We recently visited this restaurant and it was an absolute disappointment. The staff was extremely unfriendly and unprofessional—not a shred of hospitality. When we objectively and constructively addressed the rude behavior of the staff with the manager, she immediately became rude and insulting. Original quote: "Where are you from? From Germany. I don't like you anyway." Furthermore, at the end of the menu, it states that you have to add a 12% tip, which is completely unjustified given the abysmal service. We never felt welcome in this restaurant and cannot recommend it under any circumstances. One star is still too many! We recently visited this restaurant and it was an absolute disappointment. Two people ordered a preserved egg, a bamboo tube steamed spareribs, and a spicy chicken pot. The preserved egg was a little small, the steamed spareribs were a little undercooked, and the spareribs were not processed enough in the early stage, resulting in a slight meaty smell, but overall it was ok, and the chicken pot was spicy, salty, and slightly spicy to suit my personal taste

Emei Yipai’s Chinese food is great! The dishes are authentic and the taste is authentic, especially the Sichuan cuisine is spicy and fragrant, with endless aftertaste, and Maoxuewang is simply overbearing. The elegant environment and warm and thoughtful service make people feel warm. Friends who want to eat authentic Chinese food in London must try it, highly recommended!

This detail problem reflects their inconsiderate service. • The overall service was indifferent, without basic courtesy and enthusiasm, which made people feel very uncomfortable. 2️⃣ There was concealment of information at checkout (serious opacity): • They told us that we could enjoy a 10% discount if we paid in RMB when we were about to check out. • But the exchange rate they used was as high as 9.71, while the normal exchange rate I checked that day was about 9.4. Obviously, they secretly added a price to the exchange rate without informing us in advance. • The so-called 10% discount only applies to food. There was no discount at all for the two glasses of bayberry juice we ordered. I always order the bullfrog with pickled peppers, which is really delicious. This time I also ordered the Maoxuewang, which was also good! The environment is good and the service is very friendly. I will come again next time!

Felt slightly let down by this visit since there are many good reviews for the restaurant. It was interesting to try Sichuan cuisine, but felt some portions weren't good value for money (expensive). There were a number of fruit flies around the dining area which was also off-putting. Service could have been quicker. On the plus side, the menu offered a wide selection of dishes to choose from, including vegetarian. Had ordered a shrimp dish, spicy beef brisket pot, stir fried water spinach, and pak choy, tofu and pork soup. General toilets are downstairs.

One of the good Chinese restaurants in London. We waited 15-20 minutes at the entrance. They gave us paper for the queue, and this practice allowed us to walk around and come back. Sachuan style meat (like soup) was amazing. We wanted it less spicy, but even that was spicy. The portion was very large. Meat noodles were very delicious. It crushes the Japanese. Lamb meat was good. Fried chicken would be our least choice for next time. Since the portion is very sufficient and large, we recommend that you order a small amount first.

I've eaten all over Chinatown, and I still think the taste of this restaurant suits my taste. It's just like back home, very authentic. The prices are also fantastic and the service attitude is great.

The food was extremely spicy since literally half the dish was chillies. No vegtabled and without any sauce. The water taste of chloride. So the high rating seems to be based on friends!!!

The cabbage fish soup is pretty authentic if you looking for big portion with reasonable price. The other dishes are able to adjust the flavor to increase or decrease spice as well. Would come back to try other more dishes.

as other reviewers mentioned, beware that they are not forthright about service charge. I specifically asked if service charge was included and they said no. So we added a tip on top of what i later realized we were already charged 12.5% service charge. it's confusing because they do not give you a bill with prices and handwrite the total. shame as the food was good but there are other more honest businessees out there to take my patronage. Oh and they charged us for rice and two extra beers that we didn’t order.

I tried Er Mei because it has the highest ratings in Chinatown but was so disappointed in the quality of food! There are many tastier more authentic Chinese restaurants in the area. The pecking duck was very dry. There are no thick noodle dishes like Ho fun which is a popular Chinese staple. I asked what noodles do you recommend and they said Dan Dan noodle soup. It was the worst dish we tried! It’s just plain ramen noodles in a plain hot water, did not taste like broth, had an unusual tea bag flavour, it even had lettuce on top? Honestly such a waste of money, we couldn’t eat it. Everything just tasted quite plain and not flavoursome or authentic like the other restaurants in the area. Sadly disappointed and felt like we wasted £100 :(

I ordered the most popular dish in mainland China: grilled fish. Many of the ingredients have original grilled fish ingredients. It tastes pretty good... but the store still cuts corners? I don’t quite agree with this either! In fact, the grilled fish in the restaurant is not grilled... it is fried!

This is an inauthentic Chinese restaurant. Both the service and the dishes are handled carelessly. I don’t think the chef here knows how to make delicious and authentic Chinese food. Perhaps this place is just trying to casually cater to foreigners. There are better Chinese or Sichuan restaurants in London, so I wouldn’t recommend this one.

Food is really nice, especially for someone that cannot eat spice. I would totally recommend ordering the spicy fish. The atmosphere in the restaurant during Chinese new year is amazing. We got free milk tea from the restaurant.

The food was okay but a very disappointing experience when the bill came. The receipt didn't have any prices on it, only items, and totalled £133 for two of us. We'd eaten a fair amount but not that much! We initially queried it but didn't push it too hard as it was Chinese New Year and didn't want to cause a fuss. After eating, we did the maths and realised we'd been overcharged by about £20. This wasn't a tip - that was added separately. A really disappointing end to what should have been a lovely celebration. The food was alright, but wouldn't say it was anything special. I'd definitely recommend going somewhere else nearby - you'll be spoilt for choice and hopefully treated a bit more honestly than we were here.

The milk tea is delicious - it can be hot or iced, and the sweetness is just right to relieve the spiciness! The boiled beef is very spicy and flavourful. It’s really delicious. It’s very numb and fragrant, and the portion is huge. The dry pot is very fragrant and numb!

Run away! We left this restaurant and were completely disappointed. The reviews are completely misleading. The staff does not speak English, it is very difficult to be understood. Crispy sesame chicken has no taste. Vegetable noodles have no taste. The same goes for the chicken noodles with chicken that didn't seem fresh and a more than unpleasant aftertaste. All this for a monstrous price!! I don't recommend it at all.

The best Chinese-Sichuan food I have had in London. You need to like spicy food in general, I find it delicious. They serve for example an excellent baked fish and a great fish soup. And many Sichuan dishes are for two-three people. Really excellent, huge menu.

The waiter sister has a very good attitude. The indoor environment is clean and tidy, making the experience very comfortable. The dishes are delicious. I recommend the chestnut chicken! ! The dandan noodles have a strong pepper flavor and you can make them if you like them!

Very very good Sichuan style, spicy Chinese food. Amongst a plethora of average restaurants plaguing Chinatown, er mei is the jewel in the crown. It makes a welcome change to be served like you are an actual customer, and not just a pound note. Highly recommend the cold jellyfish starter and the ma po tofu and Sichuan style pork belly. This is my new go to in the area when it's not for dim sum

Amidst an array of countless below-par, stingy and idle restaurants, Er Mei is a jewel in the crown of Chinatown. From being greeted with a warm welcome and white tablecloth, to indulging in first-class Sichuan cuisine, Er Mei is THE place to dine in Chinatown. You’re bonkers if you stroll past and opt for an “all you can eat” buffet.

If you miss hometown food, this is a good choice. I ordered twice-cooked pork, sweet and sour pork and braised pork with pickled vegetables, all good. The slightly spicy aroma of twice-cooked pork is nostalgic

Tasty food, but lied about the service charge. They give you a bill at the end with the items you ordered listed, but without the prices (which admittedly should have been a red flag). The waitress requested a tip when I was about to pay, and when I asked several times whether the service charge was included, she categorically said no each time. This is overall a good restaurant with tasty food and a nice ambience, but badly let down by their dishonesty (which sadly seems to be a trend with restaurants in Chinatown). If you end up going here, make sure yo calculate the total bill yourself before you pay, or ask for an itemised bill with prices.

A friend recommended the Emei pie in London, which is very delicious. I will try it today! I recommend the couple's lung slices. I think it is the most delicious cold dish. The others are a little salty...but they taste very good. You can eat it if you feel homesick.

With so many options in Chinatown, I regret having chosen this establishment. My Kung Pao Chicken and rice weren’t warm and served so fast that it was clearly microwaved. The service was rude and also they put us on a table in the corner behind the wall downstairs, basically looking at a wall. Never again

Unfortunately the food was bland, I think we got the tourist special. The dan dan noodles had some flavor but little spice. The Kung pao chicken came out looking gray and tasted very sweet, no spice at all. Very disappointing.

Food was good but the service was very poor. They charge you 12.5% service charge and then ask for a tip on top of that when paying by card. When I asked them about it, the waitress got pretty upset saying no tip is added. So who gets the service charge?? The bill is not itemised so it's really unclear what you're paying for. Please check your bill if you're going there.

My 'fragrant chicken' main course consisted of minute particles of overcooked crumbs (possibly containing chicken dust) and, what seemed to be, finely diced linoleum. My wife's noodle dish was tasteless and lukewarm. The staff obviously recognised us as single-visit tourists and were totally disinterested. AVOID.
