My favourite coffee/pastry shop in PVD. Everything is perfect and the staff are the best.

We hadn’t been to Ellie's since they moved to their new location, so we made it a point to get there early on Sunday morning—and my god, was it worth it. As someone who used to visit Quebec City regularly, I can say with confidence that their croissants are among the best I’ve ever had. The iced mocha was just okay—not as rich as I’d hoped—but the atmosphere and service? Absolutely top-notch. I’ll definitely be coming back more often. So worth it.

Exquisite. My first visit (long overdue!) to Ellie’s was for a private event and I can’t get back fast enough. The ambiance was excellent, staff were warm, and the food was sublime. The dulce de leche choux buns were out of this world. Also loved the pork belly croutons and salty feta. Thank you for a wonderful visit, Ellie’s!

There are few experiences we enjoy more than French food, pastries and breads and there is little to be had (in our experiences) in our home state of Massachusetts. After reading a random review, we took the 30 minute drive to Providence to check it out. High ceilings, bright but tastsul lighting, an inviting atmosphere and friendly counter associates greeted us. The menu was limited but equally inviting. We opted for sandwiches which for us came with leafy salads. My wife opted for a sandwich featuring brie cheese, while I enjoyed a braised beef sandwich served with sauce Verte, sundried tomatoes and more. It was almost a challenge to finish our food. We also enjoyed a sublime glass of rose and a coffee. We ended with a macaron each. Everything was hand made fresh and delicious. We will be back to this wonderful cafe and Providence, a town offering more creativity with food than anywhere in Massachusetts.

Every time I come here I get in a great conversation with one of the people at the cash register. They are so friendly here. The coffee is great, pastries are out of this world, and the ambiance is so clean and pretty. It really feels like a little French Cafe. I've had their London fog, lavender vanilla latte, a big beautiful stuffed croissant, and the oeufs en cocotte and all were a delight

Was probably the worst breakfast in years. I ordered the drip coffee with the breakfast sandwich on croissant. The coffee tasted like it had been sitting there since last night and the oat milk started to curl after a few sips. The sandwich was extremely bland. The lady who took my order kept asking if I wanted to add more things to the sandwich. Maybe it was a cue that it actually tastes so bad as is and you need to add other things to it to make it reasonable? Also got a couple of strawberry macaroons for our 4 year old, he spat it out on the first bite. Not sure what’s going on, the place actually looked nice for sitting down, but the food was a serious miss, feels honestly kinda stressed out after eating there. Wouldn’t recommend if you are looking for real breakfast.

This place is adorable! The decor really stands out, just such a pretty well though out space. They were super thoughtful and kind about food restrictions. Everything we got was yummy.

Place was empty but we waited 20 minutes for drinks ( water and coffee) and 35 minutes between ordering and getting the food. Had sugar waffle - FANTASTIC!

Me and my gf have been to a lot of cafes around Providence and we’ve decided this is our new favorite spot. 5 star coffee, 5 star food, 5 star atmosphere. Highly recommend!

The hot matcha latte was horrible; it literally tasted like grass and milk. The croissant was good, but nothing special. However, the ambiance is great and there’s a lot of space.

The staff are very friendly/cool and the general vibe of the place is nice. But the service was pretty slow (had to wait 30 mins for a cup of tea) and while the food was solid it definitely gave me food poisoning shortly after eating. Would not recommend.

Nice interior and food was tasty, but pricey for the flavor profile. But the reason for my poor review is the service. We were asked to give up a chair our 2 year old daughter was sitting on because there were many people waiting to sit down. A few minutes later, they came and asked to take yet another chair our friend’s daughter was sitting on. I get that this place is busy, but not sure I agree with asking customers to give up their seats because management failed to buy enough chairs. Not sure I’ll be back

Big shout-out to Zach who served us and was consistently friendly; just not with us, but all the other patrons that came through the door. The green lentil salad was particularly delicious and my husband thoroughly enjoy the quiche. I recommend buying a cookie even though if you are of my age 55 + you will cringe at the price, asking is a cookie really worth that much? But it will be well worth it!

Providence’s hottest club is Ellie’s Wine Bar. This newly opened vino venture offers the perfect environment to relax in an intimate setting while still being very much part of downtown Providence’s famed nightlife. Their night staff is a veritable who’s who of Ellie’s sister restaurant, Gracie’s, and lemme tell ya, they are NOT sending their b-team. These service industry all stars know just how to bring the fine dining experience to this otherwise casual café, trading freshly roasted coffee beans for finely aged grapes without sacrificing the charm offered by either establishment.

I hosted an event in their semi private room and it was absolutely perfect! The room itself was exactly what I was looking for and have the barn doors was so nice for when we wanted to have a little privacy. The open windows also provided for lots of good lighting!! The food and drinks were so yummy and my guests loved it. Stephanie was so helpful with planning everything and was wonderful to work with. She printed customized menus that she designed to match my theme which I appreciated so much. I was able to bring in my own table decor and napkins and the monogrammed macarons from Ellie’s were a perfect touch. Definitely recommend for hosting a small get together (10 people). Can’t wait to be back!!!!

Good coffee, variety of pastries, macaroons, breakfast sandwich, quiche, avocado toast, etc. Fresh ingredients, appetizing presentation, friendly staff; free WiFi, bus your own mugs/dishes/utensils; not cheap but not overpriced either, reasonable for quality & value; good luck with street parking. Support your local small businesses & cafes 👍

Egg sandwiches were great. I won't even talk about the apple tart and cinnamon bun.

Limited breakfast menu, great pre-made options in bakery case, get heated up, ask to triple heat you pastry as they are very cautious not to burn, pastry cold on bottom with single heat up

Ellie’s was our first choice to host our dear friends for brunch on the day we were married. We had enjoyed their salted caramel cake and a few coffee visits previously, and knew it would be a lovely fit. Our time together was filled with delight. Between the delicious food, exceptional service, and lovely art, we created lovely memories. We were treated with kindness and warmth and delicious treats of all sorts. We also savored every last bite of cake after our vows. And the croissants! Scrumptious! Thank you Ellie’s for creating such a tremendous hub for our community in Providence. We savored our time with you and look forward to seeing you soon.

Ellie's is the best cafe in Providence. Not only is the vibe and the food amazing, the people are as well. Today I went in with my 4-year-old daughter and my baby, and I was blown away by how welcoming everyone was to them. My daughter fell in the street outside and so was crying when we came in, and she was greeted with a smile and a cookie. A man we didn't know (a customer) brought a high chair over for my baby. The staff brought over a basket of bread for my kids to snack on, and were so kind when the baby dropped food all over the floor and the four-year-old broke her glass. And my brie/fig/hazelnut sandwich and honey latte were amazing. We love Ellie's!

So when it comes to a great latte and all espresso based drinks, me and my guy don’t play. We literally drive to Yonkers, New York to Mandy Bean Specialty Coffee from Cranston, Rhode Island to get a good latte. Ellie’s is the Mandy Bean of Rhode Island! We were told by the staff that the owner has everyone attend a barista class. 😃👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Talk about investing in your business and it showing. We have yet to have a poorly made drink at Ellie’s. The drinks, top notch, the macrons, OMG 🤤 I will say like a prior review my only issue has been with the breakfast sandwich. I ordered a croissant and only half of it had egg on it and I paid extra for the sausage, needless to say the sandwich was anemic. I just won’t order that again. But I will come back every chance I get for the most amazing latte in all of RI served in a house mug. Our theory is, it’s not worth drinking if you can’t have it in a beautiful thick mug as opposed to a to go cup 🤨 Ellie’s is our favorite spot in all of RI, keep up the great work!!

I visited on a work/leisure trip and had read about this shop in barista magazine and I’m soooo glad I stopped. The oat cappuccino was delicious and beautiful. I highly recommend the chicken salad sandwich or lentil bowl for lunch! I didn’t get to have any pastries but have no doubt they’re just as good. Wish I had more time to stay longer because it was just great! The staff is sweet and have great anticipatory service skills. You can tell these folks know what they’re doing!

The food and the atmosphere were wonderful. But what I'm writing about is the service. I left my jacekt behind and was already far away when I realized it and called the restaurant. They found my jacket and agreed to mail it to me, but would not think of letting me pay for the postage. They just thanked me for dining with them. I live on a small island in Maine and I'm used to that kind of consideration from my neighbors, but what a delightful surprise to find it in the middle of a city! Avrum Weiss Vinalhaven, ME

We hired Elli's for my daughters wedding cake. It was beautiful & delicious. They provided two different cakes. One was dark chocolate cake with blackberry jam & mocha buttercream as the sheet cakes out back, and the presentation cake was 4 tiers with lemon cake, blackberry jam, and honey buttercream. Both cakes were delicious. You will not be disappointed!

Ellie’s provided dessert, wedding cake and their Ellie’s ice cream macarons for my daughter’s wedding - and I can not say enough good things - everything provided was delicious and Stephanie was a delight to work with. I would definitely recommend Ellie’s for any event that you need exquisite and delicious desserts

The decor of this place is beautiful. Thoughtfully decorated. I’ll be on is cool too. Lots of light. Some workers on their laptops. However I ordered a breakfast sandwich which was seven dollars for just an egg and bread and you had to pay 250 additional for sausage or bacon or ham. What came was Really stingy. A tiny little sandwich with one egg. I didn’t wanna have to pay another dollar 50 for an extra egg. But this is just…underwhelming. Also, the regular sandwiches for lunch were all around $20. Is this where we are now - $20 sandwiches? I paid $9.50 for a tiny unfulfilling breakfast sandwich. Although it was tasty. Price your food better and you’ll get repeat customers and five star ratings.

I’m not moved usually to comment on just a croissant but.. I can’t get to Paris but I bet this rivals their best. Perfectly flaky and crunchy. Fresh is the word. Almost hot out of the oven. Served with cold salted butter. The line was out the door. Come early. Nice seating outside if you have a chien! Better than Sucre du Bec in Middletown RI.

We ended up choosing to move forward with using Ellies for our wedding cake after trying another well-known bakery. Our tasting experience at Ellies was enjoyable, fun, and all of the cakes were amazing. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to understand our vision. They were very patient and helpful with answering questions and determining sizes and options for our guest count. We chose the lemon blackberry cake and it was amazing. Our cake design came out exactly how we pictured. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and highly recommend Ellies for anyone in search of their wedding cake!

I had a great experience with Ellie's and would recommend their treats and services! Stephanie was wonderful to work with. She was very attentive, answered all of my questions in a timely manner. I ended up changing my order a few different times and she was so accommodating. We ordered macarons to be delivered to our church and they were absolutely delicious! These sweet treats added to our Mother's Day breakfast and I can't wait to order from Ellie's again.

From start to finish, our catered bridal shower experience was nothing short of exceptional! The team behind the scenes not only delivered delicious food but also were a joy to work with. This was my first catered event and the folks at Ellie's were so helpful. They were professional and genuinely invested in making our bridal shower unforgettable. The staff accommodated gluten-free, vegetarian and dairy free requests and the entire process was seamless and stress-free. I cannot recommend them highly enough for anyone looking to cater an event. Stopped here on a weekend trip, it was exactly what we were looking for! We love coffee shops that not only make good coffee but have the atmosphere that welcomes and makes you comfortable. It was busy, so we got ours to go! The hot vanilla latte, and hazelnut cold brew were amazing. The only thing we would change is the size, they didn't last long!

I came on a Saturday, and it was quite busy. There was a sign posted that instructed people to order at the counter before sitting but was annoyed to see I was essentially the only one following the rules and people just strolled in and put their coats over chairs before getting in line. Also, the music sucked. Just kinda bland techno you could barely hear. All would be forgiven for a great croissant…but it ain’t here pal. I’ve lived in Paris and know a good croissant, and I seek them out. This one was flavorless, the layers not flakey but crumbly, and perhaps even over-baked. It was just a sad cold piece of bread. The customers are what you would expect. 95% of them were white women taking 8 pictures of their coffee for no one. The staff is very nice. The cortado was ok. I just left feeling like I had a meaningless experience.

Nice, spacious café in downtown Providence right across from PPAC with plenty of drinks, pastries, and other food options. The space is nice, but the layout is a bit clustered with a big pillar in the middle and it can get quite busy, making it feel hectic. They are known for their cakes and pastries, though, which I definitely agree are the highlight of their menu. They also offer baking classes, although they are quite pricey. Outside of the sweets, I’m a bit less impressed with their offerings. Food and coffee is good, but there are other options nearby that are cheaper and, in my opinion, better. I will say the presentation at Ellie’s is always great if you’re dining in, so if you’re into the aesthetic of your meal or coffee you’ll enjoy it.

The best breakfast sandwich I ever had! Good cappuccino and good french croissant! Pastries look so good, but unfortunately we couldn't try it all 🤭. Workers here are really kind and friendly. Update: 4 months later still as good as I remember! Breakfast Sandwich with sausage is so good that it remains our first choice. I loved this time tumeric tonic as well!

Ellie's is a gem in Downtown Providence. Attentive and enthusiastic service, exemplary food and drink (particular props to the breakfast sandwich and the pork belly sandwich for lunchtime), comfortable and unstuffy atmosphere. I make a pilgrimage every time I visit Providence.

I hosted my daughter’s bridal shower yesterday. It was perfect! It was exactly what I envisioned. The ambiance was intimate and peaceful. The food was delicious and so flavorful. The cake and cookies were yummy. The service was right on point including the bartender. And I cannot forget the event coordinator, Stephanie. She didn’t miss one thing and made sure we had everything we needed for a lovely evening filled with love.

If they have it, the turkey soup is insane i think about it often.

had a lovely afternoon matcha here. monkey bread was also delectable. and not too pricey given the feeling of casual luxury here, with beautiful yet homey interior and fancy cakes. the staff were absolutely lovely and even though it closes at 3pm, there was no rush to leave. highly recommend for a coffee, pastry or brunch

I would give 10 stars if I could. It was my son’s birthday and I called the same day asking for a cake to be delivered in his university dorm. Samara answered my call and despite they don’t have a delivery service, she was so nice that she went there herself and delivered the cake. And, according to my son, it was delicious! Samara went above and beyond to help me. It was such a special gesture!

Everything I hade here was phenomenal!! Especially their Harvest Vegetable soup. It was life changing. Can’t wait to go back!

Super cute and creative menu items that were really fun to explore when we stopped here on a whim one day. They were really accommodating to my friend’s dietary restrictions and allergies (and my food preferences). And the baristas were more than happy to chat with us and make us honest recommendations about what menu items were the best to try out. A little overpriced for the portions you get, but the experience was so nice that I feel like it balanced out

We placed a large catering order for our all hands retreat and Ellie's hit it out of the park! They made the ordering process super easy (and we had alot of changes) and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend!

This is a review of their private events - we had our wedding weekend Sunday brunch at Ellie's and it was the absolute best choice! The food was incredible, as usual, but Stephanie and the team did an incredible job orchestrating the event, making personalized adorable signs for us, helping us come up with the menu, and serving/clearly labelling foods for guests with dietary restrictions. Highly recommend them for any private events!

We had a brilliant pastie and tea here. What caught my eye was that the pasties in the window were modestly described as “Standard” pasties. Every other pastie in Tavistock is “superlative” or “artisan” or “the best”. It was delicious: freshly baked, generously filled and with lovely flaky pastry. Kudos too to the wonderful woman who served us. She was quick and efficient, cheerful and really helpful: she cut our pastie in two and put the halves in separate bags for us to share.
