So Friday night came around again, and it was inevitable that we'd end up popping in to the Spice of India for a takeaway. Service was great as always, friendly staff, comfortable seating while you wait (and not too long either) and a lovely cold pint of Kingfisher. I went off piste this time, had a prawn puri which was delicious and travelled well. Plenty of juicy prawns too! I followed this up with a dish I've not had here before - one of the chef's specials, the chicken naga. A good level of heat, certainly made me sweat, but beautifully balanced flavours. My wife had a chicken tikka pasanda, one of her favourites. Can sometimes be a bit 'coconutty' depending where you go, but this one was creamy - much more to her liking. I really can't recommend this place highly enough. They do delivery - expect them to be busy on a Friday and Saturday evenings. They don't take payment over the phone. They seem to be the main complaints from other reviewers. Neither of these are a problem for me.

Went here last night with our Daughter and Son in law who live locally and we were so impressed. The food is absolutely delicious. We all had different dishes and enjoyed our meals immensely. Happy smiling staff and a warm welcome on arrival, great service, very clean and a lovely atmosphere. I wish we lived nearer as would be here regularly. Highly recommend this restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

Great evening out catching up with friends

Live locally and have only ever got a takeaway from here but decided to try in restaurant. Sat down and were seated in a pretty “tired” restaurant. Wallpaper peeling off the walls and the ceiling has large cracks in it. Ordered some poppadoms and 2 of the 4 that arrived were stale and chewy. They replaced them but not sure why these aren’t cooked fresh. Only take minutes. The food itself was ok, nothing special but acceptable. Frustratingly two separate waiters stood on my foot which was tucked well under the table. A very small apology followed and was told “it happens”. Well I’ve never had it at a restaurant before let alone twice in the same meal, just don’t stand with your feet under the guests table would be a recommendation. Not sure we would return again for an in restaurant experience.

Great food. Worth drive from Sandy Ball holiday park where we are staying. Would eat here again.

Only thing I would change is I would like to order a few sides as a main, but menu says needs to be ordered with a main. Perhaps do main size portions of these side dishes. Staff are excellent.

Hidden gem new to me and they have Kingfisher beer

Gone down heel! Been going here for the last 10 years always been our favourite place to eat went tonight and unfortunately the service and atmosphere was completely different, obviously had new management/owners we could clearly see new management washing up plates in the bar area there were also a pile of dirty plates on the bar in view of all diners management eating in full view of all diners with very very poor table manners, all food took a very long time to come out, we were then given a desert menu the waiter then took back the dessert menu we were waiting to order our desserts no one came back to take our order we gave up and asked for the bill so at this point we payed and left! fizzy drinks were flat, food was cold and delivery drivers were counting cash being loud in full view of all customers. Would ask for a refund but realy do not want to go back!

So lucky to have the Spice of India in Verwood. Excellent choice of top quality Indian dishes with very attentive staff in a wonderful atmosphere. Reasonably priced with a complimentary drink when paying the bill!

Home delivery. Arrived quicker than expected. I only ordered a starter and a main ( without rice ) . The starter of shami kebab had a good texture and the right amount of heat, so all good there and reasonable value for money. However, the main was lamb korma, a few pieces of tough meat in an average sauce, rather disappointing at the price I paid.

We get a delivery- both times it has been really delicious- I want a curry from here every week now! Yum! I can’t add a photo because we have empty plates!

Just discovered Spice Of India, excellent food at a great price, delivered in the new forest with a smile, will certainly be booking a table next time 👍

Ordered on-line. 30 minute request for collection - agreed. Collection was on time. Worst Indian takeaway meal in recent experience. Chicken tikka masala was sweet, totally without authentic masala flavour & an unnatural vivid red colour. The Chilli Chicken Masala was served in exactly the same sauce but with the addition of a few raw chillis thrown in. The chicken biryani was bland & uninspiring. We shall not be ordering (or visiting) from this restaurant again.

Sorry that was not a good curry collected early evening so no pressure on the chef ordered two different main dishes they looked the same tasted the same and were a gloppy consistency and every thing was bright red (even the onion bhaji and the Bombay aloo ) too much food colouring !! Had to ditch it I’m afraid won’t be going back and to add to my woe when I got home short changed by £1.still the pampodoms and pilau rice made a nice meal for a Saturday night.

This is one of the best Indian restaurants in the area. The food is consistently good as is the service. They also deliver to our area and we have used them a lot. Only improvement would be the appearance of the tables etc. White tablecloths would smarten the place!

Banquet night is such good value for money. Fantastic meal, great company, and lovely surroundings with attentive service. Well done!

Haven't been here for years - delicious meals!!!

We are away camping and the Spice Of India Verwood menu is in the campsite reception so we assumed we could order a delivery to where we are staying. We rang up and placed our order only to be told that we can’t pay by card over the phone and they only take cash. Well we can’t get to a cashpoint and if we could then we’d drive to the takeaway and pick up our order. The guy on the phone said they couldn’t take payment by card over the phone so should they cancel it! Very disappointed in this day and age that they don’t have that facility as not everyone carries cash. Won’t be using them again, not impressed!

Just had a takeaway and coming from a morbidly obese man I’ve had some curry’s In my time but hands down it’s best food I have had in a long time good service would definitely recommend 5 star

As we were staying in .17. made sense to revisit this establishment for a take away after a busy day travelling around the area. The food is appetising and plenty of it, if anything too much. We settled for the mixed kebab starter with a chicken biriani and peshawar nan. Prices are on par with our local area (Pembrokeshire) cooked perfectly with just enough spice. If you're in Verwood, it's the place to visit for that size kick.

Absolutely amazing food and service. They were happy to adjust the food to our dietary requirements with no trouble at all. And the flavours were spectacular.

Be prepared for loud music from the flat above the restaurant spoiling your conversation and the staff doing nothing about it when you mention it.

Just had our first takeaway. Cannot fault the quality at all. Perfectly cooked, dishes tasted as they should, heat levels were exactly what you'd expect from a good Indian. The Ceylon was hot and up front with a nice warmth and good layers of flavour, the Vindaloo was earthy, rich and warm, building a slow burn to a good heat. Lime pickle tasted homemade, peshwari naan spot on. Arrived hot enough you'd think they're next door, not 20 minutes away. Seriously impressed 10/10 will be back all the time.

Bad from start to finish. I visited here the last time I lived in Verwood and the food was awful then (5 years ago) Decided to give it a second chance on Friday, surely things would’ve improved by now. Unfortunately not. The popadoms tasted of really old cooking oil. The onion bhajis had more potato in them than onion and had no seasoning, just utterly bland. I chose a dish that was described as chicken breast stuffed with vegetables…..inside the chicken breast was filled with yet more potato mixed with coriander leaves. The sauce was also very bland. My wife’s dish was chicken piazza (I think). The strips of chicken were dry and completely over cooked and again a very bland sauce. The garlic Naan bread was ok, just, but had clearly been cooked hours beforehand. The desert menu was literally thrown on the table with the waiter already turned around before it stopped moving across the table. It wasn’t that busy with only 4 occupied tables while we were there so no real excuse for such poor food. Maybe I’ll try again in 5 years time but it’s unlikely.

I want to give zero rating for this restaurant bcz we are from outside veerwood. When we search about Indian restaurants.we went there but it shows closed but when we saw in google it shows open 5:30 am to 11pm . We wasted so much time to go there. So can you please can the timings on google . Thank you

All the staff is nice and friendly specifically guy name Shahik he is very very nice and friendly person. I would highly recommend this place. I wish and hope they are doing good business.

Great food and very good service

Here for a celebration and had high expectations as recommended, very happy with the choice. Easy parking, friendly staff, nice decor, an extensive menu and lovely smells greeted us. Popadoms came out nice and hot with a good selection of chutney’s and onion salad. The Onion Bhajis were freshly cooked and a generous portion. My Medioum Chicken Balti was just the right spice temperature and the chicken was moist, nice breast. A plain naan was also made well and very freshly cooked. The staff were attentive and everything was done with no fuss. A very easy 5 stars from me.

Good food, good service, reasonable price, nice drinks. I’ve regularly eaten here for a couple of years. It is consistently very good.

Went with our young teenagers for the excellent banquet night which gives us a chance to try many dishes. As usual, due to the amount( one main, one side, one starter, rice or naan, popadums and chutneys, tea or coffee) took some of it home with us. Price has crept up since last visit (last year's autumn hols) but with the current cost of everything that's understandable. The food is tasty and not overloaded with gee like many others are. We all came away feeling satisfied and not bloated, sharing compliments of the dishes we all enjoyed. Can't wait till the summer now when we shall go again.

This is the first and the last time I will use this restaurant. the food was bland ,tasteless and expensive, Evan the mint sauce was like milk.

Food was gd, new year eve they answered the phone and didnt take the order stayed on hold for 30mins before hanging up, gave them anouther chance, ordered my food was charged £34.90 they didnt deliver my rice and when i rung them they said it wasnt placed on the order, i thought fair enough, to now realise if they didnt put on the order then they over charged me by £4.30 so they rather stole Money or messed up my order and didnt solve it, you decide which.

Tasty food. Disastrous staff. Spilled our drinks all over us smashing our glasses. One member of staff actually hooked up his phlegm and spat it out the door. Offered nothing by way of apology. No discount. When we asked for a drink on the house they begrudgingly gave us a tiny liquer. Don't go to this place. Tragic effort. Truly awful.

The restaurant is really nicely decorated with lovely furniture. There was a couple of very noisy annoying small groups so ambience wasn't good but the restaurant can't help that. The waiters were efficient. Started of well with very good popadoms and dips however all dishes were bland and lacking any real taste - the curries were the same shade of red despite our orders being totally different and the veg dishes were terrible - this is not authentic Indian food and all of it was completely tasteless. We didn't eat any of it but the staff did not ask why, they simply asked if they could clear the table. Won't be going again and couldn't recommend.

Once again great food and service

We have eaten here many times in the past but sat in the restaurant. This evening we wanted to order a meal for delivery but they advised me they would only accept cash on delivery! Why? Is this because their drivers aren't getting tips? Why? Is it that cash is a more, shall we say, cost effective way of accounting! Neither were they phased about me cancelling my order. My business is clearly not wanted by them. We have noticed this practise is becoming more common amongst our local Indian and chinese takeaways. No way to run a business. A food take away business is only as good as the customers last experience. Sadly mine was bad, we won't be using them again. In this increasingly cashless society we will happily give our business to other food outlets who don't operate this cash only system, of which there are many.

Amazing food, very reasonable prices, impeccable service. I had a Peshawari naan, seekh kebab, chicken Ceylon and a coke. All was absolutely amazing and the staff were very polite. Only downside is the soft drinks were somewhat flat without much fizz in them but that's not a huge deal breaker. I will come here again if I'm in the area. Definitely recommended.

Picked a bad day obviously ☹️ Went early and food obviously left over from earlier or day before. Served luke warm and didn't want to risk chicken dishes. Paid and left.

Really was worth a review. Tasty , enjoyable, very well priced & most of all hot on delivery. Waited no more than 20 mins on a Friday night for delivery.

Very nice meal and very good service. Not very busy in the restaurant on a Monday night as you would expect. Restaurant was clean and there’s easy parking on site. Tikka Masala was very nice, Pasanda not quite as good but still nice. Prawn purée, Naan and Poppadom’s all good too. Would definitely revisit when next in the area.

We were staying just outside Cranborne and looked on the internet, so pleased we found Spice of India, it was the BEST takeaway curry we've ever had it arrived very quickly, was piping hot and the portions were HUGE!, we were there in Lodge 3 for 2 weeks and had a takeaway meal every couple of days as I tried all their different curries even though hubby stuck to his chicken madras, A special thanks to the delivery driver, he was always early and a very nice man with a cheerful smile. I wish we lived nearer so we could enjoy the meals more often

Thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Went here for the second time with my wife on Tuesday. We were so lucky to get in because it was packed due to Tuesdays being banqueting night (unbeknown to us!) and we got the last table. Very good value for money. Eccellent food and service. We've recently moved to Verwood. So lucky we have this restaurant in our town. Highly recommended.

Great food ....never disappointed....our favourite Indian

Being completely honest, i was a little hesitant to order based on some of the recent reviews but I was hungry and had just stopped after travelling for nearly 4 hours. I phoned and placed my takeaway order. the gentleman who took my order was so friendly albeit a a bit disheartened as he did say food would be an hour but what could I do. Waiting patiently, I see a car turn up thinking what the devil is going on here, it was my food, 25 minutes early. Thank the heavens! We shared 3 main dishes between us and the flavours…. Oh my days…… every single dish nailed it in terms of flavour, portion size and melt in your mount tender meat. I have to say, it’s one of the better Indian’s I have had in a good year or so. It was even better the next day as leftover. So glad I went out on a limb and gave Spice of India a go. I’m still salivating just thinking of your delicious food. Thank you! Pinning this restaurant on my maps if I ever come back this way this will be the first place I visit. No joke

Superb Indian restaurant in the heart of Verwood. Great very friendly service and fantastic food. Excellent portion sizes and very tasty dishes. I can heartily recommend the special stuffed chicken dish. Tuesday night is banquet night... Very good value and very popular so book if you can. Going back there again soon. Back again (Sept 2022) and it's just as good. Lovely decor and very friendly staff with generous portions of food. Still highly recommended.

Went on banquet night (Tuesday) to find that although the cost was £15.95 per head and not the £12.95 we had on our "out of date" flier from campsite, the food served up was tasty, not over spiced and delightfully light on the ghee. This resulted in the warmth of garlic coming through perfectly on the saag aloo and again on the saag chana. The lamb bhuna was nicely mild ( just the way I like it) and the veg stuffed , Peshawar and onion naans all soft and tasty. My two children had a korma and a Kashmir dish both were devoured with no left overs. Overall not a single complaint especially as us all being so full at the finish we couldn't even manage the coffee or tea. If I had any complaint, it would be more a suggestion, the banquet night deal allows for tea or coffee as a drink at the end but didn't let us exchange these options for a child friendly drink even though our children are 10 and 12, clearly not going to have either beverage. Anyhow we had a jug of table water which had a nice sliced lemon in it and was a pleasant free refreshment to accompany our meals. Overall we decided even at £15.95 each it was great value and quality too.

The only Indian restaurant in the area that can cater for my dietary requirements, which shows that they prepare things freshly! I'm vegan and have intolerances to garlic and onion so this is pretty rare. Always delicious food, always great customer service. Never had a bad experience after many takeaways.

Mediocre food in a mediocre setting. We don’t live local, so can’t say how this restaurant compares to other local curry houses, but overall we were slightly disappointed with our meal. Nothing was bad, but there were few distinctive flavours across the 6 curries we ordered. The portion sizes were good, but none of us were left wanting more. It didn’t help that we were sat next to a family that decided to let their children play games on their phones at full volume throughout the meal, which didn’t help the ambience. A complimentary drink at the end of the meal was nice, but not enough to make us return again.

Went there with friends for a get together. Very mediocre food i.e. chicken passanda and buttered chicken. Drinks order was wrong - once addressed was corrected. There only seemed to be one sitting. Was gobsmacked to find that when we asked for the bill that the waiter swept the food debris onto the floor. Not recommended

Friday nights, it's almost like a pilgrimage. We've had plenty of different dishes between us over the years and NEVER had a bad meal! We collect so I can't comment on the delivery service but they're always busy on a Friday. Phone first and collect, or pop in - the Kingfisher is ice-cold and the surroundings are lovely.

We booked for the banquet with friends our first time back to the spice since 2020 and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the service excellent. The new dividers between tables gives more privacy and safety. Looking forward to booking again.

Tonight I discovered this 'Jewel in the Nile'. Delicious food, cooked to order, very reasonably priced and the staff member I met, the lady that delivered my takeaway, was lovely. Perfect takeaway. Not having lived here very long I had tried a few other Indian...

Excellent food and excellent service always attentive with drinks etc, highly recommended, my advice always book to guarantee a table.

Take away. Waited ages and had pre ordered. Was offered a courtesy drink but driving. Food was cold and very bland. Really disappointed as it was a rare and favourite treat for my elderly mother on Mother’s Day. Not the quality we experienced a few months ago. Not good value for the money.

Fab Indian, love their Tuesday deal! Eaten here several times and each one has been gorgeous. As much as I love meat curries, one of my favourites is their veg pathia. Also have takeaways from them often Would recommend to book!

Absolutely love the food from here, but when I tried to order for home delivery, I couldn’t pay over the phone, and they only accept cash on delivery. Who carries cash anymore!? If you’ve had a few drinks and can’t drive down there, make sure you’ve got some cash on you

Lovely restaurant. We had four different mains, each we’re tasty, flavoursome and different to one another. The staff were accommodating of my young family. Whilst there, it was very popular with both dining guests and take aways.. we would visit again
