I use this little café for my weekly coffee fix, but this time we decided to get some lunch. They have a small, but delicious offering of various sandwiches, salads and porridges (they're not just for breakfast). Two flat whites and a Hey (red) Pesto toastie with salami ordered. The toastie was amazing and the coffees just as good as always. Gutted we didn't get the creme egg brownie! Pop in, very hipster and great produce.

I had the pleasure of stumbling across this place when killing time before appointment. Best tasting porridge ever! Variety of different additions. I had the one with prunes soaked in earl grey, walnuts, honey and Greek yogurt.. so tasty! Good portion and as ran out of time I asked to take away which was no problem. Lovely service.Great coffee! Very small place so not suitable for children I would say in answer to other review.. plenty other places you can go to! I will definitely be back and highly recommend to friends!

The thing I remember about my visit to this place is that the staff were really friendly and chatty. Always a good start! I had a take away sandwich which was big and filling. If I had a criticism it’d be that the choice of sandwiches was limited but my sandwich was good and I’d happily eat here again.

We’d walked past this neighbourhood place several times & were always tempted by cakes & pastries in window. Good quality coffee & pastries with quick service. But really un-family friendly & best to avoid if you have a wee one. The place is tiny & you have to cram yourselves in on a rickety children’s picnic table to sit or stools. No space for prams or wheelchairs - can’t imagine it’s very accessible to those with mobility issues. Our baby fussed a bit as we were heading out & we got eye rolling & comments from patrons next to us - mainly students using WiFi. I didn’t feel comfortable nursing as there was no space & it was pretty clear they didn’t want us there. We bring the bubs everywhere with us in Edinburgh & have found it, like Sydney, to be a pretty family-friendly cafe culture. Have never had people be hostile to us like they were at Fieldwork. Haven’t felt that uncomfortable in a coffee shop in a long time & don’t think we’ll be back.

Wonderful place to have a quick coffee. Lovely minimalistic atmosphere as well, a bit hipster-ish. Next time I will be trying some of their food as well.

I love this place and it never disappoints. Good quality coffee, friendly staff and well baked, tasty cakes and bakes on offer. In the winter their hot chocs are a perfect tonic - I love the white chocolate one. I'm also partial to their banana loaf and brownies. It's a cute little place too- little school tables and benches and free WiFi. Winner. I also think it's great the selection of items they make for different dietary requirements - I've had some of their gluten free stuff just because it looked good and it was utterly delicious.

Really great atmosphere and beautiful aesthetic - the porridge bowls look fab too. I had the freshly baked pastry - delicious, food size and not overly expensive. Will be back!

Popped in here for lunch on Friday, having enjoyed some of their toasties last time we opted for their porridge bowls this time. Banoffie pie and fruit and nut porridge on order, both delicious and cracking value...Must have been around a half pack of almonds in the fruit and nut! Both bowls washed down with a flat white each. Will gladly continue coming in to this local café and enjoy what they have on offer.

This is now my go to coffee shop on the way to work. Great coffee in here, though be mindful it can be busy sometimes so a short wait could be on the cards! The pastry and cakes look good though I've not tried them. I have had the stramboli and it's highly recommended!

We were looking for a place to have breakfast and we got caught by the very nice aspect of the croissant this shop has. We went inside and we weren't disappointed. We had salmon, coffee, cakes...lot of food!!! The place is very cute, only few tables but this is what it makes it so sweet!

This place has the kind of hip authenticity that the big chains aim for - but cannot begin to achieve. It has definitely been fitted out on a low budget - buffet tables and chairs, naked lightbulbs and coffee sack instead of drawer fronts on the cabinets. I found the weighing of espresso measures on small postal scales especially endearing, and the tap arrangement over the wash hand basin could only have been fitted by somebody who found they needed a mixer tap but they only had a box of assorted plumbing fittings - quirky! Oh the Cappuccino and cake were excellent as well. Enjoy a relaxing hour reading a book or browsing the web. (Good WiFi)

As with Margaret Mead's investigations with the Troubriand Islanders visiting this cafe brings great rewards. Beautiful cakes and soups, excellent coffee and very friendly staff. Cosy venue too.

I’m a simple man, I mean that in both intellect and taste. So when I came to fieldwork for breakfast, I came across a difficult choice for breakfast; there were no eggs on the menu and no beans that day, I was faced with a decision to make. Fight or flight. I ordered toast, but mainly because my friends ordered food and I didn’t want to be ‘that guy who stands in the cold and stares though the window’. The coffee I ordered was strong and I felt like it could end up being just a few nights sleep before Christmas with this amount of caffeine in veins. But just like modern art, not everyone gets it, no matter how hard you stare or cross your eyes. I think that this place is great if you fancy a hip joint to eat avocado on sour dough. But if you want a full English, go across the road and wait 10 minutes with everyone else. (I’ll be doing this tomorrow).

Work near to Fieldwork and have wanted to try their coffee for a while. Stopped off with a colleague and ordered a latte and a flat white to take away. Coffee is excellent and reminded me of the latte's i had on holiday in Italy this year. If you like your coffee strong and full flavoured with the right balance of milk then would recommend Fieldwork rather than the huge milky yuk you get from the various chain coffee shops.

Stopped off here for breakfast during the festival and pleased that we did. Lovely and lively little cafe with good food, excellent play list and prompt and friendly service. The selection of topping for the muesli offering and porridge offerings is great. The tea selection is good and the flask of hot water is a nice touch.

Great music, great cider, the food is as good as vegan food gets if you are into it and still very good if you're not. Nice people
