Fat Panda in Highland

No chicken in salt and pepper shredded chicken, just batter. Noodles tasteless. Just disappointing as used to be soooo good before!

Just absolutely amazing. What a place! VERY fast service, delicious food and great service. Huge portions of delicious food. This place actually MAKES Portree in my opinion.

The hot and sour soup was delicious and invigorating, and the salt and pepper prawns were the best that I’ve had.

Disappointed to see the poor reviews for the Fat Panda on TA. Went there whilst in Portree as pubs and restaurants all full on Saturday nights, need to book in advance. Beef + mushroom and Lemon Chicken plus Chow Mein were ey good and filling. Expensive compared to back in Yorkshire, but everywhere is in Portree. Fish n Chips on the harbour now £10.50, was £8.50 last year. Too dear.

Overcharged (AGAIN) for order. Called to ask why? Told, we got what we wanted. Yes, we did, but the price charged, was NOT the price advertised on menu. This is the third time in past six months this has happened. It WILL BE the LAST. Terrible attitude.

Most expensive, worst Chinese takeaway ever experienced. Beef and mushroom..more like leather and ancient fungi. Chicken satay...pale and uninteresting, chicken was chewy and sauce was bland. Do not go here. I was told that they had been shut down by environmental health this year and whilst the kitchen may be clean now it does not produce very edible food.

Visited this place on 9th July as we had just arrived on Skye. Ordered Spare ribs in BBQ sauce, Beef in Black Bean Sauce, Special Curry , fried rice + boiled rice - came to £34.50. The spare ribs were quite nice with plenty of sauce, the Beef in black bean was just ok but not much sauce and the special curry was lacking meat etc - there was lots of onions and not much sauce either. On the whole, the meal was over priced for what we had and didn’t have a lot of taste however, we ate it but wouldn’t go back even though it is the only Chinese in Portree.

Bis zum Essen kamen wir gar nicht. Da für meine Frau und mich eine Mindestverzehr von 50 £ aufgerufen wurde, meine Partnerin aber nur eine Vorspeise wollte, verzichtenden wir dankend. 40 £ waren dann nicht ausreichend für das sehr herablassende Personal. Ansonsten machte die Einrichtung einen äußerst billigen Eindruck und der zugeteilte Tisch direkt vor der Toilette tat sein übriges.

There didn't seem to be a single available restaurant table in Portree on the Saturday night I was there so ended up opting for a take-away from Fat Panda. Ordered the beancurd in black bean sauce and egg fried rice, and an order of veggie spring rolls which came with chilli dipping sauce. Order was ready in no time. Portion sizes were huge (would probably have fed two) and the food was very tasty.

Phoned our order from the campsite and it was ready when I arrived to collect it, just as well because not much room to park outside

Fat Panda is a small, carryout-only Asian restaurant in downtown Portree. We got carryout twice during our week’s stay in Portree and thoroughly enjoyed both times. A very efficient Asian woman runs Fat Panda and takes orders and will tell you when the order will be ready for pickup. All works great. We enjoyed the broccoli in brown sauce on order of rice. Had vegetable rolls, but they did not seem to have a lot of vegetables in them. If you are up for carryout while in Portree, highly recommend Fat Panda.

Tout était parfait mais dans mon bœuf aux oignons les oignons étaient crus je n’ai pas pu apprécier mon plat. C’est la première que cet incident m’arrive sur ce plat.

Abbiamo optato per questo ristorante da asporto per le cene durante il nostro soggiorno sull'isola di Skye. 5 stelle più che meritate sotto tutti gli aspetti analizzabili. Avendo ordinato 3 volte abbiamo potuto provare diversi piatti della cucina cinese, sono risultati tutti davvero ottimi, bilanciati nei gusti, cucinati davvero bene con ingredienti di qualità. Abbiamo apprezzato in particolare la bontà dei gamberi e la tenerezza di pollo e maiale. Porzioni a dir poco abbondanti e prezzi assolutamente corretti per qualità e quantità del cibo. Molto immediato e veloce l'ordine online, gli orari indicati per il ritiro dello stesso vengono rispettati con assoluta puntualità. Consigliatissimo se, come noi, dopo diversi giorni di pub e cibi tipici si vuole un po variare.

Had a take-way from Fat Panda this evening. It was shockingly bad. No egg in Egg Fried Rice, Sze Chuan Chicken swimming in grease, salt n pepper spare ribs which looked and tasted disgusting. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. May as well have flushed £45 down the toilet, it would have been a better experience.

We read the previous reviews but due to lack of restaurant availability we opted for a takeaway. The food was absolutely delicious. The portion sizes were huge and piping hot. Reasonably priced too. We’d highly recommend the Fat Panda

No malgastes tu dinero, este lugar debería estar cerrado, la comida era asquerosa. Pedí curry especial de la casa y nunca había comido un curry con tan poca carne, y tienes que pagar 3. 60 para el arroz. Pollo al curry y arroz frito con patatas fritas no es una comida gourmet, pero en porciones abundantes y en cuanto a calidad no está mal - caro, pero esa es la trampa para turistas de Portree para usted. Sabía bien si un poco picante pero aceptable iv tenía peor. Se han implementado las medidas de seguridad habituales de Covid y el servicio es lento debido a la situación actual: solo EFECTIVO, así que esté preparado si visita.

Fantástico. Servicio rápido, aunque con restricciones de covid, podría habernos hecho saber que la comida estaba lista (ordenada por teléfono) ya que estábamos parados en la calle por un tiempo en la cola. The food was all tinned, over cooked and starchy. The restaurant is just turning out rubbish as it is the only Chinese food around.

I just got fried rice, curry sauce and chips. First the chips were re heated and were hard to eat. Secondly there was not enough curry sauce in the chips an the rice had a hair in it. When I went back to confront the owner he said he would give me a free portion of prawn crackers!!! What a cheek would not return!!! Also it was very over priced!!! Beware stay away!!!!!!

Absolutely great. Really quick but good food. We were 4 and we all tried different plates, all was beyond our expectations. Good prices as well. Definitely recommend it if you're in a hurry!

No es frecuente que pruebes Panda, pero este establecimiento tiene el Panda más sabroso de este lado de China. Ah sí, mis amigos, estuvimos en China hace un par de años y probamos este delicioso manjar preparado por el Chef One Long Pong. Pensamos que nunca podríamos volver a experimentarlo hasta que nos encontramos con este Take - away en Escocia. Su Panda está recién capturado en el lago cercano y es asado a la perfección. Va muy bien con papas fritas y se derrite en la boca. Ah! entonces.

Arrived in Portree late on a Friday night and this was about the only place open. Unfortunately it was a mistake to eat here as it was by far the worst Chinese I have ever had and I have eaten at numerous Chinese takeaways in Scotland however this was by far the worst I have experienced. Chicken was spongy and tough, batter was soggy and rice was way over cooked. Would definitely not return even if it was the only place open in Portree.

Order came 1 main missing, had chicken and rice, salty and tasted horrible. My friend had the exact same dish and it was totally different, the sauces are probably added at the end instead of cooked with the ingredients. Spend over £60 and had to cook ourselves by the end.

We didn't plan on coming here for dinner, but after Hurricane remnants hit the Isle of Skye, every restaurant in Portree was packed. We are really glad we ended up here, though! Long wait, as it too was full to the brim with hungry patrons, but well worth it.

Ordered a takeaway from the Fat Panda on Saturday evening past. A wet Scottish night required a wee Chinese’s takeaway and it was delicious! We phoned in our order and uplifted it 20 minutes later. Staff were very friendly, food tasted great and was still warm after a 15 minute drive to our accommodation.Highly recommend the chicken fried rice and shredded crispy chicken!

Ordered 3 dishes tonight and all were excellent. Very fresh vegetables with tasty sauces. Some specials on display inside restaurant that you won’t see if looking for their menu online. Easy to order by phone and lots of customers coming in and out. Would definitely come here again!

Siamo stati costretti a prendere dei piatti d'asporto qui perché tutti i ristoranti di Portree erano ormai pieni e attratti dalle buone recensioni. Forse abbiamo preso i piatti sbagliati, ma abbiamo buttato tutto e abbiamo rimediato qualcosa al supermarket vicino.

Food wasn't great, tasteless and greasy and frankly quite expensive for a Chinese take away. Staff very dismissive. I wouldn't go back there again.

Went in to order a vegetable chow mein, the lady at the toll double checked with me and I thought she understood me well but she thought I wanted a Singapour chow mein, and I didn't get it because of her accent. I only realised back home there were prawns and chicken in it. Being allergic, I came back to the place with the untouched order to get what I actually ordered. The lady prioritised 5 other clients before me even though they turned up after and finally had to deal with me since there was no one else to serve. I explained what's happened and she told me in a rather aggressive tone she couldn't do anything as it is not only her fault, she also accused me of eating partially the food and she finally said to me quite louldy that I need to be more careful next time, as if it was my first time ordering food. She ashamed me in front of other clients that turned up during the conversation when it was absolutely not needed, putting everyone waiting in an awkward situation. I can't believe I have been talked the way she did and so were the other costumers. I strongly do not recommend that place as on top of this, food wise, it was not good.

This takeaway in Portree has not left any positive reasons to respond in this review. The food was greasy, bland the chicken was tough, almost like a dog chew. I dont think it was fresh. Either overcooked or re heated.If you visit, pleas try something else.

I tried to ask the lady taking orders about some of the food as I have dietary restrictions, she was less than helpful - she couldn't answer my questions and couldn't even be bothered to get answers from the kitchen a few feet away. She suggested I went to the nearby co-op and buy some bread for dinner! Poor service and bad attitude, can't comment on the quality of the food as I didn't even get that far...

I was recommended this take away after finding restraurants very expensive. Prices were good, it’s very busy and we had a bit of a wait, but it was worth it. It was delicious.

Pasamos este lugar un par de veces durante nuestra estancia en Portree al final de la calle. Cada vez que estaba muy ocupado, así que en nuestra última noche decidimos llevar lejos de allí. Tienen un menú grande con muchas opciones y obtuve la salsa de ternera en Oyster. Fue tan bueno. Me recordó un lugar donde solía comer en Los Ángeles cuando era niño. Probado casi idéntico. Este es uno de los mejores platos chinos que llevo en mucho tiempo y fue una sorpresa agradable de encontrar en la pequeña ciudad de Portree. Definitivamente lo recomiendo!

If you are looking for something different to the usual pub food in Scotland, which is pretty limited, then this is the place to go on the Isle of Skye. Friendly service and great tasting food. Very fast service also. Definitely worth a visit.

The Fat Panda is a good Chinese takeaway without seating, with the usual menu range. It attracts locals as well as tourists which I always think is a good sign. We were a little worried about insulation as we were taking the food back to Kilmuir but it was still piping hot, even the soup.

We had a takeaway from here whilst staying in Portree. The food wasn’t fresh and our Hong Kong Style Sweet and Sour King Prawns were very tough the batter was non existent. We got the tiniest portion of sauce and the boiled rice was very stodgy. Both meals were cold. It came within minutes of ordering which suggested it wasn’t made freshly for us. Very disappointed. Only Chinese takeaway in Portree and we certainly won’t be back

Was on a Romantic break with my husband and we decided to go out to eat one evening. We really fancied Chinese and found Fat Panda, what a find! We ordered beef chow mein special fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. It was delicious...

Jay and Pauline make sure that they serve the best food to their customers. I have never tasted Prawn Toast as delicious as theirs. We shall be back.

Not easy to find hidden down side street, but very quick efficient service with very pleasant young staff, food was good Chinese fare.

只有營業17:00～22:00，生意相當好，除了東方來的觀光客以外，也看到許多當地人來光顧，價格合理，沒有內用只能外帶，也有電話預訂，生意太好，人多的時候要等一陣子。在氣溫偏低的天空島，熱騰騰的東方食物相當吸引人。店員是香港人，可以用粵語溝通，也備有中文菜單，對東方遊客來說是相當方便且合胃口的選擇。

The small restaurant is quite near to my hotel, which is also in the centre. In spite of small, there are a lot of people to get there as well as calls to order continuously. Therefore, we had to wait for our order in 25 minutes because we did not call to order before. We ordered 4 dishes for 2 people in a total of £23. I think that this price is suitable for a such take-away restaurant, and the quality of food is good in general. I will come back Fat Panda if visiting Portree again.

Mit Reis liegen die Gerichte bei knapp 9 Pfund pro Person.
