Ferndown Spice in East Dorset

Myself and my wife visited last night. Lovely food, particularly enjoyed my peshwari nann, the condiments with the poppadoms were very tasty. Best Indian restaurant in Ferndown 🙂👍

Four of us came last night and the food was just incredible, my husband especially loved trying the the lamb paneer shashlik for the first time. All the waiters are so accommodating and friendly, helpful and go above. Banquet night is such great value, portions are huge. 10* Joy 😋

Seven of us visited here on Saturday night whilst staying in Ferndown on the basis of reviews.Wasn’t disappointed.Food ,which we ordered far too much was first class and really well presented,plentiful and extremely tasty,staff were knowledgable and very helpful and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great.Prices were more than fair .Just a shame its 60 miles away as we’d be frequent users .

This is our go to Indian. The staff are polite and professional and the food is consistently delicious, there is a wide range of dishes to choose from, although I stick to my old favourite. The banquet night is very good value . It is bring your own alcohol, however Joy sell a range of soft drinks including alcohol free beer. Definitely worth a visit.

Decided to try the Banquet Evening. Luckily we booked a table, arrived at 7 & the restaurant was busy. We've eaten here before & were very impressed, we decided to try the banquet evening and expected the menu & dishes to be smaller as it was a set & very reasonably priced, we were so wrong. The sizes were as large as normal, the food excellent. We started with lovely fresh crunchy poppadoms. The only dishes not available are fish, this made me try a different starter than normal and I had the Chicken Chat Puree, perfect, probably my new go to. The mains came and were delicious (butter chicken, lamb balti, mushroom rice & naan). We ended up taking home a doggy bag and couldn't even manage pudding or coffee - included in the price. Fab meal once again (also good takeaways), the staff are very friendly and even though very busy always were smiling and chatty and certainly did not rush us between courses.

While they no longer sell alcohol, they tell you when you book and are happy to serve your own if you take it with you. They will even keep in in the fridge. Food was great, and large portion compared to what we are used...

This restaurant has good reviews and I've been told that it was good food so I gave it a try. I wanted my food hot so I opted to collect the food myself rather that use the free delivery service; unfortunately the food was pretty cold by the time I made the short trip home so into the microwave it went.I ordered a chicken jalfrezi, a dish I have had many times before, but it wasn't great. Big pieces of chicken in a brown sauce with onions. No taste or spice and the only heat was from one chilli that I found in the bottom of the dish. My partner had a korma which she said was better, but maybe a little too sweet. We both ordered naan bread which again was cold and my garlic naan wasn't the best. I don't know if we had a bad day from this restaurant, but I will try the other restaurants in the area to see what they have to offer.

We have used this takeaway for years since living in ferndown but everytime we get a takeaway it’s a little bit worse, tonight’s feast was very Very sub par, I don’t normally complain but for £30 for 2 naans, 2 madras, 1 rice & 5 poppadoms you would expect it to be nice.Delivery would have been a while so I went to collect which I don’t mind I live locally about 2 mins round the corner We were so hungry we delved into the meal (one madras was meant to be mild but tasted like a watery korma with no spice and coco-nutty).The other madras for my partner was a swimming pool of water, basically water was running off the plate, and it was not spicy, the chicken was overdone so it was tough and our naans were burnt This is not somewhere where we’d usually get a bad meal from so we were very disappointed and will probably not be going back there again which is a shame as it’s 2 mins round the corner, I don’t know if there’s 2 different chefs but it has been so hit and miss we won’t be recommending it

Had takeout from Joy, we ordered by phone and collected 15 minutes later. Everything was great and very tasty. One of the nicest curries we have had.

We saw this place after coming out of another restaurant and having a poor experience, tried this a few days later and what a find. Staff attentive but not over the top. We live near Brighton and we would say this is the best we have tried in a really long time. So much so that we are coming back here when we next visit Dorset. My son and I had a Dhansak and the amount of prawns in my dish was just amazing and my son had plenty of chicken. Husband had his normal Korma and he has been telling everyone how much food and how creamy the sauce was. Great value for money. Please don't tell everyone, we wont to come back real soon.

We have be enjoying both take-aways and dining in at Joy Ferndown for over 8 years. The food is always fresh, hot and tasty. The service is exemplary whether you eat in or take away. Can not recommend enough!

Just had our fourth home delivery from The Joy. As usual delivered within the promised 40 minutes and very tasty and authentic. Just had Chicken Tikka Passenda, veg fried rice with Chicken Tikka starter. Now totally sated and looking forward to my next delivery. Warmly recommended.

It's been a few months since we last went to Joy in Ferndown, and I was wondering if it was still up to the standard of out last visit.Last time I had lamb jalfrezi, which was excellent. This time we had vegetable samosas as starters. These are quite substantial and very tasty,Then I had lamb dhansak, the sauce of which is made from lentils. Brilliant, of course, although I probably prefer the jalfrezi slightly. My wife had chicken tikka, which she enjoyed, although I found it slight dry - I prefer sauces with my dishes.Our vegetarian friend had garlic aloo and paratha.Again, far too much food and we weren't able to finish.Our reception by the waiter was a bit cool, but both waiters were very helpful later, and gave us advice on what to choose.

Go here regularly now and have taken many friends. Best Indian in the area. Banquet night on a Weds is amazing value for money. Great friendly service too,

Just been to Joy, the food was amazing, our waiter was lovely and even let my boyfriend try a taster of Phall, the red chilli dip is so good, they use spicy onions in it, very nice indeed, both our main dishes were delicious and we both agreed its the best Indian we've been to, and that is a fair few in the Bournemouth area, brilliant service and incredible food, we'll definitely be going again soon.

My wife and I haven't been to an Indian restaurant for a long time. So when a couple of friends invited us to Joy in Ferndown, we took up their offer.My friend and I ordered 2 lamb jalfrezi - one medium spice and the other more spicier, with boiled rice. The jalfrezi portions were more than sufficient and we couldn't eat all the rice as there was so much of it. I can't remember the last time I had eaten anything as delicious as this jalfrezi. Absolutely gorgeous!Our wives ordered the same chicken dishes, although I can't remember which. One was on the bone and the other off the bone, with one boiled rice between them. They both found them extremely tasty and the portions were again substantial, such that the couldn't manage to eat all their food.The service from all the staff was excellent.Well, after leaving the restaurant we decided it won't be long before paying them another visit.

Literally just finished our takeaway meal ordered via just eat, and was compelled to leave a positive review straight away. BEST INDIAN TAKEAWAY I have had in ages. Such high quality and tasty dishes. Will definitely be ordering from here again. We’d used another local Indian takeaway for a while but thought we would give this a try for a change and so glad we did. Lamb Bhuna for example was succulent and tasty and the lamb was fall apart tender. Garlic naan, was very garlicky but so fresh it was amazing. Can’t recommend the takeaway highly enough.

First visit as part of a group of 24. Service was slow, lighting too dim to properly see the food which wasn’t of great quality. Bar prices to high. Bill presented incorrect. There’s much better Indian food locally. I won’t be back.

A group of us were staying at a local holiday let and decided to treat ourselves to a takeaway. We placed a large order for a variety of mains/sides/sundries for delivery, and due to the size they waved the delivery charge, a welcome gesture. It arrived within an hour (as quoted) piping hot and looked great.Everything was really fresh, tasty and plentiful, everyone in the group commented it was one of the better curries they’d had. The Tikka Korai was very tasty. A great recommended Indian for locals and tourists!

The food we had a week ago sat in the restaurant was excellent. Decided this time for a takeaway. Ordered it on line through their website. Said I needed to wait 40 mins. No problem. Drove to restaurant to collect. They said didn’t get the order! Asked if I could wait another 15 mins. I asked them what’s the point if their system if they don’t check it! Refused n left. Pity.

The food here is amazing! Service is great - it's our new favourite in the area. Great decor with food coming to the table in good time, plus leaving decent times between courses.

I thought I would give this place a go and the menu looked good with lots of different options. So I went and ordered the tandoori fish bites which I did not dare to eat because the fish smell was to fishy to be fresh as I know from once working in a kitchen. I also ordered a Chicken Tika Bunha firstly it was not Chicken Tika the chicken had not been marinated at all or was it cooked in a tandoor, its was plain and tasteless. Now for the sauce when I opened the pot I was confronted to cooking Oil so much after draining it that there was only half the contents remaining. You could see where the oil and the “curry” had separated. The contents that I did manage to salvage had very little flavour and was not of good quality. With mushroom rice this totalled to around £18.00 which is more expensive compared to other local curry houses so I was expecting quality but got Just a bad taste in my mouth. Luckily I didn’t eat the fish.

Cant fault this restaurant in any way. Delightful menu that will set your palette alight. Excellent selection for any appetite. Vegan catered for as well as everyone else. This traveller says that if you are in Ferndowm and need a feed, you are going to go wrong here. Prices: Affordable +

We decided to have a takeaway meal to help celebrate a family birthday.We phoned our order through and stated a time for delivery.We were given our slot and prepared to take delivery. It didn"t matter to us but food came 45 minutes early- could have been a problem if some guests had not arrived at that time.The food was excellent,most of us choosing different dishes to somebody else. It was tasty and hot and reasonably priced too.We would certainly use them again.

Second visit after enjoying a really nice meal last time. Table booked for 8 30 and entering the restaurant, it was packed. Table vacant within 5 minutes and as two large parties were there, the waiter advised we order before them. Good call. Two mixed kebab starters were very tasty, so too was my Chicken Bhuna, Bombay Potato and pilau rice. My friend also enjoyed his first visit and his Chicken Balti with Keema Naan. Excellent food , decent portions and attentive waiting staff. A good experience again and I will be back again.

Cant fault this restaurant. The decor is pleasant, the service is good, the food is the best Indian around, feels clean and healthy. Tried a few dishes in the past and never been disappointed. Always full, any day of the week, best to book. Lovely place.

Went to Joy with friends and we ordered Rogan Josh, Goa Green curry, Sweet Chilli curry and a sizzling chicken dish. We expected the sweet chilli and the sizzling dish to be very mild, but both the Rogan Josh and the Goa curry had hardly any chilli heat either. My sizzling chicken dish was very tasty, the Rogan Josh very bland as well as too mild, the sweet chilli was much too sweet to be enjoyed as a full meal on its own, the fact we were all sharing dishes was the saving grace for this dish. The Goa curry was okay but could have done with more chilli. Rice sides were good as was the peshwari naan.The restaurant was not that busy for a Thursday night in early August.We used to go regularly to Joy and it was one of my favourite Indian restaurants, but this is the second time in a row that the food although not poor has been a bit disappointing. Makes me less inclined to want to return.
