El Gaucho - South Kensington in Kensington and Chelsea

Visité este lugar muchas veces a lo largo de los años, algunos de los mejores bistecs que he probado en mi vida.Imagine mi decepción cuando estuve en el área de South Kensington recientemente y quería presentarle a un amigo la experiencia de El Gaucho y lamentablemente descubrí que ya no estaba allí. El restaurante ahora es un restaurante georgiano llamado SHOTY.

My husband and I have been to Gaucho three times now and all three times were disappointing - this will definitely be our last! We are extremely picky about restaurants and the Ivy is MUCH better and similar in value. The food at Gaucho is average at best and the prices are far too high for what you’re getting. Tonight we both had the fillet and it tasted strange. The spinach as a side was simply lame - it was basically heated up and served in a dish. The broccoli was also lamely served and the fries/chips with thyme were mushy. The whole meal cost my husband and and I £180. Had we gone to the Ivy or another similar style restaurant we would have paid something similar or less but would had been MUCH happier with the food and service!

El Gaucho is a very intimate Argentinian steak house, simple decor and simple menu but the food is excellent!

Pasamos decenas de restaurantes y cafés ocupados de South Kensington con gente haciendo cola afuera, pero decidimos probar El Gaucho cuando el menú parecía estar bien, así que bajamos las escaleras y entramos. . . No había nadie adentro y nos preguntamos si acababan de abrir por la noche. Nadie más llegó durante la hora que estuvimos allí tampoco y la atmósfera estaba completamente muerta. Las dos camareras se sentaron en una esquina y hablaron entre ellas y nos ignoraron. Mi hija pidió un filete de solomillo mediano y yo pedí un filete de lomo medio raro y llegaron con el mío cocido y mis hijas poco cocinadas. Dos de los postres estaban fuera del menú, así que pedí arroz con leche. Esto llegó frío con una oblea suave y rancia y era claramente de una lata. Se lo mencioné a la camarera que nos miró y dijo que el chef lo había cocinado (¿quizás también lo había enfriado en la nevera?). Tal vez tuvimos una mala noche y tal vez las cosas realmente se llenen más tarde, pero no volveré.

Me encanta ser un restaurante argentino. . . . Malbec, empanadas, filetes a la parrilla por un maestro experto en parija. Vimos el letrero y dijimos que teníamos que volver cuando estuvieran abiertos. Las empanadas eran excelentes. Filete. . . no tanto. El vino era muy bueno. Selección de cerveza . . no tanto. El personal fue bueno. Dale un sólido de tres estrellas.

Walking back to my hotel I stop to look at a menu board. I was planning to get a pub burger but this held more promise. Down the steep stairs I went to a small underground room. Warm and inviting I chise the Super Guacho burger (£12.05) this included fries. Wow..delicious well cooked beef pattie and a glass of Malbec (£5.90) was just great. Only criticism was that the only red offered was Malbec. The burger called out for a lighter red. A pleasant surprise and recommended as a huge improvement on pub burgers

Visited El Gaucho for early dinner last night. We spent all day in London and after visiting the Natural History museum stopped for tea. The place is only small and downstairs from the front street but has a bit of atmosphere and is lovely. I had the Churassco 14oz Rump Steak, cooked to perfection. The Argentinian sauce that comes with the steak is lovely. Remember to order your sides though as when we got our food it was just a piece of steak on a plate - had to then order some fries. Very tasty, very nice and also reasonably priced.

Went to El Gaucho. It’s a bit hard to find. The sign is rather small and the restaurant is downstairs but it is well worth looking for it. Once inside the menu is very straight forward and authentic Argentinian. They import their meat from Argentina which explains the delicious flavor. I had the fillet and at 29 pounds it is an excellent value.

Fuimos alentados por la crítica favorable encontrada en TripAdvisor, que no se ajusta en nada a la realidad.Es un lugar incómodo, a nivel subsuelo, sin ventanas, muy chico, las mesas amontonadas. Empezamos con una provoleta incomible, que parecía de plástico. Luego un asado malo y una brocheta de carne mala. Es justo decir que la atención fue correcta. Pero en definitiva una pésima experiencia en un lugar no recomendable.

Steak was juicy and flavorful, wine was good but Yorkshire puddings were what impressed us the most! Couldn’t have enough of them. Yum!

A place were the service is quite standard, nothing particular.The food, displayed in several pictures make your mouth watering, but when the food arrives is when the disappointment arrives too.The actual food does not resemble to the pictures at all, the quality of the food was completely standard (but the prices were not standard) and certain plates, like the empanadas were executed in a terrible way.This restaurant has a great potential if they would make it right, as meat lovers like us do know what we are looking for, and this place was not able to deliver according to their advertisement and our expectations.Avoid a nasty surprise

Und ein bisschen versteckt, aber seit 1990 nach eigener Aussage 1. Argentinisches steakhouse in London. Einfache, aber zweckmäßige Einrichtung. Netter Service und das Fleisch echt klasse. Recht ordentlich groß, aber auch die baby Portionen so wie gewünscht. Wein und Bier nur aus Spanien, Wasser aus Italien.

We ate salads as starters (mixed and verde) which were nothing special. One had the burger with everything - it was lacking any real taste and the other had BBQ ribs which were really disappointing. Meat wasn’t properly cooked and it didn’t really taste anything. A bit like watered red wine. They failed this time and badly.

Quite plain experience, nothing special .Chorizo criollo was good and tasty. Churrasco completo wasn’t that great. Wanted churros but was out of stock so was extra disappointed.

Buono e bello. Ristorante argentino in un basement di Kensington (2 minuti dalla tube station).

Ottimo posto per chi è amante della cucina Argentina.

Realmente tengo que dejar de ir a restaurantes recomendados por otras personas. El Gaucho no fue tan malo como el último lugar en el que me convencieron para no juzgar (Guiseppe en el Puente de Londres), pero carecía del entusiasmo y la emoción que esperaba de la comida argentina. Mi primo y yo fuimos allí para una cena de recuperación por recomendación de su hermano. Teníamos empanadas perfectamente decentes para empezar y pedimos chorizo a la parrilla. Para 4 . 50 obtuvimos una salchicha, servida entera, en un plato sin guarnición ni acompañamiento. Hubiera sido mucho mejor dividido en dos a lo largo antes de ser asado. Era muy ajos, pero no particularmente picante. .

Somos argentinos, dos vivimos en Londres y llegamos a este lugar sin recomendación previa. Terminó siendo una grata sorpresa. Pedimos milanesa y tira de asado, la calidad buenísima y el sabor de la misma calidad que se encuentra en Argentina. Las empanadas muy buenas también. Vi qué hay críticas malas del lugar pero nuestra experiencia fue excelente (y fuimos a varios sitios argentinos acá en Londres). Si alguien quiere la experiencia de comida argentina, este lugar según nuestra experiencia, es totalmente recomendable!

Habíamos estado en El Gaucho hace unos cuatro años. Solemos ir a Londres todos los otoños y esta vez nos alojamos cerca del restaurante y nos acordamos. La primera vez que fuimos repetimos porque nos pareció muy buena calidad precio. Esta vez sin embargo, ya nada más entrar, el sexto sentido te dice que algo ha cambiado. Poca gente cuando antes siempre estaba lleno, los empleados parecían sacados de un concierto de rock con un toque gótico... bueno, eso tampoco tiene importancia, pero todo raro....Pedimos una ensalada y estaba incomible, era como sacada de una bolsa con un poco de queso parmesano por encima, con poca armonía, y encima rancio (el queso)o.Un horror!!! La carne, no era carne, era carne cocida chamuscada. Te traen un enorme tarro de ketchup y otro de mostaza, peor que en el burguer king. En definitiva, no probamos bocado. Pagamos y nos fuimos. Pregunté si habían cambiado de dueño y me dijeron que no. Entonces lo que vi con claridad es que habían cambiado de cocinero. Una pena porque antes estaba bien.

Super repas en famille , la viande et les accompagnements sont très bons. Pensez a demander une cuisson en dessous. Le vin était aussi très bon. Je recommande !!

Dans le très agréable et huppé de South Kensington, ce restaurant propose des viandes de qualité, bien cuites. J’ai pris un tendre bife de lomo, avec d’excellentes frites et des épinards légers et savoureux, le tout accompagné d’un correct pichet de merlot argentin.

Esta fue una de las mejores comidas de mi hija y yo pasamos en Londres. Es un restaurante escondido y una vez que s bajar el ambiente es precioso. Conseguimos el maíz a la parrilla en la cob para nuestro aperitivo y estaba delicioso. Ambos tuvimos el especial que consistía de dos de los mejores filetes cocineros que hemos comido. Mi carne vinieron con una ensalada fresca fresco y mi hija eligió las fichas para ir con ella. Su sangría era de primera categoría. Nuestra camarera era increíble y el propietario salió para asegurarse de que estuviéramos contentos. Elija este encantador restaurante y no te decepcionará.

Vi åkte buss på fel håll hoppar av går några meter och hittar restaurangen som visar WC-Semi och hade kött! 10 poäng för oss. Inte världens bästa kök men helt ok. Trevlig och uppmärksam personal. Prisvärt och gemytligt, som en kvarterskrog!

Locale molto carino e accogliente, il poster di Maradona all' entrata davvero top!!!!

Argentinean restaurant very nice, small but particular and very welcoming. I tried an excelent chorizo and after I took a grilled chicken with baked potato ... really good!

This Argentinian steak house provided excellent quality meat and plenty of it at a price which was far more competitive that other steak houses. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food well worth the visit.

Malbec was great, the steak was good. Service pretty slow. I do not think I will come back to this place. Sorry.

Steaks preparation time is about 30 minutes, but it's okay. Nice place, friendly staff. Looks like people find a good tasty.

Excelente calidad y precio. Buen servicio y trato. Pedimos hamburguesas y sirloin, acompañadas de una gran porción de chips. Delicioso!!!

We had dinner at this Argentinian place in south kensighton, well, I should have better stayed at home.

What a fantastic little place, everything was perfect, steaks highly recommended as are the empanadas, all freshly cooked!

Stumbled across this Argentinian restaurant..on Old Brompton Road a stones throw from South Kensington Tube .

Six of us turned up without reservations at around 8.00pm on a Saturday. The place was quite busy but the helpful staff found a good spot for us. We ordered a range of food, ranging from salads to one of their burgers and a chicken dish. Everyone was happy with the food and with the service. The drinks are quite expensive; but standard for this part of London. The only thing to warn about is that you'd better have a liking for Argentine popular music of the three-or-four-chord, nasally singing kind. I hate it; but then I don't like piped music of any kind. But I suppose it's part of the characterful atmosphere which, overall, I liked very much. Good staff!

ci risiamo ogni volta che vado a Londra mi ostino ad andare in questi ristoranti tipici da metropoli global. location non male vista su tower bridge per il resto nulla da segnalare servizio lento e cibo assolutamente nella norma (qui argentino ma lo stesso vale per messicano brasiliano giapponese cinese francese e ahimè italiano)

Only 2 out of 6 people had excellent steaks. The rest were chewy. Definitly not what we had expected being Argentinian steaks. When we told the waiter her answer was “well thats just how the meat is”. Also she did not want to recommend a side dish (?!).

It was an average experience for us, we were mostly let down by service as food was ok, yet nothing special. Then restaurant was not so busy and we felt we were ignored as had to ask for second round of drinks, salt/pepper etc. Might give it another go on a busier day

Primera vez en este restaurante, se basa en una bodega, así que no es accesible a todos. Había que esperar un poco para nuestra orden puede ser tomada como personal tanto en los teléfonos. Una vez que se sirven comidas llegamos era absolutamente delicioso. El filete que tenía era chuletón y fue cocinado a la perfección, también dieron una generosa ayuda de verduras como acompañamiento. No hubo quejas en nuestra mesa sobre la red.

Fuimos allí para el almuerzo los domingos. La carne estaba muy buena y las hamburguesas parecía fantástico (cocinado medianos) Es un lugar pequeño, así que se aconseja reservar. Me gustaría volver a probar los entrantes

This restaurant is down some stairs and is pretty much in a basement setting. This adds to the atmosphere and character of the place. The waitress was friendly and showed us to a table. We ate early so it wasn't busy. Good choice of steaks and burgers on the menu. I had an El Caballo burger which came with two fried eggs and bacon and a basket of French fries. The beef was excellent and there was a lot of it. The only slight negative, we had to wait quite a while for the food (four burgers) and mine came first and the rest about five minutes later. Very reasonably priced for London. Three burgers, three glasses of wine and a coke...£70. Would go back again.

Ska man ha en bra och god köttbit är detta garanterat bra men inte bäst. Mycket hög service nivå och trevlig personal.

Locale caratteristico, e poco in vista (resta interrato) ma il gestore è molto gentile e cordiale, parla anche molto bene l'italiano oltre che inglese e spagnolo.

My son is to blame for this great little find. Service good, food the best we had in 3 days in London snd this was just around the corner from the hotel

Just walking through South Kensington looking for somewhere for dinner. Very, very pleased that we chose here.

We visited before a show mid week. Service was average but we were slightly disappointed with food. The steak wasn't cooked as ordered which caused a small delay and slightly backtracked us. The mistake was acknowledged, yet we had to rush. I might give it another chance as the menu looked promising.

Hizo un paseo en una noche de sábado y el lugar no estaba muy lleno. El servicio era muy amable y el menú es sencillo y a buen precio. Las carnes eran enormes y perfectamente hecho, acompañamiento de espárragos también era perfecta. En general, una gran experiencia.

We came here after the Royal Albert Hall sometime around 6pm, small compact cosy restaurant specialising in Argentinian beef / steaks. There was 4 of us all opted for different meats. While we waited we got the starters of house special cheese and black pudding / sausage which the 2 starters easily shared between the 4 of us and really nice. The 4 mains consisted of ribs / sirloin / rump and ribeye. All apart one came out first class. The ribeye which my wife opted for rare to medium was a fat slab of a cut and cooked how she wanted it but the actual cut of meat was a disaster couldn’t cut through it and was disgustingly chewy full of fat. My wife called the waitress over who was apologetic and offered to get another one or something different but we had all finished so my wife declined. Give them the due without asking they did take it off the bill was just a shame one of our party couldn’t eat but again can’t blame the restaurant for a rogue bad cut of meat and they did commit to customer service so I would recommend this restaurant and we would eat here again

Went here as a very last minute booking on a Saturday night - food was absolutely incredible (best beef ribs I've ever had!) alongside reasonably priced delicious red wine and great attention from the staff. Highly recommend.

Era una giornata fredda e guardando i prezzi dei pub o degli altri locali ci siamo spaventati. Dopo un po’ vediamo questo locale e dopo una piccola rampa di scale davanti a noi si apre un locale tipico argentino. Il proprietario ci ha coccolato infatti siccome avevamo freddo ci ha spostato sotto la stufetta, siccome avevamo fame ci ha fatto aspettare con pane burro e un guazzetto di olio, cipolla e peperoni. L’hamburger era di carne argentina servito con abbondanti patatine e con un empanadas. Miglior posto a Londra sul puto di vista prezzo qualità.VENITE QUI E NON IN UNA STUPIDA CATENA DI HAMBURGER

Surpreendi-me com a qualidade da carne. Há opção do corte um pouco menor, pois geralmente mulheres comem menos. A batata é deliciosa e os legumes, como o aspargo, servidos como entrada também. Faça reserva, mesmo em dias de semana.

Cameriera con poca voglia di lavorare, titolare con poco spirito di ospitalità. Cibo mediocre. senza aspettative.

Visited with family, made very welcome, food and service was fantastic. Very good prices in all dishes, wine list was good and reasonably priced.

It seems a shame that a restaurant with such wonderful food should be spoiled by service that is only mediocre. For an appetiser I ordered the chopped chicken livers, which were absolutely delicious. They were supposed to be served with some kind of bread so that the chicken livers could be spread on it and when the dish came it did not have anything to put the chicken livers on. When I brought this to the waiters attention, he immediately acquiesced and went to get the bread. This took more than 10 minutes because he then proceeded to take the order from another table and while the bread was sitting on the counter, which I saw since I was sitting right near the kitchen, I eventually asked someone working in the kitchen if that was for me and when he said yes he brought it to the table and not the waiter. The waiter who was a very charming young man never apologised for this and just proceeded to service the rest of the meal. I need to also mention that during the course of the dinner I noticed that other clients were being shown a platter on which all the kinds of beef were displayed. My waiter never showed us the meat and had he done so possibly I would not have ordered the ribeye which though tasty was very very fatty. I need to also mention that the busboy was so much more attentive than the waiter who during the course of the evening never stopped running around the restaurant and I feel he maybe had too many tables to deal with although at the time we had dinner the restaurant was virtually empty. Also walking around the dining room constantly was the maitre d' who I feel should have been more attentive to what was going on in the restaurant. As I said before it seems a shame that a restaurant which is quite pricey and with very good food is not on top of its wait staff and making sure that its clients are given A plus service.

The ambiance was cozy, warm, and talkable. The service was friendly, efficient, and honest. The filet I had, cooked charred rare to perfection, was excellent as was the mustard served with it. The Malbec was worth revisiting, and fit the cuisine as it should.Don't understand the complaints I read.

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times now and every time the food has been amazing. Really good and juicy sirloin steaks, and also fries and the tomato salad are really nice. Big portions too, good for sharing! I would highly recommend this place. I will definitely keep going there.

I visit this restaurant a few times a year and never disappoints me! Excellent home made traditional food.Every time I go there, the food is excellent and makes it worth travelling over an hour just to eat there.The empanadas were lovely, the milanesa napolitana was a success but we didn't get to the pudding because we where so full! Portions are big but cannot complaint. Loved it. Met the owner also who was very warm and friendly.

We had the spicy chorizo to start which was delicious with a touch of mustard & the mixed pepper dip.We followed with the fillet steak, which just melted in our mouths. Chargrilled to perfection!We finished with Churros con chocolate, very naughty, but absolutely gorgeous.Will certainly call in again when in the area.

I have travelled to Argintina a few times in my life and had the most amazing food experiences when it came to enjoying its legendary grill delicacies... I was staying this week-end in South Kensington in London with my partner. We said why not enjoy a nice juicy Argentinian style steak.... what a disappointment!! The meat was very average and the taste worst than how I would have cooked a steak on my BBQ at home!!

This basement restaurant is a bit cramped, and the waitresses - whilst not rude - come across as very indifferent. The place prides itself on its steaks. We opted for the sirloin and fillet which were thick-cut and nicely cooked, but ultimately lacked any real depth in flavour. We expected more.

I went for dinner with my fiancé and future brother and sister in law last Friday using the Groupon vouchers and I have to say it was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had!When the starters arrived, they were all thrown on the table on the same plate. Two of us had the empanadas which were awful, they tasted like they had been microwaved! My fiancé had the black pudding which he described as a soggy mousse texture……The ribeye steak I had was the chewiest and tasteless piece of meat I’ve ever had and when I asked the waitress if it was actually a sirloin, the response was delivered very rudely.The other steaks on the table were marginally better but still pretty awful.The icing on the cake was I was happily tucking into my spinach, having sent the ribeye back and found some plastic/cling film in it.So all in all, rude staff, terrible food and a bit of a dingy restaurant.

The place is small and doesn't have nothing especial. The restaurant is so noisy. The waiters are Russian women and they are not very kind but never rude. The meat is really good, and the price normal for the area of London where we are.

Visited here last night on a groupon voucher. Staff were excellent. Very small but quirky restaurant. Steak was wonderful and such good value for money with groupon. Highly recommend and the full menu looked super. If your a steak lover well worth a visit. House red wine was really good as well and included in the offer. Brushetta free of charge to start as well which is an added bonus. Also managed to park on the high street. Would highly recommend and most certainly be back even to pay full price.

The menu is good, but we found that the food had a bit too much salt. All of the meats were very well cooked, no salads or greens though - should have checked the menu before ordering as the waiter forgot to ask about sides.We had a good night and may return.

We got a voucher for the dinner. We completely enjoyed it. Meal was delicious. However, I think it is a bit overpriced. Staff was friendly but didn’t pay enough attention to us. Because we had the voucher they didn’t offer us anything else. I think that real negative point is that you can very easily missed it, it is almost invisible from the street, so we passed the restaurant couple of times before we found it.

Was so excited to try this place - but so disappointed. The staff are some of the rudest in London, having messed up our order, their response was simply to tell us we got what we ordered. The food that did come was mediocre but carried a premium price tag. Avoid.

We had the Classic Burger & Gaucho Salad. These were outstanding, with good portions & fresh ingredients. Perfect. Both have good portions too & were good value, especially given the expensive area of Kensington & London in general.Besides this, we were served by sweet, good humoured ladies, that did not take themselves too seriously, and were quite hospitable, and funny, and friendly. I felt welcome.Last of all, we had delicious coffee, and the "Churros" dessert, which comes with hot chocolate. That was delightful too. It was 30 quid well spent.Sorry we didn't buy any wine, but we are "Teetotallers" :) :p

We travelled through to London for the day and booked with the restaurant for a pre-theatre dinner. Menu choice was good: 3 choices for each course. We both picked the steak for mains - fantastic value for money, great flavour and very authentic to argentine style. We'd like to commend our waiter Andreas for his great service: he was friendly and chatted with us, giving tips on the menu and our London travel. When he learned it was hubbys birthday he organised a free glass of bubbles on the house and arranged for the kitchen to decorate the dessert plates too. He went the extra mile and we really appreciated that - we'll definitely be back and would recommend Goucho to others!

We were looking for somewhere nice to eat on South Ken and walked passed this basement restaurant by accident. We got very excited as we are great fans of Argentinian beer and couldn't wait to have some unexpectedly. However, we must have been on an off day, as our experience wasn't like the other recent reviews I have read. The waiter was very chatty and friendly, but once he had left, I had trouble getting anybody's attention and had to ask the kitchen staff for help. And the food was a huge disappointment. My friend's pork fillet was very fatty and tough and I found it difficult to believe my burger was made from Pampas cattle (we had specifically checked where the beef had come from) - full of gristle and tasteless. The extras - chips etc. were edible and average. It had the feel of a family run small restaurant, but just didn't feel as if the potential had been realised.

Beautiful place in a beautiful spot with one of the friendliest staff that you would ever meet.They treated me and the Mrs like VIP.Highly recommend that you try this place. The food is great in taste and value for money!!!

Nous avons dégusté des ribs de boeuf avec des frites accompagnés de sauces relevées.Nous avons pris un malbec d Argentine.Bon moment. Notamment avec la serveuse dont la ressemblance avec la chanteuse des Shocking blues est évidente. Mais si la viande etait très bien cuite, elle etait neanmoins un peu dure et les frites etaient décongelées. Ambiance extrêmement bruyante mais excellent moment.

Les viandes sont meilleures les unes que les autres, le cadre est sympa et le service de qualité. Superbe carte des vins.

Trovandomi in vacanza a Londra, la prima sera mi sono trovato vicino alla stazione di South Kensington. Vista l'ora e la presenza di tanti ristoranti, ho deciso di sceglierne uno per la cena. Attraverso TripAdvisor (che normalmente dà delle ottime indicazioni) ho scelto il ristorante El Gaucho, confidando di poter mangiare dell'ottima carne!Visti gli ottimi giudizi su TripAdvisor non mi sono fatto scoraggiare dal fatto che il locale fosse abbastanza angusto e poco illuminato (per accedervi occorre scendere delle scale piuttosto scomode poiché è posizionato al di sotto del piano stradale). Abbiamo ordinato un piatto di costine di maiale, del pollo arrosto e degli hamburger per le mie due bambine. La qualità del cibo è stata molto scarsa. In particolare il pollo era bruciato e gli hamburger assolutamente immangiabili e sgradevoli, poiché estremamente piccanti (anche per me che sono abituato a mangiare cibo molto speziato nei ristoranti orientali), specialmente pensando che erano cucinati per delle bambine!!!Alla fine ho pagato più di 80 sterline, assolutamente troppo per la scarsissima qualità del cibo!Sconsiglio vivamente di andare in un simile locale. In emergenza è di gran lunga meglio mangiare in un qualsiasi Mc Donald dove perlomeno si sa in anticipo cosa si mangerà e per un prezzo di molto inferiore!

If you like steaks and burgers then this is your place! Like falling down a rabbit hole and finding South America. Well priced and beautiful food- just wish I lived closer!

Great steaks. All three of our kids enjoyed their meals, as did the adults. The restaurant is close to the South Kensington tube station.

we have this retuarant at home so we were sure it was good meat. Have the convierge booked for us and we were eraly, soon the place were crowded. The steak was never disappointed, Love this place very much.

Hyggelig liten restaurant med gode og spennende retter. Kjøttet er godt grillet, mørt og saftig. Restauranten ligger i en kjeller i nærheten av South Kensington station og kan være litt vanskelig å få øye på. Hyggelig betjening og en annerledes spiseopplevelse enn hos kjedene.

We are happy customers when we visit London. We usually have the steak but this time I tried the chicken milanesa Neapolitan style with cheese, ham and tomato. It was excellent. We always try a new Malbec and always enjoy our meal. Highly recommend.

This is a quaint little place that feels really authentic but the food is outstanding. Their steaks are second to none and the staff are so accommodating and welcoming it makes the experience even better.

First, let me start by saying I am an American who loves Argentinian beef. Fell in love with it on my ski trips to Patagonia. In the states, we do not import Argentinian beef. Don't be fooled by all those Argentinian steak houses in the states, they are all US beef. Now, this restaurant serves Argentinian beef. Make sure you get either the sirloin or the rib-eye. Do not get the rump. Rump is a skinny piece of beef, and you will not get the full "irony" taste of the Argentinian beef. I also urge you to get your steaks cooked rare to medium rare at the most, and get it with the work, ie. with onions, bacon and a fried egg on top of the steak. Delicious. As far as the starters, go with the empanada. This was fabulously moist and juicy in a very nice and crunchy pie crust. Don't forget to order the churros for dessert. Excellent churros here.Final suggestion here, Rutini malbecs with your dinner. I think this winery produces some of the best wines in Argentina.Bit tough to find in South Kensington, but damn worth it.

Buscando un restaurante cerca de los museos, nos encontramos este, tipo argentino. Esta en un bajo, pero esta muy bien. La comida abundante y muy rica, y barata para lo que es londres. Las empanadas riquisimas.

Go down the stairs and enter this small restaurant, the friendly professional staff will sit you immediately and will help in your choice. everything was worth to taste, all in all a very good experience and the meat, of course, was excellent.

Access down a steep flight of stairs - blink and you miss it from the street - into a small restaurant. Décor and furniture quite basic. Looked clean though. No issues there.Very reasonably priced and the service was great. Imported Quilmes - lovely.The steak was decent enough but the kitchen could really do with serving proper chips rather than frozen French fries...that was slightly disappointing.I wouldn't rush back but could recommend it if you're looking for something quick and inexpensive.

We ate lunch here prior to going to a show at the Royal Albert Hall. This eatery is really hidden away - it is within a stone's throw of South Kensington Underground Station, but doesn't get the crowds that most other eateries there get. The reason: Its hidden away in a basement! The restaurant seats around 30 maximum and is evenings-only except for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. On those days they open at 13:00 for lunches. There's no step-free access due to the basement location, so you need to be able to use the stairway to sample the wares on offer here.When we visited it was not too busy and a small but steady number of diners came in during our meal. The proprietor is charming and nothing is too much trouble for him.The theme of the restaurant is Argentina and the walls are adorned with pictures of Tango dancers along with related themes. Spanish is spoken as well as English, and during our visit there were a couple of Spanish-speaking parties dining there who felt really at home. The menu is meat-based and the portions are gargantuan - I chose a burger with extras and only just managed to eat all of it. We will visit here again when in the area - can recommend!

I would like to say that this was a review of a visit to the restaurant but after booking it as a treat for my wife on New Year's Eve we arrived in London after travelling for 1.5 hours to find it shut. I made a complaint to Open Table as they had confirmed the booking, twice, but they wanted to leave the blame with El Gaucho for not telling them. I wrote directly to the Director of the company that runs both restaurants but he could not be bothered to reply. Open Table's apology amounted to making my points up to enough for £20 off my next booking. Very disappointing all round.

I had a great dinner at El Gaucho. I had the Milanesa with eggs and chips and I think a whole bunch of other stuff. The prices were reasonable for an Argentine steakhouse and you get a ton of food. If I’m in the South Kensington area again, I would definitely go back here.

Das "El Gaucho" (als Wochenend-Tourist) zu finden, ist gar nicht so einfach, ist aber ein Glücksfall. Das kleine Kellerlokal hat einen unscheinbaren Eingang (aufälligstes Merkmal: Poster von Diego Maradonna als Zigarre rauchender Che Guevara Verschnitt im Fenster) neben einer Bar, die Pippa Midleton wohl besucht / besucht hat. Der "Abstieg" in den Keller aber lohnt sich! Ich denke und hoffe, dass die Fleischqualität diejenige ist, die im Original in Argentinien präsentiert wird. Beim Gedanken an die Chirizzo Criollo und die Empanadas (Huhn, Spinat) bekomme ich gleich wieder Hunger (Vorspeisen am besten teilen, denn sonst ist für den Hauptgang kein Platz). Das Filet Steak und der Burger - einfach perfekt und mehr als ausreichend für den grossen Hunger. Lediglich die enormen Beef Spare Ribs hätten etwas früher vom Grill gekonnt. Wer Fleisch mag, der ist hier allerbestens bedient!
