El Greco, Sheffield in Sheffield

First time we've visited this restaurant and were rather disappointed with the food. The souvlaki was dry it had been over cooked, the saganaki was tasty, we expected fresh courgette fried in batter as we've had it like this in Greece but unfortunately it was chopped courgette in a breadcrumb coating. The staff are friendly and very welcoming 5 stars here. This is a nice restaurant it's a pity that we were the only customers,

Quiet early evening meal on a Saturday. Not much atmosphere as we were the only diners in the room. Service was polite and friendly, and the food was lovely. Nice little restaurant.

The restaurant’s interior on the top floor is pleasant. The food was extremely disappointing. I ordered a traditional dish and to be honest it tasted like a store bought meal. A complete waste of money. I’ve completely written this one off.

Finally, a Greek restaurant where the food actually tastes Greek! Been here a few times and I love it. They really nailed the authentic Greek taste and the prices aren't that bad for what this place is. It's usually very quiet as well, although we usually visit during the week which may be the reason for that. They play Greek music and the staff speak the language as well, so it's easy to strike up a conversation. Overall, great experience. I recommend the Skepasti!

This is about as good as you can get in England for an authentic Greek taverna experience. Great food, a glass roof area for when we actually have sun. The Gyro souvlaki here is great in all the variations they do along with its cousin the skepasti. I'm yet to try other dishes here but will definitely be coming back. Warnings for locals to consider: This is a genuine Greek restaurant, staff will not always constantly check up on you like English restaurants. It is the Greek way to be more relaxed and you may need to ask for what you want or shout them over politely. To address anyone complaining in other reviews about some food being microwaved. This is likely true and typical even in Greece. Heavy slow cooking dishes like Moussaka or Pastitsio are generally made in the mornings as they take hours to prepare. If you want these dishes fresh you will need to ask when they are made and avoid if reheated food bothers you. Otherwise the majority of fish, meat and vegetable dishes are made fresh on the spot and are delicious. I strongly recommend this restaurant despite the perceived downsides. All round a great experience in Greek dining.

Wasn’t greeted on arrival, had to ask if we just sit down anywhere. Quick to take drinks order but the waitress went to sit with other people instead of taking food order so had to go downstairs to order. Food was lovely but service was shocking. Only 3 tables in total so wasn’t busy. Sadly won’t be going back.

I’ve dined in and ordered home. I must say delivery is super speedy! Literally within 10 minutes after placing my order it was delivered. Dine in is also a great experience. Clean restaurant, clean single use bathrooms and buildings beautiful. quick service, convenient location with parking nearby . The atmosphere is great especially during winter with all the lights. The owner I believe he may be? .. he is absolutely amazing , very welcoming, generous and kind, he makes time for his customers to ensure you’re enjoying your time there and the food. The English waiter is also attentive even if she does forget one or two items during busy periods ;) but she’s very hospitable and friendly. The food is tasty, I truly enjoy eating here And always recommend then. Great work ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Just ordered takeaway from here for the first time after a recommendation and it was honestly absolutely amazing!!! Had the mixed grill which was a massive portion and cooked beautifully. Lovely friendly staff as well, thank you guys will see you again soon :)

This place is simple, very Greek style, but the food is amazing....

Would say food was very basic, large portions. My food came out and was cold in the middle and the food was microwave blasted to make sure it was piping hot. I assume this was what had happened the first time round just not long enough. Not what you want when spending £15 on a main and makes you wonder how long it has been sat waiting for someone to order. Wont be going back and won't be recommending

Food was horrible and took so long to serve,when we told to the manager some of our complaints he got angry and instead of take responsibility for that mess he started yelling at the waitresses. Some time ago, a friend of mine worked there and she told me very bad things about the manager.

Used to be our favourite takeaway, and we don’t live local so we have to travel over 25 minutes to collect which we don’t mind, however tonight we went to collect our takeaway, and on arrival got told it was £20 minimum card payment, and our order was only £13. We didn’t want to order anything else to make it up to £20, why should we? Never had this problem before! This should clearly be advertised to customers that it’s £20 minimum payment, which I think is a complete joke by the way. Instead we went to Greek Village on Abbeydale Road, great customer service and not a minimum £20 card payment.

Very friendly staff, big portions and clean restaurant

We were the only people in the restaurant yet we had to ask for water multiple times, the starters took a very long time to arrive, despite being cold starters, and, when they did arrive, one was wrong. We asked how long the food would be after about 45 minutes of waiting and they apologised and said it was because they had a lot of takeaway orders. It felt like they value takeaways more than in-person guests. We would have ordered more drinks throughout the meal but the waitress was always downstairs. The food was OK. We enjoyed the pitta and the halloumi starter but the chicken souvlaki was overcooked and dry. We were looking forward to a Greek meal out and had heard good things about El Greco but they must have ordered takeaways. Very disappointing.

Worst dining experience ever, this should not be a restaurant, the person who owns it is only interested in his take away business, after our drinks arrived we both chose from the menu, after ten minutes the waitress told me they didn't have what I'd ordered so I said I'd have the same as my wife, after waiting a further half hour the man who owns place came up to us and said he couldn't do our order because he'd used all the chicken up on just eat take away orders and there were another 62 orders in front of us, we just looked at each other gobsmacked, he then said he could do us something else but we didn't want it, by this time we had had enough, we said we would leave and he asked us to pay for the drinks we had, he didn't offer a discount or anything, we were furious and it ended in a stand up argument, I paid for the drinks and then he said he could do without customers like us, nice

The most despicable place i have ever been in for a meal. Please do not give them your custom as they have no respect for the restaurant customers...all they care about is the take away custom. We booked the tableseveral days in advance so it wasn't as if we'd just walked in off the street. The menu was very limited, and even so they didn't have the meal my husband first requested. After placing our order and waiting half an hour, myself and my husband were told that there was not enough chicken for our meal as they had 60 take away orders to deal with. We were offered a different meal that we didn't want and when we said we didn't want that and that we would be leaving they demanded payment for our drinks that we had ordered to go with our meal. This was supposed to be my 68th birthday treat and I have never in my life experienced such awful customer service and such rudeness from the restaurant owner. I wouldn't want anyone else to have the same treatment so urge amyone considering this restaurant to take their custom elsewhere.My rating is actually NO STARS but it won't let me post this unless I give at least 1 star.

Restaurant is very well laid out upstairs. Food and drinks were very nice. I gave 4 stars because to me the food is more like takeaway food than authentic Greek food. But still it was nice.

After visiting here and ordering a few times for delivery, I have to say I will never eat here again. The quality of the food has gone downhill, missing items from delivery (didn't even bother to call and complain after the fiasco and language barrier I had encountered earlier in the evening). The blatant ignoring of delivery requests and trying to blame it on the customer. I would avoid this place, there are loads of better options in the area at better prices. This used to be a nice place to get decent food it seems they have got their feet under the table and stopped caring.

It was our first time here we ordered the mixed grill to sample a bit of everything, it was meant for 3 adults we shared it between 2 adults and 3 children and it was more than enough for us to share. All the food was really tasty and a good selection of meats and bread. Nice cosy restaurant too with friendly staff. Would recommend.

I thought this place was a spin off of a Mediterranean version of Fawlty Towers. It is really a sight to see. From the get go upon arriving we were told to go straight upstairs we’re we stood around after a few minutes as there wasn’t anyone up there to guide us or tell us if we were sat on a specific table. It was absolutely freezing as well, take your coats if going in winter. Ordering was really fun, I asked for a Mythos 3 times before the young lady understood me. I could understand if I asked for 1 of the other 2 choices of lager (bud & peroni) as one of those weren’t a native beverage. We ordered starters and mains successfully with no hiccups which I thought was a turning point of the evening…. I was wrong…. 3 starters arrived (there was 4 of us) we did question this and was told the chef forgot. Quite understandable as 2 fried meatballs must be very confusing with only a few people in the restaurant. Three people finished their starters before the last arrived. Same again with the mains, three arrived and the fourth took another 10 minutes. I’ve never eaten in such an establishment. Deserts are very limited (all of 2) but it is Greek so understandable. My wife just asked for 1 scoop of ice cream which caused quite a stir, again perfectly understandable as I can imagine this could be incredibly confusing as one scoop of vanilla ice cream wasn’t specified solely on the heavily complex saturated menu. We ordered coffees and one arrived wrong. We didn’t raise anything as we didn’t want to raise any more elements of confusion…. We just wanted to get the hell of there. We dreaded asking for bill as we thought it would again cause a stir. The bill came and we split the bill three ways. For each of the transactions the young lady at to keep running downstairs to get WiFi signal. I thought it was something from a hidden camera show. On a plus note the food is ok so I rated 2/5. We have no intentions of returning.

Shambolic. Arrived at 655pm. Got seated. Three seats short for our party of 19. Not a good start. Then proceeded to take 40 mins to even come and ask for our drinks. Then another 20 mins to come and order food. Then around 1 hour to 1 hour and half for the food to come. They had no kids fish fingers so decided - without asking - that the child would have a chicken kebab. The staff we were rude, obnoxious and quite comfortable to roll their eyes and answer back - felt actively part of the ‘service’. Quite possibly the worst place I’ve eaten - ever. The service was something akin to being treated like a third rate citizen. I’ve eaten in a few places, some of a questionable nature and background, around the world and the service has been second to none. Here I wouldn’t say we served we were treated as an inconvenience. It’s one redeeming feature - the food, delicious but the wait and service was vile. Won’t be returning won’t be recommending and won’t be using the take away service. Avoid.

Extremely quaint, cosy family run restaurant in Woodseats. Offers takeaway, dine in and a small bar with nice views on to the world passing by. The colours of the restaurant complement the place nicely. Friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere and lovely greek music to accompany the amazing food!

Ridiculous takeaway service ! Ordered meals for delivery to 2separate address told 30mins after an hour of waiting and 15 times trying to get threw to be told it won’t be coming as each order needs to be £15 (wasn’t told that when we ordered as would have made it up for each order) 1hr 30mins later told not gone threw! Appalling spoke to on phone! Real shame as been numerous times in restaurant and used for takeaway ! Won’t be using again!!! Don’t phone for takeaway service!!!!

First time from here ! Definitely not the last! best we've had outside Greece!

Food was good - but the "mixed grill" missed items and when I called to tell them, the manager was extremely rude and shouted down the phone at me, basically telling me I was wrong, when we have ordered this from here multiple times and know what to expect in the box. Also we asked for them to send without chips, with extra sauce, which they have done every time we have ordered before, but this time sent chips and no sauce. I asked why and I was told they never do that and I was wrong. Said they would send extra salad instead and collect the cold chips that we didn't want, but no one ever turned up. I made a complaint to Just Eat and was refunded thankfully. The manager is rude and quite nasty to customers. As a previously repeat customer, we will be ordering from anywhere else in future.

Really delicious food and friendly helpful guy on the phone - ordered for the first time tonight through an UberEats promo and would highly recommend! The ‘little shoes’ (stuffed aubergine) with lemon potatoes, garlic pitta and feta dip made a lovely and filling veggie meal. Reasonably priced and quick delivery too. Very pleased we found this!

We had take away for dinner today. I’ve ordered the baked pasta dish for my kids but they refused to eat it after couple of spoonful. After I’ve tried it I knew why - it smelt off, and it was way passed its best. I wanted to bring it to the restaurant to show but couldn’t be bothered. I didn’t expect to get freshly cooked dish , I’m aware how food serving system works ,but this is first time when we get dodgy smelling food.

We had gyros form here during lockdown and sat on a wall to eat them and they were lovely, very tasty. So we thought we’d go back for an eat in meal and were not disappointed! I had stuffed vine leaves and a mixed grill and my wife had pitta with El Greco dip and stuffed aubergines for a main course. Service was spot on and prompt, even though the waitress was working her socks off! The portions were generous, well cooked and very very tasty. A couple of Mythos beers each rounded off a lovely evening. We will return!

Very disappointing especially as it came highly recommended. The chef was away so the menu was limited, most traditional dishes were not available I feel this should have been made clear when the booking was taken because whoever was cooking that evening was not competent. We were a table of four, food came out at different times, some of it cold and mine was very difficult to eat it was so dry, I rang the next day to offer my comments and the manager was rude telling me I obviously didn't know what Greek food was like. Fortunately I do, having spent many holidays there over the last 35 years. He also said that they were very busy, I said with three tables occupied? No with take aways was his reply. So I suggest if you really want to eat from here get a takeaway.

Brilliant meal! Staff were attentive without being in your face.Food was very well prepared and plenty of it. Couldn't eat it all but they put in a take home box and kept it warm until we were ready to go home.Will recommend it too family and friends.Already planning for the next time.
