Not sure what the hype was as the burger was bland! The chicken is got was so oily. The fries were OK just luke-warm

They have some delicious burgers and some fantastic deals. The staff is very friendly and accommodate your dietary needs. Ordered have previously ordered American, Dirty Waffles, Swiss Burger, Dirty tots, PB&JJ Burger, Vegan tenders and slaw.

a must try! me and my boyfriend popped in just before close (which we can only apologise for! we were desperate for some grub after a long day.) and they were more that accommodating. they warned us about a wait as they were busy, but food came super quickly. it was perfect, in every sense; it is the kind of burger that just hits the spot, super messy and high quality. highly recommend the frickles if you love savoury! staff were a little stressed, but remained perfectly professional and lovely and only made our experience better as they were clearly working hard. my only gripe is that we were seated very close to where they store their menus and takeouts which was next to the door, so we felt like we were in the way a little bit and would often catch a chill from the delivery drivers coming in and out. this wouldn’t of been an issue if costumers who came in after us didn’t get to choose their seats rather than be assigned, but again, a very small issue for an otherwise lovely experience!

Really lovely little restaurant food came out with in 10 mins of ordering and it was pretty much full! Staff super friendly and helpful

If you go to this restaurant, don't expect anything other than a basic experience. We waited 40 mins for our dinner to arrive. The waiter made up an excuse that we'd ordered chicken, so it takes a long time to prepare! This was clearly rubbish, not least as we saw them serve our meal to the wrong table (who came in 20 minutes after us, which obviously had chicken). Staff made some noises of apology when I called them out on it, but the underlying tone was, 'tough luck'. I've been to Beefy Boys in Hereford, and they know how to cook fantastic burgers and provide amazing service, presumably FatHippo gets enough trade not to care, so be warned.

Table booked for 630 on Saturday evening for myself , my partner and 6 year old daughter. When we were seated , we were looking through the menu , when we were told quite abruptly that we would have to be finished and gone within an hour due to licensing as we had our daughter with us. ‘The server will now take your order’ without even checking if we were ready or not. Awful service. From that point on, everything was rushed. We were made to feel like an inconvenience. Chicken burger came out still wet with oil ( clearly rushed) to get us out. Didn’t order starters or desserts as a result. Partners chips undercooked. Overall, poor dining experience. Very small and hectic. Not made to feel welcome. Wouldn’t return.

Ordered Five Lies burger with waffle fries and Notorious VFC with fries. Burgers were lovely and waffle fries were great! However the vegan gimme smore cookie dough was a huge let down. First for how long it took to arrive (I do actually think they forgot about the order) as I had to ask when it would arrive. And when it did there was no cookie dough? But as I’d waited ages for it to arrive in the first place I just accepted my £6.50 cup of ice cream. Service was great in the beginning too but waiting ages for the dessert and then the bill in the end did let it down overall unfortunately.

Came here with my girlfriend, was greeted with huge smiles and got sat down immediately. We ordered the born slippy and the hangover 3. It was absolutely delicious and would recommend to upgrade to the super fries or “go dirty” on your fries. Would happily recommend this place to anyone as it’s super friendly and filling for the rest of your day. Thank you

I don’t normally like unusual burgers, but I thought I’d try something new and have the peanut butter and jelly burger. It was absolutely delicious! I also loved the tater tots and the blue cheese dip. Sadly, the milkshake machine wasn’t working, but the staff were great and there was a nice atmosphere inside.

Really enjoyed our visit to Fat Hippo Brum, sos much so I returned a week later when in the city on business! Succulent burgers, so nuch nicer than McD or BK! Our server Marta was super friendly and attentive, burgers were delicious. The only minor criticism is the ambience is a little dark and it's difficult to hear when full, but didnt spoil our experience. We'll be back!

Seems like so many before us have had a similar experience with the service. Food was great but never felt welcome. Staff were not interested and just really very angry. Lots of huffing and eye rolling, it felt like we were at a Karen's Diner!! A confusion on which starters had bacon and which had facon meant the unhelpful waiter storming back to the kitchen , coming back in a foul mood to say they are remaking the one with facon. We were given the bill before even having chance to look at the desert menu. They definitely wanted us to leave so they could have an early night. I wish I'd have read these reviews before going. It begs the question whether management are actually addressing this like some of their replies to these reviews suggest.

Visited to try the buffalo chicken wings and a double chicken burger. Service was fast and pleasant and waiter was lovely however. The food was fried in very old oil so the wings tasted very greasy, lacked so much flavouring; didn’t have much salt or even any of the ‘buffalo’ sauce. The chicken burger was average, fried in the same old oil, probably your local McDonald’s can serve a better burger. Would not return again

Just excellent, On the afternoon we visited it wasn't busy. We really struggle to find a good burger for my wife who is gluten free. This had everything we needed. Burgers were tasty and succulent. Staff were attentive but not overpowering. Thank you fat hippo for a great experience

Doesnt look like much on the outside but... Everything about this place is awesome! The atmosphere, the staff, the food, the music... all designed to make you feel welcome. A great gluten free menu with lots of choice and full flavours. Friendly and attentive staff but not in your face all the time. Background music but not so loud you can't have a conversation. Portion sizes are large with generous toppings and sauces. Just a wow experience! We will be back.
