EKC Broadstairs College in Thanet

I would not recommend this college to anyone looking for a well-structured and properly delivered course. I completed the Computing T Level course, and it was nothing like what was advertised. Lecturers frequently failed to turn up, leaving students without guidance. The work experience component was supposed to be 315 hours, yet we were only given three weeks to complete it, forcing us to rush through it with little benefit. The T Level exam was cancelled multiple times due to poor planning, as the college failed to check the system before exam day. Even worse, the same issue caused the exam to be cancelled again the following year. This level of disorganization is unacceptable. A major part of the course involved coding, yet we were not taught this aspect at all. This had a significant impact on our grades, and many students ended up failing because of the college’s negligence. Most lecturers did their best with the limited resources they had, but there was no structure or clear planning in place. The only positive was that the staff were friendly, but they were far too laid-back. This lack of discipline led to students losing focus, with some skipping sessions altogether. Overall, this college failed to deliver on its promises, and I feel like my time was completely wasted.

I recently finished 3 years doing a poorly run IT course. I felt that lecturers expected students to know everything. On some days the lecturers were late or wouldn't turn up at all. The best part of the day would be going to the fish and chip shop for lunch. I was truly shocked when they said that we had to get 315 hours of work experience done in like 4 or 6 weeks and there is actually more of a chance to communicate with a ghost than anyone at the college.

I recently completed the T Level Computing course (Digital Production, Development, and Design) at Broadstairs College, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. While the lecturers were nice, friendly, and genuinely tried their best with the resources they had, the course itself suffered from significant issues. The program was plagued by constant staff changes, poor management, and a lack of resources, which severely impacted the quality of learning. The exams were also poorly organized, making the overall experience messy and frustrating. I believe the course has potential and each course is different, but it requires better planning, consistent staffing, and adequate resources to provide students with the education they deserve.

This is my fourth year as a client at the hair salon. Another excellent haircut, thank you. This term the level 3 students are coaching the level 1 students so as a client you get attention and guidance from both as well as the tutor, Tina, monitoring. The deputy principal was talking with students and clients today. . I highly recommend the service (only available in term time). It is really good value with the price only going up once in four years.. thank you ladies, see you in December.

Great College staff are lovely and so helpful. And my course is good and I'm learning skills. Probably become LSp here as a job when I'm older .

Wow wanted advice and was told they couldn't help. Wow it may have been a way in to the college for another course. But as they can't give me 2 minutes of advice.

Really lovely venue for celebrating birthdays/weddings. The food was good if not exceptional. Very clean and the bedrooms are spacious with excellent air conditioning.

to call this place a college is a insult.I am so sad this is the only college in thanet this place needs one simple thing done closing down/demolished. i have never felt unwelcome despite my needs not being listened to my right to launch a an official complaint and i get some moody old lady defending everything to try and go through to the complaint saying shes the top one and it will only go to her and not higher. they make false promises to help you out but then demand information when you are not comfortable to give it due to sever anxiety and mental health problems this place is disgusting I got so sick of this place to the point where i didn't bother joining absolute disgraceful place i feel bad for the people who have no choice but to go here. If you have a choice to go somewhere else do it

Hair appointment booked with 2nd year students. No staff or students showed prior to booked session, at the actual time of the appointment or 25 minutes after. This on top of now having to have skin tests for colours 48 hours before every time a colour is needed. Parking is difficult and entry to the site is not easy either.

Nice college, it got everything, student centre where there's pool tables air hockey ps4/xbox to play fifa and stuff they give out free breakfast till 8:45, good teachers, in general you'd be happy as a student there.

Excellent teaching and pastoral care

Took daughter to an open day, sat there for an hour waiting Despite repeated attempts to call the right department, the receptionist could not get hold of anyone... for an 'open day'it was anything but .. unimpressed

There are some good and fun courses there to do and the members of staff are friendly there.

I was taught here, but today was just a visit. Excellent college with lovely staff.

3rd time for staying at the Yarrow. Beautiful as ever. Table service not as good as the first two times. One or two errors.

Helpful staff. Can be a pain to park when busy. Good course's to be done.

This place is amazing activities for everyone perfect courses that you find interesting and the staff here are nice specially in creative industries that was where I was I'm a student named jake gorham from this collage but sadly moved on and left now shal I say this place has kept good memories in my head and heart

From what I can remember they didn't care if you were being bullied, only when you got angry and upset and called you paranoid, I left years ago when I used to live in Broadstairs, its not ideal for people with learning disabilities to attend this college, not all the staff were nice either, someone I met at this college passed away over four years ago, I don't really have good memories of this college but some staff were nice who I miss.

I asked for Computing and ICT, I got business and finance titled "Computing and ICT". 0/10 wouldn't study again

The site is small but still a bit confusing there isn't much signage around; apart from the building names. it's hard to differences between staff and students. The support center is reluctant to help you. they did just only put more bins around campus. They don't seem to care about bullying at all and just let people get ganged up on in the cafeteria. Plus cases of racism has been reported but nothing has been done. This collage is a place of fulse hope toxicity and staff failings.

It was great going back to college , the tutors are great , they have a lot on there plate with teaching young people, it can be very stressful , but I learn a lot on the course that I am doing ( health and social care )

Clean facilities, friendly staff and good tutors. I'm very much enjoying my evening class here.

I found the wifi seemed not to be able to cope with my Harry Potter game and also car park wasfull a couple of times when returning from a day out otherwuse everyone was so good and I would stay there again and recommend it to anyone who needs to visit the area

College, young people, old people, learning. Most excellent.

Great place for free qualitifications, but not if you want to learn something.

Staff is nice. They told me to get out because it's apparently not a hotel. I was bad because it clearly was. I liked the food. I however got kicked out when an staff member came and told me that this was reserved for goers of the school. I don't know what that meant. Pretty poggers to be honest. 1/15. Pretty bum innit. Very good college. I've been here for 3 weeks with my group of "Let's Go educational programmes" and I liked it so much.

The teachers are trying there best

I’m a student at east Kent college and I applied for apprenticeship they wouldn’t let me because I’m autistic and have a ehcp plan since then they wanted to kick me out to give me a bad reference today they sent me Home so they can decide to let me back or not over something petty wouldn’t advise going here bad place

Went to an open day spent all day filling in forms, doing an on line maths and English test and having an interview went to register and they only tell me then I had to pay an administration fee of £70! total Waste of my time and a totally unproductive day as I didn't have the money spare.

(Talking about the Dover campus) Its an alright college however the staff are not so good. I have autism and then had an issue with the staff due to my autism. There was really only one member of staff but they were dedicated trained to help autistic pupils. Instead of retraining their staff they decided to go with the easy option of kicking me out. They then said they would allow me back in in September however they have ignored ALL of my applications. Go somewhere else if you can.

The physical college is reasonable for what you would expect. Canteen etc. Parking but limited, easier to park in the evening. However the tuition on some courses needs to be addressed. Lack of qualified lecturers in some areas.
