The food and service were commendable, even surpassing my expectations. Given that West African cuisine remains unfamiliar to many, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and authenticity of the dishes. Having grown up with this type of food, I can confidently say that it was well-prepared and flavorful. However, the atmosphere could benefit from some enhancements. Investing in the restaurant's aesthetics and overall presentation would significantly elevate the dining experience. There is much to appreciate here, along with abundant potential for growth and improvement. Overall, I’m glad I chose to dine here. It was a rewarding experience. While the prices might be daunting for some, the rarity of encountering genuine African cuisine makes this a unique opportunity worth embracing. Yours sincerely An Itsekiri boy :-)

I just got my order from Uber eats. The food is too bad. Fried rice, plantains and chicken. It’s not tasty and too much vegetable oil in the rice. Chicken was tasteless. Also, very small portion. You need to do better.

The food prices is a rip off! Way too expensive! I’m all for supporting a small business but it doesn’t mean you can rip people off with these overpriced prices! You want us to support your business and you are not supporting families in the same economic situation that wants to support your businesse. Apart from that the food is very tasty

I wish I’d read the reviews here before I ordered a Deliveroo from this restaurant. It’s clearly a restaurant that does a good job for sit-in customers but terrible for delivery…..and doesn’t act on continued criticism in reviews. We had a really disappointing meal via Deliveroo last night. Firstly, as mentioned here before, really small portions. And the food was disappointing too. I know goat is boney but my small portion was all bone and gristle. I got a thimble full of meat! And the yam - bland and tasteless. Restaurant owner, if you’re reading this, pay attention pls! Sort out the delivery side of your business!

I was alarmed by the man who took my call on Wednesday 13/09/2023. Just because I suggested consistency in the use of containers, bearing in mind the high price of “OHA” soup. He became agitated and dismissive, trying to silenced me by claiming he is taking orders and was not interested in my opinion and basically said I should go elsewhere, as he had no time for argument. He later said there is no “OHA” soup and cut me off. The same arrogance that stops us from developing our nation. I expected him to say bring the containers, rather he dismissed me. What an impunity. Though the price is overpriced, I have no problem paying hence everything is expensive I do understand the need for high prices, but there is no need for such unreasonable behaviour.

This is probably the second time this restaurant has scammed me out of takeaway. Absolute joke proportions that they think they can get away with because it's via delivery, so no one will complain or have the energy to drive to the restaurant asking about it. I ordered a soup and when it arrived it was barely filled 1/8th of the way and had a measly chicken leg. I called to complain and they gave a poor response about the soup being portioned out. Yes, a portion--a beggar's portion for nearly £20. On top of that, it didn't even bother to taste good. They also conveniently left out my Deliveroo reciept so that I wouldn't have one to lodge my compliant. Was at one point considering them for office catering-- will never cross my mind again. Highly do NOT recommend and tell all your friends.

We have visited Eko Kitchen on numerous occasions but I never had time to actually post a review. This is a nice family-owned restaurant in central Cambridge, serving traditional Nigerian cuisine. Actually the best place to eat African food in Cambridge. The food is always freshly made, with great attention to taste and quality of the ingredients. Owners are very friendly, always smiling, positive and accommodating. If you want authentic jollof rice, egusi, ayamase, efo riro & much more - highly recommend Eko kitchen. My friend was so grateful and humbled. The food was also delightful! I love their red stew and white rice. When I'm missing my soul food from the United States, I come here for the next best thing. Jollof Rice was great, with fried plantain and we each had with goat meat and chicken which tasted very good and with just the right amount of pepper. Tucked away in the beautiful Cambridge, this Nigerian restaurant caters for all groups of people from Nigerian to Caucasian and back 😁 Visited yesterday with family and friends and we had a nice time, quite comfortable seating area not spectacular. They had the social distancing guidelines in place, best to place your order like 45mins before arrival (this reduces the waiting time). Also uses deliveroo service. The peppersoup was fantastic, they use less salt and spice levels are highly controlled to your specifications which is good because you can then increase this to suit you 😊 apparently the 'suya' is a must-have The food was good (not the best that I have had) and quantity was good for the pricing, wide variety of options to choose from including the drinks and the owners are a very pleasant couple. Could be abit tidier but still clean so no issues. Location is not a problem as long as you use a sat nav however parking can be an issue as no designated spot. There is a toilet available but again quite small, looks like it serves dual purpose of both storage area and restroom. Overall, would recommend to try it out 👍🏼

I nearly cry writing this, sooo disappointed that my traditional food is been treated like this... I ordered Efo Riro and pounded yam because I was hungry, plus jollof rice set for my daughter whom I was encouraging to eat African food, I was charged £22something.. Firstly when I saw the food I was telling my daughter that I am sure my Efo Riro has to be in somewhere else, until I found that whatever they put in that tiny plastic plate is Efo Riro that I was charged £13 for. When we opened it, the Efo potion was even at the bottom of the plate and looked Horrible.. I wouldn’t have even minded cos we were hungry if it taste nice.. I tried to eat but the taste was just too horrible and extremely salty.. I nearly cried when my daughter too had to stop eating her jollof rice because of salt... (Health reason. The Efo tasted sour and extremely salt... Despite we were hungry we couldn’t eat them and my daughter just went to bed hungry and disappointed.. and I am just sitting here not knowing what to do cos we’ve been ripped off and I can still taste them in my mouth... Come on guys... you might be the only one in Cambridge but you can do better than this.. I am soo pained...

Then we our main was yam porridge, and other two dishes whose name I can't really recall. Everything was fantastic and we loved the moin-moin with the sauce, in particular. Really delicious food that’s incredibly tasty and filled with flavour. They offer their own delivery service separate from Deliveroo that’s much better as well. Though it is better to order from them before 7:30pm as ordering later means you are sometimes left with the last prepared food of the day. For example one order I placed quite late resulted in very hard puff-puff that I could not even bite into and ended up having to throw it out as a result. But overall great food and service. We went here as the reviews were good and I wanted to support my people but I was very disappointed to be honest. The portions were so small, we had to go McDonald's after as we were all still very hungry. Over £60 for 2 adults and 3 small children. Although the fish was nice and the jollof rice was ok, the chicken meal was a joke. £9 for one drumstick and rice!? Come on guys, you need to make the portion size much bigger and not serve a drumstick as a main meal. I live in London, it should be much cheaper up there. Very disappointing!

Dropped in for lunch as I was working around the corner and fancied trying this place. Friendly reception, OK decor but I sat outside. I was the only customer at the time so lacked atmosphere, perhaps a sign, but took that to be my late lunch and it's a little off the beaten track. Asked for what they recommended and ended up with the Jollof and took a glass bottle of Coke Zero. A monochrome, plate of food didn't get me salivating but was tasty enough and had a decent level of spice and I guess was a little different. The sole chicken drumstick covered in a pepper sauce was well cooked...as in bordering on dry but edible. I enjoyed the plantain and the mountain of rice. Once I received the bill of £9 I was a little shocked and then on reflection disappointed. The value for money is non-existent given the ONE chicken drumstick half a banana and some rice in a home cooked style. Frankly, I feel we cook better meals at home. Sadly for this reason I won't be back for fear of feeling a bit ripped off again. Shame.

First off, the owner was extremely courteous and hospitable to our large group. She took the time to walk us through the menu and gave excellent recommendations for food. The level of service and kindness was second to none.

Fascinating and incredibly unique African food in Cambridge. The menu can be a little unclear but the staff are very friendly and happy to help. Would definitively recommend if you've never tried African / Nigerian food before.

I love the okro soup and pounded yam served at Eko Kitchen. Very much home away from home. The service is impeccable ❤

Very good location and comfortable room. However, the service at the restaurant leaves much room for improvement. The waiters are students with basic building and one day there was no bread, another there was no butter, another there was no gas and the kitchen could not work, etc... the service was just unprofessional. I will never lodge in this hotel again. Besides, it is very expensive for what you get.
