EGO. You saved my date night. Thank you. I had a completely underwhelming evening (understatement of the year) trying to get food at the Botanist in Leopold Square. Your staff, after hearing my story, took my ruined evening and turned it into a great evening by accommodating my wife and I despite you being, what looked to be, completely full (and without a reservation!!) Your food was really quick to turn up, it tasted (as usual) amazing! And to top it off, the whole experience was QUICKER from start to finish, including dessert and a coffee, than the WAITING TIME from the Botanist (to get food that was wrong.!!) And to my new German waitress friend. See you again on the 19th !! Danke!!

We went for a group Afternoon Tea, with prior booking. Were seated instantly and offered the options for the "Tea" part of it. It was served within 10 minutes and our veg or meat stacks of the "food" part was served within another 5 minutes. The sandwiches, fish balls, goat cheese were lovely! Finally, bread with dollops of clotted cream and jam and brownie was the perfect desert. Some of our cream didn't taste quite well, and the guys were super quick to take note and offered them another round of bread, cream and jam! This was super nice and understanding of them. Would love to visit them again for afternoon tea!

I've seen the reviews about the waiting on staff....I can see thier point but that sort of thing doesn't bother me. What does is how a restaurant cannot get food right. I started with the mussels. Over 50% were empty/stringy. Told staff and was ignored....its mussels for God's sake, so so easy to get right. I won't be going again.

We chose from the set menu, before the theatre on Sunday evening. Three courses, plenty of choice. Good food, reasonably priced, friendly efficient service.

Ordered mussels for starters and omg how awful we have them all the time in restaurants and both myself and my husband couldn’t eat them. They stunk awful and after giving them a try got to say worst mussels ever. Got dirty look from waitress as I quietly mentioned this to her. Swapped for garlic Wild mushrooms and sorry to say they were just as bad tough as old boot Over priced wine too Won’t visit ever again

Food overall was good as was the service but i have to mention i had the cheesecake for dessert and was really disappointed ive had better frozen ones from aldi so avoid this dessert at all costs however i must mention it is baked but if that means it tastes like it did then baked cheesecake is not nice

My parents have been visiting me in Sheffield atleast once a year for over a decade. This is basically the only restaurant my extremely picky mother will eat at so I've been quite a few times. If you like Mediterranean cuisine you can't go wrong. No complaints about the service come to mind. Although I haven't tried it myself, it's also been recommended to me that they have a decent dedicated vegan menu. Their menu appears to have been updated recently.

In the city centre just a stones throw from the Lyceum theatre, this is an excellent restaurant. As the restaurant's name suggests, food has Mediterranean origins and flavours and is efficiently served and delicious. As it was midday we went for the set lunch which was good and more than sufficient. Although we had soft drinks there is good offering of alcoholic drinks and cocktails.

A bit draughty near the door every time a gang arrived. Bigger portions of tzaziki would've been good with the mains. Had a coffee and mini pud. Would've liked a splodge of custard on my mini pud. Someone had a full portion of pie and would've liked 1/2 custard, 1/2 ice cream but not available.

Great place. This was my first time visiting. I look forward to going again. The food and service were as good as it gets.

We visit often. Service always attentive and first rate. Food always top quality. Always busy when we go. This visit we arrived at 17.00 and the place was a quarter full by 18.00 is was full. A sure sign it is good. We look forward to our next visit. The gluten free menu is excellent.

We chose Ego due to its locaton and its consistently good food as we had a group of clients visiting Sheffield. Our group size kept changing and the manager, Dan was very accommodating even though the venue were already heavily booked for that evening. The fixed price menu offers something for everyone and the feedback from the whole party was positive and service was prompt, helped by the option to pre-order. Thank you, we had a lovely time and were well looked after.

Our work team of 15 went for a meal on a Saturday night. We were able to easily pre-order and manage our meals, and were well looked after all evening. Excellent service, delicious food, great drinks, would definitely recommend!

Good food and choice. There is a vegan menu which was not offered until the deserts course. Unfortunately we were close to the door, which was opening and closing, resulting in a blast of cold air every few minutes.

It was Valentine's Day. We were going to The Lyceum for a show and hadn't planned on eating before then. However, as we had both been working, we were tired and the thought of eating afterwards wasn't so appealing, we decided to get a table anywhere. Everywhere was booked. We tried Ego and we lucked out. Sam got us a table event hough they were booked up. We explained we only had 45 minutes. He assured us the food would arrive in good time and true to his word we had our food in the time we requested it. The food was delicious, the service was wonderful, Kristen kept checking up on us to make sure we were ok. They were both wonderful. Also many thanks to the chefs for being accommodating. We enjoyed our show and got back home safely without stopping anywhere for food. Will definitely be returning and recommending.

Really nice restaurant and good food. There was a mess up with the starter (they brought a soup we hadn’t ordered after we were told it was another kind) but were quick to apologise and remove the item from the bill. We had great main courses, decent glasses of wine and the service was lovely. The busy atmosphere was good and the location and decor are really nice.

Excelllent restaurant, the food was very good and lots of it, we could only manage a main course. We tried the mixed hanging kebab and the Moroccan lamb, both were delicious, the Moroccan lamb was particularly good, full of flavour and tender. The staff were friendly and efficient. We both enjoyed a fabulous time at Ego; warmly welcomed and looked after by our excellent waiter Claudiu. The food was excellent. Our starters were battered brie and chorizo in red wine, both very good. Our mains of cod supreme and pork fillet were superb, the pork cooked to perfection in a beautiful sauce with dauphinois potatoes. The Rioja wine was an excellent accompaniment to the food. We didn’t have a sweet but the menu looked inviting! The service and the atmosphere in a modern environment was very good. The place, by 6.30 ish on a damp Wednesday evening, was buzzing! Update to original review, very happy to report Ego is still a great choice for a meal at any time of day. Staff make everyone welcome and I still thoroughly recommend it. Check if any special offers are available as they regularly change them. Old review posted 2020: Visited Monday lunchtime on a very hot day. The private, elevated, outdoor terrace provided excellent shade with the large parasols and was spacious and airy. There are various lunch menu options with lots of choice. We picked from the Rapido menu which includes a drink (the house wine was fine) and enjoyed our meals. Particularly liked the salad dressing. Also liked the option of having a small dessert which includes coffee. On a very hot day it's good to be offered smaller, lighter meals. The staff made us very welcome, they are intuitive, helpful and friendly. They were obviously feeling the heat but remained happy and attentive. Overall an excellent lunchtime experience.

Seven of us went out for dinner for steak night at Ego's. I broke ranks and went with the slow cooked Beef Bourguignon. Been to Ego twice now and both times the food and service was fantastic would highly recommend going and great value for money if you join the the Ego club you get great discounts to use on your visits.
