have been understanding had one of the waitresses came and apologised, however, my Mum had to go up and ask when the food would arrive after an hour of waiting. My sister who ordered the hummus dish was served shop-bought hummus after we saw the chef walk in the front door with it! After querying when the food would arrive, the server was making comments regarding it saying 'why can't people just wait'. I understand this is a new business, but an apology goes a long way or even a warning when being seated. The food was okay when it finally did arrive, but would not return. We were one of 3 tables who all complained of the same thing one after another.

Waited 75 mins for food on sunday 12th March. My daughter ordered the hummus . After an hour of waiting we saw a member of staff with 2 tubs of bought hummus entering the restaurant. People who ordered afterwards got their food first at that stage I queried our order. The waitress went and checked wen our food would arrive which was 10 mins later. Two of our dishes were ok but the hummus dish was freezing cold. One of the waitresses was making comments to the other one and pulling faces wen I queried the wait for food . Would not return and was very disappointed .

Shown a table as soon as we arrive...15 minutes untill a menu is given . Then 40 minutes untill food is brought out...which was wrong to what we ordered. My order was salmon on brioche which was a simple roll. Wife had Smash Advocado with a poached egg on gluten free toast. Wife food came out on Normal bread, So sent back, then it came out with no poached egg. Mine was a simple slice the brioche and stick a bit of salmon on...all in all a poor show for a breakfast. Staff gave no indication of any problems in the kitchen or advised any delays. No appologies of over an hour to serve food. Felt sorry for the people who ordered after us and were sat there bemused. As they say got to try at least once and once is all I need.

Ate here today and how refreshing to see a young, independent business thriving! Was really busy even with a queue outside. Staff couldn’t have been more attentive given how busy it was. I’d have been concerned if fresh cooked food was out in five minutes and let’s be honest there’s worse places to be sat, having a coffee waiting for excellent food. Will be back again in the week!

Such a beautifully decorated, newly opened place on Southside street. Got the greek yoghurt bowl and it was too gorgeous to even dig in - but once i did, it was so yum! Latte was great too. Definitely my new go-to spot.

A good atmosphere with delightful food and wonderful service. The portions were of a really good size and value for money, there were people waiting the entire time we were there, who were accommodated without anyone being rushed out of their seats. I’m already excited to go back and try more on the menu.
