Haunt in Manchester

Great chilled atmosphere even though busy. The food was delicious. Nice fresh ingredients. We both chose Pollo Arrosto- lemon roasted chicken, herb aioli, gem lettuce, and beef tomato on a ciabatta. Italian seasoned fries on the side. Flat White, and freshly squeezed orange juice. Would definitely recommend this eatery.

Cosy bar, nice setting and great happy hour 4-8pm each day making it the most reasonably priced in that location.

Best Sunday brunch, fabulous coffee and great vibe. Staff were great and food fresh. Coffee was delicious. Top marks to the team

I had double espresso and cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll wasn’t something special, but tasty. The coffee wasn’t good it was definitely sour and I like bitter taste of coffee. It was really crowded and loud place.

Have bot tried the food but the drinks and the coffee are great as well as the atmosphere and the spot

Went here for the first time. Food was good (only came for coffee and French toast) but service, not so much. As we entered, none of the staff approached us to welcome us or tell us where we should sit. They just stared at our faces. So we found our own seating. Nobody came up to us to give us menus, again, they were just staring at our faces or the staff were talking amongst themselves. So we had to go to the front and get our own menus. Had no idea how it worked so had to pull a staff member and ask how we order. Went to the till to order and the guy serving just looked like he didn’t want to be there. Waited a while to receive our food which surprisingly they brought to the table and didn’t have to go to the till and ask. Once the food was handed to us the staff just kept to themselves. It’s like they only talk to you if you approach them or if they have to. Really bizarre service and not very welcoming like any other cafe you go to.

Dropped in on a Wednesday morning. Nice atmosphere, relaxed, few people remote working with coffee, few brunch dates. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had a flat white and the Nduja Hash with poached egg and bacon. Service was fairly quick. Food was delicious, with a great portion and smooth coffee. Will visit again!

Great food, great service and a good atmosphere for brunch

We’ve been for lunch, we’ve been for afternoon drinks and we’ve been in the evening for drinks and nibbles. Every time this place shines. The doorman is probably the friendliest in the city and the bar team are lovely too. It has a great drinks selection and the nibbles are pretty good too. One of my favourite features of this place is the view of the library and the Midlland - come at night when they are both lit up!

First time went there, service was good. We got Muffuletta which was tasty, a bit heavy on salt, and steak&onion which was delicious. The coffee however came cold, I like my coffee hot, personal taste. The only downside of service when we asked for mayo, the bottle was offered almost empty. Having said these, we’ll be going back!

I recently visited Haunt coffee shop and was left thoroughly disappointed. Despite the cafe being relatively quiet, I had to wait an inordinate 30 minutes for my caramel cappuccino. To make matters worse, when I finally received my order, it was plain and lacked the caramel I had specifically requested. Definitely not the service or quality I expected from such a place.

I recently visited ‘Haunt’ for a coffee and brunch, and it left me with mixed impressions. The food was good; I opted for a sandwich, and the ingredients inside were flavorful and enjoyable. However, I couldn’t help but wish that the bread had been toasted instead of being warmed in a microwave. It’s those small details that can make a big difference in the overall experience. As for the coffee, while I’m not a coffee expert, I did notice a slightly burnt taste that didn’t quite align with my preferences. However, the latte art was well-executed, adding a nice touch to the presentation. Despite my personal taste preferences, I still found it to be an alright cup of coffee. In summary, ‘Haunt’ has its strengths, particularly in the quality of ingredients in their food and the skillful latte art. However, there are some areas, like the where it might benefit from a bit of refinement. It’s worth a visit if you’re in the area and looking for a cozy spot, but it may not be everyone’s top choice.

Friendly staff, delicious aperitivo Spritz.

Hugely disappointing. We waited for over an hour just for a couple of sandwiches, which ended up being pretty average anyway. The focaccia sandwich was surprisingly small and the bread was too oily. The apple juice came in a teeny tiny glass, full of ice, so barely any actual juice.

It's expensive for alright coffee

As a Manchester cabbie I’ve driven past this place a few times and always thought it looked great. Took my wife here for lunch today and can confirm it is indeed great. Very reasonable priced must dishes were under £10 fantastic location to watch the world go by. Staff were polite and attentive. Food was fantastic. Good vibes and clean toilets.

Terrible experience, orders were wrong, sent back but still wrong on return, food was not of a good standard, one member of the group did not get the order as we gave up and left. Woukd not recommend.

Such a nice experience at Haunt MCR. The iced coffee hit the spot! We came here around 2 pm when it was boiling. They had the windows and doors opened so a fresh breeze was flowing through, they also allow dogs which made our day! Emilson was great! Will be here again

Great coffee shop and evening bar. Ambience is great whether in the daytime or evening. Food is quality alongside the staff who are all attentive, easy going and chatty. The fact they all love the dog is a bonus. Treats and water are always on hand!

Been frequenting for a couple months now & it’s become one of my favourite spots in the city. Everyone who works here is kind and personable without being in your face- this contributes to the overall relaxing laid-back vibe during the day that makes it perfect for a coffee. As a chef, I’m personally a bit of a snob when it comes to cafe food but the sandwiches are well thought out while avoiding being obnoxious. I haven’t tried any of the pastries yet because they haven’t necessarily jumped at me but maybe this will change. At night, it’s absolutely buzzing with great cocktails to match. It tends to get busy during the weekends so I’d recommend planning properly but worth the effort if you manage to grab a table. (Also, the bathrooms are thankfully always in great shape which we all know is rare for the city centre) Absolutely an underrated gem, 5/5 recommend.

My colleagues and I come here for after work drinks every week and always have the best time. The great happy hour deals alongside the staff and their good vibes make this a venue worth going back to.

Came in afternoon for a cocktail. Very antisocial every table had someone with a laptop. Won't be visiting again!!

I asked if they had a vegetarian version of the full breakfast the staff member proceeded to say it’s an Italian in a sarcastic manner. There are vegetarians in Italy that don’t just want avocado or egg!!! unfortunately the latte and cappuccino were not up to much, both were exactly the same. Perhaps you could put less effort in to being rude and more effort into making the correct coffees!! I then asked for a brownie which never came and finally when it came to paying the bill the staff member advised they don’t take cash. No where on the premises does it state card only.

Great ambiance, really nice place. Only my opinion probably needs more selection of beers.staff are very nice and has a great vibe.

Got a half glass of juice because I asked for no ice, for £3... Eye rolling and attitude from the staff was free.

I love coming to this place for coffee and drinks in the evening. It looks lovely and has a good atmosphere and isn't too loud or busy especially in the evening. Would definitely recommend!

Thursday evening 9pm. We get in, feels like an old western movie, except no ones turn to look at us. One bartender is sitting at a table having drinks, one is behind the bar trying really hard not to any interest towards us. We sit down, tables are dirty, no one cares. I wait 10 minutes, no one comes. I stand in the bar, bartender still trying really hard not to notice me, hoping I will disappear if he doesn't look. I try to order, he mumbles something, I'm assuming it's some kind of old course. I dare ask for a hot chocolate. He looks at me like I'm a moron. He points at a half cleaned coffee machine and simply says "we are not doing hot drinks mate, it's clean". I stupidly ask what time they close, believing that if they are cleaning I won't have time for a drink. Still two hours, he simply decided it wasn't time for hot drinks. I go back to my table, reconsidering the menu. The other bartender stands up from her table, goes behind a bar, makes couple of drinks, brings them to her table and sits back. 10 more minutes pass, someone clean tables, everyone avoids me like I just coughed in the middle of the pandemic. I wait until my hope dies, passing my time, consider how many beautiful careers they could have picked if hospitality didn't really interested them. I stand up and move to the door. I try to turn one last time to see if my absence will be noticed. For a second the guy behind the bar looks at me, he regrets it instantly and goes back to polishing the same inch of bar he has been wiping for the last half hour. I like to end on a positive note, at least the chairs were comfortable.

I wanted so much for this place to be good! Such a shame. Its lends itself to a good working environment. But in reality its NOISY with stupidly loud music and overly try-hard on-trend staff!

One of my favourite places in Manchester for coffee, lunch, dinner or a glass of wine. Great atmosphere, delicious food and the staff always go out of their way to make sure you feel welcome. Fantastic alternative to working from home as well. Highly recommend!

My favourite Cafe/Bar in Manchester I come here all the time, great vibes and delicious breakfast, lunch, beautiful coffees and delicious pizza. Super friendly and helpful staff 5 out of 5.

It 30 minutes already and I am waiting for my soup during lunchbreak. I am clearly frustrated but nobody is paying any attention . Five minutes ago it was " on its way". I asked again, no chance of soup. I asked again, waited again, got it after 30 min of wait and had to ask twice. This place used to be good. :(

Lovely atmosphere and decor at Haunt, it’s a nice place for a more chilled out drink with friends (where you can hear yourself speak, the music isn’t too loud) and a great place for a date. I haven’t tried any food there but the coffee is good and drinks are reasonably priced.

Went there for brunch. Though the menu is quite limited, all dishes tasted great. I loved soup of the day. The sandwiches are tasty as well. Not too expensive also

Visited with friends - was a pleasant afternoon unfortunately I was double charged when paying . I rang up the day after and was told there is no way to refund me unless I go in - I live away from Manchester so would be 1. expense 2. Inconvenience I rang again after speaking to my bank as they dont understand why I cant be refunded over the phone I even asked for a cheque or if a friend could bring evidence for me again no . So a warning to anyone visiting Manchester check straight away when paying or you'll not get money back without travelling back! I have to wait 28days for bank to dispute it also not great !

Hot chocolate very nice my bf love it!! The coffee is good but they charge you extra for changing the milk and idk if it’s a Manchester thing but for some reason the coffee cups are small and not very good according to the price.

We went here for brunch. They don't have the usual brunch options but have a range of ciabattas that you can choose from which are really yummy! The ingredients were fresh and they were very filling. Very good value for money too.

Possibly the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had! Vegetarian filled ciabatta roll with mushrooms, fried egg avocado and a vegetarian sausage. Absolutely delicious - and a pretty nice view of Central Library too.

Nicely decorated but in a non-authentic fashion. The guy behind the counter was a little bit short. We sat in the front corner behind the coffee bean grinder which was a bit loud.

Great spot for a quiet working coffee or post work spritz, really does it all. The lunch is fab and can do sandwiches on gluten free bread (win). Above all the staff are so friendly, always greeted with a smile and it makes my day!

Went in for breakfast/brunch because of the sign outside but was disappointed in their options. Staff weren’t very attentive either which is probably somewhat normal for a bar but when you’ve got a sign claiming you do brunch… we’ll it’s a whole other ball game.

New place with a nice outdoor seating. Great Italian beer on tap. Very tasty soups and sandwiches. Excellent cheese board. Update August 22. Had a couple of bad experiences recently, alas. First, their soup had so much pepper in it that it was inedible. And today they simply didn't serve food. Not a reliable place anymore, crossed it off my list.

Went in for a drink in the evening, The cocktail I had was very sour, it had a lemon flavour, which made my throat numb and couldn’t speak with my normal voice, the other customers in other tables were chatting in quite a loud voice, which is not the atmosphere that I like.

this place was a very cute place in my head until i got here and the staff told me to take off my hijab and convert to christianity all whiles doing 50 jumping jacks and several cockroaches attacked me other than that it was nice apart the water, it’s was cow pee

What a coffee! Ordered a mocha latte, one of the best I’ve ever had. One star down as they didn’t let me smoke outside at the terrace though, quite unreasonable.

Beautiful coffee, stunning interior and an awesome team behind the bar! I get black coffee when I go to Haunt because I know it'll be sweet every time. The staff know their stuff and they always make you feel welcome. The interior of Haunt is unparalleled and so are the drinks! Definitely a must-try if you're in need of coffee or after-work drinks! Can't recommend it highly enough.

Nice atmosphere and convenient location. The quality of the food and ingredients is really good, the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the small choices of savoury options for brunch (a slice of sourdough or ciabatta with the possibility of choosing between different toppings).

We like this place but they closed early tonight without notice and didn’t let us stand in the doorway whilst we book a taxi as it was raining. Quite rude! We are regular customers but won’t be back.

Positive.. a friendly lady who greeted us and was very helpful. Place was very clean. Coffees were nice My partner had a blt that he said was ok Negative.... overpriced for what you get. A "loaded" sourdough toast is only loaded if you pay extra and to be honest not even then. 1 small piece of toast with small amounts on top (and they forgot one of my toppings) . When i gestured to the waiter over to ask for my missing ingredient he looked really annoyed at me. £9? Quality of what was served was average You can get a full english if you head up the road to cafe north or nearby at Gorillas for just £1 more.

Good vibe overall, seems to be be decent for food and cocktails. However, the Americano was one of the worst I’ve ever tasted for a whopping £2.90… it tasted like liquid tar, and this is someone who’s worked at numerous cafes before. Not only that, but I had brought a packed lunch to eat with my coffee and studying in a corner, not bothering anyone, and one staff went all the way upstairs to tell me I couldn’t eat any of my own food here, even though I had bought that overpriced coffee.
