We had been for a walk around the lake and rather than go straight home , decided to nip in for a coffee. The outside space desperately needs cheering up. It needs jet washing as do the tables and chairs . The area is mottled with bird poo . The peace was disturbed by the waitress clattering around clearing chairs and tables as it wasn’t far off closing . Coffee tepid .

Breakfast and cakes were lovely served by the young man, however we had a little accident at our table which I offered to clear up if the waitress Jenny would kindly hand me a dustpan! No she was shaking her head and so ignorant and rude! Please teach her some customer service skills which she clearly lacks! Made my daughter feel awful for spilling her seeds 🙄all disabilities are not visible!

Nice cafe with outdoor seating, great food using quality local produce . The cafe also participates in a scheme to help disabled youngsters so as well as getting some lovely food you’ll bel supporting a good cause too.

Lacking the charisma it used to have maybe, but providing take away coffees and food during lockdown, this is a good place to go to.

The cafe was reasonably busy on a bank holiday. The queue moved fairly quickly. I had a lovely root vegetable soup and bread roll. My son loved his cheesey chips and milk. My wife enjoyed her coffee and chocolate cake. Overall a good experience with pleasant service.

Not been for a while because of Covid etc. but it would appear that management have seen sense and scrapped the fancy up market menu and have gone back to sensible food for walkers etc. all at sensible prices. Their take away / collect menu at the moment is just great. I hope they have the good sense to leave it that way when restrictions are over and we are back to normal

This cafe at the moment is doing take out only with no seating outside. They do a range of light meals, snacks and cakes and even ice cream for dogs. I had a lovely hot chocolate with Marshmallows, my son had a tea and cheesy chips. Pleasant service. A decent cafe.

This is a great location for a quick bite or something a little more substantial. I had the full American breakfast and my wife had breakfast pancakes. It was all fresh and decently hot and very tasty. Throw in a nice pot of tea and a decent latte and it was still under £15. They also do sandwiches, soups, cakes etc and they all looked really good. It's small but really nice with friendly staff. Recommended!

This is the best place to really relax and enjoy the lovely scenery while you sit down on the benches & watch the ducks, geese & swans swimming in the lake or feeding from the seeds dropped by people. The walks around the lake is just wonderful & very scenic. You can walk right down to the waterfall & sit there or carry on up the hillside to venture further scenery. So peaceful too. Then, there is the cafe, so friendly and they serve you some really good food. You can sit on the veranda outside eating from tables there too. You get to see the sunshine, lovely views of the trees, birds & also model boats from the club further up the lake. Everyone enjoys it, from the youngest child to the elderly. A good place to meet new people too and get chatting which does happen a lot! A good place for people with pet dogs, they are well catered for too. With bowls of water to drink from. A really happy atmosphere & the staff helpful & cheerful. Some have special needs, but they are encouraged & help around the place. I have been going to this pleasant place for years now & will continue for as long as I'm able to! So friendly & relaxing. Cheers to the staff!!!

We stopped going to this cafe after many years of patronage when they decided to upmarket their menu. Now it would seem they have realised the folly of that and gone back to simple and affordable meals. Basics like toast, beans, eggs, fish-fingers, etc., have reappeared; much more suitable for a family on a budget visiting the lake and also the social services helpers/carers who used to go there. To prove a point, it was a nice day and the place was full and a queue for food as well. We just hope they don't get any more silly ideas about fancy food!

Absolute jobsworth wouldn’t serve us any food when we arrived at 8 minutes past 3pm with three children, because apparently hot food stops at 3pm. No signs to say this and wasn’t even willing to serve a salad or cold sandwich. Ridiculous when it was 8 minutes past and we would have spent a good £30. Awful attitude and poor customer service.

We've eaten here a few times this year and generally the food is fine, with the odd exception so probably dependent on the chef. Sandwiches fine and chips are generously portioned. Ice cream lovely and nice range of drinks Inc some alcoholic. Staff all friendly. Unfortunately last time we visited the sausages were cremated and my smashed avocado on toast was inedible because of how much lemon was mixed in - I couldn't ask for a replacement because the children were already fed up due to a long wait. I like that it is dog friendly and seating outside. Little shop attached sells cheap seed to feed the ducks.

Once again our Causeway Group of Adults with learning difficulties had a fabulous time at Etherow Park Cafe. Robert and his staff made us very welcome. They set out the room beautifully and provided good food/drink at a very reasonable cost. This is our second year booking the cafe for a private function and I’m sure we will be booking it again next year. Another plus for anyone thinking of hiring the room is that the cafe is now licensed to sell alcohol. I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone. Well done guys - it was spot on

Wonderful stop off after a nice walk round the lake, it has improved considerably recently, the food, and especially the cakes, really good, they have their disabled staff still working for them, which is great, and there's always a bowl of water for our furry friends, they would do well to sell a few doggy treats

Miserable rainy day but we wanted some air so decided to take our son to feed the ducks. We bought 4 bags of seed from she visitor's centre attached to the cafe. Whilst in there we looked at the menu and decided to stay for lunch. They do an American themed brunch, don't know if this is all the time. The cafe was relatively quiet. Service quick and it was clean. Big American breakfast was good and free range sausages tasty. We also had pancakes with Marple syrup and Bacon, tub of icecream, hot chocolate, coke and bowl of chips for about £18. We enjoyed the food. my son liked the fish tank in the visitors centre and there were lots of cheap toys for sale. Christmas time and they had elves inviting kids to decorate the Ginger bread men. We were pleasantly surprised and will return at another quiet time.

Often busy, better staffed than 12 months ago, but tooooo dear for snacks by far. Great coffee's, but do you really want to buy the kids a packet of 'two' biscuits at over a pound, or a tiny fancy 'bun' / cake at over £2. If your eating out, moderate value for money, if you want to snack, take your own provisions.

After a long walk and getting lost I needed coffee and a cake! My partner had a panini which was tasty but very overpriced! I had a scone with clotted cream and jam which to be fair was very tasty and reasonably priced for £2, they seemed understaffed and the young girl serving seemed to be getting a little flustered and it wasn’t that busy! The coffee was really poor cappuccino shouldn’t taste the same as a latte and should actually taste of coffee but unfortunately it didn’t and at just under £3 I could get a Costa! Overall it was ok

Etherow Park is a delightful place to have a short, leisurely stroll. The best bit has to be the cup of tea which awaits you in the café at the end of the walk. Fabulous! This is such a lovely little place, I would definitely recommend it.

Set in the scenic, Etherow Country Park, this is a great place to enjoy a snack or a meal while you rest your weary limbs after a healthy walk round the lake or though the woods. The food Is freshly cooked using produce from local suppliers and is always plentiful; wide range of options from toast to full breakfast. Lunchtime meals also available. On Saturdays and Sundays you can enjoy American Brunch, again ranging from full breakfast to scrambled eggs with avocado and pancakes etc.The staff are friendly and efficient and always helpful. If you are not in the mood for a large meal, fresh sandwiches and locally baked cakes are available, along with a wide range of coffees and teas. The café was recently refurbished, in Bistro style. Seating on the terrace, in fair weather, gives you a great view of the lake, where you will see a wide range of waterfowl and on some days model boats and the larger, full size sailing boats. Go along and enjoy a really good day out!.

Went for brunch while car was having a repair and like another reviewer has said we really wish we hadn't. My veggie breakfast had a cold vegetable finger instead of a sausage, a tiny scrambled egg, a small hash brown and some mushrooms with a raw tomato. I had to pay extra for the slice of toast so altogether it was over £10 for the worst veggie breakfast I've ever had. I was suspicious when I saw a bottle of Asda value brown sauce on the table. My wife had a falafell wrap which was dry and tastless, overcooked with chips which were ok. Cannot understand how this place gets good reviews and stays open. Will never go back.

Great range of local real ales, fine lagers and ciders.. Great for live music, supporting up and coming local bands, good for private functions.

Had the 'Two for £10' offer. Mojito and Dacquari served in plain tumblers, a straw, ice and no other decoration. Below average taste and took a while to arrive. Pornstar Martini wasn't part of the offer and was a very small glass and had to ask for shot of prosecco as the bartender said she forgot. It wasn't even that busy!

Beer tasted a bit off and the atmosphere was depressing which is a shame because on the outside it looks like a nice pub.
