My family and I visited today for an early evening dinner, we were impressed by the initial service provided by the member of staff who took us to our table, she was attentive and efficient, however I’m sad to say the person that took over from her, was more interested in chatting than caring for her customers, we had to ask for the table to be cleared and had to ask for desert menus and then go looking for her to place our desert order, all my family enjoyed the food but expected a much better service.

Extremely poor service food was poor totally unacceptable, and no apology from the staff until last minute also staff seemed to be angry with each other ,i am updating my review as after my partner phoned the pub due to my complaint the manager who requested to discuss my complaint said would comp the meal and give us a free return visit my partner is still waiting for a reply a week on and we've heard nothing back to arrange this!

We were passing by the garden centre and just entered to ask about reservations or a table. The guy at the front desk was very rude, he could’ve said “sorry we are fully booked” but instead he said “we are short on staff, I don’t care, and I won’t serve you”. Relax there are so many other places on earth.

Really disappointing. Been may times but as soon as I walked in, you could cut the atmosphere with a knife. Staff harassed, seemed annoyed with each other. The food was not good , a small selection of vegetables & none were green , the potatoes had seen better days & meat was dried up Just to let you know, this wasn't at the end of the day it was 2.30 . Oh & the price had gone up on a small plate by 50% .. This is so sad as our family have been frequenting this establishment for over 20 years .

We walked in to an arguement between the staff. Not a great first impression. We were told to go to the table and come to the bar when we wanted to order, we were told that they were out of a number of items. No beef on the carvery, no mixed grills or steaks. We decided on steak and ale pie but when we went to order that was also out of stock. I ordered leek and potato soup again that wasn't available. I ended up with the lasagne which wasn't the best the garlic bread was a cheap baguette, not very impressive. My son got a cowboy burger and the bun was badly burnt. The only meal that was ok was my husbands Hunter's Chicken. I get that they were understaffed but the atmosphere wasn't pleasant, no smiles off any of the staff we felt quite unwelcome. Sadly we won't be returning.

Such a shame to post this review but the food during today’s carvery was not as nice as it usually is. The gravy was so watered down it was like warm greasy water. The meat wasn’t that nice either. Everything lacked taste. We have visited a few times this year and it never disappoints even recommended the place to friends but today it was not that good.

We go here 2-3 times a year meeting family. Today was probably the last time we will ever go staff friendly and nice but the food was terrible cold mix grill with a burnt steak despite asking for medium, garden peas you could use to break glass, the sausages where completely tasteless. Another member of the family had steak it was also way over cooked. Where asked if we wanted garden or mushie peas we ended up with the opposite of what we chose. We asked for the burger to be plain it came with everything on it. The place has gone up and down over the years but I won’t be chancing it again I wouldn’t mind but the place was empty so the chef couldn’t have been too busy. Not a meal to enjoy after a 2hr journey anyway.

Came here after our Dad was admitted to the nearby hospital- was pleasantly surprised with the food options and price. We went for the roast dinner for £11- go for the small as they all end up being the same size anyway! Would recommend- friendly vibe and staff. Given very good slices of meat vs the likes of Toby Carvery.

Sticky tables, unorganised staff, mediocre food with small portions. When we arrived no staff members were around, then when they showed up told them we had a reservation and was told to go to a table which only had 4 seats (we had booked for 5) then was told to sit anywhere. Went to order at the til as weren't sure if it was table service or not. Then another staff member came to take our order even though we had already ordered. Starters were pitifully small and disappointing. Mains were just okay. Waited again for very long time for mains plate to be cleared so went to order desserts at till. Desserts were small and not as described in the menu. Didn't complain at the time but won't return.

I have been to the Cheshire Line on numerous occasions with no issues but last night was not good. We first asked for steak on steak night and was told no steak left!!! I asked then for hunters chicken I was then advised they had no cheese!! It was not a problem but when it arrived 45 mins later there was hardly any bbq sauce it was like eating dried chicken !!! I was very disappointed as I usually really enjoy the food. Won’t be going back for a while sorry. I miss the offer of 2 meals for £10.

Went for tea with an online voucher. Place was extremely quiet/empty. Only people in were group of infants with couple of girls. Ordered at bar. Waiting with my wife , assistant (whom we realised was coming up to home time ) came out, after ordering , and said there was no salad for the ordered lasagne, and can have garlic bread or chips. Chose garlic bread; wanted to check the menu but there were put in a draw somewhere! The lasagne arrived, brought out by the chef, with a sort of salad, that was hastily made up and supposedly was out of stock and NO garlic bread!! Could not find menu to check. Arriving home later, garlic bread SHOULD have been with the dish! Hunters chicken was also ordered; nice chicken but think the cheese was running out and hardly any BBQ sauce was on. NO one even came to ask is everything ok! We hate complaining, but really the cost of meals out now, please give the customer what IS expected; don’t short change people. We visited at 14:00 on a Sunday afternoon recently for a carvery and found place half empty and nobody queuing for the carvery which was surprising for a Sunday. We ordered a meat and a veggie carvery. Before we went up the large group on the table next too us were complaining with the Manager about the food quality and refusing to pay. We went up for our food. The carvery had a large beef joint, the tail end of a dried up turkey joint and a medium piece of gammon that looked very dried up. On eating we found the beef was so tough it would not cut with serrated knife and the turkey dry and crumbly. The roast potatoes were all totally white and undercooked, the other veg was similar and undercooked and tough. The gravy, in a small gravy boat, was so thick we could turn it upside down. We asked to complain to the Manager. Three other tables complained whilst we were there too. The Manager Stephen, removed our uncooked meals and agreed not to charge us for the mains. He asked if we wanted a dessert but said not to have the sticky toffee pudding as wasnt good and too powdery. He then failed to bring any dessert menus, later saying he forgot. Even though the food and service were awful he was adamant we had to pay £11 for two drinks and said to the others complaining and to us that we should put a bad review on to improve their service. A strange thing for a Manager to do rather than resolving it himself. All the food should have been removed and replaced but was left on the servery. Worst dining experience I can remember....avoid.

Have been going on and off here for 30 odd years, yesterday was a celebration lunch for my birthday. Was with a couple of friends who were equally as extremely disappointed as I was. The server was very good under difficult circumstances. Had been in April and was very satisfied but the menu had changed since then, not for the better. Two of us ordered the mixed grill only to be told that there were no mushrooms or onion rings-what!! A mixed grill without them, stated on the menu. The chicken looked as though it had been steamed and not grilled, plus no chips, only French fries.Overall not a good experience and it will be a good while before we visit again- if ever, which is a great shame.

I got steak and guineas pie I assumed that I would be getting mashed potatoes instead I got fries to be fair they were going to change the fries to mashed potatoes but I did not want to wait anymore but the one thing that really upset me was my drinks when I arrived my daughter got me a bottle of burgers cider which was ok but before we left I paid over £36 for several drinks which seemed a bit much but the one thing that absolutely disgusted me was when I was drinking the 2nd bottle was the lack of taste I am absolutely sure that the bottle of cider that I was drinking had been opened before either because of a customer or staff mistake and the top had been put back on and this was the reason for how flat this bottled drink was would I go back yes probably but certainly not for overpriced flat drinks

My husband and I, both pensioners, have been going to Cheshire Line for over a year now. We particularly liked the 2 for £20 section of the menu as this meant we could enjoy a meal out without breaking the bank. My husband has a quite restricted diet due to a medical condition and finds it difficult to eat out as most places have set meals that cannot be altered. At Cheshire Line he was able to change things on his menu choice without any problems. We found the staff most accommodating and the food was always fresh and delicious. We decided to eat out on Monday 3rd June and headed off to the Cheshire Line. We noticed a couple of changes as we went in but didn't think too much about it. The manager brought the menus for us to choose our meals and told us that there had been some changes. The 2 for £20 is no longer available and the cheese and onion pie, my husbands favourite, has been removed from the menu. We asked if the chicken tikka masala had been changed and he told us it was not freshly cooked since the brewery had changed the menu. Unfortunately this means my husband cannot eat anything on the new menu so we had to leave and find somewhere else to eat. If the new menu stays we will not be returning which saddens us as we have enjoyed many meals here in the past. I'm sure there will be other people who will stop going, particularly the lunchtime diners now the 2 for £20 has stopped. Unfortunately the website still shows the old menu so anyone checking that before going will certainly be surprised at the changes. I hope that the brewery has a change of mind and reverts back to freshly cooked food and lunchtime discounts. If they do we would definitely go back as we always enjoyed our lunchtime treats there.

Once again we had to gey someones attention to order drinks ,my wine was warm not chilled. Ordered our meal 2 carverys, sat there once again waited !!!!!. My husband had to go and ask a girl on the bar 15 minutes after, do we just go for carvery or do we need a ticket? She gave us 2 tickets, meat was ok ,however veg was very poor. The food here is excellent. My only complaint would be staff turning people away by telling them there is a 45 minute wait for food. I told them I would wait. If this was my establishment, I would be fuming! So many families left and were not encouraged to stay, the money they are losing for this business. The owner needs to get better management or their business will go down the pan. Rule no.1 in any business is never turn paying customers away. Find a way to over come the short comings. The place was practically empty so sad to see.

I rolled-up at the Cheshire Line Tavern to take part in a pre-booked railway club luncheon and, having familiarised myself with the menu, I was really looking forward to a helping of liver & bacon with mashed potatoes, washed down with a few pints of ale. I had travelled there by bus so that I could partake of the ale. But when I went to the bar to order my first pint I was informed that they had NO ALE! Now, as far as I'm concerned the one thing that a public house can never have an excuse for is running out of ale; making sure that beer is available should be the number one priority above all else. On a matter of principle, I will never patronise a public house that has no real ale available, and so I walked out and caught a bus straight back home. Very disappointed.

We celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary here and not one person had anything to say about their visit. There was a mixed age of people and everything was superb. We had a lovely table, which had even been decorated as a surprise by the team, which was a really thoughtful touch. We were allowed as much time as we needed for the usual family nattering before we ordered. Once we had ordered, we didn't seem to wait anytime at all before the food was served. Mine was the last meal to be served and it was hot, hot, hot - which isn't easy when you are serving up mash! Everybody had an awesome time, even the boss took some family pictures for us. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of not getting his name, but trust me, he was perfection personified. Nothing was too much trouble. They made our anniversary a lovely, special event. I can't thank them enough. I recommend this establishment and their food to everyone who may be thinking of where to go. I can honestly say, through experience, whether you are a couple or a large party, you are treated exactly the same, with the same beautiful food.

As always great service and lovely food. Jake was very helpful. Plentiful portions. I had buttermilk chicken burger with chips and apple and cider pie with custard for dessert. Delicious!

Visited on Friday evening with our family. Food was fine and reasonably priced. The restaurant was busy but staff coped well. We decided to stay for the Bonkers Bingo run by the two Johns which was a laugh and we won a prize so happy days!

Beautiful building really lovely but when opened the door and walked in, I’m glad they didnt have what we needed anyway. Wasn’t greeted with a smile. More like we walked into their living room and looked at like … yeah ? So i was glad they didnt have what we needed i was very happy to walk right back out and find somewhere just round the corner where your greeted equally.

The Thursday night quiz is very enjoyable, with a great welcoming atmosphere and tremendous prizes. The best quiz in Cheadle!

We come here weekly to eat before for the splendid Thursday night quiz. All the staff are friendly and welcoming and we feel like members of an extended friendship group rather than clients. The food is usually plentiful and well prepared and there's a good choice at reasonable prices. Would recommend the pub for a drink, and for the food (you'll never eat everything on the Sunday carvery plate!) It's a proper pen and paper quiz with cash and voucher prizes and a lot of fun!

A great pub with friendly, welcoming staff and good food. We particularly enjoy the smothered chicken and Tuscan salmon. We have been coming here regularly since we discovered the Thursday night quiz last autumn. Great fun!

Great Pub that deserves more recognition. Both the food and service are excellent. The staff are especially helpful especially Eleanor and manager Ste. Would recommend for food, carvery and a belting pint of Guinness

Fab meal. We didn't book but we're dealt with well by front of house. Didn't have alcohol and respected by staff. Rib eye was the best I've had in a long time. Cooked as requested. Thank you. Carvery was fresh and ample portion of meat with fresh sides. Great value for money.

Steven is an amazing service staff, and so patient with my 4 year old son who also says that Cheshire Line is his favourite pub! It is an amazing pub for families with young children.

Tucked away venue next to a garden centre, rather an odd pairing. We went fairly early on a Saturday evening and the place was pretty empty, which limited the atmosphere, given it's such a large building. It did mean that we were served quickly and the drinks seemed well kept. I would visit again to see if it was maybe better when somewhat busier.

Absolutely appalling customer service. Not friendly or professional was approached with aggressive behaviour and was told to sit in a certain place because of reservations however was not asked if we had reserved. The staff member was in his mid 30 black hair and black t-shirt. I'm disappointed with the blatant racism and i will never return.

Great to return to an old haunt after so many years. Tastefully altered and decorated, fantastic ales, great staff. Hats off Hydes. This visit was with the inclusion of lunch. The brunch was very satisfying along with the chicken burger.

The place is incredibly friendly and cosy, perfect for a relaxed evening. We did have a small issue with one of the beers (it was the end of the barrel—happens everywhere), but the staff were super supportive and quickly offered us a different beer without any fuss. Their service really made our night, and we'll definitely be back!

Amazing ordered a sausage bap, Victoria sponge cake which is so nice and refreshing and the chocolate fudge brownie frappe was to die for. I’ll definitely be ordering again
