Federal Cafe Bar in Manchester

Just the most delicious breakfast and one of the best cafe experiences we've had - EVER! From start to finish, every single member of staff was warm, welcoming and professional; they really looked like they wanted to be there! Waited about 15 mins for a table (9am Sunday) but it was worth it. We had Turkish Eggs and Avo on Toast with Bacon - perfect poached eggs, lovely sourdough, just divine. The ONLY minor gripe was the coffee and chai latte could've been hotter. That wouldn't stop us returning though!

Highly recommend great service top-notch food and a big thank you to Jenny for giving us a great customer service extremely polite very friendly and got us a table very quickly thanks Jenny really appreciate it.

The store is nice and elegant, sometimes it is crowded. I ordered a halloumi and egg sandwich and French toast. The sandwich is sweet and light, and the French toast is normal, not the praise I heard.

Alive, Kate, and Leia were amazing! We mentioned to them we were celebrating and they went above and beyond to make it a special experience for us! Allowing me to order from the breakfast menu with my dietary adjustments and complimentary celebratory mimosas made our morning. I love visiting federal and will continue to do so because of the amazing staff.

Very disappointing experience. My request to change the table was completely ignored, and more comfortable tables were given to customers who arrived after me. The restaurant lacks respect in dealing with clients. I decided not to try the food because of the poor service.

Get there early on weekends! We queued. Breakfast was phenomenal though. The mushrooms + halloumi/ eggs on toast was insane. Run don’t walk!!!

This place is just fine, I can’t say they’ve provided something special, not at all, just a regular brunch cafe. I would say a bit pricey brunch cafe. Food was ok, cocktails were pretty good. Also they, need to update their menu, bloody merry in menu was 7£, in the app 8£ 😄

Having only been in Manchester 2 days, I came here twice! Jose the barista makes great coffee. He and the rest of the team are quite jolly and wonderful. Breakfast was also excellent. Great atmosphere, nice music, and a wonderful place to start your day at!

Wonderful breakfast at Federal! The steak was cooked to perfection! The service was impeccable and Kate who greeted us even nipped to a shop to get my pregnant partner Red Lion eggs for her Turkish Eggs! Amazing!

Great little "cafe" A real diamond 💎 It's not the cheapest of places. But one of the best. You certainly get the feeling of "You get what you pay for," Lovely tasty, well presented food. In a warm and friendly atmosphere. Definitely be back.

Coming here during weekday afternoon there’s no queue at all, got the chance to visit their biggest branch before but this time wanted to try different branch. The vibes always lively yet warm and cozy. Coming here twice both ordered Turkish eggs, it was creamy, fulfilling and ✨the sauce✨ still amazing. Coffee both bold and strong, the drink also has various options depending on your preferences. Amazing food the best brunch in Manchester!! All of the staff are super lovely and helpful, and we had a lovely chat with Natalia in the queue whilst we was waiting to go in and she gave out mini shot-size oat hot cholcolates because it was cold, thank you!

Just got off the flight from Dublin on Monday, and it's the first place I brought my girls to. I had eaten here before, so I couldn't wait. The girl that served us (Katie) was lovely and warm and genuinely so, not forced.

We ordered 3 dishes Halloumi shroom Eggs Benedict with extra avocado French toast All exceeded the expectations .. nicely presented and super delicious .. The most thing i like how fresh the food was.. including the strawberry sauce on the french toast.. it taste like freshly smashed/squeezed strawberries 🍓😋 In addition the combination of the Halloumi with mushrooms and the fresh tomato sauce with herbs 🌿 give the best mix of tastes over a perfect slice of sourdough bread 😋 I highly recommend it

For the last four years we have been exhibitors at manchester art fair, we stay in a hotel for three nights each year, and for the last four years we've spent every morning of those stays having breakfast at federal. Great, friendly, warm staff, great food, excellent coffee, juice and Bloody Marys. Federal deansgate is one of our favourite breakfast places in the whole world. Well done you staff people. It's great to go to a place that really doesn't put a foot wrong. See you next year.

This charming little cafe is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warmest, most friendly staff.

I ordered French toast and a bloody Mary! The French toast was absolutely amazing and very filling. The bloody Mary was perfect level of spiciness. quaint interior. well decorated. clean facility and really kind staff. The food and drinks were made promptly (fresh, not frozen)

Loved the food .. got the smashed avocado and poached eggs with a glass of OJ.. the service would be better if they take your order instead of ordering at front..

I came for food with my friend and it was amazing! The coffee was also some of the best I’ve had. Our waitress Natalia was so friendly and funny, she was happy to help with anything we needed. She was very attentive and had lots of charisma.

Well , the place was very good actually, I ordered French toast was good but not special, also cappuccino 😀, the staff were friendly , I love the idea of water bottle with your order not many cafe do that . We visited Manchester for my husband's 40th birthday and came her for breakfast/brunch. It was so good we came back the second day and although we queued a long time outside (we should have booked) they brought out hot choc shots and the food was just as good once we got seated. The staff are lovely and remembered us from the day before despite being a very popular and busy cafe. Book ahead for a weekend day before lunchtime!

Really lovely brunch. We both enjoyed our food and mimosas! Natalia was very friendly and provided brilliant service. We only had to wait a few minutes for a table which we were more than happy to do since we had such a great experience.

After reading all the amazing reviews about this cafe we decided we had to give it a try and we were definitely not disappointed! We came on a Friday morning and there was only about a 5-10 minute wait for a table. Once inside, the service was quick and the food was delicious as expected. Would definitely recommend to anyone in Manchester (Worth the wait!)

Amazing brunch and range of drinks! Frequented this spot a few times during a stay in Manchester with a friend. Local to the Central Convention Complex, which was handy for us. We went early to avoid queues we saw later.

A popular brunch place with three branches in Manchester alone. He said he had to wait in line, so he went early in the morning, but he was upset because there was no one there. I heard that French toast is a popular menu item, so I ordered one and the toast topped with mushrooms and halloumi cheese, which I hadn't seen anywhere else. The taste was very average. Came with high expectations as I was told this was the brunch to get in Manchester. To be honest, it was very average. Both the food - french toast and the shroom and halloumi toast and the coffee. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We were in a queue outside of the cafe with slight rain and cold winds. They brought us small cups of hot chocolate to keep us warm while we wait. The service was lovely and their food is incredible!

El mejor amigo y yo decidimos que íbamos a visitar para un desayuno de cumpleaños / almuerzo. La comida no decepcionó, y el personal era increíble. El lugar está lleno de energía y clientes y una muy buena vibra. Todos los clientes que trabajan duro están disfrutando de su comida y los cócteles que tomamos fueron increíbles. ( 2 por £ 12 , buena relación calidad-precio) Personalmente pedí la tostada francesa con tocino añadido en el lateral, y aunque el precio puede parecer un poco desalentador al principio (14 £ por el FT y 3 £ por el tocino) créeme que vale la pena (raramente me siento así). Volveremos, una experiencia tan buena!

The breakfast at Federal Cafe was certainly worth the wait in the rain, especially when they came out to the people queueing with mini shots of Hot Chocolate to ward off the cold 🤤 Friendly staff and delicious food. Highly recommend the French Toast 👌

I had a lovely experience during my short stop at Manchester. The porridge was delicious, the drink was spot on, and the service was kind and welcoming. It's a cozy spot that I would definitely recommend for a satisfying and pleasant visit.

Not sure if I've reviewed this place before but I should've done. Been to both this and the NQ and they're both fantastic! Prob slightly better ambience at Deansgate. Tried several dishes and all keep going to the end. No mouthful gets boring. Had the Halloumi and Mushrooms today and added chorizo. Wow! The staff and service are spot on. Great job as always!

Brilliant coffee - have almond milk which was a must for us - food delicious! We were staying in Manchester for a few days and got coffee here every day as it was very good - antipodeans know how to make a good one!!

about 20 minutes standing in line with a cute doggo (they offered us raspberry tea in the meantime), then a delicious scrambled egg + brownie + capuccino.

Overall a very nice experience, coffee was great, and food especially the French toast was delicious. What we enjoyed the most was the friendly staff who were super accommodating. My friend ordered the day’s special French toast with a special sauce (forgot what it’s called) that was a tad spicy for her, she asked the waitress if she can have some honey to add on and the waitress offered to make a new original French toast for her! We were both a bit shocked to find them so accommodating, and the French toast was so delicious. Thank you very much and will definitely come back again.

The service was great and as a non British tourist sometimes we get treated like "robbers" but not here the whole staff treated us with gratitude and kindness I advise any tourist in Manchester to give this place a try. The food however was pretty average but not bad the turkish eggs are not that great. The bathroom was clean even though the place was pretty crowded. But if you're a tourist you have to pass by this place specially for breakfast

Ordering via an app from inside the cafe. This is very convenient. I liked the menu; it was varied enough to satisfy all tastes. We ordered the Turkish scrambled eggs with yogurt mixed with day. It was delicious, and we also ordered the halloumi with eggs and mushrooms with spicy tomato sauce. Also, two French toasts, and they were the reason we chose the restaurant based on a recommendation. But the French toast was not as unique as the recommendation said. Coming to the prices, they were really high. What we ordered above came with two flat whites and an Americano coffee and we paid 70 pounds for that. The atmosphere of the restaurant is not suitable for the crowds it gets. I came at 8 am on a Saturday. The place is cramped and the tables are small, barely enough for two dishes, and the customers are continuous.

This is an awesome breakfast place. Super delicious food! A bit of a wait to get seating as it is very popular but worth the wait. Good arrived quick and service super friendly. Loved it!
