Festival Food and Drink in Liverpool

Absolutely top stuff from this place. This food was up there with some of the best I’ve had in Liverpool, for starters we had the wings and pork belly (port belly was divine), then for our mains we had a smash burger and salmon which were both delicious as well. We were looked after and treated really well from all of the staff. Highly recommended!!

We ordered a dish with pot roast, on the first experience the dish came with meat which was the main item of the dish, when we ordered the same dish for dinner the next day it came completely different, with only meat sauce and ONLY POTATOES!!!! Horrible service that did not give the slightest importance to the problem.

The food is good, the service correct. The place you go to for the history of the Beatles is located on the same street but independent of The Cavern. Good atmosphere

Lovely dinning place,right on liverpools night life hub accross from the beatles cavern bar, we turned up on busy saturday night with no reservation and even tho they were busy they fit us in, we had kind of given up on getting in anywhere as everwhere was full, we were elated after pointless trudging round not to mention grateful and it did not disappoint, the staff were lovely ,happy and helpful food was delicious, cosy welcoming atmosphere, good choice menu very fair prices good choice of cocktail drinks all making a very enjoyable night in the vibrant night life on mathew street, fab! without the four.

Easy to find on Liverpool’s iconic Mathew Street, directly opposite the legendary Cavern Club, The Cavern Restaurant could easily chuck up a few photos of the Fab Four and trade on location and hungry fans passing by, believing in Yesterday. The Cavern Club itself, a cornerstone of Liverpool’s music scene, opened its doors on January 16, 1957, before becoming synonymous with the rock and roll movement. It famously hosted The Beatles in their formative years, solidifying its place in music history. We visited the Cavern Club for a drink first, and saw a nostalgic band dressed in ties and vests played music of the historic period, as patrons wandered around looking at the walls and merchandise while having a drink and imagining what it must have been like back when it was what it was. Like many other fans probably think of doing, I figured after that we might as well head across the street to the Cavern Restaurant afterwards because it was right there. We’d had a long day of following the history of the Beatles and it seemed like a fitting end to the day. When we entered the restaurant, it was buzzing with patrons who, like us, were drawn by the magnetic pull of the Beatles lore of Liverpool. I had low expectations, thinking the restaurant would trade purely on their theme and proximity to the famous location opposite. I thought I’d be eating Ringo Rolls and Sgt Pepper’s Steaks. However, the culinary experience well and truly exceeded my expectations. The menu featured dishes that were both hearty and refined. The kitchen, helmed by a skilled and dedicated father and son team, showcased a commitment to quality and creativity. Their professionalism and passion was evident in every bite. The wait staff and bar staff were friendly and professional. The waitstaff navigated the bustling environment well. Conversations flowed easily between neighboring tables, united by a shared appreciation for The Beatles. Lots of us were visiting from all around the world, and enjoying the vibrant ambiance of the restaurant. Everyone we spoke (and by the end of many drinks we spoke to quite a few), and they all commented how impressed they were with their meals, so I’m confident to recommend it. In a locale that could easily rely on its historical significance to draw crowds, The Cavern Restaurant impressed us by delivering a dining experience that stands on its own merit. Anyone seeking to indulge in Liverpool’s rich cultural tapestry while enjoying a quality meal in a warm setting would do well to book in here.

I am a massive food snob and very picky about ordering steak. Why would I order it when I can cook it better myself??? Well tonight 😳 I didn't only have the best meal I've ever had... It was steak 🥩 the best steak I have ever had. I even asked to speak to the chef. Sadly now. I will never be able to say. I can cook it better. I know have to travel. 3 hours 30 mins. The truth is that we went without a reservation and without knowing, but we liked it a lot. They treated us amazingly and the food was very delicious. We ordered soup and fish and chips, and it was very well fried, not heavy. The desserts were homemade. So highly recommended.

We walked in and asked for a table for 3 , to which there were plenty of empty tables, The misrible looking waitress said there was no avalibility , my mum tried to ask when we might get a table and the waitress just walked away , Afterwards another 4 guests were turned away , no reason given , no reservation signs on the tables , All of the staff looked misrible wont bother wasting our time next time we visit Liverpool Slug and Lettuce made us really welcome

We went to the Cavern Club in Liverpool for my 50th birthday celebration with a party of 20, hoping for a memorable evening. We’d pre-booked our meals as requested, and even dropped off a birthday cake and some other items in advance to be set up on the table. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. Service was incredibly slow, with a two-hour wait just to get drinks, and staff seemed unsure about who ordered what. Mistakes on the bill added to the frustration. Despite being refunded for some food that was acknowledged as below standard, it didn’t make up for the disorganisation. The cake we brought was forgotten entirely, and after multiple reminders, we finally gave up after three hours and just asked for it to be handed back so we could leave. The manager was nowhere to be seen, leaving young waitstaff to deal with everything alone, which wasn’t fair on them. If you’re planning a meal for a large group, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. The venue is iconic, but sadly, the service really let it down.

Amazing food here every meal was full of flavour, beautifully presented and so so tasty. Friendly staff make for an awesome atmosphere. Great for area for any fan of live music.

After a full day of remembering and learning more about the Beatles, we stopped in to top up on some fish and chips. On this trip to the UK we have had this meal several times and compared with the fish and chips we had already had, this was lacking. The thick batter disguised a small portion of fish. The service was good (timely, friendly and accurate) but the atmosphere was a little dull.

Went for the set menu on a hen weekend. The service was good considering there were 15 of us. The atmosphere was great. The food was lovely. Don't know what people expect for the price. We loved it. Would recommend it, and the deco was great.

My girlfriend and I decide to have dinner here. The burger and meat in general are some of the best we have ever tasted in all of Europe. So good that the next evening we returned and they gave us a great lesson in civility: we ordered and drank a beer, while we were waiting for the food my girlfriend felt unwell and we decided to leave. The staff were immediately helpful, advising us on the nearest hospital and didn't even charge us for the beers that had already arrived. Friendliness, availability and unprecedented kindness, amazing food.

The restaurant is lovely, the staff were very attentive and friendly. My wife had the bruschetta starter and the scouse stew which were both delicious. I was not as lucky with my choices. I had simple garlic bread and cheese starter which was really undercooked. Instead of it being crispy it was starchy as it was undercooked. My main course was the beefburger. This came with a bun that was not toasted which spoilt the burger completely. Before I left I said to the lovely waitress that I was not overly happy with the burger and before I said anything she said " your not happy with the bun being not toasted and I don't know why the chef does that". Obviously I was not the first to complain about this. Please chef, listen to your customers and toast the buns.

Huge portions of food, tasty too. Friendly staff. Only disappointment was the toilets, could have been a bit cleaner.

The place it’s nice, fish and pork were really good and they had a great selection of wine, which is a plus in that zone of Liverpool, was a good experience in general.

Food was nice, alittle dear though. The female servers were not friendly at all. Frowns on their faces the whole time they served us...

Tortilla chips is very bad, all bought in ingredients. You can literally taste it they are bought in guca Bruschetta is very very salty, all is overly seasoned, and they slice some Parmesan on top too, to make it extra salty. Garlic bread, not much garlic flavor, very less butter. Taste blend again Scouce is normal, not so good not so bad

Terrible service, waitress forgot to put our order through we waited 40 mins before I asked, she was clueless, then we had a voucher 15% off, she said yes that's fine then forgot to take it off the bill, memory span of a fish. Shocking experience

After a very cool visit to The Cavern Club, we went across the street for dinner. The food and service was excellent, in a fun and lively environment, adding to our Mathew Street experience and memories. Unfortunately, I left my hat behind and was pretty mad at myself as it was a souvenir cap from a great trip we had to Florida! I got in touch with the restaurant and, not only did they find and hold the cap, they also went out of their way to mail it back to me! Thank you, Marcos, for going the extra mile! And keep doing what you are doing, you run a great restaurant!

We were a group of 19 on Friday night and I couldn't praise this place more, everything was perfect, the food was amazing, all the cocktails were delicious and the service was so friendly and quick as well! Nothing was too much trouble, I know from years experience that hen parties are a pain to deal with and I'm sure we were no different but you'd never know it😂 Also everything about the booking/preorder process was so organised as well, thanks a million for a great night, I'll definitely be back some time!

Amazing restaurant not far from where we were staying, we opted for the set menu which was excellent value especially for the great quality of food we received. Complimentary garlic bread was given to us when we sat at our table. The best chicken wings I’ve ever had, and a juicy delicious burger followed. We shared a slice of cheesecake which was delicious! Super friendly staff and an issue with the bill was resolved promptly and professionally! Just across from The Cavern Club it’s a great spot for pre drinks or a bite to eat beforehand.

Fantastic atmosphere as you are surrounded by all the buzz of the Cavern Club and Matthew Street in general. The food was great, I had the veggie scouse which was a real treat and the prices aren't over inflated for being in a touristy spot which is nice. It's a fun spot to have tea if you're on holiday and I'd reccomend it to a friend.

Teriyaki Chicken pasta was over-garnished which spoilt the taste and definitely not as good as Chinese noodles in Singapore.

Very pleasant festive atmosphere on a busy street. Small menu but with a nice variety. Children are pampered with an interesting choice of meals and drawing with many colored pencils. Scouse, a local dish, is tasty.

Very friendly people and when they heard we were from Belgium they instantly began to speak french, except for the fact that we don’t speak French we really appriciate them for trying!!!

The cuisine is not necessarily perfect (but not bad either!) but, in reality, what makes the place charming is above all its location, its setting and its historical interest. Absolutely go there to soak up the atmosphere of the “Cavern” district!

Skip the Cavern Restaurant, Liverpool! While the location might be ideal for Beatles fans, the food and service left a lot to be desired. The food was a major letdown. For the price, I expected something more exciting than what seemed like basic pub fare and even with just a few tables occupied, the service was incredibly slow. We practically needed a Fab Four singalong to pass the time! To top it off, there was a service charge that felt excessive.

The historic alley of Cavern Club is a landmark in the city of Liverpool and of England. This restaurant, right opposite to the “Cavern Club,” is a delight. They have good food with an ambience perfect for those who love progressive rock music. We tried their appetizers, the meat (pork belly) and the vegan halloumi, and they were delicious. The service was reasonably swift and the staffs were very nice. It’s a great business overall, both for its location (for the obvious reason) and service. Beatles lovers please go and have a try!

The delicious food. The service is good. We only didn't like that one of the guys took our drink order and asked only me, he brought me my order and he brought my companion what he decided, he didn't ask my companion.

Dined here this evening with my wife and 2 kids. We were served by the amazing Rose. The food was gorgeous (fish and chips x 2 and noodles) and drinks hit the spit. We will be back.

I was there 3 days ago and chose due to the extensive gluten free menu. I ordered the GF chicken sandwich - i ended up with food poisoning from it. I am still sick a few days later which put a wrench in my vacation. It seems the food is left out too long or not properly cleaned. I have had this happen before due to lack of proper cleaning or prep standards.

We’ve been in England for a week - London, Market Bosworth and Liverpool for a soccer trip with our son’s soccer team. The best fish and chips I have ever eaten. The battery is crispy and special I think deep fried oil must be changed very regularly to keep the fish and chips golden colour..Very fast service and pleasant service. I would like to thank to the 👨‍🍳.

Atmosphere was good but found we were on a high table with tall bar chairs even though we had booked weeks in advance. The burger was awful, like so many have commented it's so salty and must be the cheapest burger they could sauce. Service wasn't anything great. It's a shame as we were so looking forward to visiting this restaurant. It seems is relies on it's name to get the custom.

I have to say the Service. Jamie was our waitress and she was a pleasure to have. We are from America and we will defiantly use our experience with Jamie to express our time at Liverpool. The cavern is vertically lucky to have a beautiful and friendly person like Jamie.

Came here for our first taste of authentic Scouse after being in the Cavern Club and it was wonderful! Very tasty and warming, perfect for a cold February day.

Great food, but service could be better. I asked for juice without ice, they brought me juice with ice, half a glass of ice. We ordered mushrooms in cream - they didn’t bring it. They reminded them again, but there was no point. So we never saw them.

The soup of the day (carrot and coriander I think) was lovely. The bread nice and fresh... My wife's starter of garlic bread was delicious too... My wife said the burger wasn't the greatest, lacked flavour, was too salty and a bit dry and having looked at it, I'm glad I didn't order it as it looked very average and the patty was very tight which is never a good sign!... My main of fish and chips was mainly fine and the batter excellent... There were nowhere near enough mushy peas (about a table spoon)... Maybe they could swap some chips for more peas which would give the dish much more balance!... My wife's cheesecake was okay, nothing special but the crumb on the plate was very nice and quite unique... My brownies were awful... Dryer than Gandhi's flip-flops and for the first time ever, I left some dessert... I ate it until the ice cream ran out and left the rest as it was like eating cardboard... For me to leave a pudding, it must be bad... I've never done that ever in my life as i will basically normally eat anything sweet... The staff were all lovely but missed out on attentiveness at times and forgot to bring something when asked... Maybe if they spent less time flirting with each other then they would be a little more alert... One barman kept dropping glasses and plates lol... He even dropped his cutlery when going for his dinner so I'm guessing he was new and was nervous... He kept us amused though and hopefully he keeps his job haha as he seemed like a nice lad.... Overall for the money, it wasn't bad... I expected it to be like a tourist trap but it really isn't that far off being a great place to eat, they just need to work on some attention to detail.

Dreadful experience ordered rib eye steak never have seen so much fat on a steak before and the waitress was rude and non caring just wanted to stand talking at the counter. Do not recommend this place and the price was astronomical

Service was lovely, the vibe was great, drinks were good and it was lovely watching the merriment go by on the street outside. Food was subpar, we ordered just something light (garlic bread and calamari) and both were woeful.
