eS Bar, Keswick in Allerdale

We decided to visit for our wedding anniversary whilst staying in Keswick. I was so pleased to find it had a dog-friendly room - it was perfect! The service was great, loved the ticking system, although we did over order and maybe should have seen how we got on first and then ordered extra. I had a lovely tequila cocktail and my husband had a beer. The food was really good, we particularly enjoyed the quesadillas, meatballs and patatas bravas. It made a real change from the usual pub food, and was very dog friendly. We ate early as we could only get an early table and it was a Friday, so you definitely need to book.

On a friday this olace is rocking with all the best tunes. Didn’t try the food but the drinks were very tasty. Plenty of soace & the staff were friendly

Popped in without a reservation but managed to get a high stool table for 2. V busy so would recommend booking if you want a specific time/date. Ordered 2 tapas and nacho meal and taco-all fresh and tasty! Staff so lovely - relaxed and friendly. Great cocktail to start! I had pecan brownie which was ok (needed more ice cream) and my husband had Crema Catalana which could have done with being a bit more set but this wouldn’t put us off going again. Really enjoyed our meal and atmosphere, go-you’ll enjoy!

Went here for the first time on the recommendation of another Tripadvisor review and was very glad to have done so. The system is to tick the tapas that you want allowing for maybe 2-3 per person depending on how hungry you are. We went for 10 dishes for 3 hungry/tired people and it was plenty. Chorizo was really well cooked and tasty in a red wine sauce with a little chilli, patatas bravas were crispy and not too much tomato sauce (also good) - actually some of the best I've had anywhere to be honest. The crispy squid was excellent and highly peppered and other lovely dishes included the spare ribs (have these), the chimi chicken, and really good galicky gambas. Everything comes when it is cooked which is much better than waiting for specific things. It's a dig-in and share sort of a place and one of Keswick's best places to eat. Lovely atmosphere and excellent service (we went on a Sunday).

What a great evening we had at Bar ES on Wednesday night. We have been to the sister restaurant in Ambleside and we hoped this was as good. We weren't disappointed. Absolutely fabulous food and incredibly friendly and helpful staff - it really makes a difference to an evening, so thank you. As we came out of the restaurant we met an older couple looking at the menu and they asked us what we thought, we told them it was really fab and what we had eaten. I hope they booked. We will definitely be back to this restaurant.

This is going to be a long one! We’d booked online for a Sunday at 9 pm for 4 people. Decided on the Saturday that this would be too late for us, so we cancelled. Popped in at 4 on Saturday to ask if they could fit us in earlier on the Sunday. We were told no, but that the 3 tables in the front bar and the tables outside were kept for walk-ins. We arrived fairly early on the Sunday and asked for a table for 4. They said they were full! I pointed out to the Spanish lady that she’d said that they kept tables for walk-ins and asked if we could have the empty table in the front bar. She said yes but told us that the kitchen closed at 9 pm and that we’d need to wait at least 45 mins for our food. How can the kitchen close at 9 when we originally had a booking for 9? We said that this would be ok as we’d have some drinks and would happily wait. This was at around 7.30. We ordered wine and beers and ordered our food promptly as we thought we’d have a long wait. The food came out less than 45 mins later - around 8.15 pm. By this time the restaurant was almost but not completely empty. The next thing that happened really shocked us! The 3 waiting on staff appeared on the next table and proceeded to open and eat their Chinese takeaway. This was completely unprofessional behaviour. They could have quite easily taken it to the back room or outside. But instead they ate it in full view of paying guests. On a positive note, the tapas we had was of a good standard and tasty. This place could be so much better. We felt that the staff didn’t want customers! We felt we were a complete inconvenience and that all they wanted to do was close up and go home! Can’t imagine how this place is surviving when the business is being run like this!

Fabulous food and atmosphere - despite booking there was a little wait as tables didn't seem prepared (not being used just not prepared), I'm not sure why as the table set up is simple (but lovely). Drinks very slow to come out as food was served first even though there was a wait for the food But 100% will be going again as minor things which could easily just be a slight blip on that particular evening

We have been here many times when visiting Keswick but never got round to reviewing. Been with my husband in the past but was with my mum this time. Absolutely favourite restaurant in Keswick hands down! The food is just fantastic and reasonably priced. We usually get 5 dishes between two but we always have to leave a bit!! The staff are lovely. They are friendly and helpful. I also love the fact that that they sell desperados my favourite drink and it seems to be the only bar in Keswick that sells it!! If you decided to visit you will not be disappointed but book in advance

After the booking was made I got dog. I tried to ring to see if they could accept dogs but they only take emails and promise to reply within 24 hours aaagh (the meal was that night). However, within minutes they replied saying they do but the room was full but I could eat in the outside dining area. (My own fault for checking so late!) however 2, they emailed again saying they had found room in the dog friendly room. Fantastic staff!! Fantastic customer service! (obviously fantastic food - as always). They did not stop there. Part way through the meal, Ammie got a bit fractious with 3 other dogs. The staff took her outside for a few minutes until she calmed down. Amazing food Amazing service Staff are dog lovers Prompt replies to emails.

Really good tapas. They make a good fist of mexican food. Too often places serve bland versions but this place is the real deal. No wonder it is so popular. Good selection of beers and tequilas (if you're feeling brave and aren't doing any tricky walks the next day!). We actually went here twice in a week as we loved it so much. Best dishes: nachos, ribs, calamari , patatas bravas. Staff always efficient and smiley, even when under pressure. I would say that the kitchen struggles when the restaurant fills up and some dishes take a while but you know it's being freshly cooked and can forgive them taking a few extra minutes as its always worth the wait.

Really nice and friendly staff. Very accommodating to my weird and wonderful food allergies and intolerances. We made a mistake but ticking a different item and although it was our fault, they didn’t charge us for it. Great for couples, friends and large groups and best of all dogs!!! But it is Keswick so of course dogs are welcomed. Great food and helpful staff 👍

I don’t usually leave a review, however we were so impressed with this restaurant. We came on a busy Saturday evening, so the atmosphere was great. The mezcal margarita was incredible - I had 3. There was plenty of choice on the menu without being too overwhelming and fairly priced. The staff were hands down some of the most attentive and friendly we have encountered in a long time. Overall we had a fantastic evening and would highly recommended to couples and families and solo travelers alike.

Having spent over 36 years visiting Keswick this was our first visit to eS Bar and I don't know why we've delayed so long! It was a fantastic experience and the tapas was delicious. Staff were so welcoming and accommodating to us and our two children, offering up some alternatives for our two year old to eat. We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will most definitely be visiting again!
