This was our second visit to Gardenstown. Last time we just had coffee and cake in this lovely café. We stopped for lunch this time and enjoyed delicious soup. For such an out of the way village, this café is always busy. It’s well worth a visit.

We found this hidden gem last year in Sept 23 while we were on holiday for 2 weeks in Gardenstown. We are back in the area, Turriff this time and knew we would be calling to Eli's cafe and we were not disappointed. Eli and her staff are so welcoming even to the 4 legged visitors. Thats what made us come back daily last year. There is a lovely back seating area and seats on the front however this time we sat in the shop with our dog Narla. The sandwiches are filled with home made fillings and a side salad. The coffee is amazing, the cakes well give them a try for yourself. All served on decorated china plates and cups. Then while your eating the art work for sale catches your eyes. There is something special about Eli's cafe and we will definately be back during our holiday this next 2 weeks. X

Popped in during a visit to Gardenstown. Both had a slice of cake and a juice, also took away a blackpudding sausage roll for another days meal. Cakes were lovely, tasty and really light. Staff were lovely. Enjoyed a good blether with them all. Also some lovely craft bits available to buy. Toilets available on site. Would recommend

Amazing little cafe. Nice outside area at the back and they welcome dogs. The cake was to die for. Generally I always find cake a little dryer out or icing aged whenever visiting any cafe but the cake here was spot on. I had the coffee cake and the kids had the chocolate cake. Lovely little souvenirs to buy. Highly recommend.

Hidden gem we “found”. Had a lovely pie and sausage roll. Some Victoria sponge. Amazing coffee. Excellent tea in beautiful china. Bought some fresh eggs and enjoyed looking at the crafts but sadly didn’t purchase this time. Prompt, cheerful service. Biscuits for our dog. Haste us back.

A wonderful and quaint little spot in the fishing village of Gardenstown. Staying here for a month and visited on Saturday morning for a coffee. A busy little place that welcomes you with open arms! Great cake (tried Mango cake for the first time) and cappuchino. Lots of locally made crafts available too. We will be back again! They also subscribe to Too Good To Go which is great!

Perfect little cafe. Really nice setting and the staff were really nice and friendly. We ordered several items of hot food (steak pie, soup, sausage rolls) and they all taste incredible. We also tried the cakes which were really moist and delicious. The hot chocolate was one of the best I have ever had. There is also a host of artwork and crafts to purchase. Could not recommend highly enough. Must try if in the area!

We have been to Gardenstown for 2 holidays and have always managed to miss the opening times of this little cafe. This third time, we made time to visit and are so glad we did! The staff are so lovely and welcoming and the chocolate cake - wow! One of the best I've ever had. It was so soft and moist and densely chocolately. The red velvet cake was also delicious. Do try and visit if you can. You will not be disappointed.

We dropped in here around 30 mins before closing while we were exploring the various small communities along the coast. Great to recharge us. Had coffee and cake. The cake was superb - carrot 🥕 cake - possibly the best we’ve ever had. The coffee was good - could have been a little stronger for my personal taste with a little less milk. Nice crafts on display and clean toilets - free car park around the corner.

We got to the village mid morning and called for a coffee. Once inside couldn’t resist having a bite to accompany it. We were welcomed by the staff who were really friendly and interested in where we had come from and what we were doing. The cakes and savouries were second to non and we can highly recommend it. The service was great, the food was all home made and delicious. We asked for a cheese scone but they had run out, the owner nipped in the kitchen to make some more whilst we had something else. She told us to come back in half an hour and presented us with a freshly baked cheese scone courtesy of the house. What service and definitely worth a visit. Good parking, even for Motorhomes, a lovely harbour village to enjoy and great atmosphere. Pity there is only 5 stars.

My family were visiting the area and were delighted to find this little gem of a place while stopping off at Gardenstown. It is so quaint and pretty and inside, although small, it is comfortable and cosy. We admired all the craft items that are for sale, and which gave us lots of interesting things to look at during our visit. The scones were delicious and the tea was served in old china, which was a lovely touch. What was even more delightful than the food and drink was the friendliness of the 3 serving staff. They were chatty and friendly and made our visit extra special and one of the highlights of our holiday.

Definitely worth a visit for anyone in the area

Up from Edinburgh to visit my friend who lives here and drove all the way to Gardentown just to go to this cafe for something to eat. My friend has been there on a few occasions and never been disappointed. I’m going to put it down to maybe a bad day. We got in and the place was quiet, there was only one table in and they were leaving and a lady talking to the three members of staff. We were sitting at a table and after about 5 mins moved further into the now empty cafe, apart from the lady to a more comfortable seat and sat waiting. My friend had said it’s always been table service but not one member of the three staff attempted to speak to us, eventually I asked if it was table service and was advised yes it was, so walked the three three steps up to the counter to place an order but unfortunately they carried on with their conversation with the lady while I stood there. I held out hope of someone taking an order but alas this was not the case and I felt that they were now just being rude. We both work in customer facing jobs and would always acknowledge the customer, we decided then to leave and unfortunately didn’t get to sample the tasty goods due to their lack of customer service and rudeness. Very disappointed and my friend was completely embarrassed. Went to a lovely cafe in Portsoy instead where the service was great and they deserved the tip we left.

Eli’s is a cute and comfy coffee shop come gallery/craft shop. The display here includes works by local artists and craftspeople including the cafe owners themselves! The range of cakes here is phenomenal with something for everyone including vegans. So good! Also of note is Eli’s Egg Mayo Sandwich - if you know you know! Try one on the beach for instant nostalgia of childhood family picnics! Eli’s is also dog friendly for dry friendly dogs with a wee biscuit always on offer - and always a friendly chat when time allows - but if it’s summer there might not be time because this place fills up fast - so much so if you want a seat it is probably best to book ahead. Well worth a visit!

Gardenstown on a sunny day must be one of the most gorgeous places on this earth! Even lovelier when sitting in the sunshine, enjoying a gorgeous home made scone with home made jam and clotted cream. There aren’t enough superlatives to describe how wonderful the whole experience was when we visited yesterday. Only slight negative is it isn’t open until 11am, so morning cuppa had to be put off by half an hour till they opened.

Visited Gardenstown as part of a northeast coast Bank Holiday weekend roadtrip, & sought this place out off the back of the nothing but 5-star reviews on here. Wasn't disappointed. Lovely light & tasty cakes, washed down with decent coffee, & a nice chat with the lady that owns & operates the business. Said she's never run a cafe before opening this place, but clearly has the instinct for how to do it well. Well worth a visit as part of time in Gardenstown, which itself is a delightful place.
