Friendly for sure. Good sized breakfast but feel the sausages could be of a better quality as it let the meal down. I couldn't eat them as they were not meaty and felt rubbery.

We were looking for somewhere for lunch, when visiting the town in Cowes Week and happened to spot this place. So glad we did. The sort of place we easily might have overlooked, it is great value, serving delicious food and with lovely, friendly staff. We had two lots of scampi and chips and one cooked breakfast. Delicious ! Really highly recommended. Avoid the ripoff prices in the eateries near the water and go here!!

An Eegons customer for as many years as Rod has been in business. Usually a visitor to this Cowes institution at the weekends with my partner and dog but on this occasion a thank-you breakfast for some of my colleagues. All thoroughly enjoyed and I’m sure when they are the right side of The Solent Eegons will be seeing them again…as for me I’ll be in at the weekend.

Great food, great staff, nice harbour views. I was in when Amanda W and her friend were in who left the previous review. Her review is no surprise, l think if they'd had gold knives and forks, red carpet and were served by Charles and Camilla it wouldn't have been good enough. Some people are just determined to be unsatisfied.

We visited one rainy morning in September. Unsure what to expect. Ordered the large breakfast at £13 each. Waited a fair while for it to arrive. In the meantime we were bought over a mug of lukewarm tea with the milk already in and the teabag. There was so much milk and such a cheap teabag no matter how much it was dunked it was still so weak. We asked for another teabag which we were given but it made no difference so we were unable to drink it as we like strong tea. Breakfast arrived and we were shocked at the poor quality of all the ingredients overall. It tasted vile and we couldn’t eat it. Such a terrible waste of money.

This is your typical greasy spoon cafe. Not a bad breakfast if thats what you are after. But really let down by the chef? Owner? Was extremely rude and shouted to customers 'please read the sign on the stairs' , which stated 'full, no tables'. The cafe had only 2 tables occupied with a further 5 tables free. Very obviously had been put out by more custom of a very quiet Cafe. All this happening around noon. It made it a very unpleasant experience like we shouldn't have been there. When a further table of 5 came in, one of the waitresses had to ask him if they could manage to seat another group. The poor ladies serving were embarrassed by the comments from the chef, and to be fair, they weren't alone.

Had an English breakfast here. They do various sizes, we opted for the half breakfast which includes a drink for £6.50. Those with a bigger appetite might think it's worth an extra quid to double the portion. Cafe was very clean and staff were friendly and attentive. Only slight criticism is the sausage quality was not great, but this seems to be the norm for a lot of cafes for some reason. Would still recommend however, Cowes can be expensive so this was a good place to find. They also have a small lunch menu which was very good value for money.

Eegons has legendary status, with good reason. Such a traditional “caff”, but with lots of little touches of humour and individuality. And great service from people who clearly care and have skill in preparing the food. The only thing I’d want to improve: better produce. The eggs were a bit wan, the bangers a bit processed. The beans were a little bit, well, little. The bacon was fantastic, if everything on the plate sang out local quality, it would have been 6 out of 5 for me!

As soon as you walk in you get greeted by the staff but I found it a bit strange that there was no radio/music or anything of the sort playing. We were recommended to this little gem and what a find it was! It may not look anything special from outside but all the energy has gone into the food and staff. We went here twice not only because of the great food but they also offer a wide range of gluten free as the owner has a Coeliac family member. I was delighted to have sausages and pancakes !!! They also cater for vegan and vegetarian. Nothing is too much trouble and they also support the local Lifeboats and you can buy a heart to go on the wall and it supports a heart charity. The whole place has a great vibe I only wish there was a toilet there, it’s the only criticism I can find. Visit this great cafe, all the locals go there which in itself is a great recommendation!

We have walked past Eegons a number of times and thought "he likes his signage"!!! But when we stayed in Cowes over the new year period, we popped in because the breakfast on offer at the pub we were staying in was rubbish. OMG! What a hoot!!! The bonkers signage continued with aplomb inside too! The staff were very warm and welcoming, our dog was equally welcome, and the choice of food was incredible and certainly great value for money. The service here is absolutely fantastic, great cup of tea, supreme breakfast choices with the option of adding as much additional fayre as one could wish for. How we have walked past this little gem of a proper old fashioned café so many times before and not popped in for a decent full English really does escape me. Keep doing what you do so very well to all who run Eegons. I just wish I could offer a score of 11 out of 10!!! Went to Eegans for a pre Christmas bacon sandwich with friends. We had paddled over to the island from the mainland and were met with a rude waitress telling it's not too come in as she didn't want the floor to get wet. The sea was flat calm, we weren't wet and in any case the cafe is right next to a slip way, she's bound to get wet boots in her cafe. I think she was just showing off in front of the scafolders that were having breakfast. There were 5 in our party. 3 had bacon sandwiches and 4 coffees, one of our party refused to eat or drink anything from this cafe as she was so rude. Instead, she went opposite to a nice cafe. Wish we had too. The bacon sandwiches were brought out onto the street for us to eat on a bench in the drizzle. Mothers pride soggy bread., polystyrene cups full of weak coffee. The packaging was ridiculous and all went into the bin. What a waste, just because she didn't want a wet floor. We won't be going again.

The service is charming and we had a delightful chat with the owner. We would love to return but suspect we won't get in on a busy day. Group of us numbering 11 visited this cafe to have breakfast before travelling back to Southampton. There are various coffee shops and breakfast eateries in the area and over time we have frequented a lot of them in the area. There are plenty to suite all tastes and budgets but this is by far the best. The interior is very clean and bright, if your expecting high end or fancy you need to move along - but if your expecting 5* service, 5* quality cooked breakfast with 5* staff then this is the place for you. From the moment we entered we was greeted with a cheery smile by attentive, courteous happy staff. We ordered our various breakfasts which were served quickly but all were perfectly cooked. I have been visiting Eegon's for at least 15 years. There is a reason why so many locals go there, including yachtsmen, council workmen and builders - it is excellent value and gives you a first class fried breakfast! Not only that but the staff are friendly, and the banter between owner Rod, his staff and customers is always enjoyable. The cafe opens reasonably early and closes after lunch. On occasions when I am travelling and need to leave before normal opening time, then Rod has always offered to open early for me. He understands the meaning of the words customer service!I should add there is also a good lunch menu, offering similar value if you arrive a bit late for breakfast.

I love Eegon's, especially for their epic and varied cooked breakfast selection. I usually have the all day breakfast which is wonderful except for very poor quality economy sausages. The bacon is always excellent (my son says it is the best bacon sandwich he has ever had and he has had a lot) but if they invested in slightly more upmarket sausages it would be perfect. I have managed to eat the breakfast bonanza before (you get a certificate if you do) but the Steakfast defeated the combined efforts of my daughter and I. It is just massive. The notorious Big One is really only for people who are prepared to risk a stroke.So. love going there but please improve the sausages!

It is the only place to eat for a full English fry up - avoid at your peril as nowhere in Cowes does breakfast like Eegons..! Highly recommend and always visit there for brekkie when on the Island...

Met a friend for breakfast before popping around the corner to sail from the Island Sailing Club. Really tasty English breakfast, well cooked and served up with a smile.

If ever you are hungry in the Cowes area, then I can highly recommend Eegons. Not only great value (the best we found in Cowes) but great quality too. Rod and the girls not only supply the best quality of service but they are also highly entertaining and nothing is too much trouble. It's a lovely cafe with plenty of amusing articles on the wall to read. Don't miss out on this little gem in Cowes, you certainly won't be disappointed Nigel

We popped in here for some breakfast during Cowes Week, as it was reassuringly busy but there happened to be a table free. We ordered a range of things involving bacon, eggs, bread and the usual breakfast stuff, and it was all very good and great value too. Helpful staff and a nice buzzy atmosphere.

Remember coming to this pub with my family when I was ten so had to come back 40 odd years later. Disappointed the coffin by the door was gone 😂 but it was a real highlight of our trip. Our dogs were welcomed and fussed over and the food at lunch was amazing, so tasty. Really friendly staff and all the facilities were spotless. Fantastic views over the garden too. A lovely trip down memory lane

Nice busy cafe, lots going on with a lot of choice to make your own baguette. Popular with the locals for lunch who fancy an upgrade from a morrisons meal deal.

We have been here many times over the years and looked forward to our visit again this year. What a disappointment. We had a cream tea which consisted of a pot of tea, 2 scones, butter, cream and jam. The jam and cream pots were half the size they used to be and the butter was barely there, adequate enough for one scone but certainly not two. The jug of milk supplied did not have enough milk for one cup of tea and we had to ask for extra. I do not drink tea and asked for my tea to be substituted with coffee, big mistake, it was undrinkable. Went we went to pay we were told 'cash only' and I was lucky to find some cash in the bottom of my bag. This should be made clear when you enter and before you order as a lot of people do not carry cash. Our experience was so different to every other visit we wondered if there were 'new owners' but overheard the owner telling other visitors that she had been there 17 years. Sadly will not be returning.

I’m really sorry to have to make a public complaint but I sent an email and got no reply. The reason I give it one star despite an overall good price/quality ratio is to highlight this issue and warn other tourists. I dined at this establishment on Saturday September 7, paying at 6.18pm a $98 bill. I added $20 tip in cash and I misunderstood what I had to fill in the receipt, adding a $20 tip as gratuity for a total $118. A staffer working there told me I made a mistake because I was effectively tipping twice, and that she’d strike out the $20 from the receipt so I wouldn’t get charged the tip twice. She told me that she’d do it because they’re honest and that other establishments wouldn’t be that honest. She could have returned the cash but didn’t and also didn’t give me a receipt, but I trusted her word. Yet more than 24 hours later, on Sunday September 8, I got a notification after 9pm saying the amount charged had changed to $118. It’s not fair to make that change more than 24 after the initial charge, as I don’t have the option to return to the diner so all I can do is to email and to ask here to do the right thing and reverse the charge back to $98.
