FUR COAT & NO KNICKERS:We had been looking forward to eating here for sometime. Unfortunately., we came away somewhat disappointed. Upon entering, we were blown away with the ambience and the decor of the room (nice touch having a string section playing live music) The food, however, was Just about okay ,for the quality :we all thought it was overpriced. We consisted of party of four ranging in age from 19 to mid 70s. There is a saying ‘ the proof is in the pudding’: Well, we all tried different desserts and we all thought they weren’t very good.. make of that what you will. Full marks for the ambience & the staff are all highly presentable(pretty young things with posh accents). food however, was as stated, below average. Service was very slow . We had to ask for the bill eventually, when it arrived, they had attempted to charges for several drinks that we hadn’t had! Don’t like giving bad reviews, but sometimes you have to do it

What an extremely disappointing experience. We went for dinner and chose off the main menu. My husband has allergies and dietary requirements. My husband chose the grilled sword fish which was accompanied by Papaya and Mango Salad, Tahini Coconut Yoghurt, but asked if he could swap these for the gun powder potatoes and just plain green vegetables. The server came back and said he could have the potatoes, but all the other sides could not be changed. When it arrived, they had not removed the sides and the gun powder potatoes arrived. It was swimming with Tahini and my husband stated he was sorry but he could not eat it due to his dietary requirements. The server took it away and he was just left with the potatoes. They didn't even ask if he wanted to choose something else instead. When the bill came they had charged for the whole of the meal and the potatoes as an extra. We quickly told them we were not paying for something which we hadn't had and they changed the bill. Not the experience we had expected and the fact that they would not cater for food allergies and dietary requirements was extremely poor. We will not be going back!

The place is gorgeous, an old building that is decorated to copy a colonial room in south east asia. But however, the rattan chair need looking after, some brittles came out..should be prevented by maintainance. The food are mixed.. some nice some don't. I ordered afternoon tea.. which was bare minimum, 2 slices of sandwich, 1 bun and 1 roll. 3 dessert cake and 1 berry mouse. To close the dish, we had scone and a cup of tea..It took them 1 hour to serve 1 afternoon tea, 1 burger dish and chicken salad, and they were not busy.. only us who ordered.not sure what was the cause of delay. Anyway, would i come back for food? No way... nearly slept there by the time the food came. But for coffee or cake i think they are ok.. considering it gorgeous room

Lovely venue. The menu is a little different. Great ambience and great place for a meet up for drinks or food. I celebrated my birthday yesterday and had the a la carte menu which was really enjoyable. Love the loyalty promotions of free cocktail, free Prosecco and just been sent a voucher for a free dessert. What is not to like. Eat on a Sunday and they have their own musicians playing string music. Lovely experience.

This building is beautiful and the food really was lovey. The service however was terrible, didn’t receive one of the starters but they soon replaced it. Waiting over half an hour for our drink and had to ask again. £12 service charge added to the bill which wasn’t an issue. My problem was not being given my change, I had to ask after about 15 minutes if we were getting it. We then got part of it and when asked about the rest was told they didn’t have it. I’ve never been anywhere and not been given my change. This is terrible service and for this I wouldn’t go back or recommend. I’ve emailed twice and not had a response. I expected more from this place.

Hosted my wedding breakfast here, 28 people. Food amazing, really lovely but service absolutely shocking, pre ordered the food months in advance and submitted a table plan (as requested). Food delivered to the wrong tables, people told they couldn’t have the meal they ordered because of an allergy (not brought up prior to the day). Awful service from waiters & waitresses. Bar staff lovely, quick & efficient.

We attended a family wedding here. What can I say .... the food was lovely. The table wasn't ready for us, we had to wait over an hour. When we were called through, despite the couple providing a seating plan and pre ordering food with place names and their orders, the food service was appalling. People hadn't got their mains and others had finished. Vegetables were arriving when people had finished their meals. It really wasn't the best service at all. They were literally coming out of the kitchen shouting what they had - some of the serving staff were obviously stressed, so it wasn't always service with a smile. With a minimum spend of £2.500 you really would expect more - I felt really sorry for the couple who had gone to so much trouble. The young girl who was in charge of our party, did her best, but unable to serve 28 people drinks etc. The group included people who were driving - after 3 Heineken 0.0 were ordered, they ran out at 4pm in the afternoon -.it is the only non alcoholic lager they sell?? We had breakfast at another venue the next day at it absolutely showed the Grand Pacific how it should be done.

Extremely Disappointing Birthday Experience, Manager's Rudeness** I had an extremely unsatisfactory birthday experience, as we were driven away by the manager. We had booked a table for four at Grand Pacific a week in advance for a birthday celebration on the evening of June 13, 2024. Upon arrival, the first issue was the very slow service. We waited about 45 minutes for our dishes to arrive together. Additionally, there was no birthday plate as requested. After finishing our meal, we wanted to light a candle on our homemade cake and take a few photos. However, the manager twice attempted to drive us away. We explained that we only needed a few minutes to make a wish, blow out the candles, and take some photos, but were dismissed with the reason "your time is up." Despite several similar empty tables around us, our attempt to communicate was unsuccessful, and we were told to leave immediately. The communication was disrespectful and uncomfortable, and the manager's attitude was extremely poor, ruining my friend's birthday. Anyone considering celebrating at this restaurant should be prepared to be driven away.

I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience at Grand Pacific, Manchester, on my birthday. I had booked a table at this restaurant over a week in advance, specifically requesting a window seat to make the occasion special. Despite my clear instructions and the advance notice, upon arrival, we were told that window seats need to be reserved two hours before. This was incredibly frustrating as I had communicated my request a week prior, and their reasoning made no sense. The service was exceptionally slow, with us waiting more than 1 hour for our food to arrive. Out of respect, we did not rush the staff, expecting them to handle our order with care. However, just as we started eating, less than half an hour later, we were abruptly asked to leave. This happened despite us not finishing our meal. When we mentioned it was a birthday celebration and requested to take a few photos with the cake before leaving, a man in a brown suit (I think he is the manager) rudely insisted that we leave immediately. He was completely unapologetic and offered no explanation, maintaining his rude demeanor even after we explained that the slow service was the reason for our delay. Adding to the disappointment, despite notifying both during the booking and on the day of our visit that it was a birthday celebration, the restaurant did not provide the customary birthday plate. This oversight was a significant letdown on what was supposed to be a joyous occasion. I had looked forward to celebrating my birthday at Grand Pacific, hoping for a memorable and pleasant experience. Instead, the poor service and rude treatment completely ruined what should have been a happy and significant day for me. The lack of any apology or attempt to make amends only added to my frustration. This was undoubtedly the most disappointing birthday I have ever had, and I would strongly advise anyone considering this restaurant for a special occasion to think twice.

Took my girlfriend here for her 21st birthday. The food was fantastic and completely faultless, however, the woman serving our food made multiple unkind comments about the amount of food my girlfriend, who hadn't eaten all day, had ordered. I had wanted to speak to management at the time but my girlfriend was anxious and wouldn't let me. She has deep body confidence issues and so comments about the amount of food she ordered and how she would need to be "rolled home" are extremely upsetting for her. It's a shame the waitress ruined what would have been a perfect evening.

I went for lunch at the Grand Pacific and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. I started with the cauliflower, which was cooked to perfection – crispy on the outside and tender inside, with a delightful blend of spices that made it incredibly flavorful. For my main course, I opted for the fried chicken. It was wonderfully crispy and juicy, with a perfect seasoning that left me wanting more. In addition to my starter and main, I also enjoyed the prawn crackers and the Japanese bread for nibbles. The prawn crackers were light and crunchy, with a great flavor that made them the perfect snack. The Japanese bread was soft and slightly sweet, a delightful complement to the savory dishes. The atmosphere at Grand Pacific is elegant yet relaxed, making it an ideal spot for both special occasions and casual dining. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that every aspect of my meal was enjoyable. Overall, my experience at Grand Pacific was fantastic. The combination of excellent food, great service, and a beautiful setting made it a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend trying the cauliflower and fried chicken, and don’t miss out on the prawn crackers and Japanese bread for a perfect meal!

Went here for a date night with my husband. The restaurant and building was beautiful and everyone was so polite, welcoming and friendly. My husband ordered the lamb curry which was so delicious, I ordered the Caesar salad. My salad contained a little less chicken than what I thought I and think the chicken could have been cooked a little longer. The salad was missing something however it was tasty. My dessert was the chocolate fondant which again was delicious. My husband had the cherry crème brûlée which unfortunately was very disappointing, I really wanted to try it so my husband ordered it but it was not set properly at all. It was more like custard. Very liquidy, so he could not eat it. I regret not mentioning it to the waiter. The music was a little too loud for my liking and we was struggling to hear each other. I was hoping for a quiet romantic meal out but it ended up feeling like a nightclub. This could be my bad as I had never been to the restaurant before and didn’t know what kind of vibe it would be. My two cons were the loud music and the cream brûlée.

Can’t give anything less than five stars for the cosy and comforting atmosphere, impeccable service from staff, and the top tier, incredible food this place has to offer. Myself and the missus went as a couple for a date in April of 2024 whilst travelling down to Manchester for the day. We came again for my birthday a month later as i had to relive this experience once again, and again it did not disappoint. The cocktails are fairly priced and spot on with amazing spirits to offer. My mom noted that there should be some more choices to offer for Cider lovers however, to enjoy in between the occasional cocktail. My dad and i were happy with the choices of beers, with Asahi and Lucky Bhudda being our two choices for the evening we spent here, in between a cocktail or two. My dad noted how amazing the Madori Sour cocktail is, he has attempted to recreate it at home using the same spirits as he liked this one a lot. The food, both times, is to die for. The Thali sharing starter plate, that gives you an experience of flavours like no other, is introduced to your table as the servers explain what is on the plate. My parents were blown away by this as we were the first time we came here. The verity of nibbles on this plate that just explode with flavour and gives your eyes a feast in themselves is amazing. The mains, being 2 of the Steak Burgers, Slow Roasted Pork Belly and the Szechuan Tempura Sea Bass were absolutely incredible. We were passing our plates around to try everyone’s dish and i couldn’t recommend any dish over the other. The sea bass was like visiting a true a proper fish and chip parlour down by the sea, like it was freshly caught that day. The batter was nice and crispy, the fish had amazing flavour and the sauce was like something out of this world. The slow roasted pork belly was the best you will ever try, words cannot describe the flavour, paired up with the soy sauce, it made for an amazing dish. The steak burger was no ordinary burger, the steak patty is absolutely incredible, and the sauce alongside the lettuce and pickle made the burger the best you will ever try. We will be returning whenever we can as we are from Birmingham way. But whenever we are over Manchester, we will always be stopping off here for dinner.

We booked the private dining room for our wedding meal, with a total of 26 guests. The booking was for June however we had booked months in advance. In the new year, we were contacted and asked to pay a deposit, which we paid promptly. At this point we were advised of the menus and told to make our pre orders. We were told this was the menu for the day and it would not change prior to the date. We spent time collating everyone’s choices, to then submit them, to be told the menu has changed. The new menu we were given was £37 as opposed to £35. The old menu came with a choice of 3 starters, whereas the new expensive menu came with none. This wasn’t made clear upon choosing our options. I contacted the restaurant 2 days prior to the booking to ask if I could come the night before to set up favours and name cards. The person who answered the phone was rude and told me “can you not do them on the day?”. Given we were getting married, this was not an option. She said she would come back to me however this never happened. My partner then rang the day before the booking and spoke to a different lady who was very helpful and offered to set the favours up for us if we dropped them off. We really appreciated this gesture although we wished that this was the reception we had received on the previous phone call. During our visit, the staff were pleasant and we’d asked for food to be delayed whilst we carried out speeches. Although for the remainder of the booking, the food was slow considering we had pre ordered. The food was average and had it not been for a wedding and the private dining room experience, I wouldn’t have been happy with the price vs food received. When we booked, we had the room from 12pm until 3pm, however this was cut 15minutes short the day before the event and we were only notified via the automated booking reminder email. The waiting staff on the day was lovely and couldn’t fault their service. Pre warning that the restaurant will only split the bill 2 ways so if you’re booking for a large group it means organising people transferring money to each other for meals and paying at the bar separately for drinks. The venue itself is beautifully decorated.

We had a nice time at Grand Pacific. We saw it from our hotel room window at Hotel Gotham across the street, and were intrigued. Stopped by for dinner on a Friday night without a reservation. There wasn’t a table available for 40 minutes, but the hostess recommended that we go up to the bar and she’d find us when it was ready. We enjoyed watching the master mixologists at work, and did our part to make sure they had drinks to make. The place was quite loud on a Friday night, def a destination spot for drinks and dates. Music was fairly loud, at times difficult to easily carry on a conversation. The Thali plate had a nice variety of nibbles, and the Caesar salads were tasty, if not quite garlicky enough for our taste. Overall we enjoyed it, however.

I booked the private dining room for a corporate dinner for 20 people and was asked to pre-order our food. I wrote out to all of our guests and submitted their pre-orders, only to be told that the menu had changed. I wrote out to guests again and submitted their new orders. The restaurant did quite rightly honour the price I had confirmed with them, however they omitted to tell me that the side dishes which were previously included, no longer were. On the evening our guests were expecting their sides as ordered - some of them got some eventually but they were coming out almost the same time as dessert! Given that we had given a pre-order, the service was quite slow. On a positive note, our guests did say that the food was very good. I was a little disappointed that given the amount we spent, no-one from the venue reached out to me to check if we'd had a good experience.

There is no changing room for babys and i was given a changing mat which i had to place on the floor in the cramped ladies toilets to change my child's nappy which is just not ideal or dignifying at all. No lift access. Food- firstly food was undercooked and then found a hair in the salad after the meal was replaced. Disappointing Dining Experience at Grand Pacific Restaurant Rating: 2/5 ⭐⭐ I recently visited Grand Pacific Restaurant with high hopes for a luxurious dining experience, but unfortunately, my expectations fell short. While the service was satisfactory, the quality of the food left much to be desired. I ordered a fillet steak cooked rare, but it arrived overcooked. Although they promptly removed it from the bill upon my complaint, the initial disappointment lingered. The Grand Pacific burger, touted as a house specialty, lacked flavor and left me underwhelmed. For the prices charged at this establishment, I expected an exceptional culinary journey, but unfortunately, that was not the case. Overall, while the ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant, the lackluster food quality failed to justify the high-end prices. I hope that Grand Pacific takes this feedback constructively and works towards improving their offerings to provide the exquisite dining experience that their patrons expect and deserve.

Went in for drinks, took 15 mins to get served. Service was poor. Managers response was below par. 1. Spoke to someone clearing up behind the bar, he said he couldnt serve us and someone would be with us in a few mins. 2. 5 mins later, caught a different guy who said the bar man would be there in 2 mins. 3. 5 mins later, signalled the manager... she nodded in what we thought was acknowledgement but proceeded into the kitchen. 4. A few mins later the bar man arrived and served the couple across us who turned up a few minutes before (i.e after us) 5. Signalled the manager again. As we relayed the isssue, her reponse was that it wasnt her fault as the barman had gone to the toilet. I said had spoken to 2 peolpe and signalled her and no one had told us about the wait. Again, she said there was nothing she could do. After making the point again she FINALLY apologised and offered us a drink on the house, begrudgingly.

We organised a group afternoon tea in the private dining area. It was a disaster. Complete lack of organisation, a failure of the management. Utter chaos! 1) You are not able to cater with large groups in that tight a time slot! 2) If you want to allocate tight time slots, improve the slickness of your service! In a nutshell; We had a time-slot 15:00-17:45. After I arrived half an hour late (temp road closure outside) the servers ‘welcome/not welcome speech informed me : - we had to be out by 17:45 - if we want to pay for drinks as we go, all 25 people would need to go through to the main bar, - if we put drinks on the bill, they will only split the bill into 4 transactions. All very unaccommodating, rigid and unapologetically ‘tough for you’ attitude. You would think that with such a tight time slot, the service would be slick and efficient? You would be wrong. It was chaos. - Orders were not taken till 4pm -It turns out there were not enough serving stands, so when the food started to arrive we had to move everyone’s seats around so that vegetarians had to sit with vegetarians (who didn’t know each other) and allergy had to sit separate from friends to allow others to share.. chaos! - the food was so slow to come out, we were there over an hour before we started to see food, or tea, and service took far too long, - one small pot/cup of tea was all we had, there were no refills. - the scones came out so late 17:45, at the time they asked us to leave. And the plates and cutlery had been taken away.

We booked to celebrate our daughter’s birthday and all the family came in from different parts of the country for the afternoon. We arrived 20 mins early for our booking and were sent to the bar. Took 15 mins to get served. Our table was not ready on time - we got to the table 18 mins after the booking time. We were originally allocated a 2 hour slot. Our waiter was apologetic. A couple minutes after we were served mains our waiter told us it was last orders at the bar! He asked if we would order the drinks we would like for the rest of our meal!!! We finished our mains and after they were cleared we asked to see the desert menu. The waiter told us (very politely) that he was sorry but he would have to check if he could serve us desert!!! We had been at the table for 1 hour 15 mins - it was just after 5pm and our original booking was to 5.30pm!!!! Meantime the restaurant had nearly emptied and an event crew was loudly setting up for an evening party around us. The manager gave us a discount - however this no way makes up for a rare family get together being completely destroyed!!!! Really really upset and disappointed.

I had wanted to visit this restaurant for ages and got the chance last Saturday afternoon. The place is very grand with lots of history attached to it; I could just imagine Winston Churchill ascending the stairs to have dinner in the magnificent dining room before making his speech from the balcony to the waiting crowd in the street below. The menu was good and very cosmopolitan; I had Asian spiced Duck cottage pie with cauliflower cheese and broccoli which was divine. My husband had roast chicken breast with mushroom ragout and edamame beans. The service was excellent and the place was buzzing. The only thing which spoilt it, for me, was the terrible racket which made it hard to hear each other speak. This was caused by the public bar being in the same room as the diners. Big groups of very loud people, shouting and laughing spoilt the whole ambience for me. How lovely it would have been if the whole of the former dining room had been just that, a dining room, with the bar being situated in a side room. Not sure I'll return because of this.

Wonderful High Tea Exceptional sandwiches, beautiful cakes. We would prefer a traditional sultana scone rather than choc chip. It let down an amazing menu. Service was wonderful. Well done to Andrew who managed service in the dining room exceptionally well. Delighted to recommend.

This gorgeous restaurant based in central Manchester is a must! Not only is the architecture stunning but the food and drinks don’t disappoint. Plenty of options and presentation is great. Thank you Emily for inviting us and John who took care of us during the night. Highly recommend

The frame is great, better than in the photos. The food is excellent. Small downside on the service a little bit of waiting and the waitress could be a little more pleasant. The music is a little too loud during the meal.

The Grand Pacific's afternoon tea experience is renowned for its elegant presentation and delightful array of sweet and savory treats. We had a selection of freshly baked scones served with clotted cream and preserves, alongside a variety of delicate finger sandwiches featuring classic fillings with a twist. It also includes a tempting assortment of pastries, cakes, and desserts, showcasing both traditional British favorites and exotic flavors inspired by Asian cuisine. The presentation is impeccable, with attention to detail evident in every aspect of the service. Situated in a stunning Grade II listed building, the ambiance is luxurious with high ceilings, chandeliers, and plush seating. The elegant surroundings of the Grand Pacific restaurant further enhance the afternoon tea experience, making it perfect for indulging in a leisurely afternoon treat with friends or loved ones.

The service and entertainment were perfect at Grand Pacific, really like going there for cocktails. But I was a little bit disappointed on the food. Maybe it’s because I like my food to be a bit more flavorous. Their food is more like a healthy taste, it’s not bad at all but I don’t think I will go back again for the food in short time especially with that price. The dessert was good.

If you need the manager don’t bother, he was being so rude to me and friends as one of his workers had made an mistake which she had apologised for which we appreciated, but the manager was so full of himself and stubborn. If you need help don’t ask for the manager!

What an Experience. Went as a Group of 6 on Wednesday evening. Sat us in the corner table overlooking King Street and the Restaurant. As far as Service, Food and Atmosphere go - I can't say it gets much better in Manchester nor most places in the UK. Definitely up there with the other Top Restaurants you see all over Instagram. Will be recommending World wide.

Flawless service from start to finish. Came and enjoyed the Easter High Tea and it did not disappoint. Everything was talked through clearly so we didn't have to guess what we were eating which is often the case when we go for high tea ! Can't thank them enough for the experience. Absolute hidden gem !

The service received this afternoon was unsatisfactory, as waiter Andre displayed rudeness and abruptness while serving food in an aggressive manner. Our request to change waiters was met with poor service from manager Chloe, who also demonstrated inappropriate behaviour with racial undertones. This is proven by their positive interactions with other customers of Caucasian heritage contrast to myself and my partner who were the only British Africans in the restaurant at the time. I observed Andre spending and having a long conversation with a table but would not even wait one second to allow us to ask questions. This establishment's mistreatment of us resulted in a negative dining experience, which is quite triggering and traumatic. As paying customers we felt very intimidated, belittled and were unable to finish the full dining experience we had ordered.

I've dined here a few times over the past couple of months and every time the service received has been excellent. I was here again with a friend last night (15th March 2024) and, unfortunately, on this occasion we did not enjoy our main meals (not sure if the fish wasn't quite cooked properly) but after just mentioning this to our server, Finn, he spoke with the chef and the meals were taken off the bill - which we didn't ask for, but this shows their high level of customer service and satisfaction. Our starters were lovely, the drinks were delicious, and the building and decor are gorgeous. I highly recommend Grand Pacific and will be back here again in the future.

I want to celebrate my birthday in this restaurant and bring my own cake, but the front desk told me that if I want to eat my own cake, I need to pay them extra 15 pounds. Later, I asked the waitress, and she said that it may be because if we bring the cake, we will not order their dessert, so they will have to charge extra. But I finally got the right to eat my own cake for £5. And they did not give birthday desserts, I think as any restaurant will give corresponding blessings to the birthday people, but this restaurant only considers how to make money, really brought me a very bad experience.

I accompanied my best friend to celebrate her birthday in this restaurant and got bad experience. Firstly, we bring our cake and the front desk told us it will be charged 15 pounds if we wanna have our own cake. Later, when we asked the waitress again, she told us it cuz we won’t order dessert if we took own cake and finally charged 5 pounds. Although I don’t think we got nice service, we had to pay service fee. It should be a beautiful and happy day, but it brought a bad experience. Won’t recommend.

It was my wife's birthday, we arrived on a quiet Monday afternoon after booking and requesting a nice table...we were given the worst table in the restaurant, next to the service area and till. We had to ask to move tables, which we did, the restaurant was nearly empty. We enjoyed our food and wine and then received a small plate with one scoop of ice cream and happy birthday inscribed in chocolate writing on the plate at the end of the meal..what a nice touch. We received the bill and noticed that the complimentary scoop of ice cream which we hadn't ordered wasn't in fact complimentary, it was charged to our bill. Cheapscates and cheeky, no class. Our bill was well over £100 and then they try to sneak on extras, to be honest it annoyed us so much it spoiled our meal. I complained and the member of staff deducted half price off our bottle of wine, a nice gesture which was appreciated but jeez the whole afternoon was really hard work. A simple request to have cocktails at the bar after the meal and then settle the bill was refused, pay the meal bill first. We are both elderly customers, we wont do a runner😀. The bar was ten steps from our table and the restaurant was very very quiet. Anyway, did we feel like a valued customer? No not at all, treated like a inconvenience but it's not a problem, plenty of other places will take our money. Drop the pretentious stuff and start looking after your customers properly. A big shout out to Luke though behind the bar, a down to earth fella. It should have been a special afternoon for my wife but they spoiled it..shame because the food and cocktails were pretty good.

First visit on Friday for a work event and have to say it was fantastic, the venue itself is beautiful inside and really has the wow factor. The building is beautiful, and the string quartet were fabulous too. However, the Sunday lunch that myself and my partner had was at best very average. The roast beef was pretty good, the potatos, vegetables and gravy were luke warm at the point they arrived at our table and cold 10 minutes in. I found a long blonde hair extension type hair in my food which I initially thought was melted cheese from the cauliflower cheese but after delving between my teeth to fish it out, I soon realised it wasn't. I was too embarrassed to complain as the waiting staff were lovely and none of this was their fault. I am particularly disappointed that I emailed Grand Pacific directly, and 3 weeks later, I am still awaiting a response. I thought it best to give them an opportunity to respond but, they haven't so.....that leads me to believe they're really not thar interested in their customers.

Not great! Very overhyped. Dined on a Sunday evening and the music was very loud despite only a handful of people in the restaurant. The service was overkill, we ended up having 2 people coming to our table who were not communicating so kept asking us the same questions. Cocktails took ages to arrive (after the food arrived!) and were mediocre and mainly ice). Mains were small portions and cooked to death with rice microwaved and hard and potato’s brown. Sea bass was tiny. Felt extremely hurried by the waiters who kept checking on us to the point where it was very annoying! Ordered chips as the portion was so small and then while still eating those, was being asked what I want for dessert! They didn’t have the main I wanted, or the dessert so had to choose another option. Overall pretty disappointed! Should have read more reviews instead of going by the overall rating!!

Each table has a time slot of 90 minutes - fine with this in principle. I arrived exactly on time and was told my table wasn’t ready so I should wait at the bar. It was very busy. 10 minutes later I was shown to my table. It was another 5-10 minutes before drinks could be ordered as the server disappeared. Starters arrived before drinks. After meals, I asked for a dessert menu to be told that this wasn’t possible and I had to give up the table as another guest had booked. I explained that I had not actually had the full time at the table through no fault of my own. This was basically met with a ‘sorry’ and a shrug of the shoulders. A table next to mine had an identical experience. If you advertise 90 minutes, then you need to give those 90 minutes - it’s not the guests fault that you’re too busy to handle the volume of people and can’t turn tables round in time. This left a very sour taste and I wouldn’t return.

The decor of the restaurant is very impressive and it has a lovely atmosphere (although quite loud). Our server was attentive and polite, don’t have any complaints about him whatsoever. However myself and my family felt like the food was very underwhelming. I don’t think it’s worth the price at all, with the food descriptions not accurately describing the presentation. I ordered the Szechuan Tempura Sea Bass Fillet which I can only describe as tasting like a Birds Eye fillet, with 0 taste of Szechuan taste at all. I asked our server where the Szechuan component was and he said ‘it’s a powder in the batter’?? Not mentioned in the description at all and I felt like it was the kitchen cutting culinary corners. Likewise with my partners King Oyster dish, which had no mushroom to be seen and I can only assume was in the broth poured over it. Again, cutting corners. I’d recommend the place for a cocktail or dessert, not a beer as they charge around £6.50 for a 250ml of asahi (not even pints) and definitely not for the food. It is a shame to write this we were all looking forward after hearing such good things. As a positive though they gave me a complimentary birthday scoop of ice cream which was a really nice and attentive touch.

Not really viable as a music venue because they don’t advertise what time the music will start. If you ring them up to ask they don’t answer. If you email them they don’t reply. If you use the online contact form they don’t reply to that either. There’s literally no way of finding out.
