We had an excellent Indian meal in the Bengal Brasserie. My Chicken Korma was excellent 😋. Ice cream desserts were very tasty. I would add that like most Restaurants in Belfast, the Bengals prices have increased but don't let that put you off.

Visiting Bangor Brasserie in Belfast with friends was an unforgettable culinary experience. The brasserie's chic yet cozy ambiance made it the perfect spot for our gathering. From the moment we arrived, the friendly staff made us feel right at home, guiding us through the menu with expert recommendations. I started with the seafood chowder, a hearty dish brimming with fresh flavors that set a high standard for the rest of the meal. For the main course, I chose the pan-seared duck breast, cooked to perfection and accompanied by a delightful medley of seasonal vegetables and a rich, tangy sauce. Each bite was a testament to the chef’s skill and creativity. My friends enjoyed a variety of dishes, from succulent steaks to vegetarian risottos, and each plate was met with enthusiastic praise. We concluded with a shared dessert platter, featuring an assortment of decadent treats. The exceptional food, combined with great company and outstanding service, made our visit to Bangor Brasserie truly memorable.

I used to come to the Bengal Brasserie a lot many years ago - 15-20 plus maybe - and it only came back on my radar having moved house over to the Ormeau area. We have been there three times in the last couple of weeks and I couldn’t recommended the food, service and ambiance more highly. It’s a real treat to go there. The food is top notch - fresh, full of flavour and beautifully presented. But what sets it apart is the warm welcome and customer service. My family and I were warmly welcomed on every occasion, and the Menu options were tailored to suit a range of tolerances to hot food and spice. Service was very attentive and personal on every occasion, and there is a clear level of pride among the staff. The little touches like the hot towels at the end of the serving and complimentary post dinner liquor bring back great memories of classic restaurant service. We loved it all and on every visit! This original version of Bengal Brasserie (the Lisburn Road one is a different business with difference owners I believe) has been an institution in Belfast for over 30 years and it is easy to see why it has stood the test of time when hundreds of restaurants have come and gone over three decades. My only regret is that it fell off my radar for so long, but I am so delighted that we have rediscovered it!

Five of us went for dinner with a 7.30 booking. We didnt get seated till after 8.30. We ordered our food (only mains) and then waited over an hour before our food came. Then we waited another 15 minutes for our nans and rice. Meanwhile we realised our food was only lukewarm. When this was pointed out to the waiter, he took our food and bought it back within 2 minutes. It was obviously heated in the microwave. This meal was a comedy of errors. The food was only average. We were offered complimentary drinks which when the bill came, we had been charged for it!!! Avoid at all costs.

I called the restaurant, and they sent back the same dish again 😡 I ordered Chicken Methi 4 times previously, so I am sure it's wrong. The dish that I received was extremely spicy that I couldn't handle, which exacerbated my cough. This is not even written in the menu as for other spicy dishes. Very bad experience. Also, the pilu rice was so plain. It was without flavour. The starter (mix) was not really yummy but not too bad. Very bad experience.

The chicken in the curry was extremely dry and the prices are actually outrageous compared to other close by Indian restaurants. The curry was 100% under seasoned. The worst part was that I didn't even have a chance to sit down yet and was bombarded to order a drink. I said I needed a moment, after about a minute I was asked to pick a drink. Please let the customers get comfortable first! Really disappointing.

I would give 0 stars if it was an option. We ordered a pasanda curry and a butter chicken dish but received two light yellowy beige curries. As soon as we opened the lid we sensed something was wrong and tried a bit of the sauce with a teaspoon. It was absolutely nauseating and inedible. We hate to waste food but had no other choice than to discard both of them as it tasted like semolina pudding with chunks of meat in it, just disgustingly sweet and gritty without even a slight hint of spice. As you can see from the picture, the two dishes looked exactly the same. They also smelled and tasted the same as well. We called the restaurant to confirm that we were indeed given the correct order and were told that we were and that is how the dishes are meant to be. As much as I agree and respect that every restaurant have their own recipes and cook in an individual style, you cannot tell me that one of those is supposed to be butter chicken. Extremely disappointing and will not order from here in the future.

Went on the recommendation of our host at Ravenhill House. Very good food and nice service. Plenty of selections, lots of starters and drinks, too. Be warned - the quantity of portions was huge! On main will serve two to four people! We came in early on a bank holiday, about 5 PM, and we were the only customers. By 6 PM, not a table available! Service is good - almost too attentive, especially when there are few customers. The butter chicken was on the sweet side but good. The chicken tikka biryiani was nice, although the chicken was a bit drive. Nice flavor, though.

My worst ever experience at a restaurant, if after a hard week at work you head out to restaurant to unwind and relax with a close friend I would avoid this place, because what you actually get is a very rude and obnoxious waiter, abruptly interrupted every 10 minutes to buy more drinks when your glasses are sill full and get served food that tastes like a frozen microwave meal. This may seem harsh but it's 100% accurate.

Visited a couple of weeks ago. Very stern waiting staff, with the exception of a much more friendly, younger guy. Had to ask about the £23 (!!!) 'offer' that I'd seen online (wasn't automatically made aware of it. Very poor form!! The 'offer' was a curry, naan and half pint of lager for that price. Steep, yet it's a so-called 'offer.' Had difficulties obtaining a pint of water from who was my designated waiter, but got off the other, more friendly one. Charge for poppadoms. First time ever seeing that...and I've been to many Indian restaurants. Curries are £17-95 and upwards with no accompanying naan or rice. Sorry, but that is *insane!!!* My local Indian in east Belfast is £10-95 and is nicer and with bigger portion. Bengal Brasserie's take-out prices are almost half the price of the sit-in costs; why?!! Masala chips decent, but not as nice as another south Belfast Indian. Deeply disappointing to read that others have experienced getting a free sambuca, or otherwise, upon departure of the restaurant. That would have sweetened things slightly for me. I paid just over £35 for my 'offer', poppadoms, a pint of Cobra (£5-95) and Masala chips. That is beyond ridiculous. Much cheaper (and better!) Indian restaurants in Belfast with B.Y.O. This place is decent, but the prices are crazy, crazy, crazy!!

When our food finally arrived, at least 1 hour after ordering, most of the mains were ok but nothing special and the butter chicken was awful, it appeared to be precooked chicken in a sickly sweet sauce, I've tasted better from a jar. Not good enough when they are charging an average of £18-£25 for a main. I expect the food to be better than I can cook at home! The service wasn't just slow, the servers weren't great either. Apart from one, they were not particularly welcoming or helpful. We asked if a meal we had never tried before was very spicey, the waiter just read what it said on the menu! Amazingly we had already done this and the word hot does not always mean the same thing in every restaurant.. This waiter did not seem to know much about how to serve the food or interact with customers either, I suspect he was just there to help out on a busy night. While I appreciate that they were busy, they were completely unapologetic for the slow service and watching bag after bag of takeaway food being carried past to the front counter does not help the mood of hungry neglected customers in the restaurant. We won't be back, there are several Indian restaurants nearby that serve better food at more reasonable prices.

Was in a party of 9 people booked for 7pm. When we arrived they looked like they’d never heard of the booking. Eventually got a table after 10 mins standing in the doorway blocking the place. The ninth person wasn’t given a seating at the table we had to ask for a chair. Twice. The order was taken around 7.30 and 3 people got starters however the main courses were not served until 8.40 pm. Nearly two hours after being in the restaurant. Half the party got their food while the other half had to wait for the rest to come up the table. The wrong Tikka meal was plonked down in front of me. The waiting staff looked blankly at any request for water or drinks. Nobody came near us to ask if we needed anything. People were coming in after us, getting served and leaving before we’d even got our main meals. Staff were unpleasant. They could learn a lot from Nu Delhi or any other Indian Restaurant for that matter.

I've been a customer here for years, and it has a decent reputation. Prices are pretty steep for a suburban Indian restaurant, and on tonight's showing, not value for money. Our group of 14 were mostly happy with their shared starters and Indian standards like Lamb Rogan Josh and Tandoori Chicken Tikka. But service was not good. Several staff just didn't seem very clued in, and I'm sorry to report, not very professional. I hate to repeat myself, but staff should be trained properly before being sent out on the floor. My Lamb Chops were completely overdone and were dry and tasteless. At £21.95 I expected much better. Mains are around the £18 to £20 mark. Starters are around £8. Sides were the best part of the menu. The Palok Paneer, spinach with Indian cottage cheese, was delicious. Aubergine slow cooked with mellow spices, was soft and smokey. But the evening was let down with poor service. There are plenty of staff, but some of them don't seem to know what they're doing. I complained about the Lamb Chops and they took them off the bill, after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing. They sent out "Little Guinnesses", featuring Baileys and Kahlua, which was a nice gesture. But I'd prefer if their food was right first time. Our bill worked out at £50 per person, which is serious money for a curry. Disappointing.

This was my go to place in Belfast for Indian food. However I was shocked the prices have shot up in the last several months. I’m from London. The prices in here are on par with very high end fine dining in London. Average is £17 for a single main dish. I have visited 100’s of Indians Accross the world. The food it’s self is ok. Not great in my opinion. I love a pahtia, it’s the dish I compare in every restaurant, this places was very red in colour and tastes of sugar no sour taste. I give the food 6/10. The ambiance is very nice. Staff are friendly.

I ordered to collect... Absolutely disgusting, chicken was hard freezing cold, madras which was more like a masala.. The price of food was £16.40 so i handed him a £20 and he said did i have the right money as he had no change in till or shop to give me.. So i had to let him keep change.. Phoned shop after eating to complain and he more or less called me a liar as he said he always gives his customers change and that i must of been talking abput another shop ha... The cheek of him even, horrible customer service and horrible food.. I DONT RECCOMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT TO ANYONE

Not great. Ordered for delivery, guy on the phone says it’ll be 40 minutes. It’s 70 minutes. I chase a few times and am told the delivery man left the restaurant over half an hour ago. My house is a 3 minute drive from the restaurant. Food eventually turns up - it’s cold, which isn’t surprising given it’s been in a car for well over half an hour. I ring up and, amazingly, the man in the restaurant tells me my food is hot, even though I’m standing in my kitchen touching the cold food. I could send it back, but my family are at this point starving, so we end up paying £45 for cold food. No discount, no refund, no apology - no chance of me going back. Avoid.

Awful. Would give zero stars if that was possible. The food is no where near Bengali, let alone Indian. Extremely overpriced! Can’t believe the prices for the rubbish that’s being served! Staff are lovely but service was painfully slow.

1st and last time we will go here. Waited over 2 hours for our meal, when arrived cold taken away only to be heated in microwave!! Over booked, could not cope, take away orders seemed to have been a priority. Although asked for covid passport, staff either wearing masks keeping chins warm or not covering nose. Awful experience

Bengal Brasserie food is spectacular. The menu has a massive variety of options and the meal we ate tonight was second to none. Staff are polite, welcoming and always very happy to help. I can't fault the Bengal Brasserie at all and I love the food.

Packed night confirming its popularity. Good location. Good Covid precautions. Pleasant staff. Starter "tapas" platter was very nice. Not too fussed on main dish I ordered, could have been better prepared. Will I go back? Yes.

Had the worst flavourless Jalfrezzi tonight used to be awesome. No comparison to the one I had recently at Sonali Lisburn Road. Guess I'll be back to Sonali

Went here with my hesties tonight and the food was amazing staff were also so lovely and friendly and super attentive. Gave us a drink on the house after our food, how sweet. We were in a wee private booth at the front of the restaurant and got to play our own tunes through a speaker. Seriously awesome night and will be back for sure !!! Wooohooooo

Delicious food. Quiet and unassuming from the outside but the food was amazing. Early bird menu super reasonable and of course, the food was great. Highly recommend for a quiet evening meal.
