Embargo in Glasgow City

For my penultimate meal in 2022 my friend and I decided to try this charming place in the west end . Overall it was a great experience. The inside had a lovely decor with a great atmosphere . The staff were very friendly and attentive . The food was really good . We went for sharing plates which consisted of salt and chilli chicken wings , onion rings , vegetable gyoza , chilli chicken bao buns and pork burnt ends loaded fries . Each portion was very tasty and bursting with flavour. My favourite plates were the salt and chilli boneless chicken and the bao buns . The total bill including drinks came to £44 which is really good. If you are looking for Asian fusion cuisine in the west end then definitely check this place out .

Dropped in here two days in a row for lunch whilst on a short visit to Glasgow. Loved the food. On first day had a couple of small plates, Bao Buns and a side salad. Delicious! On 2nd visit, has the Ramen. Awesome. Will definitely come back on my next visit.

We stumbled across here after our original booking elsewhere cancelled on us. The staff did not hesitate in finding us a seat and making us welcome. The atmosphere was brilliant for a Friday night. Both the food and drinks menus had such good selection we were almost spoilt for choice! Food and drinks were so delicious - would highly recommend their bao buns, the best I've ever had! David was our waiter and he was absolutely fantastic - always made sure we were well looked after and such a ray of sunshine to chat to. We will absolutely be returning!

Great for students, they offer £5 lunch deal during the week as well as other student discounts. Amazing food & prices. I would also recommend going to the Wednesday night pub quiz! Really good atmosphere & is perfect for students/young people looking for a fun/good value for money night out. Had two drinks and a starter and it came to £11 for me (with student discount). Will definitely be back.

I popped in for a late lunch based on a recommendation of a friend. It was a nice spot with a chill vibe. The staff were friendly. There were quite a few choices of cocktails and a variety of dishes to choose from. My main reasons for a 4 star rating were that my cocktail came & the glass was only half full with a salt rim that was 3x the amount that is needed or enjoyable (not great considering the price)! I tried one of their loaded fries combos which was good but again heavy on the salty side. All-in-all I would go back again and try a different drink & menu choice for comparison. Maybe even later in the day to appreciate the candle lit lanterns & well crafted ambience a bit more.

£6.10 for a pint is a bit steep in anyones books in my opinion especially when the price is not on the menu

This was a bit of an unexpected gem. I wanted to book somewhere else for dinner but it was closed on a Tuesday so after a search through menus settled on embargo and am so delighted I did. The staff were lovely, really welcoming and helpful and the food was fantastic. We had haggis bao buns and a pork loin starter to share which were fab. Main I had a chicken curry and my son had a fish curry and mine was lovely but when I tried this it was out of this world. Would I go again - no doubt. So pleased to have found this and next time I am in Glasgow will definitely be popping in. Only downside was that as we left there was a sign offering a decent student discount which we could have got via my son which would have saved us over £15 but given how hard it is for restaurants at the moment it’s not one I lost sleep over. They deserve it. Thanks again

Food was soooo good, got a mix of small plates and everything was spot on. Cocktails perfect too and service was 10/10, so friendly. Great atmosphere and decor cosy. I would love to go back but found the seating so uncomfortable, left with a sore back but maybe I'm just getting old lol, gutted as everything was so good but definitely put me off as I couldn't get comfy all night and we left because of this, would have probably stayed for more drinks if not for this.

The atmosphere is absolutely lovely, it's fun and relaxing at the same time. My friends and I came for the pub quiz, which was super fun! So we didn't try anything other than the prawn crackers and drinks. The slushy special was delicious. All the staff is lovely and it's definitely with the value.

Third time in a month, v good staff, good atmosphere. Still to try food! Will be back soon. Overall a great venue for drinks and food.

Visited on the recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed. Staff were super friendly and so helpful. Really nice selection and pretty reasonably priced too. Portions were perhaps a little on the small side but cannot fault the food in terms of flavour - the best katsu I've had in years and I would go back for the apple gyoza alone.
