Etna Pizza Pasta in Lancaster

With a big party of 15, the staff were fantastic with everything. Mimmo went out of his way to ensure it was a fun & memorable evening. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and how traditional the small restaurant is, very reasonably priced.I’d definitely recommend Etnas for an enjoyable evening, thankyou!

It was a mixed bag. The staff started off very well, attentive and very helpful, but as the restaurant filled up it became clear it was slightly overwhelming for them all. The starters were brought out fine, but we waited a long time for our main courses that were ordered at the same time as the starters. The starters were great, but the main courses were very hit and miss. Half the group said their mains were delicious and half said they were bland and dry. I couldn't quite put my finger on what was wrong with my pasta. The pasta was quite bland, and I think that was because the sauce that was with it didn't have enough body to coat the pasta enough. It was quite watery and lacked depth that you would expect from a real Italian tomato sauce. It would appear that it was the pasta that was the duds as the other people also complained about the pasta The pizzas were quite good apparently. We have been before and it was excellent, I'm not sure what was wrong but it was so disappointing. It's a small establishment and it was sweltering inside and the tables were very close together which made it very noisy as people were competing against each other. Ultimately it was a disappointment.

Along with my wife, our two granddaughters and two of their friends, we had lunch at this great wee restaurant. That was four from Scotland, one from Northern Ireland and one from USA. We had a fabulous lunch. Marvellous, authentic, beautifully cooked, genuine Italian food. The owner makes it a memorable experience and, such is the atmosphere there are moments you could be in Italy. We were visiting Lancaster for the day and lunch at this restaurant made it a day to remember. Thanks so much.

Love this place. Real food and genuine hospitality. They have been here for years, are always happy to see you. The food is always fresh and cooked well accompanied by a decent wine list and knowledgeable staff. I applaud the owner for having a small restaurant stand the test of time.

A fantastic evening at Etna’s Restaurant for friends 30th Birthday. We were greeted like royalty and the staff were absolutely excellent! Food as always was superb, predictably I had the stuffed sardines and then the spare ribs. We have been eating here for over 35 years and the menu is great and the standard of the food is consistent quality ! All served with a smile it’s a highly recommended restaurant!

This place has been here years and there is a reason . They run this place properly !!! The food is great , the ambience and decor great and the staff just give that extra oomph. Came here for my sons 6th birthday as he loves pasta . The owner is superb made him laugh giggle , pulled lollys out of ears . We really want to say thankyou food was fab . We will be back.

We had a meal here last Sunday. It’s a family restaurant that has been there a long time. Although It was fairly quiet, (it was Sunday in February,) we still had a fantastic meal. Lovely food and wine and would 100% recommend.

I never usually do reviews but after our visit this evening it definitely deserved one. I attended with my family including my 1 year old son. The owner was amazing with my son and made us feel so welcome which you don’t usually get in many places! We were just going to give him some of our meal but the owner took his dish away and brought him back some pasta and bolognese. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Our meals were all delicious and it was a lovely little quiet restaurant the waiter was very attentive we would definitely recommend it and would visit again. Thankyou x

We found Etna by accident, whilst looking for somewhere to eat on the way to the theatre. Even though it was in between Christmas and New Year, damp and miserable, the place was packed by 5.30 pm. I haven’t been in a traditional Italian like this for years, simple unpretentiousness menu, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The food was lovely - spaghetti marinara, pizza and bolognaise, with portions just right and not expensive either. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back when in Lancaster.

Called in for lunch and had a Pizza Pescatore which was excellent. I always like coming here for lunch when I visit Lancaster. The prices are reasonable and the service is excellent

The food was once again excellent and the service was top notch, unfortunately for us there was a party of 9 who were rude to the waiter (a smart young man, polite and attentive) One of the party was swearing and being obnoxious towards the staff and was soon put in his place by the owner (the waiter was his son). Professionally handled by Mimmo….don’t mess with the family 😎👍

Just gets better and better each time we visit. Saturday evening, around 6pm and the restaurant was busy. We’d no reservation but we were managed to be placed for a table immediately. Food again was truly exceptional and the service friendly and exemplary. Our favourite restaurant in the area bar none.

Five x last minute date night due to getting married on Easter Saturday though we have a nice meal . Didn't book . We were celebrating my parents 50th wedding anniversary and we chose Etna. From the start, I feel we were taken advantage of with my father being elderly, he asked for the recommendation from the owner. Of course they offered up the fillet which by chance was the most expensive. I chose the monkfish and when it arrived over 30 minutes later, the fish was translucent, like it was defrosted. It was chewy and tasteless. We did get that meal taken off the bill and was offered a complimentary drink but just didn’t like the vibe and wanted to leave. Unfortunately, we all left with my parents 50th wedding anniversary ruined because of the experience. We will not be returning, which is disappointing for a place that has been there for so long.

Fab food, great atmosphere and attentive staff. Cannot fault the Etna restaurant for an authentic Italian night out. We were a table of 7 and we had a mixture of starters and main courses. All food arrived promptly and they were all delicious .

We've done half a dozen restaurants since lock down lifted and this was by far the best. Quite busy for a Wednesday but fitted us in after a short wait in the pub. Great, friendly service by the owner. Excellent food, we had soup, veal milanese and home made tiramisu. Delicious. With a bottle of wine and Irish coffees. £70. Perfect.

We called in at Wetherspoons for a quick drink before dinner and were amazed at the full school dining room scene of Valentine diners in tighly spaced tables waiting their £20 offer for two people!!If my partner had treated me to this fayre,questions would need to be asked about the relationship so far!!Wow,what a difference when we stepped into Etna in New Street.Its Italian to the core and you can taste and smell the Sicilian atmosphere and flavours.You are warmly greeted by Mimmo and Dominic who have more restaurant experience in Lancaster than the rest put together.We hadn`t booked but were found a great table near the bar.I chose the Veal Milanese which was historic and `er indoors had a delicious tasy pasta dish.Homemade Tiramasu followed which is to die for!!A Vechia made our evening complete at Etna.Happy,smiling faces tell a story here.A Valentines evening to remember and a few brownie points in the bag!!

No elbow room, very cramped as if fitting as many people in as possible and therefore very noisy. Not an exciting menu with less than average portions.

It was my first visit to this restaurant. The decor was a bit like walking back into the 80s and 90s which I quite enjoyed. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We ordered some garlic bread to start which turned up burnt and crispy. The mains were a mixed bag. Some were good some were bad. I had a chicken cordon bleu which was dry and was burn on top. I had to wait quite a while for my potatoes and veg so I had a bit of someone elses while I waited. All the sides they served had obviously been under a grill which had burnt bits and dried the rest out. I wouldn't expect any self-respecting chef to let anything like that out of the kitchen. All in all, it was nothing to write home about and I wont be in a hurry to go back.

We have eaten here many times over the years. Decided to take my daughter & boyfriend on Saturday night so rang at 7pm to see if a table was available for 9pm. I was told by a stroppy man that if there's a table we can have it, if not we can't. I said do you not take bookings and he just repeated the same phrase.

The reviews for this restaurant looked good, but all I can say is that our experience was far cry from this.

Myself and some friends went here for a meal. One of the group was late and the wait aggressively told us he can not wait any longer. I understand it is a busy time but it could have been said more politely. Furthermore when we were talking amongst ourselves how to split the bill as they don't accept cards (which we were not told) the same waitor came and exclaimed MY 6 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER COULD DO THIS MATHS FASTER SHALL I RING HER AND GET

This old Lancaster favourite has been here for nearly 50 years ! Proper welcoming service from the main man ! I love the carbonara !
