Absolutely wonderful authentic Indian restaurant. We come here regularly as a family and having spent a lot of time in India we can vouch for the fact that this is the best and most authentic Indian restaurant in Salisbury. If you would like to sample proper southern Indian food you MUST come here. I would recommend the Kerala paratha (basically a buttery crisps substitute for a naan) with any of the curry dishes, and if you want to try a little bit of everything you must try that Thali as you get to sample ALL of the dishes. The service is always lovely - we really hope this restaurant stays! Our top picks are usually the lamb dishes, and my mum who is pescatarian loves all the fish dishes too. Great options for veggie and the guys will always offer to make your dish more or less spicy to your taste if you wish.

This is a great place to come for an amazing meal. We enjoyed the atmosphere and service very much. I would highly recommend the Kerula beef curry and Peshwari (cocunut) naan.

Last night we had quite possibly the best Indian meal ever! We ordered dishes that we’d never had or heard of before but sounded awesome on the menu. The food was absolutely delicious with flavours that made your mouth water whilst eating it. The owner spent some time with us talking about the different dishes and how they are made. Can’t wait to go back again.

Lovely setting with lovely food. Indian dishes that I have not come across before which were light and well spiced, especially the mushroom side dish - yummy. Highly recommended.

Lovely restaurant - best Indian meal we have experienced and lovely to try new things rather than standard chicken tikka and everything so fresh. Variety of dishes very wide and varied. Was brill experience from start to finish and staff very attentive from start to leaving. We had scallops and crab cakes for starters and beef curry and lamb chops mains with spinach side dish rather than aloo gobbi and 2 devine desserts. Cosmopolitan cocktail wonderfully fresh. Not the cheapest but definitely worth it and the best - affordable fine dining

Lovely food and nicely decorated venue. However it was absolutely freezing cold so ended up having to sit in our coats. Tables were sticky too. Overall would return and would recommend because the food was delicious just make sure you wrap up warm !!!!

I’d recommend you book a table here at weekends as it’s incredibly busy … and with good reason. The food is out of this world. My husband and I chose a selection of food to share. Our mouths were bursting with the most wonderful flavours. This is the most authentic Indian restaurant outside of India! The staff go all they can to make your visit special. I should also add, we were very pleasantly surprised with the bill. My husband recommends the house draught lager.

Great service and delicious food. I like something different and this Indian delivered on that, as well as having some good old favourites. We went for lunch and the Thalis and lunchtime options were fantastic. I loved my traditional rice dessert that they recommended, delicious! As someone else said it was freezing cold in the venue though…. But the team tried hard to make sure we were warm and it’s a big old building to heat so not easy for them. We were keen to support them as this venue has seen a lot of change over the years. On that basis we felt they were doing all they could to make it a success and I just hope that they get busy, creating more of a buzz and start to get more money in. imho being cold was a small price to pay for supporting them to become permanent residents here. Please support them! You can’t help but to love the food and the river frontage and lovely decor.

I’ve now visited Elai twice, once on my own and once with my young kids. Both times I’ve been absolutely blown away by the incredible food and wonderful service. Both me and my Wife had the non-vegetarian Thali this time and it was just fantastic! Thank you to the Elai team for coming to Salisbury, can’t wait to visit again soon!

Best curry in salisbury hands down. Friendly staff and amazing food, filling portions and an explanation about the dishes and where they come from when they arrive. Recommend the paratha and the kulfi for desert!

The service was great and the food was delicious. I recommend you give it a go. Just ignore the works at the front for now. I would imagine it will be great in the summer outside when car park is finished

Specialising in South Indian cooking, so not the standard run of the mill fayre. Went for a family meal so wanted a treat ! Decor nice service good all food was lovely and prepared to pay bit more but it was freezing ! We were told it was a cold place to eat and wrap up ( which we did ) but it was freezing,I know open space and by river and really cold night but put heat on earlier or put some stand alone oil heaters , loos were warm even if hand dryers are for giants ( very high on wall ) .we were all so cold it was not nice we even felt cold when got home very uncomfortable Shame 😞

This is a beautiful spot with wonderful authentic cuisine and great service. Highly recommend! We have had several tasty lunches and attended a lovely special event.

Our first visit to this restaurant, we were all impressed with the look of this restaurant and made to feel very welcome. Waiting Staff were attentive and polite and the gentleman took our order was helpful with our menu choices. We had mixed popadoms which were all freshly made and tasty. Starters were okay, chicken65 was quite bland and dry fried and my sheek kebab was fine. The dosa’s were all really crispy as expected and very tasty with more masala chutneys needed which they were happy to top up. My Milagu Varutharacha chicken curry was very tasty and chicken was tender with some added chilli. I really enjoyed the light kerelan paratha. Butter paneer curry was also very tasty. There are plenty of variety of vegetarian options as well as non-veggie! The staff were friendly and didn’t make us feel rushed. We highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning soon.

Absolutely flawless service! I can honestly say I have never felt as welcome in a restaurant as I did last night. This place is special and the staff so friendly and welcoming.
