Elephants Head in Camden

Great pub, with a nice ambience and music selection (I walked in after hearing some Michael Jackson in the distance). Unfortunately, I was racially assaulted within 15 minutes of arriving. A bouncer, in the belief that I had somehow attempted to “sneak in” through the smoking area (I had bought 2 pints) grabbed my by my hood and dragged me out of the pub as I walked back inside to use the toilet. He justified it with “all these road men coming in”. I am a woman, 5”3, the force was disproportionate and I was sober. After the incident, I was asked by his colleague to delete his identification information from my phone to re-enter. After another protest, I was allowed to re-enter without any conditions:

We had a drink in the evening, great typical pub atmosphere.

One of the only bars in London open til 2 am on a Sunday! The staff are absolutely lovely! Even the bouncers are lovely. Solomon is a treat and was watching my drunk everytime I went out to smoke. Very attentive and observant. As a single female traveller it's nice to feel watched for. Absolutely gems. I left my phone behind on the bar kind of tucked away in the corner by accident. Obviously now a days losing your phone is on another level. I'm not from London I'm here visiting. So plane tickets banking everything I would need. and as a side note some very special photos of loved ones who have passed that I couldn't get back. I was in shock and panic as I never put my phone down like that. And one of the loveliest cutest bartenders had grabbed it and tucked it behind the bar. It was the most relief I've ever felt. So thank you so much for paying attention when I clearly wasn't your my hero and you saved my life I wouldn't have even known how to get home after. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in London. I wish I could remember the bartenders name I feel like it's Christian but I was so overtaken with relief I might be wrong. But either way I Fu©£ing love you.

Always a pleasure, never a pain

Had a couple of nice pints of Guinness here.. Nice friendly staff and prompt service.

We took shots and drank stout to the music from the jukebox until our faces were glued to each other. The bartender gives good recommendations and pours. DJ weekends must be cool. It was quiet during the week.

When I visited The Elephant's Head I was particilarly charmed by its Victorian-style decor, which adds a unique, historical ambiance to Camden's vibrant pub scene. I've added it to my barguide.london site too!

went on a Saturday, thought it would be impossible to find a seat but I guess not. it was quite busy tho . no dj but they were playing old bangers. Bartenders are friendly and orders were accurate. got 2 double rum and mixers came to £17 which isn't bad. Overall great vibe will go again ✨️

A Camden classic, that despite changing with the times is still going strong! May not be the same it used to be but neither is Camden.

We tried to get in but was not allowe even though 3 people where allowed in before me. The security said it is his territory.

So disappointed last night. Been going here to have a good dance for years. I thought it was rubbish after Covid when it was just a playlist but then the 2 old boys came back with their vinyl and everything was great. But last night I can’t begin to tell you how crap it was. DJ meant to start at 10 but he was late which is just rude. After faffing about greeting his friends he finally put a record on. Never heard of it and by the reaction of other drinkers they hadn’t either. The first 3 songs appeared to be unknown by anyone. Then a Monkees song, can’t go wrong there, then another unknown!! I lasted an hour with the stop start disjointed music. Please bring back the old boys. They could read the room and played music accordingly.

Great pub super location, good beer and friendly attentive staff

The crew and the demand is excelent. Local craft beers and “the best” Guinness in Camden. (Because they clean the pipes every day). Bacause we were tourist the barman give a taste from every local beer and after that he asked us where are we from. And finally, after a long conversation in English, it turned out that we could speak the same language.

Lively spot. Great Buzz DJ played some classic indie and rock tunes, Stone Roses and Ramones. Would definitely go back

Incredible atmosphere until two in the morning. Beers of all kinds (for my taste, the best, NECK OIL) and very nice staff. People of all kinds and they have security! I have very good memories.

I love London pubs, I visit the one in Camden every time I visit London. And this Guinness whose foam could be cut with a knife. I recommend.

Nice pub, a bit small, but over all okay.

I have been coming here for decades. However, having visited this evening I noticed a big change, the old owner has after 40 odd years moved on and the music is unfortunately no where near as good as it was. Take a look at the music, it ain't what it was

Well, there's good music playing in the background, good old rock and roll from the 70s and 80s. The mood immediately rises despite the rain. A place that has seen life in a rutted mess. He doesn't play around with silly beers, but just offers himself. The customer base is already at a good pace. This is an authentic pub that matches the atmosphere of the area!

Went out from Camden Town Station, wanted for a beer, this was a very nice , polite, safe place to have a beer at that hour. ;))) Enjoy

Hostile welcome accused of not being a customer when heading to the loo so we left in shock

Cute interior but no one cleans the toilet and pretty much crowded. Some cards are not working here. 그냥 무난한 펍. 굳이?

Typical pub with the advantage of having live music. There was no seat available when we arrived, but a random group offered for us to sest with them. The beer selection is varied, and they were well served. The place was a little bit too noisy, but the music was good and compensated for it.

This used to be my favourite place to go on weekends when the old dj played there. The atmosphere was electric. The music was amazing. But since it recently changed owners there are different djs who lack the quality of the old dj. Now atmosphere is non existent. Sad to say that after being disappointed numerous times I have now stopped going there

This used to be the best place to come in London, used to come here over any other place, great old school tunes used to be played by the DJs every weekend and the atmosphere was amazing everyone loving the music and dancing. The ownership has now changed and seems the old DJs are no longer there. the last 4 or 5 times it had been different DJs who don’t even come close to the older DJs and the atmosphere is no longer the elephants head atmosphere we know and love, will no longer be choosing this place over others.

…as they’re open until later than most other pubs in the area so be prepared for it to be busier the later towards closing time it gets. Pretty friendly atmosphere usually, despite the doormen.

Came in on Friday night for xmas work drinks.. gabor looked after us... was such a good night we can't wait to come back

Was in the Elephants head two weeks ago. Gone have the older DJs who played great tunes which got everyone up singing and dancing. Young DJ in there now on a weekend. Place half empty, those that were in were not listening to the dull music - just looking at their phones. Won’t be going in there again. Real shame

It's a typical pub/bar. A few seating areas and a bar. Toilets aren't very clean or functional.

We thought there Saturday night for couple of drinks and we end up there till the closing time. Attila was serving us, and he is been amazing. So funny and friendly. As restaurant manager I wish to have all Attila in my team! :) Look after him, and if you gonna loose him, give me a shout as I’ll take he in my team 😂😂

My brother and I recently visited The Elephants Head in Camden for a casual pint of Guinness. The pub exuded a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, with cozy stools tucked away in a quiet corner, creating an ideal space for a leisurely conversation. The Irish barman on duty was an absolute gem, displaying exceptional politeness and genuine helpfulness. He even went out of his way to apologize for serving Guinness in plastic glasses, which was due to the bustling Halloween crowd and rapid customer turnover. Despite the temporary plastic serving, the Guinness was expertly poured and tasted great. The overall experience at The Elephants Head was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We’re definitely looking forward to returning for another enjoyable visit. Cheers to a great spot in Camden!

Popped in for drinks so glad we did great pub with great music and the staff and security are welcoming and friendly 😃 We will definitely be back on our next trip to Camden Town.

The new security manager was rude and disrespectful, he don’t let in males at midnight on a Saturday and wasn’t full at all but for a white ladies was open! What was that? Gender discrimination?? I’ve been a regular costumer since 2012 but definitely elephant head is not the same with expeensives prices and not nice, rude and disrespectful staff Not RECOMMENDED THIS PLACE AT ALL Camden have other nice pubs around

Love this pub. Only place in Camden that caters for mods, rockers and skinheads. Proper British subculture hub. It’s recently gotten back on track and is amazing. Music is fantastic there.

Been going there for years and always had a good time. Despite being obviously over 60 I was asked to show ID, passport or driving licence, things which most UK residents don’t usually carry. Didn’t have them so didn’t get in. Went instead to the Dev. Not my loss! Won’t be going back.

This pub had been the pinnacle of visits to London for many years: it was as always the best of nights out. Sadly it changed ownership in July 3023 and has lost everything that made it wonderful in just a few short weeks. Gone are the two older guys who had an awesome collection of vinyl to spin on a Saturday night. In is a new young DJ who seems to think that playing the tracks she loves is the way to maintain the mood that once oozed out of this terrific venue. It was the music that made this place, and it would be heaving with people of all ages dancing and singing along to classic hits of the 60s, 70s and 80s. This time it was half empty, lacked any atmosphere and just felt like any other low quality Camden Pub. RIP Elephants Head, we will always remember you.

Any place that has a DJ with vinyl records has already won me over. Then you top it off with the most lovely service (huge shout out to Nadia - the most incredible bartender in London). If you’re in Camden, you can’t skip The Elephants Head.

Disappointed after reading the reviews i was expecting better. The friendly atmosphere obviously retired with the previous manager. Charged £1.20 for a dash of lime in our pints by an attitude with **watever * on her jacket. The locals must be gutted. Disgusting toilets . Only good thing was the music

I spend a wonderful moment yesterday, especially because of an angel behind the bar named Nadia, a very professional and careful person! I've rarely someone that sympathetic working in a pub... I advise you to taste the Brixton beer, it's local and tasty!

Very very strange institution, don't me wrong it's a very fun night out however I've had too many of my friends rejected from coming in now for no apparent reason that I have to leave a bad review. Every time its the "Manager's Call", I've met him many a time and it seems like a scape goat excuse. Until this changes my review will remain the same.

OK het was druk, maar dat geeft het personeel je niet het recht je straal te blijven negeren en anderen voor te nemen. Als je dan toch een beurt krijgt ongeïnteresseerd beginnen zaniken over een tafelnummer dan is voor mij de maat vol. Ik ben het afgetrapt naar een ander restaurant. De slechtste bediening ooit.

Positives - the atmosphere is great. A lot of energy and good music - nice selection of drinks - nice bar staff Negatives - can get very busy. There isn’t a lot of room in the mid section of the pub so it can get a little crammed around the bar area - the bouncers on one occasion were very rude to someone in a wheelchair. They tried to push this woman in a wheelchair next to the toilets. Which was on the other side of the bar - away from her friends. They had a perfectly fine space before and wasn’t in the way at all. Fortunately, some people saw how upset the girl was and challenged the bouncer. The person in the wheelchair was then able to go back to where her friends were instead of sitting alone next to the toilet door. Seeing that whole experience was quite sad and it seemed like the security had an issue with someone with a disability.

Security is worse. New security big African guy is so unprofessional and racist. He let go all the girls no issues and the people he knows. Management should check on him and check the cameras.

I like this pub. When I visit my son,Camden is a convenient place to go after our Saturday visit to a different venue and good transport links for both of us to return to our own homes. They serve honest burgers, a bit of a wait but good anyway. Follow the market route towards the lock . It's popular so for a lunchtime stop, get in early

Called in to cool down in the June heat. Lovely old pub, good service and good selection of beers. Guinness especially good. Not too busy on a Friday afternoon and good spot to people watch.

The only thing I will point is that the beer was rather warm. Other than that , a great place.
