Fat Pat’s in Manchester

Wow! These sandwiches are incredible and are a must try if you are in Manchester. I put 5 stars for the atmosphere even though it is not a sit down restaurant because it is a cool experience to walk up this tiny alley and see a bunch of people waiting with great anticipation for their sandwiches to be passed out through the window 😂 The way it works is you put your order in online and it will tell you an estimated pick up time... It is worth the wait but ours was 1.5 hrs so just pre plan to get the order in well before you want your food as it is in high demand. My gf and I split and sandwich combo with crinkle chips and drink and it was plenty for us but also wish we had both got a different sandwich just to try two. The portion of chips was pretty big and the raspberry lemonade was great. I highly recommend eating here as often as you can. Absolutely loved the Philly cheese steak and can't wait to try the spicy honey chicken.

Dont miss out on this food please. We waited 10+ minutes more but they gave us complimentary fries. Amazing food!

Had a day trip to Manchester planned out and this was going to be our final food stop after seeing a guy go here on youtube. It’s a shame to say I would have given zero stars if I could. Google showed it to be open till 11:30. We arrived at 8:30, the hatch was open. We looked online to order but everything bar one combo was showing as out of stock. We were going to order this combo regardless however it said the next pick up was the following day at 11am! I am so glad I spotted this before I paid. We attempted to ring the bell for a good 5 minutes but no one came even though they were in there so we we ended up leaving and were quite gutted because we had walked quite far to get there and were obviously hungry. I honestly wouldn’t bother again.

I like the vibe and sandwich was well constructed. I got the cheesesteak and the meat itself was lacking in flavour. Predominant flavour was just the cheese which was disappointing. Bread was nice.

I got the Philly Cheesteak with chips and a drink. It's a good sub but I wouldn't say it's the best I've had, I definitely think it could use more cheese and sauce. Other than that the flavours in the actual sub were great. Make sure you order in advance as it's pickup only. They gave us an estimated timing but it did take a little longer for it to be prepared. Lastly, the sub was so big so definitely share with someone else.

A little bit too pricey in my opinion but it’s a fun and unique spot and the food is delicious. Staff have always been friendly too :)

All you muslims that eat here. Shame on you and how ignorent can you get when it clearly states the chicken is pre-stunned which is not allowed when sacrificing any animals in islam which means this place is HARAM! period

Unreal! Anyone familiar with this place will surely agree - Manchester’s finest sandwich shop and it’s not even close, the Philly Cheese Steak was actually next level, as a Londoner I will be here whenever I can!

Very overrated, the food in manchester and england as a whole really isnt good probably explains why people overrate it. Not saying I wouldnt recommend atleast trying it, im saying only try it because you want to, dont buy into the hype. They give you a solid amount of food but its really average

The best philly cheese steak, easy feeds 2 people. Found this place last year and I haven't had a better steak sandwich. I get mine delivered on deliveroo so if you don't fancy the pick up point round the back can always get delivered. It's so good everyone should try it at least once if your in manchester. Delicious.

Why does this place have such good reviews? Im so confused. I was the most excited I’ve ever probably been but so severely disappointed. I ordered the philly cheesesteak (which I stopped eating after a couple of bites it was that bad) and the hot honey chicken, this was just okay, average but nowhere near as good as it should be for that price. If you want to try it because it’s been so hyped on social media then just order 1 thing and try it out. Do not buy the chips or anything else, they were awful too.

Visited this place yesterday with my husband. As it was on top of his list for trying out food places in Manchester. We ordered the Philly Cheesesteak & the Hot honey fried chicken. We started with the philly, and all I can say is that it is the BEST philly I have had in my entire life! Fully loaded, full of flavour and so so delicious! We loved it sooo much! The size of the sub is huge, we shared one and were super full. So saved the chicken one to have later. The chicken one was absolutely delicious too, considering we had it a little later we still really enjoyed it. Although the subs are quite pricey, I have to say the fact that the subs are filled to the rim is so worth it. The portion sizes are huge. So definitely worth it! Would I go again. 100% yes!!!! A MUST TRY...

Best sandwich I have ever had! I usually hate Philly steak sandwiches but my boyfriend made me have it and it was amazing!!

Order didn't go through properly. Downside of having a gimmicky hole in the wall down an alleyway that youre encouraged to order online for, is that if it doesn't run well you end up....standing in an alleyway next to commercial bins that absolutely reek for 15 mins. Wasted time arranging this pickup on my only day in Manchester on a trip back to the UK. Joke place. Waste of time

The food was much later than the time given, but delayed food doesn't really bother me as look as its good. Unfortunately the chips were cold and none of us finished them. We ordered a philly steak each and shared a chicken one. The philly steak was absolutely garbage, didn't have any kind of wow factor and was massively overpriced. The chicken one was a bit better. My stomach has been messed up since eating it their food and its been 3 days. In summary, don't believe the overpriced hype! Not impressed at all.

I only ever get the Philly Cheesesteak. Find me a better sandwich in England. I dare you. I hear the chicken on is good too but I just love the steak so much I can't go there and bring myself to order anything else. I only bothered with the chips and drink once. Just get the sandwich! I don't really care about the hype.... I went for the food and it has never disappointed. The flavours are out of this world. As for the location.... It's a hole in a wall. Lots of customers to talk to. Yeah it's a dingy alley in China Town but that for me just adds to the atmosphere. Go early and explore China Town. Some great shops there including the Arts and Crafts store up the stairs. My kids love that one!

I ordered the honey chicken and now I can die happy. What the hell do they do to make it taste that good?! Yes it may be a little pricey but unless you work in town and eat there often I don't see the problem with spoiling yourself and especially when it tastes that good. I would have added a photo but after sitting in my van and smelling it as I unwrapped it, I'd destroyed it. 10/10 and thanks for the x2 wipes, they were needed. Definitely coming back... often!

I knew the place from Tiktok, I ordered the philly and I it was a little bit too salty for me, I wish there was a "fresh" element! The fries were good and hot, the Montréal sauce was good, intense and a little bit spicy. The portions were really generous. I liked it! Next time I would try the friedchicken sandwich.

Ordered here for the first time, flavours were absolutely sensational in every bite price is worth it as one half is filling so one sandwich can count as two meals. Service was quick and easy, recommened pre-ordering on the website. 1000% Revisiting

I’ve tried to avoid overhyped ‘instagrammy’ places but there are some worth the visit. Fat pats is definitely one to visit! Probably the best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. We drove from Newcastle to Manchester for a bit of a food crawl and now I’m going to have to make a 2+ hour drive for it.

Service was epic. Downside is you can only pay online. We travelled from dubai and for some reasons the cards were not working. The gentleman offered the sandwich on the hpuse but instead we gave. 5 quid tip. The sandwich we chose was the hot honey chicken. The amount of filling in the sandwich was how every sandwich should be!! We were told this is the one to choose but me and the wife had seen the cheese steak. Anyways the chicken sub was banging. Full of flavour and very filling. Next time will be the cheese steak. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't say this is the best sandwich but it's good. Very over priced at 15quid and please sort out cash payments.

Gave a visit to FatPats after hearing about it so much online the past year +. Preordered a Philly Cheesesteak online and the whole picking up isn't the best standing in a crowded back-alley way past the pickup time around bins and no communication from the staff. The order itself came out wrong at first and it took a while to get attention to get it sorted. I paid slightly above what you might pay for at subway (which itself is already pricey) for a decently loaded substyle sandwich and a dip, it was delicious but not sure if it was worth enough for the price. The bread was fresh and filling was tasty, although a bit unwieldy to eat but the addition of wipes was appreciated!

Decided to try this place out after big hype online. I was taken down an alleyway filled with bins and dead mice/ rats which was an awful start. Not where I want to be going when going to get food. Upon arriving at the window I thought I could order at window in person however I was told I could only order online. I did so and waited around 40 minutes for my order of two sandwiches as shown below. There was a bit of a queue but it was Sunday late afternoon so not as busy as it gets. When I got the food it was nice and fresh. The chicken was lovely and the steak was good too. The Philly Steak sub was definitely greasy as others have mentioned here too. Both of the subs were VERY big and filled with ingredients however I don’t think any of this justified the price tag of £13-14 per sandwich. I am happy I tried it. I enjoyed it however I can get this in other places for much less. The price is probably so high due to social media hype. The location could be improved or at least ensure bins and dead rats and mice are cleared from the area. Quite disappointed and won’t be returning. Not worth the high price tag.

The food was great, and the place was vibe. All the staff were on point and really friendly and very helpful.

We ordered the Philly and hot honey chicken. It is definitely pricey for what it is, but you definitely get full towards the end of it. I much prefer the hot honey chicken over the Philly, as it comes with hot honey, salad and ranch sauce, so it gives it a bit of a kick of freshness, whereas the Philly can be a little sickly to eat the whole thing on your own.

Fat Pat's are some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I've tried the philly steak and the hot chicken. Both very good quality. Chicken was very tasty (pictured), not spicy at all n reminiscient of some very good pub chicken sandwiches. The ranch and mild buffalo really comes together. The philly cheesesteak was more memorable (not pictured as I had it last time), and possibly one of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had. Definitely recommend. The crispy onions is a perfect touch and it all just comes together. The sandwich could easily feed two, costing 15 quid it makes sense. If you order fries they go full five guys with it.... its A LOT of fries. (Also pictured). Must preorder. They always run a bit late so it's never ready for pickup time but you get it about ten minutes later. But it's worth it. No atmosphere as its pickup only, down a dingy alley.

This place goes viral all the time so I was curious to try it. To start off, staff were extremely kind and communicated well with us. Unfortunately the system of waiting at the back alley near smelly bins and god knows what, is just not it. The sandwiches themselves weren’t bad, just meh and to top it off they cost £16!!! Tried both the steak and chicken and I felt disappointed. Now, I can understand this comes from a place of high expectations due to the popularity of the place, but unfortunately I wouldn’t go back.

Great food, just take too long to bring them out. Need to sort that out, because standing in that alley way is unpleasant.

Much anticipated… high hopes… anti climax I ordered both the chicken and the steak. The bag was reassuringly heavy. When I say heavy, this redefines heavy according to any fast-food collection you’ll ever make. I’m incredulous that they actually bake the bread themselves - it was the biggest disappointment. The roll used for the chicken was 2nd day stale, dry and cracked. I enjoyed the chicken more than the steak as it had more going on in taste and texture. The steak was a bit sweaty - not the usual adjective to describe food but that’s how it looked and smelled. I’ve seen what others, including renowned reviewers have said about the steak, which is bonkers based on my experience. Fries were fresh, hot, but clumped together and needed seasoning. I’d go back on a lunchtime to share the chicken if I knew that the bread was fresh and pliable as it would be better than any other fast-food chicken alternative like Popeye’s or KFC. Fat Pat failed me 😔

The hot honey chicken sandwich has SO MUCH FLAVOUR. Soooo good, genuinely one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ll ever have and very big so worth the price. Just wish the pick up location was easier to access and had parking. It’s unfortunately a dirty alley way. Also the food always takes at least an extra 20 mins after you go to the window, regardless of your collection time slot.

Love the little “made with love” notes on the packaging. Had the Hot Honey fried chicken meal, absolutely loved it though would have definitely been happier if there was a place to sit and eat, actually even a proper shed would do. Nevertheless could be a new concept, since ordering through the app was not too much of the hassle, would definitely order again.

I got the hot honey chicken and a philly cheesesteak these things are big I wasn't expecting them to be as big as they was the hot hunny chicken was my favourite really nice the chicken was thick and juicey the cheesesteak was nice but steak needed abit more seasoning it felt like it needed something else on it but I'm not sure what but was still nice I'd get them both again

Always skeptical of places that get so much hype. But this place simply delivers. The philly and hot honey chicken were equally as exceptional as each other. The price may put people off, but the sando sizes are ridiculously big. Great value for money. Best sandwich I've ever eaten.

Really fun and unique concept and very very popular! At the first the sign is on the main road but if you read reviews they say to go to the back where you will find another alley with bind and a small window and sign. Super friendly service explaining that we had to order online. Did so and received the sandwich in 20mins so went and got boba nearby. Raining unfortunately so not much atmosphere but fun concept and perfect for minimal human contact (sometimes you just want to get your food and go lol) also watched as the nearby shop came to empty the bins and jump on them 🤣🤣🤣 Sandwich was great, lots of flavour but the texture is more mince meat than Philly cheesesteak making the sandwich quite expensive. Will be back for the chicken one however! Definitely worth trying 😌✨

I don't personally do TikTok but my partner told me that she'd seen this place and initially I was quite hesitant about the place as it is just down a random alleyway! However, she convinced me and ordered, we had to order on the app and then collect at a specified time, they then come down and give you the order and that's when it changes as it was probably one of the nicest sandwiches I've ever had, yes we could have gone to a chain and know what to expect but this is very different from the start. Would definitely recommend!

just save yourself the hassle and don't bother.. we ordered on the app at 2:40, we were told our food would be ready by 3:20, when we got there we had to wait a further 40 mins. bear in mind it was in an alleyway that literally reeked.. it doesn't exactly make you hungry. unsure if it was because we ordered the eggplant sandwich, there were around 6 others that received their sandwiches before us and they had ordered meat. some of them hadn't even ordered on the app, so they had ordered and got their food in the same amount of time we were waiting. seemed really disorganised. now onto the food.. it was really disappointing especially after waiting so long. basically flavourless, the only flavour i got from my sandwich was pesto. i didn't even finish it !! just save yourself the time honestly. SO overpriced too

The honey chicken is a SOLID 10/10, WOW. We were not expecting it to be THAT good. We also had the Philly steak. Having tried the original in Philly - this is a lot less cheesy and Spicy, if I didn’t know better than I would’ve rated it a 10/10. It was still great though. X2 drinks and x2 sandwiches came to £31 - you have to order online and cannot order at the window sadly. It’s a dingy alleyway - could be made cute by adding some seating and fairly lights away from the trash bins - so if you can order as a takeaway then please do.

After seeing on social media, I couldn't resist trying it out for myself during my visit to Manchester. I opted for the Philly Cheesesteak, and I must say, it lived up to the hype. The only downside for me was the accompanying chips, but overall, I would definitely order from here again.

I ordered the only vegetarian option on the menu to get home and find out that it has nuts. No where on the site does it say that the sub contains nuts otherwise I wouldn’t have paid £13 for a glorified sandwich I couldn’t eat.

This is most amazing sandwich I’ve ever had. At first I wasn’t sure when my friend took me down a strange alleyway but believe me 5 mins on the alleyway is worth a lifetime of satisfaction. The chicken was tender, bread soft and the sauce was incredible. One sandwich is enough for one or to share between two. 5 stars will be returning to try the other options

I recently ordered from FatPats, was given a time after an hour for collection. Did reach the place expecting to collect my order on the time provided given its reputation for good time keeping. However, I was sorely disappointed when my order took another 30 minutes to be ready for pick-up. As a place focused on order and pick-up operations, such long delays are entirely unacceptable and totally marred the expectations.

Soo tasty and great they are halal! Tried both steak and chicken and struggling on which is better Make sure you have somewhere to eat it though as can get messy

review based on the cheesesteak as that's what i ordered. summary - good sandwich but unfortunately for a price i would view as pretty unfair and greedy. contrary to the price, the sandwich is at least filling and pretty generously filled. perhaps the skills of the chefs, or maybe the rent in this kitchen is so high that they have to jack up the prices to this extent because i'd be skeptical to believe the cost of these ingredients warrant a profit margin this high. either way it's not particularly something i value as a consumer. i can't say i recommend it for the price given as i can get much better value elsewhere in a city that is already expensive to eat out in.

Is it a little expensive? Oh yeah. I wouldn’t go here often at all if I was local, it is so much money for one sandwich. Is it worth the money and worth a trip if you are visiting? Absolutely. Easily the best sandwich of my life (Philly cheesesteak) service was excellent. Obviously atmosphere isn’t good when you’re standing in a smelly alleyway but if you plan well you won’t be standing there long.

The bread was really great, some of the best bread i've had in a sandwich. The steak filling, not as great. Overall, it was nice, but was it 14 quid nice? Probably not. Ordering via smartphone was a hassle, I'd love to see an option where you can order at the window.
