Essential Vegan Cafe in Hackney

The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. The atmosphere in the place is very laid-back.

La energía es muy relajada, el mural de pasteles se suma al ambiente relajado y soñador. Quizás no reluciente, pero el personal parece contento, amable y capaz. Dicho esto, el servidor acaba de comenzar su comida de turno cuando entramos y parecía más interesado en eso que en sacar nuestras bebidas y comida, pero finalmente llegó. La estrella del espectáculo fue la hamburguesa de jackfruit: carnosa, picante y absolutamente memorable. Mi compañero tenía una hamburguesa básica que disfrutó, pero descubrí que tenía un regusto extraño que me desanimó. Pedimos las bolas de queso y las encontramos demasiado duras para ser realmente soñadoras. Mi compañero ha comido estas bolas en Brasil y estaba decepcionado porque no eran tan deliciosas. Disfrutamos mucho el postre de galletas de mantequilla de maní y chocolate caliente. Los baños, ubicados en un pasillo abarrotado y un poco polvorientos y espeluznantes, me recordaron el tipo de cosas que encontraríamos en una pequeña estación de servicio de la ciudad en lugar de un restaurante. Para nosotros, se sumó a la aventura y la experiencia, pero pude ver que más gente aprensiva se apagaba.

Fui a cenar con un amigo esta noche. En resumen, es caro para las pequeñas porciones que se ofrecen. 8/9 para una hamburguesa de tamaño estándar, no debería salir con hambre, especialmente porque tengo poco apetito, ¡pero lo hice! Desventajas: las hamburguesas Cluckin 'Good sinceramente no eran nada espectaculares, prefiero el Templo de Hackney, sus empanadas seitan son mucho más sabrosas y llenas. Estas hamburguesas eran bastante sosas con salsa de tomate y mayonesa para dar sabor. Chips de yuca: tenemos 5 en un tazón por 3. 50? ! Pastel de nueces y café - tenía un sabor extraño después. Pros: el café está ubicado en una calle tranquila y agradable en Shoreditch, el interior también es encantador y la camarera que nos atendió fue muy servicial y agradable.

El café estaba tranquilo, en una buena ubicación, pero justo en una calle lateral con creo que hay otro café y tiendas que estaban cerradas a la hora (8:30 pm el sábado). Disfruté de la hamburguesa que pedí, que me recordó a las comidas tipo comida integral de los restaurantes vegetarianos / veganos del pasado, pero con un poco más de estilo. Creo que la ubicación tiene potencial, pero obviamente estar cerca de la calle principal requerirá más veganos para aventurarse allí. Espero que le vaya bien.

He estado aquí varias veces mientras trabajo cerca. la primera vez que vine, la comida era principalmente frita y cocida, estaba un poco molesta ya que los precios son bastante altos y esperaba más. Regresé hace unos días, esperando que mi experiencia fuera mejor, pero desafortunadamente no fue así. Pagué 14. 00 para un plato de arroz simple que no era nada especial. pero la parte que más me irritó fue el té helado de menta y limón que recomendaron, suena encantador, así que tuve un poco y fue simplemente agua infundida con un poco de limón y menta. . . lo siento, pero no puedes pasar esto como té helado y cargar 2 por una pequeña taza de PLÁSTICO. muy decepcionado, no volveré.

I was searching for vegan cafes in the area and this one was the first I saw. I'm really pleased I visited as the food was delicious (I recommend the Essential burger!) and the staff were friendly which is pretty rare these days. Absolutely lovely and I look forward to going back should I ever be in the area again.

I was so happy to find this café because I can have a delicious vegan version of all the dishes I crave but no longer eat that regularly unless I cooked them myself.

I went to Essential a couple of times and was never disappointed. The staff is very nice and friendly, the menu is great (the desserts are great, especially the cheesecakes) I absolutely recommend!

Chilled BYOB restaurant with delicious food - we had the 'cheese' balls and seitan wings, jackfruit burgers, and chocolate coconut cake, and all were fantastic. Great value for the area (especially given you can take your own booze). Loved it and will be back soon for sure!

Ordered a jackfruit burger called the jack. After waiting 15 mins It arrived FREEZING cold. I asked the lady if it was meant to be cold and she and she kindly replaced it. I asked for a refund as I had to run back to work but she insisted she made a fresh one. (Would have preferred a refund) Second one arrived and it was luke warm. (Maybe invest in a temperature probe) The kale in both also tasted as if it hadn’t been washed (gritty) I also honestly just didn’t like the taste and I’ve had jackfruit many times and it just wasn’t worth £8 (would have been if it was hot and tasty)

We visited of a lunch time and managed to get a table before the rush. We had the “chicken” burger, the soup of the day (sundried tomato and pea), and cheese balls. All of the portions were small but the burger was the smallest; I expected a few more layers, maybe chips, or at least a side salad for £8. I’m also pretty sure there was no almond cheese in the burger or if there was it was so small I missed it. There seemed to be no option of a dip to go with the cheese balls and there were no cakes on the counter had we wanted dessert (although we did visit a few days after the bank holiday so perhaps they didn’t have enough time to bake). Having said all that, the food we got was very nice and I support the idea so I don’t want to give too much negative feedback.

Me and my partner have tried to eat here a few times but it’s always been full. We booked in on a Tuesday evening and it was actually empty! Just a warning though it’s probably best to book. We both wanted to try Essential Vegan as it’s rare you’d find Brazilian inspired vegan food. The cafe has a nice atmosphere as I liked the open kitchen. The staff are really nice and know when to just let you get on with things without being pestered! I had the cheese balls and the daily special Feijoada which was a Brazilian black bean stew. Both of my dishes were really delicious but I felt the portion sizes were a little small given the price tag. I know Shoreditch is an expensive area but a little bit more food wouldn’t go amiss! However the small portions were a blessing in disguise as it allowed me to sample the passion fruit cheesecake which was really nice. Overall I really enjoyed my experience but wouldn’t recommend going if you were really hungry as you’d spend a fortune!

We visited after realising other restaurants had huge queues. We had to sit outside due to reservations but we moved inside once a table come free. We then ordered at the till after waiting 15 minutes with no one coming to us which we were told happened. However, the food was amazing and even though the portion sizes for the chips are small they are great.
