Absolutely lovely place to grab a beer (or few) and learn a bit more about the brewing process. My wife got me some vouchers so we came by. Andrew was brilliant, gave us some detail on the various beers, gave us some quick details of the process showing us some of the vats for brewing. We got some beers for home and enjoyed a pint at the lovely mini pub. On google maps it says you need to go right at the end of the country lane but you need to go straight on (there is a sign which is looking a bit worse for wear and hard to see).

What fabulous personal service! I purchased vouchers for my son as a present for Christmas and was unsure they would arrive in time with the postal strike. Arrived home to find Farr Brew had hand delivered them to my door . Just fabulous above and beyond for customer service.

My toddler bought two brewery tour tickets for her papa and pops for Father's Day, and I think it is safe to say that the tour went down very well! The men both learnt a lot and even more importantly had a brilliant time! Highly recommend 😊

Visited here whilst working in Hatfield and after seeing the sign decided to pop back when they were open. It's a bit rustic and the price of beer isn't cheap but it tasted great and definitely worth a stop if you're close by and they're open.

Small brewery hidden in the countryside, mashing some nice real ales. The brewery is only open to the public on weekends. Tours are available for £10 a head. All beers are £3.50 at the time of writing. A little disappointing, given the lack of facilities! However, the quality of the beers is undoubted. You can always make your way to the nearest Farr pub, the Elephant & Castle, for the full retail experience. Recommended.

After a 5 mile walk to the Farr brewery, was wanting for a great pint and they delivered!!!! Excellent “Farr & Away” - am popping back today to enjoy another pint outdoors and of course a small takeout 🍻

For a proper pint in a peaceful rural setting this place ticks all the boxes. Would have been a 5 star but the toilet lets it down.

A great brewshop to browse (and, obviously, acquire a tipple or two) on a Saturday or Sunday. Their Christmas mini-market was great too!

Such a hidden gem! Really cozy little tap room with lovely staff and great beer. Had a few pints and then was able to purchase some bottles and a few pint glasses to continue living the 'Farr Brew experience' at home! Can't wait to return!

Great beer, well-intentioned service and impressively awful food ... Having drunk some excellent beer from Farr Brewery over recent years, we tried the Elephant today as a party of 4+2 children. Our experience was very much a mixed bag. We arrived early so had a beer whilst our children played together in the play area (incidentally the stench from the drains was quite overpowering). When we were seated in the lovely tipi, we ordered the fish and chips and, I must say, it’s the first time in my life that I’ve felt I needed a steak knife to cut fish. I’m not sure what mistake the chef had made: over-salting; leaving the poor fish under a heat lamp for a day; overcooking it or indeed all of the above, but the result was a fish with the appearance and texture of a corkscrew. The desserts also were unsurprisingly a mixed bag. The chocolate and date torte (thankfully shop bought) was very edible; the pairing of passion fruit with a jam and almond-based pudding, misguided. The outside toilets are genuinely repulsive. Like, hold your breath and breathe at your peril kind of awful. Some positives. The beer was excellent. The play area is a God-send for families. And the service was well-intentioned, though we were only asked whether the meal was ‘OK’ having already parted with £80 and the bar maids didn’t understand what beers they were selling (e.g. light, dark, hoppy, malty, strong, weak, etc.). In these difficult times for pubs, it’s great to support your local. This is a pub that serves great beer, but really needs to find chefs that do the building and the great little brewery justice. For now I’d recommend you come for a beer and skip the lunch until these re-opening teething problems are overcome.

Daughter had a gathering here in the Tap Room after her wedding . It was amazing the effort to make sure everything went smoothly was faultless , it rained and truly it didn’t matter , everyone was sooo impressed with the venue and staff, truly magical place , highly recommend, whether for a drink , while out on a dog walk or a gathering for family and friends , the micro pub on the high street in Wheathampstead “reading rooms” is very nice too , bar staff are very clued up on ales , gin , ciders etc well worth a visit , friendly place

This is a fantastic local brewery creating delicious hand crafted beers in beautiful surroundings in the Hertfordshire countryside. I’d recommend visiting the tap room for a quiet pint and a tour from Nick - very informative and extremely interesting, or checking out their beers in some of the local pubs - it seems you’re never ‘Farr’ from a Farr Brew stockist (Ye Olde Fighting Cocks always seems to have some on tap), I love their Pale, Porter or trying one of their seasonal specials.

We visited the Farr Brew taproom to see the packaging we designed for them in it's natural habitat! We had a fantastic time, receiving a tour around the brewery from Nick and sampling some of the fine Farr Brew ales. The Tap Room's comfortable and inviting and the rural location is perfect to relax in. Top Tip: If you're planning a visit make sure you have a designated driver/book a taxi as it's a little out of the way. But never fear, the pubs of Wheathampstead and Sandridge are only a couple of miles away!

Nearly everything was good, the food was excellent , especially the poached eggs. The pricing was reasonable for the quality of food. The service was friendly and swift, the waitresses were lovely. However, I have not given 5 stars overall, because of one member of staff who came across as rude and abrupt. This same individual, also muttered rather loudly to his staff, as we were leaving ; ' have they paid?' luckily for him, my partner only told me when we were halfway down the street. I am not clear what gave this man the impression , we were the type of people who would not pay for our food. I am new to st Albans and up until now everyone has been lovely and welcoming. I am hoping this was an off day on the part of this person. I think he was the manager. We would definitely, eat here again, but this man needs to sort his attitude out, as it has put me off, sadly.

We ordered a takeaway from the here last night, Fri 12th Oct 2018 - it was the best ever!! The phone was answered promptly and very politely.I love lamb but VERY rarely have it as a curry...our friends 'highly' recommended this restaurant and I understand why now!!!I had lamb sag and my partner lamb madras - both absolutely gorgeous and tender. The whole order was excellent!!!My partner picked the ordered up, no wait involved, price as per the menu and we could pay by contactless.Nice touches - the carry bag said Thank You' on...perhaps these days once this stock has ran out the restaurant should think of going to paper bags??And the bar of chocolate inside was a lovely surprise - that was tasty too!!EXCELLENT in every way!!!
