It was good, not amazing. I had chicken first two nights…would do so again. Tried the rump steak. That was just o.k. Wouldn’t order it again. Service was good.

A little bit of background. I have been a member of Motion Fitness gym for several years, which is part of The Copthorne Hotel, and an occasional visitor to The Copthorne bar, for the odd drink, and christmas meal . Tonight however , left me shocked, gobsmacked, and yes, even frightened. I am a 60 something year old guy, who, with my mate, decided to pop in to the bar and watch the local football match on SKY TV. I was served by this guy, and whilst he was pouring the drinks, i asked him if he minded putting the local derby on the TV. Judging by his facial expression , and body language, i knew that he wasn't happy with this request. I proceeded to pay for my order, and he went off to serve another customer, request ignored basically ! After a further few minutes, (match had started), i politely asked him again if he could change the channel. It was at this moment, in utter disbelief , that he let out a torrent of verbal abuse, in front of several customers. Basically yelling ' Can't you see i am f'ing serving a customer' ! If you don't stop this behavour, i am not gonna f'ing serve you again' ! And a few minutes later, as he left the bar to go somewhere, maybe collecting glasses, he got in my face and snarled 'dick head' ! I mean, how do you react to this sort of situation ? I am guessing he was under the influence of some substance, or else he is mentally unwell. Not wanting to enflame the situation, we found a table and watched part of the match ( i wasn't in the mood any longer to watch all of it), then once i had got myself together, i requested a meeting with the deputy manager, who was really professional, and sympathetic. Basically, he is going to review the CCTV, and get back to me. How i will prove what happened , without audio proof, i do not know. But i can't believe that this is the first time that this individual has been reported by customers of The Copthorne. Indeed , i see that another tripadvisor member has previously highlighted a certain male bar staff employee who was rude, and should not be working in this industry. Hopefully The Copthorne will speedily address this issue, and get this employee sacked. Watch this space....

70th birthday party. Absolutely excellent. Lunch for 22 guests. Staff are amazing especially Beth who was a great help with my planning. Every starter and meal was beautifully cooked and presented. Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff. Highly recommend it.

Another lovely return visit to enjoy the relaxing surroundings , delicious food and wonderful service given in the Restaurant. Beth was outstanding as usual and her team were all hardworking and to hand with any issues or questions you have . Which is why when travelling from Somerset we always stop here for food . The smiles and service received is outstanding and they are a credit to the company . Beth , you are a breath of fresh air and thank you for looking after us .. Well done to all the team x

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel and had a meal every evening. Two nights there were 4 adults and 2 children and one night 7 adults and 2 children. The service and staff were excellent and couldn’t have been more helpful. The food is fairly standard which was fine for us all and reasonably priced.

Superb customer service from the minute walking into the restaurant. It was my birthday weekend and travelled from Somerset to meet up with family . This is the second time we’ve used Faradays . Becky and her team are absolutely brilliant. Attentive , smiling , and made us feel like superstars . The food is delicious especially the faggots served on a shovel ( brilliant idea ) Chef did us proud . So thank you Becky and gang for making our night outstanding . The company should be proud having you guys working for them . 5* service given … Thank you

Visited for a casual drink with friends after a trip to the gym and was served by Trudy. Very pleasant and efficient , great customer interaction , served nuts and snacks at the table to accompany the drinks . Highly praiseworthy

This hotel offers a breakfast buffet which is fine, plenty of choice and I had a little of just about everything. The fried egg had been on hot hold a little long and was solid no were near runny....it has to be runny!! The cold buffet was extensive and the coffee machine worked and was relatively tasty. Staff helpful and friendly although notices apologising about supply chain shortages mean that they are probably getting some flak, which isnt fair its happening all over, we just need to get on with it and accept what is on offer at the moment. The restaurant its self is I think really nicely decorated with booth seating around the outside and both inside and outside seating which is nice in the warm summer months.

Was quite busy for a Monday but waited over 90 minutes for a cheeseboard. Chased after about 50 minutes and was told the supervisor was on it. Supervisor came and asked if it was the burger i had ordered. Confirmed it was the cheeseboard and then nothing...... After 90 minutes I went to the bar and cancelled but was told by a staff member pulled in from events that they couldnt refund me and I would have to see reception. In all those respects, the customer service experience was abominable. The only positives - the lady behind the bar who did her best try to move things on in a courteous way and was probably as frustrated as I was (and probably undairly took the brunt of my frustrations - so apologies if you read this) - the guy on reception who sorted things out in a measured and professional way, acknowledging my frustrations and calming me down. On the whole though, a very bad experience for a simple cheeseboard order.

Its a limited men at the moment but it was tasty enough. On the first day I had the Rump steak which was OK, bit tough but then its rump so it had good flavour. Fish and Chips the next night, not bad at all would have liked a few more mushy peas and the batter was slightly undercooked, but again to be fair tasty. Would look forward to stopping again when they are fully open and I can sit inside and eat. The serving and waiting staff were excellent, very a tentative and professional.

menu is a poor pub menu.starters were ok .asked for meatballs with spagetti told got none asked for lamb shank told got none so ordered cheese burger for 2 people and chicken breast for 2 people.when food came it was cold so sent it back,one of the chicken came back and it was cold again.finally food came out hot burger totally overpriced may as well gone to mcdonalds.asked staff for a floater coffee they did not know what it was. cannot call this a restaurant.

Staying at the Copthorne Hotel it seemed natural to try out the Faraday restaurant situated within. Sadly I wasn't permitted to sit in the restaurant without producing my registration card (a cardboard casing for a room key received on check-in) to evidence my room number. I explained that the card was back in my room but it shouldn't matter as I wasn't intending on changing my meal to my room anyway. Wrong. Turns out that this did matter! Like border control, the restaurant policy is only to permit people who could show said registration cards. To emphasize how ridiculous this is I asked how do they manage walk-ins not staying at the hotel. Without any hint of irony, the manager told me that the policy only applies to hotel guests as walk-ins obviously can't produce the much-required card. Truly this is a particularly unusual brand of insanity. And good luck with it! I've taken my business to a place across the road which lets you sit down without needless identification.

Staff were were really polite however left a lot to be desired Baby squid was actually rubbery octupus, garlis bread was soggier than seaweed and chef clearly needed to relearn how to cook spaghetti which came out in clumps. Not sure the reasoning behind the need to blast out music, I came for a meal not a disco!

Staff were fine, however the food was mediocre at best. £11 quid for a goodfellas pizza, lamb shank was tough with still frozen veg and the kids “slider” burgers were normal full sized, when I queried this they said they could get the chef to cut it up for me . Don’t waste your hard earned money here.

Food is not great, small meals , over priced and took two hours for our meal. Very few customers in the restaurant. Staff were clearing away all the spare tables while we were still eating which really put us off our food.

After a lovely morning relaxing in the spa we finished our day with afternoon tea and cocktails in the restaurant. The food was excellent and very filling with a good choice of sandwiches and cakes. The cocktails were gorgeous and went down very nicely

T'was the night England was supposed to bring it home, the wait staff were very agitated and distracted which was understandable as we all were anxious for the outcome of the match. Starters were quite small but flavourful, mains the fish and chips was more like a kids portion, desert looked nice but tasted and smelled of eggs as if the chef did not know how to use vanilla and the ice cream that came with all the desserts was very icy. But what is truly unforgivable is bringing me the wrong bill for my table when your restaurant was not busy, just goes to show how inattentive your staff were on the night, as soon as they dropped the bill off they ran away to thr kitchen and did not return for 5 mins. And for trying to stick me with an extra £40 on my bill you have completely lost all members of my party as future diners.

The restaurant is typical of what is wrong with many hotel restaurants, where the audience is captive and the effect is of no consequence. We sat outside initially to take in the evening sum, only to have to relocate indoors due to the outside seating being the overspill of smokers from the bar. When will the message get through that smokers and food don't mix! To prevent non smokers from eating outside is surely discrimination. Then, the food. The menu is fairly basic and uninspiring. I settled for the chicken tikka masala, which bore no relation to the real thing, and comprised of strange cuts of chicken in a tasteless sauce. The house red wine was very average.Not somewhere I'd rush back to.

This is the on site restaurant in the Copthorne Hotel. Nice atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. Starter of lamb skewers had moist juicy lamb with a really nice dipping sauce, and the main of Piri Piri chicken was well cooked and flavourful.If you are staying at the Hotel, and dont particularly want to explore, you will get a good meal, at a reasonable cost.Thoroughly enjoyable.

Best Chinese takeaway in the area!! The lady at the counter is always so friendly, the food tastes amazing and orders never take too long to make. The prawn toast and crab claws are so good, 10/10 would definitely recommend.

Really lovely staff and a lovely shop. My coffee was lovely and there was a variety of alternative milk available. It’s lovely to see a coffee shop that does not charge extra for alternative milk! Overall we had a really pleasant experience and found the staff to be really lovely
