Fairwater Tandoori in Cardiff

Do not eat here. The quality of food is awful. The boiled rice was covered in food dye, trying to pass as pilau rice. The popadoms are salty. The starter was a sloppy greasy mess. I called to give feedback and the restaurant did not care. Very disappointing.

Just awful, we phoned to ask what was used on the rice to make some of it fluorescent green and scarlet red as my daughter is breast feeding but the person wouldn’t answer, he just said that if we went again he would give us a free item. Which we very politely rejected as we definitely would not be a returning customer.

Worst Indian restaurant! Incredibly disappointed with the food. Rice was soggy boiled rice with what appeared to be pink/green food colouring dripped over the top. Onion bhajis were greasy and overcooked. Called to complain and was offered no explanation as to the quality of food which was received. The restaurant said that they would give a free item if we went back. No chance will we ever be going back. This is the worst take away I’ve ever had…

What can I say had a takeaway Thursday as I was in the area and so glad I called in I had kebab puree starter absolutely delicious full of flavour.. chicken curry absolutely outstanding pure chicken breast off the bone and mushrooms rice keema nan bread I have been eating curry for over 40 yes and this is definitely one of the best I have had asi will be traveling from pontypridd to buy in bulk for my freezer this is my go to takeaway as of now nice clean light premise and excellent service too thanks for the excellent food

Very nice would order again. we had the butter chicken, mixed tandoori, chicken tikka dupiaza, pilau rice and a garlic nann. bit disappointed they didn't have saag paneer on the menu. only small issue with the food was that it was heavily greasy.

Food mediocre but their delivery man was rude and intimidating. It was very upsetting. Update: After I rang the shop about the encounter, the delivery man sent me an abusive text, which has left me truly shaken. I rang to order a simple takeaway and have become involved with someone I regard as a threat. I don’t know what to think or what to do at the moment - I feel so affected by it I am afraid to be in the house on my own.

It's a take away only but I think it's best madras in cardiff &,I've tried more than 20places lovely big chunks of chicken innit lovely 😍

Had to wait an hour and a half for a delivery which was then 10/15 minutes late on top of that, when it eventually arrived I opened the bag and my food had spilled and gone everywhere and was freezing cold and the poppadoms I couldn’t eat because they were soft and stale. I have ordered from here a couple of times and never had a problem but this time, I’m really disappointed and won’t be ordering from here again

Great food, big portions and reasonably priced. Always impressed with this place, has never failed.

I preordered before the restaurant opened at about 5:20 pm. Despite leaving a few messages asking where the food was and being told it was en-route the food finally arrived at 8:00 pm. This is not acceptable and is not the first time that delivery has been so bad. No apology just told they were busy. Lovely food always good food but a three hour wait for cold food means I won’t order from here again: our large Christmas party will be looking for an alternative option.

Waited an hour and delivery still not arrived. Called the restaurant to ask what’s happening and he said it will be another 45 minutes. Told him that’s disgusting and he said “I’m not even listening to your complaints I’ll just cancel your order”… he cut the call off and cancelled my order refusing to give a refund! Worst experience I have ever had with a takeaway… highly recommend avoiding this place!

First time I’ve been to this Indian in Fairwater I was shocked to see rating one on the door. I had second thoughts decide to buy a curry. One of the staff was cutting onions one dropped on the floor up and start cutting it. I confronted this they denied it and said he went into a pot which was on the floor, Shortly after that, I never chef come out very rude and mouth off I was struck by this attitude. Then they were arguing amongst them selves, as one guy was in the wrong, and the other guy is trying to calm down with the attitude of the chef. Curry was watery and disgusting won’t be going out again lesson learned rating one star on the door. 🤢🤢😡

Really poor again - gave it another go to see if a one off but very weird chicken in the s Pathia and tasted strange. Gutted as used to love this place.

I had ordered Chicken Tikka masala and I got butter Chicken. These people don't know the difference. They also gave me tanduri chicken which was quite bad and hard to eat. Overall, avoid this restaurant if you are looking for a decent taste and fresh food. I will not order again from here.

I order from here quite a bit and it’s usually very good, not sure if they’re different chef tonight, wasn’t the same, the rice in particular. Also ordered prawn madras, which actually tasted really lovely but only had a handful of prawns and now a full container of sauce. Just feel for the price you should get a lot more prawns.

This is my go-to, favourite Indian takeaway without a doubt, in Cardiff. This is an old school Indian take-away, with food cooked in a particular, classic way I just love. The food is consistently tasty, and very well seasoned. Service is friendly and efficient. I find they combine spices and other 'core' ingredients with a good degree of culinary skill and balance. The textures of the meat and veg included in a given dish work well together. I like the subtle hints of cardamon, cinnamon and even honey in many of their special dishes. All the ingredients are fresh, and of a very good quality. A great traditional Indian takeaway. I highly recommend this place. Many thanks to Asim, Haroon and all the staff at Fairwater Tandoori, for your dishes you make for me most weekends!

First time ordering from here and so glad I did. Food was delicious. The Indian I normally order from is closed for refurbishment, I’ve tried quite a few Indians over the years as it’s my favourite food. I Will definitely be ordering again….🙂

Not the best, had a korma was quite runny, rice had a funny lemon smell to it and only 3 prawns in my prawn purée! Taste wise was nice but quality not great.

Wasn’t bad but the food was cold by the time we got home and our trip wasn’t long :-( my mother didn’t like it at all ,not sure what’s changed since last year but it’s not as good as it was

We decided to give this place a go as they left a leaflet through our postbox. We called them, placed our order and was told delivery will take 1 hour 10 mins. Despite the long wait, we persevered. After 1.15 hours, I called and was told it was on its way and to give it another 15 mins. 20 mins later, I called again and they then said ‘oh the driver couldn’t find your house so he’s now back in the restaurant’. When I started complaining, he slammed the phone down on me. Note that we did not receive any calls asking for directions or receive any notification that it was not being delivered. This is by far the worse experience I’ve ever had and rest assured, we will not ordering from this place ever again. Their leaflet is now in our bin. It is a shame if their food is delicious. You’ve lost a customer for good!

Two and a half hour wait for the food, not acceptable even if they were busy, just eat app “What’s happening next” update said enjoy your food, so I rang the restaurant and they informed me the delivery driver had left. When I asked how long ago he left I was asked to hold, they came back and told me he actually had not yet left and would be leaving in 5 minutes, 25 minutes later the food arrived, 40 minutes passed it’s delivery time” food was good but the salad with the starter was pitiful to the point of embarrassing. Fairwater tandoori has changed its name to Fairwater Balti since the last time we ordered, so I guess it’s a change in management also, sorry to say that I don’t imagine we will be ordering from them again, we have been ordering from them for the last 6 years so it is a real shame!!

Recently had a name change from Fairwater Tandoori to Fairwater Balti. Ordered food from this place twice in the past two weeks and have collected it from the shop each time. Last occasion we had chicken tikka pathia, chicken tikka korma and a chicken tikka kebab with mushroom rice and pilau rice, bombay potato and plain naan breads. All the dishes were extremely tasty with lots of flavour and the chicken tikka cooked beautifully. The Naan breads seemed to have been cooked fresh and were lovely and fluffy. All in all an excellent meal.

If I could give no star i would I had special byryani meat was tough, couldn't eat it little bit of sauce for rice, mushroom baghee was OK but food was freezing rang twice to complain & got hung up on

One star is too many, food looked and smelled disgusting nothing like what it should of smelled like! Very disappointed will never use again.

Have been waiting since 1905 when I placed the order on juste at. Have just called for the second time to be told the driver is out and they don't know where they are. The manager refuses to come to the phone, instead letting someone else take the frustration of customers. Poor service on behalf of the take away and the manager.

The food was fantastic from this take away today. I and my family thoroughly enjoyed it. We had an absolute pleasure of a driver named Lucy who made us laugh. She was exremely friendly and fast. She's made the experience 5/5, Highly recommend Fairwater Tandoori!

We were a regular here ordering Twice some times 3 times a month for over 2 years this time I ordered they had changed there recipe didn’t tell us before hand the food Was vile phoned up to complain and ask for a refund was rudely refused and then shouted at and put the phone down never again

Read some of the previous reviews and I think it does depend who you get on the phone as far as comprehension is involved. Whenever I've called, on account of my fatal allergy, they have always been clear and the food was delicious every time

My lovely meal was pipping hot authentic with both meals having a rich tasty sauce I was given two complementary poppadoms I really liked my meal and I would recommend it and will certainly go there again sue Harvey

The order was incomplete (no rice). I thought the food was bland. I was charged £2.00 for delivery even though the flyer stated it was free on orders over £10.00 and my order was around £27.00. This is my first and last order.

Ordered a delivery at 5.05pm just after they opened was told an hour. 1 1/2 later call up and hear a guy in the background say tell him it’s just left- make sure you put customer on hold 😂. Call again at 7pm and again it’s just left !!! Said 5 mins and hung up, it did indeed turn up two hours late, poppadom stale, samosa cold and tiny for £3.60, chips cold and overall very greasy. Only tried it as we had a leaflet through, lesson learned probably worst Indian I’ve ever had! P.S one of the recent good reviews is from the delivery driver 😱😱😂😂 - AVOID AVOID AVOID

I ate hear the other day and decided to have a little gander at the ingredients in use. Blimey o riley I found a rusty nail, long black hairs and instead of using cow milk they used breast milk. I was very appalled at this gnarly behaviour, my temper was unrivalled. Please do NOT go here at all costs, it will be either bland, give you food poisoning or you will find a bad suprise in your meal. The boss is very rude and does not cooperate at all, he shoved my niece even in these corona times because she cried a lot. Disappointed Regards, Amanda Barrago

Absolutely disgusting opened the rice to find a long black hair in the rice bear in mind we are all blond phone the takeaway to well what do you want to do all the drivers are out I have a photo but not sure how to put it on but I will be taking this further

We were recommended the Fairwater Tandoori and we were not disappointed. We have ordered 4 meals from them to date. Whilst the delivery times have varied this is not a problem for us as it's well worth the wait. We can recommend the lamb tikka bhuna but everything is beautifully cooked and piping hot. Friendly and polite service

Disgusting service asked for vindaloo sauce got mild sauce and only 1/4 full asked to deliver the right sauce they wouldn't only offering 20% off next time as if I am going to get food from you again and your chicken under cooked to dont use

Don't bother. Ordered on just eat, charged my card but cancelled the order their end as they say delivery was too far. Have to wait 2-3 days for refund. Don't advertise delivery in my area if it's too far then!!!!

I orded from the Fairwater Tandoori for the 1st time last night. Curry was very bland and the nan was so dry. After tasting my curry I had to go into my cupboard and add my own spices to make it more palatable! They do put a lot of chicken in their currys, but I wouldn't go back there again or recommend. Also when I collected the curry it was cold. Very poor meal indeed. Simon.

I’ve eaten in almost every Indian Restaurant in Cardiff, and I can say that I have a great curry every time from these guys! Allow an hour for delivery, but much slower if you are ordering off a third party website! Try the Chicken Pakora starter - amazing!

Becoming a bit of a fairwater tandoori addict absolutely lovely and im the pickiest Geordie when it comes to food. I recommend the chilli chicken tikka masala although everything is beautiful never had meal ever ....nice people too
