Feathers Restaurant/Pub/Hotel in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

Brilliant service, didn't book but they made room for us and were very friendly. Good food and accommodated 6 of us including children. Thank you

Terrible 1 meal very salty. Service shocking, we intended to order sweets, but waited so long, no one came back to us, even though we asked could someone clear the table and take our order. So we decided , no sweets just pay and go, even that took ages to pay. We will not be back.

What a dreadful experience, we will never return to this awful place. The manager/owner couldn't even manage a hello when we arrived, let alone a welcome! We ordered and the extremely rude woman in the kitchen brought our 'meals' out, then there was a good 5 minute gap before vegetables and cutlery arrived, by which time our food was lukewarm. When we politely asked her to reheat it, she threw a major strop (I actually thought she was going to hit us). She brought the reheated food 5 minutes later and literally threw the plates on the table! When we were leaving we complained to the owner he was completely disinterested. But not so disinterested when it came to taking our money off us! There are some people who shouldn't work in hospitality, the staff at The Feathers are in this category. Oh and the food was poor!

Praise where praise is due. After getting RIPPED OFF in Hunstanton!!! I remembers this place from a few years back. Well what a little gem. Dogs accepted!!! Very friendly locals, great interaction with both other customers and staff. We spent the 3 evenings here and had a great selection of great food. My partner is Gluten intolerant, not a problem here. Very reasonable prices A real pleasure to give them a glowing recommendation.

We were in Sandringham visting the tulip tapping and called in to this lovely little pub restaurant. They had so many different spirits, wines and beers. Food was amazing as well all ready decided we will be back again later in the year. What a lovely little village pub.

Best Christmas dinner out ever! Staff and owner very friendly! Lunch was relaxed and unhurried! No fault could be found with the food or service! Simply GREAT!

We visit the area around March & Xmas each year with our caravan. We eat at the Feathers almost every day during the holiday. John is always friendly & accomodating & greets us like regulars. The menu is extensive enough that we have plenty of choice & variation thru out our stays. It spans from comfort pub grub (lasagne, lamb shank etc) to what i call gastro pub (salmon with crushed new pots & mange tout, pork belly). The puddings are lovely, with about a dozen choices, & very generous portions. If you want some entertainment, ask John to recomend a gin. He has shelves of them!

Was working at the feathers, Thank you John and his staff had a supurb Lasagne served with Garlic Bread and salad.

We went for a nice lunch out. We are told by the waiter that the chef hadn’t turned up. We ordered tempura fish and vegetables it arrived and was seriously overcooked and tasted bitter.not a good experience at all. I wrote an email to them and have had no reply.

Awful the bar man was rude and very abrupt. They did manage to squeeze us in as the kitchen had closed at 7.45 we arrived just before 8. So that was the only reason I've given it 1 star. I had fish and chips it was mushy I couldn't eat the batter it tasted awful the chips were powdery and all the condiments were cheap and again tasted awful. Then a lady came and took our food and didn't ask how was it or anything just "you done? " !! Don't bother wasting your money here find a Tesco and get a meal deal. Shame as the building and garden are lovely.

Food was fine, nothing to get wildly excited about here but perfectly pleasant. Staff were ok, could have been a little more enthusiastic but there we go!! Would we go back?? Maybe, maybe not......

We enjoyed good pub grub! The gammon covered cheese, beef suet pudding, chips (gluten free) and syrup pudding (also gf) were fabulous. We popped back in on the Sunday evening and were squeezed in for 4 yummy roast dinners when they provided gluten free gravy. Not sure that the staff 'enjoy' their job but they were helpful.

Great bands but slow service and grumpy rude barman. Heard him snap at more than one customer unnecessarily. They had run out of gin glasses so got it served in a branded lager glass despite seeing hardly any gin glasses on tables…when I did eventually get one it was a nasty plastic scratches one. Wouldn’t go here again unfortunately.

What a rip off!! I ordered a seafood platter costing nearly £11, and as you can see from the picture this was absolutely disgraceful for the money paid. We also ordered a nachos dish for just under £7. It was a few nacho Crisps with cheese, no guocomola or spur cream sauce and the presentation was awful. We mentioned it to staff and not even a response back. Absolutely disgusting. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Extremely disappointed.

No service. Queued half an hour for a drink. Not enough staff. No communication from manager. No acknowledgement. No apologies. Felt sorry for the one staff member who was trying to serve quickly. Gave up in the end and left. Recommend not patronising this establishment and taking your money elsewhere.

This was a disappointing experience. We booked a table for 1pm on a Saturday; the pub was not busy and there were two staff waiting at table and one behind the bar. Our food order was taken very quickly and the food arrived at the table four minutes later. I would expect that some of it would be reheated (eg. Beef Goulash) rather then cooked from scratch, but mashed potato? ‘Seasonal vegetables’ were frozen peas and carrots. When we had finished our plates were not cleared away - waiting staff walked last several times and ignored them until we placed them on an adjoining (unoccupied table) The waitress then tried to sit a party there. We were not asked if we wanted a dessert and after more than 20 minutes we paid and left. I dislike having to give poor reviews - but it is clear that our experience mirrors that of several others, and, like them, we will not return.

I cannot emphasise how much I love this place. The food is gorgeous, I especially recommend the stilton and mushroom tarlet with the warm chocolate brownie with ice cream for dessert. The place is gorgeous, cosy and like stepping back in time. It must be lovely hunkered down in there on a winter's day. The staff are also incredibly kind and helpful, very welcoming and friendly.

We come here quite a lot rhe building and area is beautiful perfect for a cool drink outside or hot drink in the warm snuggly bar inside .. food is always OK but some visits its been a bit of a let down for example hand made chips and frozen chips its easy to taste the difference and with it being a tiny bit expensive u do expect a bit better.. but covid im sure is causing everyone troubles .. the food is always hot and tasty and the staff are always friendly .. they have dog friendly areas so that is great of your a doggy family your not banished to the coal shed but can join in with the real people lol Excellent selection of gins and you can mix up what your would like as staff always happy to help

John & he's team were excellent nothing was to much trouble. We held a family wake. The covid regulations were enforced but without spoiling or being to invasive. John was excellent at conducting the social distancing and was excellent with gently policing family without being sympathetic to the occasion.Six family members stayed for 2 nights and the rooms and chapel are excellent value with a wholesome hearty cooked breakfast.Big thank you John from the Jennings / porter family’s

We enjoyed a great family dinner here even with all the COVID restrictions. Food and draft drinks were excellent, as well as the gin menu. Service is always easy going and hospitable.

My wife and I rang today to book a table, no problem, the food was really good, my wife had the lasagne, and I had the gammon glazed in cheese and Piri piri sauce which was delicious The beer choice was excellent, I had Timothy Taylor Landlord, which was great.

6 of us had lunch at the Feathers, then a visit to Sandringham, where We walked around the gardens and house, then back to the Feathers for evening meals. At both lunch and dinner we all cleared our plates and agreed the food is of a very good standard. After a few drinks then a few more drinks 2 of our friends went home and 4 of us stayed overnight at the Feathers. Nice large rooms with tea & coffee and toiletries provided. So off we go again More Food, a great breakfast again all plates cleared. Big thanks to John and staff,would definitely stay again.

A big lesson learnt as had I looked at trip adviser before I went in, I wouldn’t have. That said I did and though the food was ok, in fact quite good, I have never been served by more miserable staff in my life. Not one, other than the friendly chef who welcomed us in, cracked a smile let alone a laugh. The bar man in particular would have been much better employed by a funeral parlour or faulty towers, he was so miserable he was verging on rude. Will not be interrupting the peaceful misery of the feathers again.

We holiday every year in Sandringham and each time visit the Feathers on multiple occasions. The food is excellent and the staff are always welcoming to our family which includes 2 little dogs. This year, was unfortunately a very different experience. We were met in the corridor by a very rude lady who more or less ushered us out repeatedly stating ‘outside’. They have clearly changed their policy on dogs in the pub which she could have explained much more politely or placed a notice on the front door.

We popped in for a drink on the way back to our campsite. The man serving behind the bar didn’t seem to want to be there. We had a sandwich and chips and the food was surprisingly excellent. I say surprisingly because the service just didn’t match up. We would return though when next in the area.

Firstly, I have never had to write a complaint about a restaurant. We spoke roughly a week before visiting and spoke to John, confirming this restaurant wasn’t part of the ‘Eat out to help out scheme’. Fair enough, it sounded idyllic & charming so this wasn’t an issue. We confirmed with John that we would call him a couple of days before going for an early dinner with our two children just to clarify there would be no issue.John was very polite. We were staying on the Sandringham estate and whilst there some other campers also stated how good the food at the Feathers was. We were so excited that we left this until the second to last day of our holiday for us to enjoy. We walked from Sandringham to make the most of our afternoon. On our approach we walked into the porch. Respecting the notice in front of us ‘Please wait to be seated’.Patiently we waited...& waited. We saw a gentleman cross the hallway in front of us, quickly glance then went to the rest room (he looked like staff, dressed in black). No acknowledgment whatsoever. Then he went on to carry on with whatever duties. Still no smile - nothing. We decided to walk in, to the left hand side was a room with one couple sat in, they too looked a little ‘jaded’. We continued simply looking for a member of staff and also seeing which room we would like to eat in. The next room was the bar & further seating area. The same guy dressed in black behind the bar murmured, to the point we had to ask if it was okay to eat/dine. His reply was ‘ yes, just take a seat anywhere’. Another couple were sat in the corner and at this stage I was feeling a little disheartened. I said to my husband we should just sit outside. We took some menus outside and perused through. We went to the bar with our table number to order. I don’t know quite what was wrong with this team member although it was apparent that there were no other members of staff at this point. We stated what we wanted and was ‘rushed’ to order making both my Husband and I feel on edge. No.5 member of staff huffed & puffed throughout us ordering, when asked if ‘there was anything else’ and we said we would also like a bottle of tap water his body language alone was insulting. At this point I just wanted to walk out. Having worked for In retail for 15 years, I have never witnessed a member of staff behave in this way and make the customer feel so unwelcome. Had it not been for the sake of our children I would have left. I was so rushed I even forgot to ask to put on the 10% discount as the campsite advised us we could get 10% discount. To be totally honest this was far from my worries. The food was served and remarkably the food was excellent. No one came back to check if everything was okay and although I was tempted to have the crumble for desert and finish with a coffee before we walked back to Sandringham I’d lost heart, so deflated we didn’t even walk back through the restaurant. We just left through the garden gate.

Decided to go for some lunch today at the last minute so we hadn't booked. As it was eat it out help out we thought we would make the most of it. Decided on the Feathers as hadn't been for a long time. Big mistake. They weren't taking part in the scheme for one thing - I cannot understand why. We should have left then but hubby had already got drinks (should have persuaded him know) We had pints of lime and soda as we don't drink. We ordered the 8oz rump steak. Well it was as thin as anything when it arrived. They must have got one steak - bashed it down to get 2 out of it! No steak knives either. Tiny bit of salad. Chips were good though! That's the only redeeming feature. Nobody did a check back either which is terrible. It wasn't that busy. The waitress was lovely bless her very friendly. My husband went to pay and they has charged £2.90 PER lime and soda!!! My goodness that's a RIP off! Its carbonated water and a splash of lime cordial. We will definitely NOT be returning

We were there last weekend which was also the first weekend of Sandringham House and Gardens opening. We sat in the pub garden which is pretty with plenty of tables and dog friendly. Service was swift and friendly and one of the best roast dinners we've had - roast beef, delicious gravy a good selection of fresh vegetables and there was even home made stuffing. We would definitely recommend.

If you enjoy being shouted out to the point where you fear being assaulted by the waitress for returning your meal that was presalted ten this is the place you should frequent. Being serious I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER eat at his place again if I could give it no stars I would.

Stopped in with family for a quick lunch. Have always found The Feathers food to be good/excellent with reasonably priced drinks. Staff interested and accommodating and I personally really like the setting.

Called in for Sunday lunch this afternoon and got a table straight away, it was about 1pm and they only had beef and turkey available for the roast so we decided against the Sunday lunch and went off the normal menu. The vegetarian options were great and plentiful and the lamb shank went down a treat. Reasonable and tasty!

We called in on the off chance for a table for dinner and were lucky we got a nice table near the bar. There was a vast menu, I chose slow cooked lamb shank and my friend had a chick pea curry which she said also was delicious. We were not going to have a dessert but landed up having one, they were both very rich but delicious, I can't remember what they were called. We enjoyed our meal and went back again a couple of nights later when it was much busier. We both had fish and chips which was lovely, and no dessert this time! We were in the other bar/restaurant at the back which was also really warm.

Had to wait a long time to eventually be served by an almost rude, unfriendly manager. Ordered two bar meals for my partner and myself. The total cost was £22, and the total worth was maybe £6. Never again!!!

We called in here on a Saturday evening for a chance of something to eat. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who told us to ask at the bar but any table that didn't have a reserved note on was available. We sat in the first dining room/bar on the left. It is more a traditional pub feel. I think the fire was lit as it was very warm and cosy. The menu is vast with perhaps too many options. The wait for food was approx 20 mins but this wasn't too bad as the place was very busy. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered with each of us having a different meal. I will say I ordered a slow cooked pork belly which in my opinion wasn't slow cooked as it had charred marks on it from a grill but other then that no complaints. Fresh fish & chips were extremely good too. Kids enjoyed their meals. I would recommend this restaurant for food, excellent friendly staff and if you like a traditional pub feel. I might add this was our second choice as we visited the pub around the corner first but after waiting to speak to someone about any table avaibility and being completely ignored, we decided to leave. We stumbled on this pub and the warm friendly staff made it an easy choice. We'd happily eat here again.

Really nice pub/hotel, food both evening meal & breakfast delicious. Staff all very helpful and friendly,myself and the wife both thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at this lovely pub/hotel.

Whilst in the area we stopped of lunch, as we had our dog with us we sat in the garden, although I believe they are allowed inside the pub. Enjoyable meal which arrived fairly quickly.

So good we visited twice during our weeks holiday. Service was intermittent, ok on Saturday and brilliant on Thursday. However on both occasions the food was very good.

Popped in one night (while on holiday in the area) for an evening meal. The food and the price were OK and the pub and gardens a nice place to visit but honestly the staff (who were there that night) really need to go on a customer service course - disinterested and unhelpful in the extreme; a pity because this spoiled our evening and so our overall rating.

Popped in for drinks during bike ride around Sandringham. Good selection of beers available and nice outside seating areas. Food menu also looks good (we didn't eat this visi)

I visited on a busy sunny Sunday with my dad and partner for a quick bite to eat and a drink. We sat outside, it was a lovely day and seemed very busy because there was a hour wait on food- which was totally fine - and it was a lot quicker than an hour.

The food was great, well worth the money and with the 10% off for staying at Pinecones was great, will visit again when next in area

My fiancee and I had our best British meal ever in the Feathers. What seems to be just a pub with a menue is truly a gem when you love British cuisine.
