The pizzas are good but the dough is a little too thick for me.

Eve was amazing. In the glamorous and tendy Virgin Hotel. We had a great time just checking out the roof lounge, many chill rooms, they have something like 3 different bars in the building. Out back of Eve, there is a gorgeous terrace with chairs, tables, couch like multi-level lounge steps. Oh the food... we had pizza, pasta, fish, few apps, bread, wine, and cocktails. All of it was top-notch. Some of the best service we've had in Edinburgh. It was one of the overall best restaurant experiences we've had, anywhere.

The prices are really good for a 5 star-hotel The ambience and decoration is amazing and the service really welcoming. The waiter Przēmyslaw make me feel welcome and was really attentive

Great thanks. Service was perfect. Staff so friendly and welcoming. They couldn't have done more to make it a great dining experience. Thanks. Only reason for 4 stars was as follows; - the kids bolognese was pretty tiny (the kind of portion I'd expect to feed to a toddler) which slightly disappointed one of our kids. Especially when compared to the Calamari which came with chips and was much bigger, but strangely cost less.

Visited today for a late lunch with our son. A but disappointed that we were not offered any of the special offers advertised also no kids menu was offered which lessened out sons enjoyment. Not the most family friendly environment. Nice atmosphere and quality of the food we ordered was good however small improvements would have made it a better experience.

Best to find another dining option. Food subpar, horrible service. Some drink and food orders never arrived. Wait staff totally inattentive especially for larger group. Had to request food and drinks multiple times, while staff and management just sat around oblivious.

Not what I was expecting in terms of how classy it was, it gives the feeling of a chilled jazz bar, top notch food, relaxed atmosphere, 10/10 will be back!

The food was really good and the customer service was great. Especially our server/ Bartender Przemyslaw was very nice and understanding.

No option for someone with special diet reuqirements and / or allergies. Unfortunately very disappointing experience. Due to a food intolerance the main dish I fancied was no option. The waitress although friendly checked with the kitchen for alternatives and basicically verbally only gave me two options to eat without even showing me the menu again. Both were unappealing. I opted for some sort of see food polenta which tasted horrible. Additionally, some of the included mussels tasted crunchy. They waitres asked whether I want something else. But keeping in mind that I've only been given verbally two options from the whole menue, I kindly declined. So I ended up leaving the place starving and having a frozen pizza at the house. Definately won't be back.

What a lovely restaurant/bar within the Virgin Hotel in the Cowgate in Edinburgh. Great service & atmosphere 👏. The food & wine were really nice too. It's definitely worth a visit.

Avoid confusion with table booking and an extremely rude general manager who thinks it is OK to call people by email confused. It's an overpriced bar with bad staff and organisation. Avoid a lot better bars in edinburgh.

Food was great, unfortunately the food took 2 hours to get and they forgot about our dishes multiple times. We were unable to get refills and dishes were cold by the time everyone was served. Caused my wife and I to get into our 3rd argument of the night. She left me. Had to squeeze the lime from my Gin and Tonic for sustenance. The manager felt bad and took off the service charge, but nothing will ever get Jennifer back. Tldr food good service bad

Stay far away, unless you like olive garden quality Italian food, soupy risotto, extremely loud music, and very long wait times. IDK how this place required a reservation. I should've ordered take-away.

I do not recommend at all. Me and my friends went here as we wanted to try a new restaurant, the service was slow firstly even though there was only 2 other tables in the whole place. Our drinks took 25minutes to come and then the food took around 45 minutes in which they got my order wrong after that long wait which increased my wait to around an hour. The food was not good especially for that wait and the girls working there all had a bad attitude although we were trying to be nice. We will definitely not go here again it’s pricey and not worth it save your money and time!!

stopped by for breakfast on my husbands 40th birthday very welcoming from start to finish Adam our server went above and beyond to make my husband feel special on his day. the food was also amazing. would recommend to anyone wanting to visit.

Went here for a work lunch. I had the cheeseburger and honestly it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I couldn’t actually believe it. Maybe it’s because I’ve never had wagyu beef before but it was unreal. Some of my colleagues had the crispy chicken thighs which they also enjoyed. It was quite quiet during a weekday lunchtime but that was fine.

Went to Eve after hearing good things about it but very disappointed. The brunch menu looked good but when the food finally arrived, the brisket tacos were under whelming and very chewy! The sliders were also quite disappointing and not to the standards I’d expect from Eve.

Food was hit and miss - some dishes were beautifully presented. Others not so much - Steak, egg and chips looked like something out of spoons but triple the price! Service was very slow too. Great place though - had live music which created a great atmosphere

The food we ordered was just horrible. We ordered the duck siracha Benedict, which was served with a bed of waffle, the waffles were so sweet that I could bite into the sugar granules the other was prawn roll, they served us Stale bread and the prawn filling was so basic that even tesco sandwiches does a better job. Do not go and eat here, the place just looks good but the food is terrible.

The drinks are nice but expensive. Service charge is not disclosed at any point other than small print on the menu. I always tip nicely but really disagree with forced/sneaky service charges like this, at least when they aren’t disclosed. It doesn’t really make much sense at a bar to be charging a 12.5% service charge to pour a glass of wine.

Nice location, unfortunately it is quite loud in the rooms above the bar in the evenings. The breakfast wasn't good, but the furnishings were even better.

Service atrocious. Waited 20 minutes from being seated to even get offered a jug of water for the table. Felt like staff were avoiding our table to go to other guests. The only decent part of the brunch was that the food was amazing. We had a brunch burger, 2 x Spicy Cauliflowers, and the Brunch Board. Atmosphere was lovely with a live band, then DJ.Took a while for staff to come back to check how we were and to get the bill.

Food was good but the service was quite bad in the busy morning. Flagged down people a couple of times to get served and never did. Seems like a lot of others around us had the same experience. The main problem with this is that they have to serve you coffee… you can’t just get your own at the buffet. If you want coffee with your breakfast you should probably go somewhere else.

We went there for brunch and we paid 37,5£ each one for a plate of lame, a croque monsieur and a waffle with chicken. We ordered cocktails that have no alcool in it. Music was extremely loud we couldn’t even hear each other while talking. And service wasn’t kind at all. Terrible experience extremely expensive for the amount of food, service and quality very very poor. I would never come back.

Inattentive and unbothered staff, had the french toast which was one single slice of slightly burnt yet cold bread. Waited with empty plates for 30 minutes had to eventually go to the bar to pay. Overall very disappointing experience especially from a hotel. Gutted as we had high hopes but just not worth the money or visit certainly not for dining anyway.

We stopped here for brunch and were truly amazed. Excellent location and excellent quality food (0km products). We opted for Eve's Larder which is the Italian "all you can eat" version. There was a large buffet and great vibes. When we left we saw that there was a band of guys, who were starting to prepare to play live music. Finally Manuela welcomed us with a big smile and was very hospitable (thank you!).

Excellent sharing dishes and burger sliders. We were in at lunchtime and they had plenty of options for vegetarian, gluten free and omnivores.

Great cocktails and even better service!

Been 3 times in the last 10 days, the first time was impeccable, great and attentive service and food. The last time (most recent) the service was lazy and inattentive. Fizz served up in a lipstick smeared wine glass, a highball glass so hot (straight from a dishwasher) I had to ask for ice before I could transfer the can of beer I was given. The second time the food had a long blond hair stuck to the plate of sliders... removed it an ate on, giving the benefit of the doubt. The 2nd time I had to clear a table in the bar (which was empty bar one couple) to sit where we could be seen by an arriving friend. You may well ask why we keep going back... it's rare to find somewhere in the old town with table service and a guaranteed seat. The potential for Eve is beyond amazing. The staff training and motivation needs attention.

If you‘re looking for a great brunch spot, this is it. The food is so yummy, the cocktails are nicely mixed, the atmosphere is great and the staff is one of the nicest we‘ve experienced in a long time. We highly recommend Janis, he‘s very friendly, attentive and nice to chat to. :)

When I walked in, I was ignored by all staff and it seemed as though everyone was in a panic - the female bar tender was really abrupt and rude, she had no interest in serving us. We were then served by multiple people, giving it a less personal touch. We ordered the French toast, which was almost tasteless, the only good thing was the maple syrup - I think the toast was almost burnt. We then sat in the bar area, but there was no one there to serve us behind the bar. We heard other customers complaining about the French toast. All staff wearing different clothes so didn't know who was actually working there. I put down on my booking that it was for a birthday, but no acknowledgement of this was made. Overall, a very disappointing and expensive experience, which put a downer on the rest of the day.

Visited for a work event (so can't comment on the regular menu) but the food was great and the venue itself was stunning.

Very "Edinburgh" if you're familiar, love music could be a little quieter during lunch but I can see how it would be excellent later on. The Hirata buns were lovely, and waffles are always a win Presentation gets a big tick Actual service was fine and plenty of atmosphere, only complaint, coffee arrived 5 minutes late and only a ⅓ full. 4/5

Great atmosphere and ambiance. Ask for Ollie and he will take care of you. Cocktails were superb and service was the perfect level of attentive but not intrusive. Great bar, definitely go again.

Food was okay but small portions for the proce (shakshuka and pancakes were very small). Atmosphere was good with some live music but service was poor. Took nearly 30 minutes to get served and waiters weren't attentive and annoyed when we asked for sauce. For the 12.5% discretionary tip it wasn't good enough. Also, the brunch board which was advertised online was no longer on the menu.

They say service at the table but nobody actually bothers to come, we stayed from 7:30pm to 00:30, they came 3 times only. I went to the bar cause nobody was showing up to take orders and ask for a Negroni and if it was possible to be send to my table. The bartender (a short blonde girl) was highly rude, more interested to look at the band playing. She rudely said it was only table service and even though I apologised for the inconvenience she was still rude with me and overpriced my drink for no reason from 12 pounds to 13.50 pounds. These kind of people don't deserve to work in hospitality. Only good point was the band, very enthusiastic and good performers. One of them it's a dear friend of mine. The rest was overpriced and not worth it.

Enjoyed the space, but , the coffee is awful.

Had breakfast here and sad to say I'm extremely disappointed and don't understand the hype. I asked for honey with my tea it never came by partner said the eggs beni were OK but my waffles were terrible as if frozen from a packet, chewy uncooked dough and not any crisp I don't think it even saw a waffle iron. I'm not a conflict person so I didn't but I really wanted to send it back and not pay for them they were that bad I could only force myself to eat 1.

Had drinks here during our recent stay in Edinburgh. The bar is ok, but not as good as I’d hoped for. The staff were generally inattentive and seemed far happier chatting amongst themselves. I prefer an alcohol free Mocktail, but they didn’t seem to do these. They did drinks that contained alcohol free spirits, but not a choice of ‘Mocktails’ as such which I felt was a shame. I had a drink with an alcohol free Gin, but this unfortunately, was awful tasting. The gentleman in charge (I think) was very understanding when I let him know the drink was awful and offered to make me another, but I ended up with a glass of cranberry juice as again, they don’t seem to do any stand alone Mocktails. I wasn’t charged for either drink for which I am grateful, but if you want a Mocktail, Eve is not the place unfortunately.

Went in here for a drink with 2 friends during Edinburgh Cocktail week and ordered a round of the £5 promotional drink. A 12.5% service charge was automatically added to the bill, which I don't agree with for a small drinks bill without being given the option. What made it worse was being presented the card machine with the option to add a tip. Not noticing a service charge had already been added, I did include a tip which worked out at 30% of the bill and pretty much covered the cost of an extra drink. The service was okay but this felt sneaky. I won't be back.

Decided to try Eve for their Sunday brunch. Nice menu selection and a nice vibe with live music provided by a couple on guitar and harp. However the service left a lot to be desired, which seems a problem with lots of Edinburgh establishments these days.

Stopped by for a cocktail week beverage and the staff could not have been more pleasant! #Holly. Excellent cocktails, I had two! Nice band was playing. We’ll definitely be back!

I had the best brunch everrrr here this morning. My best friend was visiting me in Edinburgh for the first time and I really wanted to wow her so I decided to take her here (despite never having been myself yet). What an amazing choice that was because we both agreed that it was the best meal that we had had in ages. She ordered the French of toast and I ordered the croque madame. That croque was PHENOMENAL! I will come back time and time again just for that. The drinks were also amazing. We ordered the Bloody Mary and espresso martinis. My friend always orders bloody Mary’s and she was very impressed that our waiter ginnis asked what spice level she wanted (she said whenever a waiter asks that, she knows it is going to be great). The service was also impeccable. Our waiter Ginnis was so kind and attentive. He really made the experience even better for us! We will definitely be back and highly recommend it!

Had an amazing day/night last Saturday at this event. The food and entertainment were superb. Our server Colin went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience, he really gave us rhe 5 star treatment. Can’t wait to come back!

Maybe it’s just my high American standards, but the food was terrible and so was the service. It looks good in pictures, but for a restaurant in a 5 star hotel, this was pretty bad.

I had a beautiful lunch on Monday 14/8/23. All the staff members were very kind with a big smile,the food was amazing and also i have visited the toilets which i can say its was absolutely amazing clean toilets i have even seen on my travels. Well done guys

The food was edible but it was so disappointing. I ordered the Avo bennys. The eggs were over cooked, everything was cold and has clearly been sitting out for a bit before coming to the table and we were waiting 20 minutes for the check. I really wanted to like this spot because the food and venue has so much potential but unfortunately I will not be going back.

This was our first time here. Had a great experience overall. The atmosphere was beautiful and the food was delicious. We went for Sunday brunch at 12pm and everything was great but we were trying to catch up and once the live music started we couldn't really hear each other and had to shout over the music. I think live music is fun and a great addition but maybe not so loud on a Sunday afternoon.

The Soul Foundation - Saturdays 9 piece solid band. The best! Can highly recommend coming just to see them. Transformative performance! Food is expensive but tasty. Service was excellent. Our waiter with the silk shirt and pearl necklace - you were simply the best! Everyone else was an influencer

A brilliant bar/restaurant with delicious food and excellent food! Our server, Andrew, was fabulous, courteous and entertaining. He made us laugh with a brilliant conversation and his wit. Andrew deserves a special thanks for making our lunch experience so special on our last day in Edinburgh back in May 2023.

Probably the wrost strawberry daiquiri I've ever had. I was a bar tender before and I know exactly how it's supposed to be. That was a glass full of ice with pink colour. If you don't know how to make a particular cocktail it's better to say that and propose an alternative. I'm sure whoever made it had good intentions.
