Crust in Liverpool

I visited here to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. I have visited before and was impressed. I noticed a few recent, negative reviews about this place but I decided to still go as it was my daughter’s birthday restaurant choice from restaurants in the whole of Liverpool. We were greeted and seated swiftly. Staff were very attentive. The food was fabulous whilst also being good value for money, we were actually surprised when we received the bill that it wasn’t more expensive. Everyone should try the garlic dough balls (you get a lot so we shared them perhaps one side between 2-3 people.) All the drinks and food were lovely. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Just one little negative the knives need to be sharper to cut the pizza more easily.

We needed somewhere to eat, and we're walking up Bold Street, checking places out. We looked at the menu's at Crust and looked inside, and it looked quite nice. At this point, a Crust employee came out and asked us if we'd like to come in (we watched him for the next hour or so, and this seems to be his job!). Anyway, we went in and were seated at a table. It was busy and service was quite slow, but it was Saturday night, and this suited us as we wanted a relaxed family meal where we could chat. Between us we ordered pizzas and pastas, everyone was happy with what they received, it was fresh and tasty.

I have never had better pizza outside of Italy. And few inside of Italy were a match for this. Wow!! Sim play superb. Pleasant and relaxing staff, wine was amazing. I’ll be back for sure. Try this place and you’ll thank me for the recommendation.

We usually eat at Crust in Liverpool 2 or 3 times a year at least as a family but won’t be going back in a hurry. We had a belated Mothers Day meal, a bit of a treat. My daughter & I have gluten free pizzas and usually they are fantastic from Crust. Unfortunately we received our pizzas a good 10-15 minutes after my other 3 family members - who were eating slowly so we could all eat together. I didn’t mind this so much but when our gluten free pizzas finally arrived the dough in the main body of the pizzas was pretty raw & undercooked. Outer crust was fine but main pizza base was gelatinous and raw! I did not want to spoil the evening with the rest of the family by complaining but felt physically nauseous after eating 1/2 of it. I did try my daughter’s pizza & it too was way undercooked! This was supposed to be a treat & Crust has previously been decent, especially for us gluten free customers but we won’t be going again! We saw large ‘Just Eat’ orders going out and can’t help but wonder if they have the staff & ovens to accommodate the demand. Really disappointed. Even though I didn’t complain about the undercooked dough the staff were friendly :) I left some pizza without the topping or crust so they could see how raw it was!

Excellent ambiance, delicious food, cold beer. If you're undecided, George will know exactly what to recommend. We will definitely come back. Matei

Had a late birthday meal here for a relative. Fantastic service and great food.. Place was clean and tidy. most ordered pizza and were very happy.. Had one small issue with one plate but waitress was quick to solve it with kitchen, very impressed 👍 family friendly especially. Will be back for another family event April. Fair price too. Wish I got waitress name, was excellent, if I see her next time I’ll get her name and review again ,

Absolute disgrace waiting 45 minutes for food. other people who came in later got their food before us. Alot of food is being sent back to the kitchen. Don't bother coming here. Attitude of man in grey jacket bad

Really poor pizza, undercooked in the centre. Fries were mostly raw. Waited nearly an hour for the food to come.

Today I was first time and was good. Very professional staff. Pizza is not perfect but good. the bottom of the pizza was burnt, when we reported it to the waiter he took the pizza away and made us a new one

Crust has been a family favourite for years. We have celebrated birthdays, good news, all sorts at Crust. Every time we have been, the service has been amazing. We have a nearly 2 year old, and leaving the house can feel very overwhelming. But the atmosphere is so relaxed and the staff are so kind. They even got my little one a side plate and spoon so he could enjoy his dinner properly! Little things like that make all the difference. If I was to be super picky, the only thing would be if they were able to put together a children's menu. My little one loves lasagne, as do I, so having to share mine isn't ideal as I want to eat it all myself! But cannot recommend enough.

Went here while over to watch the football. Wife and myself were directed to our seat. Ordered our drink and food by a confused person that kept looking at another table while taking our order. Wrong drinks were sent down. We then got the correct drinks. We then waited 45 mins while people came in after us were served. Waiter had made a mess of our order. Down it came and the pizza had a decent base but the sauce tasted like it came straight out of a tin. It was loaded with heavy duty cheese thinking more is better. The standard mistake. Our side was Cheese and garlic focaccia. No taste of garlic and extreme layer of thick chewy cheese. We did not finish it. Called for the bill , same waiter took the money, a £50 note. They near sh*t themselves and had never had so much cash presented to them before and didn’t know how to deal with the change I was due!😂 Anyway, I went up to be told by the wee blond girl that they had to give me £7 change in 5p and 20p pieces. I said unacceptable and was not going to carry around Liverpool 50-60 coins in my pocket. Mexican stand off until they miraculously found £1 coins to give me back. When presenting me with this the girl said that I was not to come back in again unless I had the exact money to pay 😂.

Absolute worst pizza I've ever had in my life came out Black on the crust was told. This is how it normally is. The middle was wet and soggy like a pancake Made me sick. Plus the waiter saying listen love this is what it is love

I'd had a skinfull by the time I got into the restaurant, so this maybe a skewed review. The place was really busy but we managed to get a table. The pizza's were excellent and even though it was busy, the service was excellent! Highly recommended, just book in advance.

Best pizza I tried so far, friendly staff and amazing atmosphere and drinks.

Popped in for food on a Friday night. They quickly found us a table and took our orders. Pizzas were sourdough and the crust was delicious and the topping generous and tasty. Imported italian beer with a choice of more than just lager. Service was polite and attentive but not over-bearing. Overall a step up from the standard pizza place.

3 out of 4 meals were spot on. Service was food. Price was good. The only issue was my meal. Supposed to be Ndjua (sp) spaghetti but was just spaghetti with Pesto. Didn't complain as I didn't want to ruin everyone else's meal. Strange, as everything else was good. Ah well, I'll pick something else next time.

Went here last night on 29th December for a meal with my daughter. Was very busy but they got us a table. (Never been before). Meal was lovely. Service was really good - waitress was lovely. Really nice to have a nice meal with my daughter. Thank you 👍 Advice - would appreciate nicer chips that frozen french fries. Homemade chunky chips would be amazing.

Chanced across this place on a Saturday nite and decided to try it as we saw available seats from the outside. We had the minestrone soup with great bread sticks - hearty comfort soup on chilly evening, a napoletana pizza and a lasagne. None of the food disappointed nor the service. Disappointed that their IPA ran out . Bill came to £50 plus drinks. Worth another visit

Had a lovely meal, we both enjoyed the food, it was good service, plenty of attention from servers, was busy but didn't have to wait long, well worth a visit.

We have been many of times usually at lunch but came for dinner last night with our son as he just loves the pizza here - 5/5 for us 🤩🤩🤩

We came for dinner and ordered a lasagna and chicken burger. Food arrived and the lasagna was completely burnt and was beyond being edible. Notified the manager and he came over picked up the dish and didn't say anything at all and took it away. We were both really confused as he didn't say whether it was going to be recooked or even brought back again. Waited a while and I finished my meal and still no communication or an apology so we decided to get the bill. A server came over with the bill and asked if everything was ok which we replied no, the manager hid behind the till and didn't even come to reconcile as we were clearly upset. Shocking managerial skills then worst service I've ever had at a restaurant.

The food was excellent, super yummy, and came very quick- was very impressed! Will be back again to try other items of the menu as there was loads of choice and a number of options that caught my eye!

I cannot eat garlic and they made sure that my choice of food was garlic free. The pizza crust was light, a lovely meal and good service.

Mala experiencia. Fui yo solo a comer, una sola persona, y me hicieron esperar 55 minutos mi plato de comida. Para ese entonces ya me habia terminado mi cerveza, lo cual solicite por favor si me traian otra en compensacion, y asi lo hicieron (un vasito pequeño). La comida no estaba mal, pero la verdad que no pase una linda experiencia

One of the best pizzas I've had for the delicious crust and simplicity. Went here two nights in a row with family. First night we had stumbled in on a Sunday night looking for something to eat after 9 pm. They were open, which was nice. Had the Margherita pizza. So good. Simple ingredients and delicious crust. My sister ordered a couple desserts - the fried dough balls with lotus spread and a cheesecake in a cup thing. Both were delicious. Second night ordered the fried prawns - really great flavor and split it with another sister. Ordered the Margherita again because what can I say - I loved it. Someone in our party ordered the Lasagna and despite being on the salty side, had a ton of meat in it and was delicious. Both nights our server (different ones each night) was attentive and quick and helped manage our two large parties. Was visiting Liverpool, so not sure when I'll be back, but if you like simple neopolitan style pizza, go here. You won't regret it.

Such a lovely authentic Italian restaurant, Polite friendly staff , but best of all we had the best Italian dish we have tasted , highly recommend the Strasinati , also the side dish of fries with cheese and garlic bellisimo 😘 Can’t wait to revisit .

Dro til Crust etter å ha sett gode anmeldelser på Tripadvisor. En av oss spiste innbakt pizza som var bra. Den andre pizzaen var en capricciosa. Den var svartbrent i kantene og ikke spesielt bra. Det var mye folk og høy støynivå som gjorde at vi ikke satt lengre enn høyst nødvendig.

The pizza was very good, great crust and the toppings were very tasty. We also ordered some pasta and was ver good. The place is great overall.

The pizza's were sloppy messes with watery sauce, cheap toppings and tasted like pure salt and the carbonara was cold, tasted shop bought and a portion that was so small it was more like a starter.

I have to say that this is one of the WORST eating experiences I have ever had. We arrived at 3pm, so not during the lunch or dinner rush. Sat down and ordered some drinks, which were nice, a baileys iced latte and a beach iced tea. I ordered the seafood linguine but asked if the linguine could be swapped out for penne as linguine can be a bit messy - also a side of the pancetta and smoked cheese fries. My friend ordered the steak wrap, pesto and Parmesan dough balls and some plain fries. My pasta dish arrived with the seafood boiling hot, but the pasta was cold. The server kindly took this away to have it sorted, I then tasted the fries, the fries where hot but the pancetta, cold - so the poor server had to come back and take these way too. My friend said her food was ok, however the dough balls were cold, the flavourless pesto just sort of slopped on top, was ice cold. My food was brought back in about 3 minutes steaming hot - clearly microwaved - reheating seafood?? Really?? The majority of the mussel shells were empty as there was no sign of the mussels in the pasta. Tasteless and just generally off putting, I admitted defeat and left the meal. I told the server that it was the worst food I’d ever had when they came to remove the dishes. They said that they would speak with the manager and I also brought up my concerns with the obvious microwave use and they said that they would report this back too. The server came back to say the manager had applied a 10% discount to the bill (£5) I told them that I didn’t mind paying for the bill, however I was not paying for the pasta dish at all. At this point, you’d think a manager would come to apologise and basically do their job, no, they sent the poor server back to say the discount had been upped to 20% which was the equivalent of a pasta dish. I felt sorry that the guy seemed to have been left by his manager to act as a go between- and in fairness when we mentioned the dough balls, he even said that didn’t appeal to him. Not that we’d like to be invited back, but never in a million years would I return to this- revolting food, poor standards with regard to reheating and a complete lack of interest from the manager on shift. Thankfully our server was a nice guy who just got lumbered with a less than decent shift manager.

Food was great would highly recommend. Maybe go at a quieter time. Service was slow though waited over an over an hour and a bit for ours to arrive. Few other people leaving before there's came. Seems as though struggle to keep up with both demand in the restaurant and deliveroo orders. Maybe issue with staffing or something but those serving us were friendly. Could turn music down a bit too.

Lovely spot in Bold Street for great pizza and pasta. Never disappoints! Delicious! We sat outside as we had our dog with us and were served by Justina who was super friendly and even brought our dog a bowl of water. Will defo be back again!

Die beste Pizza die ich persönlich je gegessen habe, und der Preis war dafür voll in Ordnung. Ich kann es nur wärmstens weiterempfehlen, die mit Parmesan, Mozzarella und einem Käseball in der Mitte war meine Wahl und ich bin sehr zufrieden. Das Motto des Restaurants handelt darum, dass die Kruste so gut ist, dass man sie mitessen muss und das kann ich verifizieren.

We arrived and were promptly taken to a table, after about 5minutes we ordered our food off a gentleman server who was quite miserable and short with us. After ordering our food and drinks which were a jug of water, a juice and a sparkling juice we waited over half an hour just for our drinks before leaving as not even our started which was only a bruschetta had been brought to us by this time and but we watched as 3 other tables had been brought in after us and had been served their food and drinks before even our water had been brought to us. Our server not once came to tell us anything was on its way even though the restaurant was less than half full. The other staff seemed nice enough with their tables and I was shocked by how this experience was as I have been here before with no issues but I don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon as the service was shocking

So many pizzas where cheese is a supplement. I really don’t understand this! Pizza arrived in good time but middle as thin as tracing paper, soggy and dough was raw- sent back to be told it’s my mistake as I choose mozzarella that makes the pizza wet! They replaced the pizza - came Back out - so thin I could see the plate through it! Nobody asked if we enjoyed our meal- no offer to reduce the bill. My friend also didn’t enjoy his pizza. Won’t be back

Amazing food and service, Pablo went through the menu and different pizza bases, so we knew exactly what we were Ordering. The carbonara was the nicest. I'd ever had also had a delicious strawberry lemonade. Thanks again, Pablo Will definitely be back.

Wow. Just amazing.. !!! Tried the Pesto dough balls and Vegan Pizza. It was divine. The portion size was really good and flavours were bursting. Would definitely try here again. They don't close very early at night as well which was a blessing. Highly recommended.

The delivery was late, for the second time now. This time 1h30m late. Arrived cold, without explanation nor sorry. I texted the delivery driver twice. No response was given. When the delivery guy arrived, was a different one than the showing on the app. When asked, he said was just delivering it when was told to. Disappointed with the restaurant, for the second time..

From starters to mains I loved everything. Only drawback was the service when they forgot to bring the main course.

Staff were amazing! Food was really good too. Some places are really struggling because of the hospitality downturn after COVID, but this place rocks!

Have been going to this italian pizza place for awhile especially for the pizza. However it has been hit and miss when we go now for a number of years on the quality of pizza. Unfortunately this time the pizza was soft and the vegetarian pizza had hardly any of the variety of vegetable toppings. Also the service wasn't attentive and jug of water provided was warm and really horrible tasting. No acknowledgement of this even when stated and sent back. If it's service you are after not here - they don't appear to care.

I have visited Crust numerous times and it never fails to disappoint! Food is always so fresh and so delicious. It’s one of my favourite Italians for sure, will definitely be back for another visit!

Visited on a Friday lunchtime with our granddaughter. Asked for a kids menu to be told no, then asked another waitress she said smaller pizzas were available - maybe have a menu so it’s clear? Ordered 1 starter, this took over 40 mins to arrive....

Just a Super experience!!! Cheryl the manager was excellent!!!! My server, Leah was awesome, fellow waitstaff were spot on!!! The chicken/ bacon Cesar salad was unbelievable!!!! Pizza was spot on!!! Great Crust!!!

Both the guys on shift that day were super attentive and friendly. One of their names was Dan but I didnt get the other guys name! The food was really good too. I just got the Napoletana pizza which is simple but really good.

Amazing gluten free pizza - best I've ever had in 10+ years. Nothing I've found in London that beats it. Super-friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Definitely coming back a second time whilst in Liverpool for a short break!

Stay away from the pasta, can’t comment on the pizza as I never tried it but the pasta was horrible. It was like water and left over pasta was thrown in scraps of frozen seafood. Wine was also abysmal. Pasta 2.3/10 Chips - 2.5/10 Dough...

DO NOT go here if you have children ! This restaurant is NOT safe for children ! The plates are piping hot we are not talking heated. Steam coming off the children’s meal plates. The glasses the children are served with are tall adult size...
