We managed to obtain a booking late on Saturday, booked via ‘messenger’, we were greeted and looked after by Lucy who was very helpful and engaging, she made my birthday meal with friends a very nice experience. We had a great time and a good laugh, the food was very good and we all really enjoyed our evening. Thank You to all the staff and especially to Lucy.

Me and my partner attended, food wasn't great, could tell it's probably from the local aldi. Paid 90 pound for an underwhelming experience, staff weren't very attentive, wouldn't agree the food and alcohol prices matched the quality.

Booked a table over the phone. Staff were super friendly and table was already ready for when we arrived. Prices were great. We had the BBQ hot honey wings which were really tasty but mostly BBQ. Chicken was super soft though and tasty. Fajitas were lovely great portion size and very tasty. Gland slam was great, highly recommend the ribs they were lovely! Overall, lovely food and service, will definitely be back again

Really enjoyed the food for my daughters birthday. The flavours are excellent and food well presented. Nice atmosphere and conveniently located just of the main street.

customer service was fine, nice and friendly on collection. food left something to be desired. The chicken skewer was chewy and rather bland, however my partner did enjoy his burrito.

Awesome delivery, the food was piping hot and delicious, we really enjoyed our meal and definitely will order again. The best in town can’t fault them at all. Merry Christmas x

Just ordered food from here as was seeing friends in the area and I have no idea how this place is so highly rated. One of the worst takeaways I've had in a while. Portion sizes are small for the Money, Cuban chicken was tasteless with funny tasting rice and and not a great coleslaw. The maryland fried chicken was also lacking in taste and verging on burnt, also both chips were so bad neither kids or adults would eat them. The only but that was OK was the ribs. Overall this was a poor quality, small portioned meal that was extremely over priced at £60 when half of it no one could eat. I eat all over the country as travel a lot and try all different kinds of food from all around the world from all sorts of establishments and this will be up there with the worst of them. Save your money and go elsewhere

Playing Mexican music in the background and putting hats on the wall doesn’t make it a Mexican restaurant I’m afraid. Our experience last night wasn’t great, warm food, bland, flavourless chicken and rather than sauce on my skewers it tasted more like a curried gravy, which had seeped into the coleslaw. Raised with the server who had no clue what to do. Pleasant and friendly staff but the food needs to improve massively before we return.

My husband's favourite steak anywhere in England!! The new venue is more central but still with the same feel. Now dig friendly so that makes it easier for us to go more often 💖

Food was ok, but the thing that let the place down for me was when the young lady with Red hair and glasses came to take our order, just as I was about to start telling her our order she looked away at her friend which I thought was quite rude of her and set a bad tone

We love this place, it has to be one of the best Mexican restaurants in the UK! The food is authentic, delicious and tasty. The portions are really good as is the service. We met the chef Lee, what a decent chap and an amazing chef he is! We look forward to returning very soon 😎

Fantastic ribs Good cocktails all at a reasonable price

Placed an order for collection. Food obviously wasn't cooked fresh as it said it was ready 5 minutes after ordering. This left no time to get to the restaurant, and it was completely cold by the time we got it home, the metal containers weren't even warm. The cajun salmon didn't seem to have any kind of cajun seasoning and was covered in a sauce which basically just tasted of vinegar. The mash was instant, and the chips were like cardboard. Really disappointed.

Such a great place! Airy, welcoming and filled with the sound of people pleasantly relaxing. Background music remained (mercifully) in the background. The place had a wonderful atmosphere, helped by the enthusiasm and friendliness of the staff. The food was beautifully cooked and presented with fresh ingredients. The drinks were spot on, too. Definitely a welcoming and happy place, well worth a visit.

First time ordering. salmon wasn't 8oz like said was 6oz. My daughters meal didn't turn up at all. I paid alot for something different.

Maybe it’s just takeaways, but the ones we had were not worth the money paid. Burgers were squashed inside the foil trays, scant amount of salad. Fajitas, swimming in stock in the leaky foil trays, came with half a pot of salsa, yoghurt dip and tasteless grated cheese. Food didn’t actually have any flavour. Very disappointed after being told the food is amazing. Not on this occasion sadly.

The mains were yummy and portion sizes are perfect. The Nachos were a disappointment. £7.50 for a few Nachos with very little cheese, jalapeños, salsa, quac and sourceam. I could've made a big batch myself for that money. 👎🏻

I have been to many Mex and Tex/Mex places in my time but this place... AMAZING and real flavours of the West Indies too!! The Enchiladas are packed put, the rice and beans are anything but bland like I've tasted in some places. We had the Nachos Cowabunga, which is nachos with chilli and sort of a fajita chicken mix (the chicken mix is unbelievable), my partner had the Enchiladas and I tried the chicken,bacon and steak burger, crazy portion size and a word of advice the suicidal sauce is exactly what it says... It took almost an hour, a glass of milk and 2 ice cold pints of Moretti to calm it down! Great prices, great staff and great decor! Would definitely visit here again!

If you like Tex Mex don't go here... Why? Because after that, any other TexMex you go to will be a disappointment. It really is good.

Amazing food, we’ve had it three times now and it’s unbelievable. I can’t believe they manage to deliver steak medium rare it’s so good!

Limited choice for veggies but great place and great service - friendly food and delicious staff. Would recommend

A good Mexican restaurant in Scarborough. The food portion was great and quantity was sufficient, but the taste was not as great as I thought it should be. The famous Mexican spiciness was missing from all the dishes even though I asked before placing the order. The nachos were nicely poured with cheese but it made the nachos soggy rather than crispy. The burger was giant and full of cheese which was very tasty. But the chicken was very bland and without any spice or flavour. The chicken fajitas were served on skillet which should have been sizzling hot but it wasn’t even hot, which was a bit disappointing. Some of staff was helpful and kind. There were big mexican hats also kept for hire in restaurants along with mexican music. Overall it wasn’t bad.

Came without booking tonight.very kindly fitted us in although busy. Beautiful food. Thoroughly recommend the creole salmon and King prawns. Amazing. Husband had the surf and turf and I had to stop him lucking the plate. Staff on point. Quick efficient and attentive. Oh and the margaritas are as they should be. Salty and sharp. Will definitely come again ❤️

I DON'T TRUST EL GRINGO ANYMORE Chicken very hard and runny as if it was undercooked and the burger was cold & a load of slop very soggy, cold mash, cold corn on cob. It was absolutely disgusting, the delivery lady was lovely, she was the best thing about this delivery. Be careful spending your money here very very hit & miss, like a lucky dip. You won't be getting my money again. Ripped me off too many times with your poor food 😪

We always had a great time at the old location, so are delighted it's just as good at the new spot - and is more central to town! Excellent food, friendly service and competitive prices, with plenty of vegetarian options - a brilliant Mexican restaurant! Please take them seriously on the "very spicy" option, it's really hot, but still really tasty! I'm a vindaloo eater and generally find Mexican food to be not as hot, no matter the claims, but El Gringo's "very spicy" Chimichanga blew me away, it was great!

expected more of a Mexican bean chilli, bag of frozen veg just made it wierd, not even fresh veg!

I got the chicken and beef fajitas. Nothing Mexican about it. Strips of hard, yet rubbery chicken and beef. Drowning in water. I’m sure it was some sort of Iceland frozen meat strip. I’ve never had a takeaway this bad.

Staff were incredibly friendly as always, I'm an incredibly picky eater and they were super pleasant when I asked for just the ribs and fries. Overall pleasant experience, fast service, friendly atmosphere, good prices. Might even try something other than ribs one day!

Food was not as good as expected the standard as dropped, the chips not cooked properly, mash and burger soggy cold and very greasy along with the onion rings. This is a honest review and I'm like the gordon ramsey of Scarborough so don't mess with me alreet 😁 you really need to step up you game please as I'll be testing you out again in a month, oh & where is the chicken chilli gone from your menu that was nice?

Food was amazing, my steak was cooked rare to perfection and it was a proper sirloin steak cut, came warmer than a lot of restaurants who only have to move it from the kitchen! The bruschetta was also amazing cooked how it should be with a tropical twist and nachos were bang on.
