El Gringos in Leeds

Even though we had a confirmed reservation the restaurant was closed on arrival

It's ok for something quick but the steel chairs and general decor need serious attention.

Always cancel orders and when I've had the food is usually cold

Sat in the dark, had to ask for a drink 20 minutes after we was there, had our starters an hour and half after drinks then was told their was not enough chicken for both meals, left paying for what we had. Will never return, its not the same anymore

Love it here go all the time, portion sizes ere great and cocktails and even better! Deffo recommend for large groups or even a girls night.

Extremely rude chef!! Staff was nice but looked like they didn't know what to do and how to run the tables smoothly. We waited nearly an hour for starter (1 for the whole table!) and another 30-40 minutes after that for mains. Part of the order was missed for one person and when we asked waiting staff, the chef shouted so we and all restaurant could hear 'what's his problem?!' We left paying only for what we had. It looked like they were much more focused on take away orders than the customers they had in the restaurant. Massive shame, because food that we had was lovely, but will never go back because of chef's attitude.

The food was great, but the staff seemed to struggle with the basics. We had a 1 hour 10-minute gap between our starters and mains. We ordered a round of drinks and randomly 1 pint arrived out of 5 drinks and after I asked a second pint arrived and a rum and the other 2 drink never arrived. I believe our table wasn't the only people who was complaining The main issue is this restaurant was too busy serving takeaway orders that the customer in the restaurant just didn't get properly looked after. When our food finally arrive none of us was really bothered it got ate but we was passed it a bit. I get it stuff happens, but better communication. Oh well nevermind.

Today we celebrate my daughter birthday, the staff are always kind and helpful. the food was wonderful. we always choose to come to El Gringos, attentive staff and tasty food at a fair price

It used to be so good but has gone downhill recently. After the last takeaway we got was cold, like it had been sat in the car for an hour, I thought I'd try collection. Of 3 meals ordered, 2 were wrong. A vegan quesadilla with cheese and sour cream and chicken and mash with no mash. When we phoned about it we were told a manager would call back but if course they didn't. We'll give it a miss from now on.

Booked a table here for 5.30 four adults 2 children after asking several times about our food we were constantly told a couple of minutes. Some of us finally got served at 6.50 the rest got served 15 minutes later and the food was only just edible.

Terrible service, ordered a takeaway and the food took over 2 hours to arrive. I had previously been to El Gringos and enjoyed it but I’ll never go again following such bad service. Congrats on losing a customer.

Decent portion sizes but food is nothing amazing. The main issue is the wait time for food. Be prepared to wait a while for main dishes

It Was OK. food was nice but wasn't anything beyond a chain type restaurant feeling. Reminded me of a Mexican pizza hut with the decor.

Always loved this place and i cant fault the waiters and waitresses and they do the best cocktails. However, we ordered food to be delivered, food wasnt hot i'd say luke warm. My daughter had eaten half her chicken burger then noticed it was pink inside, she showed me and i told her not to eat anymore. I had messaged them twice, first message they have seen with no reply and the second message they are clearly ignoring! They either need new msnagemeng or a chef who knows how to cook! picture of burger in comments 🤮🤮

Eat here on a regular basis, great food, excellent prices and good service. A mix of Mexican and American food with very generous portions so make sure you're hungry when you visit, my wife often has a kids meal and even they're generous portions. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

This place is really basic. Food is slopped onto a plate with little thought to any presentation. We had two different main dishes but they both looked identical when they arrived. The waiters are 15 years old and really not sure about anything really.

Just picked up an enchilada and burrito with fries and onion rings direct from the restaurant. Had to wait 5 mins because it "wasn't quite ready". No probs. Drove 5 mins home and all the food was cold. Defies logic. £25 wasted.

Two stars for the excellent friendly service from the young lady that served us. I personally did not like the food. The fajitas were bland. More like chicken in gravy. Just bland. You got 5 or 6 fajitas but a minuscule set of sides that were gone in one, possibly two rolls. I asked for more and was given them with no problems. Don't think I will be in a hurry to return.

More than Tex-Mex. They have Cajun, southern fried chicken and Hawaiian dishes on the menu. Not the same Tex-Mex you will get in the Southwest US but enjoyable. Friendly staff.

Got a takeaway it was late but tbh I don’t care food was worth the wait best ribs I’ve ever had we also had salmon , chilli burger and a burrito and everyone was blown away Great food

Wow! Loved it all. Food, service and staff are all amazing. Staff were really careful re: gluten-free requirement. We shared a starter, which was plenty for 2. Main course portion sizes were very generous (food bags for both of us, and we have good appetites). Excellent value. We went when it was quiet so there were no wait times. We will return very soon. Why didn't I know about this place before??

5/5: Absolutely fantastic. The starter arrived within 10 minutes and was brilliant. Very soon after we finished, the main course arrived and was the best mexican food I have ever had. Staff were very friendly and co-operative. Fantastic value for money and we will be returning soon.

Wonderful food and service. Pricing was great for the quantity of food. Another great independent restaurant that shows they care. Will be back again.

A bit loud (maybe I'm getting old). But the food was tasty and the service very friendly. I rarely use cash any more, so couldn't leave a cash tip. The contactless payment was over before I could think of offering a tip. Sorry about that. I wish there was a better way of offering tipping options for people without cash.

Ordered food and was informed it would be up to an hour for delivery. 1 hour and 45 minutes later (and after 3 phone calls) it finally arrived. Disappointing.

Ive bough a few takeaways from here on special occasions and I’ve always really loved it. So for my birthday i wanted to go and have it at the actual restaurant. I was so surprised to see how quiet it was. The service was amazing i don’t know what other reviews are about. Our starter took 30 mins but I prefer this as it gives me time to talk and spend time with my family. 20 mins after the starter we got our mains and it was the best chicken ive ever eaten. The portions are big aswell and i couldn’t finish it. They also let me keep one of their sombreros since it was my birthday which was so sweet of them. They definitely deserve more customers! I will be going as much as i can. Definitely the best birthday meal ive ever had. Thankyou.

Food was great, but the place was so cold had to wrap my coat around my legs to keep warm, toilets too need some attention they were not the cleanest.

Service ridiculously slow half of food wrong food was substandard then overcharged us 💩💩💩😒😒🙄🙄😦 the toilets were absolutely awful the doors wouldn’t lock and there was no light in the cubicle so it was dark,and it was tiny... I wouldn’t recommend this place. 👎

We've been here quite a few times now and the food has always been very nice, the drinks are about averge price for a restaurant and food around £10 / £14 . we were dining on early Saturday evening and it was very quiet, which in these times of Covid is probably a good thing for the customers !!!!

Beautiful food. Catered to my egg allergy really well. Reasonable prices. Only thing for the resturant to work on is the wait time for food. Waited 50mins for starters and roughly 30mins after for mains. Even tho the resturant didnt seem busy. Everything is cooked to order and is very tasty

Just been here for the 1st time. Staff lovely, food lovely, nice atmosphere and amazing value for money. A 2 course meal for 4 with cocktails came to £100. Fabulous , we will be back. Xx

Great quality food & value for money. Unfortunately our server had to deal with a complaint so tables we're left waiting. Other members of staff seemed to prefer listening in rather than clearing tables, checking how food was and getting other orders. Would definitely return though just an unfortunate incident that left us a bit disappointed.

one giant nacho dry and moulded together that’s been sat under a pass lamp for hours cost me £8 because they ran out of something else. Would love reimbursement x

We ordered our food at 8pm on a Saturday night, we asked how long for delivery told 50mins to an hour, not the best but having been hear before and having a taste for Burrito we were happy to wait. After 1 hr 10 mins I called and got told it was being bagged up and would be with us in the next 10 mins. I called a further 20 mins later and was told it was with the delivery driver, it took a further 15 minutes for it to turn up. At this point it was 9:45pm and we were over it. The food was obviously cold and did not meet the usual standard. It was tasty but it was like eating next day food.

We have had Just Eat delivery from El Gringos a few times over the last 2 months and it has been a delicious meal every time. My wife has a gluten allergy and they are very careful and have some good options for her. The portions are very large, consistently prepared, and a substantial menu to boot. We are very glad to have discovered this restaurant! We have had the Burritos, enchiladas, chimichangas, Monterey chicken, and the Cajun chicken. All were excellent. The chimichangas are deep fried burritos essentially so calorie beware! 🤤 Highly recommended.

I had the best burger I have ever eaten that I hadn’t made myself from El Gringos. The burger was perfectly seasoned, tender and juicy. The food was delicious and still piping hot when it arrived. The portions are incredibly generous and excellent value for money. I ordered a child’s burger meal and still couldn’t eat it all and I am a good eater. Coleslaw, fries and onion rings were also delicious and the cheesecake is amazing. I’m delighted to have this restaurant available to us and you can order directly with them so they can keep all the revenue from your order.

Slow service, got one of our mains wrong and a dessert, quiet pricey however the food was absolutely gorgous and there alcoholic drink selection was great

Outstanding service and food. Piping hot, tasty and enormous portions. 2 waitresses including Grace(ours) worked tirelessly serving and mixing drinks, serving food, taking payments, making sundees, taking takeaway orders over phone, clearing and cleaning tables all with a smile on their faces. Best food and service in a long time. Definately coming back

Had my first takeaway from here on Saturday and it was fantastic. Good portion size (often takeaways from restaurants tend to skimp), ready exactly when they said it would be, easy to use website for ordering. Have already recommended to friends and family. Will be coming back.

1st visit on Sunday 6 of us ordered food starts yummy wings then main course steak and ribs ohhh my gosh good yummy spicy without being over top we all tried different things. Amazing staff polite helpful attentive without being fussy. Really enjoyed would recommend food from here. Great service even got to take doggy bag home. Definitely worth a visit
