Fells Restaurant in Carlisle

A wonderful time yesterday celebrating our mums 80th birthday. Excellent food and staff and the party of 14 very well catered for, would definitely recommend. Favourites from our food choices were the pea risotto, pulled pork wrap and fish and chips (excellent chips!). Thank you for a memorable afternoon.

Great food, served by friendly staff, you could not want for more. The menu had a good mix of dishes to choose from and at very affordable prices. The restaurant is very airy and the tables are very well separated so no COVID worries.

First impressions weren’t great as our table wasn’t ready. Laying our table took quite awhile and seemed like an inconvenience and too much effort although the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy and plenty of staff were available. One of the waitresses with a European accent seemed particularly disgruntled and put out and is maybe in the wrong job judging by her attitude. In fact all the staff could probably do with customer service training. The restaurant itself was quite nicely decorated with jewelled coloured upholstered chairs, it was quite a spacious dining room (not on top of other diners) which was good with covid numbers on the increase. The clientele were mainly elderly diners. The food on the whole for our party was actually ok but the vegetarian option didn’t seem to go down very well.

We ate in the hotel during an overnight stop walking Hadrian's Wall - had already walked 25km that day and didn't want to go much further. Very glad we did as the food was delicious. The pea risotto with a spicy vegetable 'cake' was a stand-out. Its great to have interesting vegetarian options available. Would definitely go back.

A surprisingly tasty meal after thinking the restaurant was closed. Food was lovely and service was great but does lack slightly with the atmosphere. Still worth a visit.

Stayed at the Cumbria Park quite a few times but never ate in the Restaurant. Well, if last nights meal is anything to go by we will certainly be dining here when we visit in the future! We shared chilli nachos as a starter and had braised steak and gammon steak as our mains. What we had to eat was very good. The service from the 2 waitresses was excellent as well. They were kept on the move as the Restaurant was quite busy, especially for a Monday night. We will definitely use The Fells Restaurant on our next visit to Carlisle. 👍

We are here as we were staying in the attached hotel. Meal is great value (£15 for two courses). Portions are large and service is well organised and friendly. Dining room is large and airy and tables are well spaced.

Food was absolutely beautiful and service was excellent. Staff were very attentive and a visit from Santa was a special touch. This was our 2nd year celebrating Christmas at FELLS. This restaurant is an asset for the local area, lovely to eat in and also for takeaway.

What can I say.....thank you for making my birthday celebrations very special and something to remember. We ate breakfast here prior to golf on the 8th of October which was fantastic. Then had a birthday meal on Saturday night with two other couples. The food is excellent and the service is equally as excellent. I can’t recommend any higher. Thank you to Wendy and her staff for being so accommodating during the last few days 👌🏻

We booked this because it was close to where we were staying and it turned out to be an excellent choice. There was a reduced choice on the menu, but even so, a good range of dishes making it hard to choose. The home made steak and ale pie I had was excellent, as was the steak my husband had. Portions were after a wet day out doing Hadrian's Way and good value. Our chosen pudding were excellent too. Service was attentive but not overpowering. The tables were well spaced out and this ,plus the use of screens, more than met the social distancing requirements

Under the rules and regulations due to Covid, there were sanitisers everywhere, the tables where well spaced out, table service was superb and the food just as good. We were really pleased that the hotel had put the the staff and customer welfare high on their list which made everyone feel more comfortable with eating out. Well done Cumbria Park.

It’s open (14th Sep), not closed as TA advised. Food was good, cheesecake was delicious. Steak wasn’t very well cooked, fat was inedible. Staff were friendly, decor seemed nice to us (contrary to another review). Hotel was full on contractors though - not really appropriate for a nice romantic meal !

Had a meal with two friends. The starter and main were very good. Dessert wasnt as advertised, sadly. The restaurant lacks character and is too bright. Not cosy. Worth a visit though.

Hadn’t been here since January and wondered of it would still be as good and it was! All safety precautions in place So we could enjoy another excellent meal
