Etto's Coffee & Gelato in Carmarthenshire

In search for a latte with nicely textured microfoam and a rosetta pattern like in their photos. Clearly not happening in practice. Espresso was under-extracted, but too badly. Drip coffee and sandwiches are good. Nor was I asked for here or takeout.

Our waiter Rito was amazing. Food was great and definitely above our standard of expectation.

Hype'd coffee shop. Service was excellent and vibe is nice but that's about it. Gnats everywhere in the display case with the pastries. Waffle was dry and lackluster. Croissant waffle had some nice cream but that's the highlight.

Sanaa treats customers like criminals and is incapable of having civil conversations. She kicked out a guest after he informed her that he would off course be patronizing the business (as he has done before). She completely escalated a matter that had absolutely no need to be escalated. As a downtown resident, I’m disappointed in her service and can’t recommend this shop as a result. We come for coffee and a place to study not for micro aggressors and a place to leave agitated.

Sadly, I will not be returning here. I visit this location on a bi-monthly basis and always buy matcha and/or waffles when I work into the night. This evening, after about 40 minutes, I grabbed a napkin which caused the barista named Sanam glare me down, approach me, and say I needed to leave if I did not intend on purchasing anything. I informed her that I usually buy a drink a little into my stay, but I would of course buy something to patronize the business. Oddly, Sanam responded by saying “This is not about [skin] color” and proceeded to call security in light of our civil conversation and the fact that I stated that I would purchase something (mind you, I stated I would purchase something immediately, not later). I immediately packed my things and on the way out I spoke to another coworker to voice I was upset at the random escalation. This coworker was understanding, but Sanaa repeatedly interjected as I explained what was happening. Funny enough (not really), Sanam revealed that she had actually misinterpreted me previously and this prompted her to make that bizarre comment about me being a minority and deciding to have me thrown out. Despite her distasteful actions she did not offer an apology and instead dug her heels deeper. With the way things are becoming even more dangerous for minorities, I cannot comfortably revisit a place that allows people like Sanam to work.

Otto’s Coffee is based inside the historic Adolphus hotel. We got a flavored matcha and vanilla latte. My vanilla latte was well made. The flavor profile of the matcha we ordered wasn’t our favorite but I feel like it would have been better had we not gotten it flavored. To me, the main reason to come to this coffee shop is more so to see the beautiful Adolphus Hotel rather than the coffee itself. If I’m in the area, I would come back, but wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.

I cannot say enough good things about this place! The coffee, specifically my cappuccino is always perfect. No matter who the barista is. Phillip is always on top of his game, Sam and her red hair always makes me smile, Edgar makes the best cappuccinos, Ali, Sanam, & Natalie are the kicka$$ night crew who keep me caffeinated & working till 10pm!

The barista there who is much older she has a full head of gray hair and is tan in skin color. I stop here pretty frequently and every single time I walk in I really do hate to catch her on her shift. Every single time I have an encounter with her she has a nasty attitude. Do better

Waited a very long time for a very average coffee and waffle. It's a self-service place but they still expect you to tip like you're getting table service (why?). They didn't even ask me what kind of milk I want when taking my order (rookie mistake). They serve you your coffee in disposable cups, even if you're sitting in. The staff touch the cups on the rim (yuck), so the only hygienic way to drink your coffee is through the plastic lid (double yuck). I think it's just popular because of the building, which is beautiful.

After hearing buzz about Otto's Coffee from several friends, I finally stopped in this morning to try their signature latte. Located on a quiet corner with large windows that flood the space with natural light, Otto's immediately impressed with its minimalist yet welcoming aesthetic. The barista greeted me warmly despite the morning rush and took time to explain their house-roasted beans when I asked about their espresso. My latte arrived promptly with an impressively intricate leaf design in the foam—a small touch that showed their attention to detail. The latte itself was exceptional—perfectly balanced with a rich, nutty espresso base that didn't overwhelm the silky steamed milk. Unlike many coffee shops that serve scalding drinks, Otto's latte was served at an ideal temperature for immediate enjoyment. The shop's playlist featured indie acoustic tracks at just the right volume for conversation, and the mix of communal tables and cozy corners offered flexible seating for both solo workers and small groups.

Coffees are curated so nicely and not overbearing! Loved how they offer milk substitutes , array of snacks and breakfast items. I got the white chocolate raspberry latte and over wedged my expectations. Will be back!

Nice stop to have your evening coffee and cozy place to have your office hours! Kerlly and Stephany attentive behaviour also made the experience of our afternoon at Otto’s much better. Except the cold wind that you might experience in the hallway, we had great time hanging out plus the free chocolate croissant 🥐 😇

We are visiting from St.Louis again this year and because of the fun and friendly service couldn’t wait to come back. Blu provides the best service. She is so friendly and one of the reasons we came back.

My husband and I were in the neighborhood and decided to try their coffee for the first time. You would expect great service and flavor since the shop is part of the Adolphus, but our experience was quite the contrary. We ordered an iced matcha, an almond milk latte and a pain du chocolat. The latte had a strong burned coffee flavor that was very unpleasant. We had one sip of it, and that was enough. I went to the bar and mentioned this to the barista and asked if they could change it for something else. She said that she made it herself and that she made what we asked for, but that she was going to make another one. Thinking about it, I believe that she had no intention or willingness to change the drink, and that she felt offended for my request, because her attitude was very on the defensive. We stayed for an hour and before leaving we where willing to buy an origami coffee dripper that was displayed, but we saw they had one in a box, we were opening the box to look at the color and she approached us in a very unpleasant manner saying that we weren't supposed to "mix them". We asked for the box of the ones that were out for display, and she just said "no box". At this point, we had her almost taking things out of my husband's hands. In conclusion, a very nasty attitude from her.

Right in the heart of downtown across the the AT&T district. Otto’s is perfect for business meetings and recharging your batteries. Shatara was an incredible barista. Some of the best coffee I’ve had! Customer service bar none.

$15 (not including tip) for a small hot caramel macchiato & a chocolate croissant. The croissant was okay but wasnt warm all the way through which is a shame. The coffee was also just decent. Nothing special. There was something kinda off about the taste that i couldnt quite place. The staff was friendly & i liked the atmosphere. But i had only stopped to get my food to go. I can see how it would be a nice place to sit, relax, study but the food just didnt feel worth the price. Especially when you can get a grande hot caramel macchiato & warm chocolate croissant from starbucks for like $10. I wouldnt say to not go here but my experience was just mid. Not horrible but i dont see myself coming back.

I love getting my coffee from here because I feel the baristas get to know me and not just my order. I’ve come to know two of them, Ally and Levent! If you’re being helped by them just know you’re in good hands. They are absolutely phenomenal.

We stayed in the hotel and I was excited to try to coffee at Otto’s. The decor and atmosphere was nice. I ordered a sugar cookie latte and my husband ordered a salted caramel latte. I took a sip of mine and it barely had a cookie flavor taste, it tastes like regular coffee and it was bitter. I then tried a sip of my husbands…and it tasted exactly the same. I couldn’t even tell the difference what was a sugar cookie and what was the salted caramel. For the price of this coffee I’m not too thrilled. Can get better flavored coffee at Starbucks at that point.

Amazing experience at Otto’s! The atmosphere and aesthetic of the place was very unique and renaissance like. I had a Cortado and it was good but not the best. However the shop alone I believe is worth the 5 stars.

I went there around 12:45, and there were quite a few customers, so I waited for about 6 mins. 9 counter seats and table for 5 people? There was one. It was lively and good. The rotation was good. Purchase a meal ticket on the left as soon as you enter. Only small change and 100 dollar bills can be used. Please note that 1,000 dollars and 10,000 bills cannot be used. I guess I didn't have enough coffee. Espresso was also okay.

Truly, the baristas here are so attentive, paying attention to the smallest details of their craft. Chattara, in particular, made me feel so special! They aim to ensure that you are well-served and happy. The coffee they serve is of exceptional quality, with a smooth texture and a strong flavor. The space is inviting, with many different styles of seating to choose from. It's a great way to start your morning, especially if you're staying the night at the Adolphus!

Nice environment for chitchat. We tried several types of coffees, and pastries. Among them white mocha is really good. Hot chocolate is average and little light.We didn’t like the London fog one.

The coffee was decent but the service was horrible. I ordered two drinks but apparently the baristas forgot about them, people who ordered after me got their drinks faster than I did. When I went to ask the barista about it, she was giving me an attitude as if I shouldn’t ask her about it. Both of the baristas saw me looking for my drinks but just ignored me completely. I waited there for almost 20 minutes and there were only two people who ordered before me. The experience was terrible.

Finally made it to this coffee place. I loved the fact that when I ordered the taco they asked me if I wanted the vegetarian option. I did have to ask to get served to eat here, and not to have it packed to go. It would be nice to get asked that question before ordering. But that’s ok, that didn’t bother me as much. I understand dogs are welcomed and it is so nice they have treats for them, but what bugged me is that the same person who is serving my food is the one giving the treats to the dog and then coming back serving food WITHOUT washing her hands. As a suggestion, wash your hands every time you’re coming back to touching people’s food.

This was the first luxury high tea place I have been too and the atmosphere was beautiful but what made the experience was the amazing customer service we had. It felt like a very personal experience . We had Connie our server and she was the sweetest.

I had an excellent experience at the café, thanks to Gabby and Shatara's outstanding assistance. Gabby recommended the popular pistachio latte, which turned out to be a refreshing choice on a hot, humid day. While the pistachio flavor was somewhat subtle, I still enjoyed the drink and would definitely order it again, perhaps with extra pistachio extract. I appreciate the effort to capture the natural pistachio flavor, which I know can be quite challenging. Overall, a delightful visit that I highly recommend!

We were in Dallas for the Ellipse and Otto’s was nearby. Our take was that if you were there for a beverage and a pastry, it was pretty good. For a full, sir-down breakfast you might consider some place else.

I got one of the best mocha lattes ever from here. Usually I find most mochas way too sweet without some modification, but this came out great as is. The baristas were also super friendly and the sitting area inside looked beautiful!

The high tea at the French room is always such a treat but everyone here made it that much more special! Be on the look out for Alfonso and Jesus they were AMAZING! Really made it a perfect afternoon celebration! Highly recommend for anyone wanting to celebrate in style and feel right at home with such amazing people!

This coffee shop is beautiful and it is in prime location. No matter how nice the coffee shop is the most important thing is the coffee. The coffee at Otto's is so bad that me and my wife didn't even drink a 1/4 of it. It tastes like cheap coffee that you would get from a local grocery store. I think the owner's need to go back to the drawing board on the coffee they use. I ordered a latte and my wife order a cappuccino. I won't be going back to this place.

Such a nice experience every time I go in. The guy there was really super kind to me. I showed up a little before they opened and he popped out and handed me my regular order before the lights were even on. The store is clean. The food is fresh and good. The drinks are consistent and top notch. The employees are kind and happy. This is what a café should be.

Tell them you’re going to Otto’s.

Had an awesome experience at Ottos! Mikael, Edgar, Patrick & Nicole was very well versed in the coffee science and very hospitable. They have a gift in not only their service of the hotel guests but also inquiring coffee minds searching for the perfect flat white. I will be back

We had a short trip to Dallas and this was the closest coffee shop to our hotel. It is inside the Adolphus Hotel. We went there 2 mornings and I have never seen so grumpy staff in my whole life, at both days. I am talking about whoever was at the register, for 2 different days. I said "Good morning", no response, I said "Thank you", no response, I said "Bye" and no response. They just looked to my face. They never smile and, never greet you as well. I am sorry that I ordered something, that's what it felt like eating there. Coming from a hospitality and hotel management background, I never form an opinion at one visit. But if this is happening twice, then it is not a coincidence or a person's bad day. Two different staff members on two different days means there is a very low standard and no understanding of hospitality whatsoever. I do not recommend this place, go spend somewhere who appreciates your business. (Ps: I had no interaction with the Barista, so this review is not about her)

Really bad service. We ordered waffles, breakfast tacos, and drinks. A few minutes later they told us that they are out of waffles and our tacos never arrived. The tea was also made (or left on the counter without notice to become) so dark that I had to ask for it to be remade. And by the way, this is after we left a big tip. Imagine what service you will get otherwise. :)

Walked here from another hotel cause of the reviews. This is just a subpar hotel coffee bar. The breakfast taco was…not good, I couldn’t finish it. The half waffle was definitely something my high school cafeteria served, very soft and limp. Served with Mrs. Butterworths fake syrup. Coffee was very average. This is definitely not the same place I read about in the reviews. Must be under new management or something. The menu on the website is not what they serve. Barista was very polite and hard working.

Had high hopes and walked from the Hyatt regency for a flat white. Quick to order but long wait. Received coffee with hot milk only. No foam or froth. Cashier agreed and said we’ll make a proper one. Returned it, Another 10 mins and he now he forgot to reorder. Almost half an hour and I now had run out of time, had to leave empty handed. Total waste of time from an unfortunate incompetent staff.

Awesome place to shop and eat. Gourmet everything. Take and go made meals top tier experience for sure.

First, I like the deco, it is classy and gives a warm vibe. Secondly, the service can be a bit slow during peak morning, as they only have 2, sometimes 3 staff working behind the counter to prepare the coffee, food and concurrently taking orders. Thirdly, there are some staple breakfast food options and a few pastries on view from the glass counter. Last but not least, I feel it is not light on the wallet. Will I come here again, yes, I did it twice.

I won’t recommend this place. It changed management and coffee roaster since I last came, and the quality is night and day different. Coffee was not good. I shouldn’t have to wait for espresso to cool down to drink it. And watching the baristas work, they are clearly not trained well. I could hear the milk screaming for air drink after drink. Also, with so many great local roaster options in Dallas, you can easily do much better than Full City Rooster. Also, they no longer offer a full food menu, but still advertise the original menu on the website—not to mention in the name. Pastries were decent, but not great. And disappointing after expecting more substantial breakfast options. Great atmosphere and vibe. Lot of potential.

If I'm paying $6 for a takeaway croissant, plus tip for counter service, at a supposed upscale hotel coffee bar, I expect courteous, pleasant service. The woman(white, brunette) at the counter on the morning of May 11 was none of those things. Don't toss around my Almond Croissant. Don't manhandle it so the fillings pour out on to your counter. Don't have a snarky, nasty attitude. Adolphus management needs to work on their staff recruitment and training strategies. Paying customers have too many options around to have to put up with bad service and bad product.

Otto's has amazing pastries and the staff is very friendly. If they have it, I highly recommend the crostata.

Excellent coffee. Espresso was perfectly extracted. Beans had a sweetness and brightness that I haven't found in shots from other nearby downtown coffee shops. Expensive, but wonderful.

Wonderful vibe and ambiance here comes with delicious coffee and friendly staff. Really enjoy visiting here whenever I'm walking around downtown Dallas. Fair amount of seating and outlet for charging or working off a laptop. Had the cold brew with almond milk which was delicious!

One of the few places open for breakfast in downtown Dallas. It's a coffee bar with a few breakfast items. Crowded and noisy when we were there, but did the job.

Outstanding service and the place is gorgeous!! The blackberry pastry was INSANE 😋 highly recommend.
