Good quirky place but a bit out of the way. I didn't like that if you lived locally you can get discounted drinks. Discount's for everyone would be better.

GRUB at Mayfield is easily the best street food venue in Manchester. For starters there is a good mix of outdoor seating, with plenty under cover if it's too sunny or rains a little. The selection of food is constantly changing but is always excellent and they put real effort into ensuring there are good vegan options (Sundays are all vegan). The beer selection is excellent and constantly changing. The staff are super knowledgeable and incredibly friendly. To top it all off they are dog friendly; they even have a wall of dogs. I absolutely love this place.

Just very odd. Queue of people outside at midday waiting for it to be opened. Finally got in and was very underwhelmed. A grand total of 4 food stalls, 1 South African, 1 bao bun, 1 Indian and 1 bakery. All stalls were not ready to serve at opening and told us to wait until 1 pm for food to be served. The bar inside was fine but just all a bit weird. There were little to no vibes in the outside seating area, no music just felt a bit bizarre. Wouldn’t rush to visit

This is a place with lots of different food stalls outside, outdoor seating as well as a bar inside for indoor seating. I came here for Osaka Local to have Okonomiyaki, which tasted amazing. The owner is Japanese and makes the real deal! I can tell this place would be amazing in summer, but not great for winter or when it is raining or cold. However the indoor seating in the bar is quite nice, a bit basic, and there are more seats upstairs. It’s a very casual atmosphere, but they have a variety of food stalls, in addition to Okonomiyaki there was Korean chicken, a Chinese food stall and chips one. Prices are on the cheaper side. I highly recommend Osaka Local whenever she is here.

Came here for a work do, the atmosphere inside was really lovely and the decor is warm in the evening. A lovely place to catch up with work colleagues in a more relaxed environment. However was slightly outside the main city centre so wouldn’t be easy to stumble across. The vendors food was delicious too however I believe the vendors may not have been told before hand the numbers of people arriving and felt overwhelmed at the time. There also wasn’t a large number of facilities including toilets for such a large number of people and so the queues were very long.

We really love the idea and ethos of GRUB, and have previously had positive experiences. The food was great (pizza from Gatto and fries from Spicy Baby)… service from the food vendors was excellent and personable. General atmosphere was great. Service from the bar staff was non-existent: just blank stares and the card machine pushed towards us. No interaction, smile, hello, ‘thank you’. Not an atom of charisma or customer service. Our friends similarly commented on this.

Great food. Great beer selection. Two large indoor rooms and a large outside area, some of which is covered. Indoor and outdoor bars. Set up is that bars are permanent and then there are normally two to four independent street food stalls, which come and go. When we went, there was a pizza stall, a curry stall, a dumpling stall and a burger stall, so good variety. Whether you like this place will depend on whether you like an 'upmarket' vibe or not... Like the name suggests, the place is a bit GRUBby - it's ramshackle and thrown together - polished it is not - but I liked the vibe - relaxed, informal - nothing distracted from the food, drink and company. Outdoor area perfect for good weather. Would recommend 😊

Came on a Thursday night with a large group of my colleagues. We'd booked a table but luckily it wasn't very busy anyway so we found a nice area in the sun. Unfortunately we had quite a disappointing experience because only one of the supposed many street food traders was open, the vegan dumplings. Only after we'd gone did we realise that mid-week they only have one or two traders open anyway. When we went to order, they had run out of dumplings so we were only left with the salt and pepper chips and hash browns. To be fair, these were tasty which makes it even more of a shame we didn't get to try the dumplings. We ended up ordering pizzas from a local takeaway (Pizza 4 U) and bringing it back to GRUB. The atmosphere was OK as it wasn't busy and there wasn't blaring music. The outdoor space is nice though it gets a bit cold once the sun goes down past the buildings.

Grub, is an amazing concept place. Ethos leaning towards green, vegan and sustainable. Its outdoor area is niche and despite its aged appearance is always full at weekends because it draws us all in, especially for their famed Grub Food Fair where they have so many independent businesses come in and serve delicious food. When the plants are alive (picture included from last summer), its a landscape of colour, greeney and fun. The indoor area and events are great, their main upstairs function room is so warm and welcoming and staff on these nights have always been super friendly and welcoming, and their bar, while not as well stocked as we'd like, has all the essentials and some curious oddities at time. Their cinema and event roster really highlights this place as a community area space, rather than just your average bar or eatery. We've been multiple times and will keep coming back. The reason for the 3 stars is because of their hard to look past faults. No place is perfect, but there are several areas Grub needs to improve on. Let's take the 20/05/23 as an example. We were lucky when we arrived as we got a table, but over half the tables had reserved signs on, for the entire hour and a half we were there they were reserved but no one turned up. Many people came and couldn't find a place to sit properly, even joining our table at the end. Had they been reserved, came, and they left? Cancelled? Were they reserved from 10am for and 8pm sittings? Idk. Simple 'reserved from...' signs could improve this, as we love the food fairs but sometimes seating is a real pain. The next, is health and safety and customer service. The outdoor Grub bar serving cocktails is riddled with health and safety issues. Barman scratching beard then placing fingers on inside rim of glass. Sink used for ice storage dripping down on electrical wires. Card machine went down on previous customers, and we waited a long time to be served, no 'thank you for waiting', no acknowledgement at all not even 'what do you want?', just a blank stare, despite us being overly sunny, not a smile... I'd like to say this was a one off and the barman was having a bad day, but we've have similar experiences during food fair, yet on gaming night and cinema outings, theyve been wonderful. Most of the staff are sunny and delightful, and everyone generally seems to pride themselves working there. I feel if a little staff training and health and safety checks are put into place, this place would be truly stellar. The owners/managers should be proud of what they have as it is a true community space in a busy urban landscape!

Drinks and Grub staff were great - amaretto sours were well made and reasonably priced at the 2 for £10 offer. We attended for the dumpling making masterclass and unfortunately this was really disappointing. They had clearly booked beyond capacity and failed to appreciate the reason why people had booked…to make dumplings. Sadly, ingredients were served up so late in the evening that many customers gave up and went home. We finally called it a day at 10:30pm as there was a huge queue at the 1 (!!!) fryer. Ordered takeout on the way home as was absolutely famished. Flyer promised ‘loads of dumplings’ but we were only given ingredients to make 5. Not to mention there were no cutlery to use in construction, huge queues for 1 toilet to even sanitise our hands. It’s a real shame as this could have been a great event and the ladies who hosted it were lovely but clearly they needed more support from the venue in terms of the logistics and timing. While I love the trader setup outside, I definitely won’t be returning for a specific event.

Both husband and wife lied about what the venue can offer and will manipulate you to keep your money. we were told we were being aggressive and our kind of music/people shouldn’t be here but I’m pretty sure they made enough money from us in the day. The whole day was chaotic and staff members weren’t aware we were hosting an event there. I would recommend getting everything in writing and a formal contract before working with the GRUB. It’s a shame because the Venue is nice but only accommodates for a certain demographic. and you will be treated unfairly. I'm afraid I don't get the hype. The staff were nice but the bar upstairs always had a queue, despite it not being that busy. The cinema is pleasant enough. You could hear the music and chatter outside the door in the bar during the film if you're towards the back. It wasn't that big a deal, and it's a casual affair, but worth mentioning. The beer I had was alright, although over a fiver a pint. I didn't eat so can't comment on the quality of the food, but other people's meals smelled great. The disabled toilet was blocked and overflowing and there is only one women's toilet downstairs, so queues were long. All the paintwork is chipped and peeling and and the polystyrene ceiling tiles were dirty. The sofas were sad and old and upstairs reminded me of an unloved sixth form common room. I must be the wrong demographic. I understand it's a disused commercial building, but it's just a bit of an overpriced dump, to be perfectly honest.

Appreciate what they're going for, but definitely some issues. Quite Expensive at ~£5 for 2/3 of a pint plus £6.60 entry, but somewhat understandable when dealing with small independent brewerys. What is less understandable is getting overcharged twice in the same night. Caught the first one at the bar but didn't spot the second until later which stings a bit. Could also do with more indoor seating as there doesn't seem to be enough to cover capacity. There is plenty of seating outside, but with no outdoor heaters you've got to choose between standing or freezing.

GRUB is always a great option when deciding to eat out in Manchester. Every Sunday they have stall from the best vegan vendors around. I usually go every Sunday and have never been disappointed. Not even the scuffed English weather can dampen the spirits as they have tables and chairs underneath canopies as well as seating inside. I would fully recommend to any vegans in Manchester who haven't been to give it a try one Sunday when you're in the area. 10/10

I've been coming to Grub (at various sites) religiously since 2015. Always a great atmosphere and friendly staff. My wife & I have loved being at GRUB so much over the years we got married here at RedBank in April 2022. The venue/staff was amazing for us, so helpful so I could also heavily recommend them as a space to hire. We had full venue hire which was perfect for a wedding. Can't say enough good words about the Grub family and I'll be there time and time again.

A wonderful visit exploring street food stalls! We visited on a sunday so it was all vegan! The options were Japanese, Indian, pittas and vegan cake. The garden is a must visit a great combination of urban wildlife, nature and wooden palettes creates a quirky decking and seating area. It is a bit of an odd walk from the city centre and the access wasn't clearly marked as a path was marked off. Delicious vegan okinomiyaki, a must try for all!

One of my most favourite places in Manchester, a hidden gem with amazing staff and food vendors. Very dog friendly also which is always a plus!

Amazing place. Lots of different vendors at different times. Their plant powered Sunday is the best. Always a fantastic variety of food. Huge selection of drinks and a really friendly atmosphere, somewhere for kids to play too. Lots of different events going on to suit everyone. Such a great, quirky place to go and have lovely food and drink.

We visited here to see Alessy Rose at Neighbourhood Festival. The venue is small but that was good because we had a really good view of the stage. The venue itself is a bit dingy and sticky but the atmosphere was great. Would visit for a gig again

Took over 20 minutes to get a drink and there was 4 people in the queue. One bartender trying to make drinks for all the tables in the restaurant and serve those in the bar. Really poorly managed. I’d go elsewhere

As usual, top drawer food. I brought my friend from the States and he said it was the best Caribbean food he's had. Rum punch was punchy and we were very well looked after by the hostess.
