Food - fabulous!!! And the service - superb!!! I have never experienced the professionalism of how this restaurant accommodated my food intolerances. I was speechless!! Thank you!! Hats off to mrDeanes, 11 out of 10.

Sadly not for me - quite a sterile environment for somewhere claiming to be ‘relaxed’ Staff uniforms are awful - they look like little school boys in basic white shirts & black trousers - no aprons no waistcoats etc - looks cheap & unfinished Service hit & miss - as with other reviews my friend had to request the ‘early bird’ menu then was told we needed to hurry up as it finishes soon - note we had been sitting unserved since 6pm!!! Didnt get to have dessert or coffee as service was too slow and we were heading to a show My chicken was tasty enough - from the a la carte menu and my friends ordered from set early bird menu - portions small on a massive plate & ‘fish goujons’ were awful - I have seen better frozen fishfingers Disappointed to have to write this review as used to love Deanes Deli and really wanted to love this new spot but it is just lacking in warmth & service sadly - with all the competition now in Belfast esp The Ivy, needs to readdress sadly

I had booked a table for 1800.It was a Friday evening. I arrived at 1750 and were shown to our table. We were given a food and drinks menu. 20 minutes later someone came and asked if would like a drink. Drinks were ordered as was the food. The drinks came quickly. The first course was small but tasty. (Liver Pate). Main course was prawn risotto (Large ... which wasn't) Dessert was sticky toffee pudding. (good portion size and very flavoursome). Bill paying time... We noted on the menu an early bird option 2 courses for £19.97 HOWEVER to have this early bird menu you as a customer have to ask for the other menu (which at no time had ever been mentioned). When paying for the meal I spoke to the manager and was told that I had to ask for the early bird menu. As I pointed out how would anyone ever know. I said there was no mention of this anywhere and it spoilt our experience at the restuarant.

First time here. Wow and I mean wow! Was over in Belfast depositing the girl child to uni. Had some time to kill early afternoon before flight back so came upon Mr Deane's and thought I'd try it. I wasn't exactly in smart casual, so was a bit apprehensive about fitting in. The staff were friendly and attentive. I was offered tap water straight away and had a non alcoholic beer while choosing. Had the salted squid for starters followed by scallop pasta. both were absolutely beautiful. Even though I was on my own I didn't feel out of place. Thought I'd spoil myself with a sticky toffee pudding which was fantastic. Only two issues that I'd highlight: 1. Ordered side portion of greens which didn't appear, but I was enjoying the pasta so much that I didn't really miss them (didn't appear on my bill) 2. Restaurant unable to do oat latte as an option as the coffee machines have the milk dispenser built in. I was offered a regular coffee with oat milk on the side which was ok, but was surprised based on the quality of the restaurant The final bill including service charge was 56.00 which coming from London is absolutely fantastic value for the quality of the food. Will be back again.

Food could not be faulted but staff did not engage at all, was our 54th wedding anniversary, no opportunity to mention that all felt slightly robotic. Been going her over many years but maybe done…

We were looking forward to eating in the rebranded Mr Deans , I had the worst fish I have had in Ireland, it was quite tasteless , served with sloppy creamed potatoes and a few meagre strips of seaweed. My husband had asked for his peppered steak rare and spoke in French to the French waiter to make sure he understood . Sadly it arrived overcooked and when he said to the manageress she said because it was served with pepper sauce it cannot come pink!! The waiter did apologise and offered my husband a complementary dessert , which in no way compensated for what was to be a special evening out out for two people. The carafe of wine was basic, the meal price was extortionate for terrible quality.

Now a Bistro Mr Deanes. love Fish has been rebranded. Only reopened last week but I must say everything was 100% Food. We shared the tempura prawns with a delicious sauce. The batter was so light top marks for this starter I ordered the scallops with a tomato risotto. Scallops cooked beautifully and the tomato risotto had so much flavour a dish I have never had before but will definitely have again. My friend had the fish and chips set on a bed of pea puree. Fish again batter so light and delicious fish. Chips crunchy and v tasty Unfortunately we did not have time for dessert Hopefully next time We had a glass of Pinot and a Sauvignon which went beautifully with our food Love the new menu Staff extremely attentive and friendly The new restaurant has been refurbished up to a very high standard Meat Locker now being refurbished next door

Came here for the 60 pound tasting menu. From the moment we walked through the door, till the moment we left, we had never experienced such polite, informative, warm and professional staff. They really made my birthday that little bit more special. Myself and my partner don't eat lamb but this was not a problem in the slightest and we chose a dish from a different menu. The chestnut pasta that we chose from the vegetarian menu, was a fantastic replacement. The food spoke for itself. Everything was perfect. Although I have to say the desserts made it for me. I have never tasted anything like the lemon curd dessert before. Absolute heaven. Being a pastry chef myself, and have eaten A LOT of desserts..... THIS IS THE BEST IVE HAD. Would love a couple of shifts in that kitchen We will be back to try EVERYTHING!!!!!!

First-class meal. Delicate and flavoursome amuse-bouche, good scallop in mushroom broth, excellent monkfish, exceptional glazed rabbit, very good salt aged beef, lovely desserts. The dishes were beautifully balanced, with imaginative garnishes and wonderful sauces. The matching wines were all well chosen, often surprising and they complemented perfectly the dishes. And the service was impeccable. There are other Belfast restaurants which I enjoy but Eipic is on a different level - this is genuinely fine dining.

We love Michael Deane's restaurants - consistently good - never let us down. So we thought we would try Eipic. Honest opinion? Atmosphere - extremely flat for first 90 mins till place filled up. Service - staff excellent (though they did miss some basics like explaining format (ie tasting menu) for those of us who had not been there before. Also did not place serviette on us as we were sitting down. Also not obvious that there was an accompanying (curated) drinks menu - until they told us - two courses in. Food was ok - lobster excellent. Quail - nice. Beef - quite bland. Desserts excellent. The best things were 1) curated drinks (sommelier knew his stuff) 2) desserts - lovely : 3) cheese - lovely selection 4) knowledgeable and friendly staff. Service could have been quicker. Overall - good but not exceptional. Not particularly memorable. Mind you - with a bill for £260 for two - it should have been exceptional. I can't really see how this place deserves a Michelin star - there has to be more than nice presentation of food. The cold soup (which tasted overwhelmingly of cucumber) was so bland. Mr Frostie would have done better. Seriously, Michael and Danni - you might fill this place every week / but as a regular customer of your restaurants - you should be doing better than this. We're heading to Ox in a couple of weeks. We'll let you know how you compare.

This was our first lunch at the Eipic at Deanes (17th October 2014). The décor was elegantly modern, the seating and the table arrangements were most comfortable. We opted for the £30 four course lunch menu and every dish was a delight, beautifully cooked and presented, each course was a surprise. Being familiar with the best restaurants in Belfast, we have to say that the Eipic is outstanding in every respect. The service too was impeccable and it was nice to chat over our coffee with both the owner Michael Deane and the lady chef Danni. All in all perfect food, service and surroundings, we have already booked our next visit and we anticipate making this a regular lunch venue.

My wife and I went there for lunch on October 12, 2014. The decor is simple but elegant, the staff was friendly and attentive. My wife and I shared the deluxe cold seafood platter, which was probably a little too much food for two people, but we managed to polish it off anyway. The platter contained some delicious oysters, lovely shrimp, lobster, smoked salmon, tons of mussels, and two pieces of pickled herring. All served with lemon, four different dipping sauces (one specifically for the oysters, but we used it with the other items) and Tabasco. My wife and I were in seafood heaven. The Sauvignon Blanc from the Languedoc region in France was excellent (very earthy and lots of mineral flavors on the tongue). We were slightly disappointed with the bread platter, which contained wheaten bread and baguettes, with plain butter -- it could have done with some herbal butter or oils, but that's a very minor issue. Simply no room for dessert. They have lunch specials for 6.50 GBP, which I'm sure are very good value for the money--the full menu looks excellent as well--a range of tapas as well as big plates and non-seafood dishes.

EIPIC is a new venture by Michael Deane where the Equinox shop used to be in Howard Street, Belfast. The decor is modern, stylish and elegant, with a floor to ceiling walk-in wine cellar (which I was invited to visit!) between the restaurant proper and the well laid out bar area. This visit was a birthday celebration for our wives, so we started with an excellent bottle of Billecart-Salmon, and ate the superb little "amuse-bouche" dishes which appeared while while we perused the menu. The menu is an interesting experience in itself - printed in white on black it presented a sequence of seven dishes from which to choose 4,5 or 6 courses, followed by cheese, with or without the accompanying wine chosen by the restaurant for each course, and which could be had either as a small "shot" amount or a "glass" at your choice. The menu and wine selections are on their website.I am sure the menu varies - that evening we chose 6 courses with accompanying wine selected from a superb duck egg yolk based dish, perfectly cooked scallops, a superb chicken dish in an accompanying broth, halibut cooked to perfection, the best venison I have had in years, a melt-in-the-mouth chocolate and cherry - based dessert and an excellent cheese selection, all in reasonable portion sizes, with subtle and sometimes surprising tastes and textures in the associated vegetables and sauces. These were accompanied by a varied selection of wines with each course, from a white marsanne/rousanne based Rhone, an interesting perfumed Viognier, a new world Pinot Noir, a moderate young St.Emilion, to a flavoursome Spanish moscatel with dessert, though the wines varied from acceptable to very good. With hindsight I would probably prefer to choose directly myself by the bottle from their excellent wine list. Between some of the courses other little "in betweens" appeared with the chef's compliments, including a delicious seafood ice-cream! A small mix-up with the Chateau Macquin was interestingly and satisfyingly resolved by the sommelier. A friendly and interesting chat with Mr Deane, superb, informative and unobtrusive service, and surprisingly perfect orchestration of the placement and removal of the many wineglasses accompanying each course, made for a memorable evening. Congratulations to Michael Deane and chef Danni Barry for such a well constructed and excellent dining experience. We will definitely be back.

We dined in Deane's Eipic on Saturday night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were a little nervous of the menu at first but this was countered by the really friendly, professional staff who reassured us with a comprehensive explanation of the menu. We loved the 'story' of each course. The food is simply stunning, delicious flavours presented artfully on the plate. This was an unhurried, relaxed, interesting and fun food experience. We also enjoyed the opportunity to chat with Michael Deane, who circulated around the tables, conversing with diners in a relaxed, informal manner, eager to listen to feedback. This is intelligent food beset by a subtle, relaxing ambience, very professional and attentive staff (special mention to Bronagh)...we will most definitely return. Thank you to all the staff.

went on a Saturday night and we were greeted in a friendly and professional manner and shown to our table. The staff were very helpful and very well trained. Cant say anything bad about our experience, it was everything you would expect from this class of establishment. 2 of us choose the taster menu and the 3rd person chose from the normal menu. every course on the taster menu was superb and was especially impressed by the foie gras ice cream - beautiful. Cant praise this restaurant enough and its a credit to the chef, staff and Michael Deane. The prices are commensurate with the quality of food and general decor and ambience of the place. Will definitely be back.

Really enjoyed 3 courses for £40 last night. Even though you order 3 courses, the snacks that come along the way makes the whole evening such a treat. Service was excellent but nothing could compare to the quality of food. Each course got better as the night went on. Best restaurant in Belfast in a long time.

Friday tasting lunch (couple) 2 courses 20 pounds; little plate of scratchings to being, very tasty served with cream fraiche, Lovely bread rolls with great butter. All the little dishes were wonderful, happy little plates, eating with the eye first if you know what I mean. Friday Dinner (tasting again): 70 pounds per person, with friends had same excellent result with the addition of a cocktail or two in the champagne bar first :-) Beautiful decor, crockery and cutlery and exemplary service (bow to Humberto & colleagues) You may of course opt for the tasting with wine pairing, but we don't do this. The wine list is excellent and the prices are what one would expect in a fine dining establishment. With the tasting menus there are no big heavy portions and you leave the restaurant feeling complete but not stuffed which suits me down to the ground. There are a lot of courses, so I would recommend you do not leave your table reservation too late. Chef Danni Barry has real talent, and for each separate dish to be complete in its own right, in marriage of flavours and tastes is a real accomplishment. Cannot wait to return, but need to try Love Fish next...........watch this space :-)

This is now part of the newly revamped and expanded restaurant at Deanes in Howard Street which now encompasses a seafood bar, the meat locker and Eipic a fine dining restaurant. I came to Eipic with two girl friends for a special night out. I had looked at the menu on their website and was not convinced. How wrong can you be, this concept is very different to anything Belfast has to offer and is very exciting. I can honestly say that this is the best meal I have ever had in Belfast, the menu was great value as they keep adding little extras such as a Lobster ice cream which is truly divine. It is just a wonderful experience, the service was perfect and the wine list whilst extensive was very affordable. I am already planning my next visit and I would recommend this to all foodies. The chef is a local girl who we met on the evening, apparently she started off in Deanes and went to London where she last worked in a 2 star Michelin restaurant, she is very humble and an extremely talented cook. Well done Mr Deane for pushing the culinary boundaries in Belfast
