I booked Edwards for my mums 80th Birthday and can honestly say it was amazing. I pre ordered afternoon tea. Nothing was too much bother for them they sorted a table for 8 in the corner which we were allowed to decorate. My mum thoroughly enjoyed it along with friends and family. A big shout out to Natasha who was backwards and forwards with refills and anything else we needed Thank YOU.

A friend and I visited for lunch. (My friend had been before when it was under different Management. She also returned for a charity event, which she said the food wasn't brilliant and the service felt rushed.) We both had jacket potatoes and coffees, the food was just okay and not cheap. We weren't made to feel very welcome, the lady behind the counter didn't believe in smiling! We both agreed we wouldn't return, but as previously mentioned, she was committed to attend a charity event, which she regretted. There are lots of better venues for lunch. The service was fairly quick, as they kept telling us what time they closed! Very limited choice, as you would expect.

A Friend and I stopped for lunch and it wasn't a particularly good experience. The lady behind the counter didn't do friendly or welcoming and kept reminding us what time they closed. The choices were limited and we both had jacket potatoes, which were okay. My friend was unfortunately committed to return again to a charity event, which she didn't enjoy the food and felt rushed. Neither of us felt this was a good experience and doubt if we will be back, when there are better options. It is only a cafe not a restaurant and the menu is limited, but quite pricey.

Came here as it is local and the reviews were mostly positive. Expensive, tasteless food. Chips (cheap frozen type) were scalding hot and just given my toddler with no warning. Sandwiches were nothing to shoutilise home about. Overall would not recommend or return.

Went for lunch with a friend and were sorely disappointed. The waitress didn't seem to know what was on the menu and justified this by saying she didn't usually work there! My jacket potato looked and tasted as though it had been in and out of the microwave several times and was served with a small portion of salad covered in a rather unpleasant dressing. None of the hot puddings on the menu was available - a run on puddings, apparently, though no more than six other diners had been in the restaurant while we were there and none of them had pudding! All in all a great disappointment.

My husband and I had a voucher to spend in Edwards. We popped in for lunch saturday. I had a tuna mayo salad which was delicious. Very substantial and clearly freshly cut. Best salad I have ever had in this country!. Will go back just for that.

Visited early afternoon. One person serving and lots of tables uncleared from lunch. Quiet but no hurry to serve more interested clearing from lunch than customers. Ordered tea and a panini which was undercooked and not completely hot through. When we tried to pay no one was there, then the single member of staff appeared but spent 5 mins on her mobile not noticing me standing there. Ok one off visit but not impressed with the service or food. Gave no tip.

Have a few times before and not been disappointed but I am afraid this time my wife and I had the caeser salad my wife had this in a wrap. The dressing was really only mayonnaise which was the main ingredient the chicken was tasteless. This dish needs a rethink as I would think it may disappoint many people. The service is quick and friendly .

We had read other reviews and so my wife "treated" me to a birthday tea. The welcome was poor, as was the service and the food little better. It is absolutely immaculate and comfortable, but the food deeply disappointing. The four finger sandwiches each were filled with: sliver of ham; grated cheese; tuna mayo; egg mayo. None had any salad such as cress with the egg or cucumber with the tuna. But they were freshly made. There was a little lettuce as garnish which was already going brown and horrid. Next were the scones; there was one plain and one fruit. They were fine but we're served with a large scoop of poor quality jam and a very small pot of clotted cream to share. After these we ordered tea, which was superb, but the waitress forgot to bring any milk and it took me nearly 10 minutes to attract her attention. Finally the cakes. Various different sponge cakes, none very nice. All in all a great disappointment.

Beautiful period surroundings , let down by low standards of everything else ! Coffee's were not sufficiently hot enough , & on complaining a waitress seemed somewhat puzzled as to how best to remedy the situation ! The food offerings faired worse , after ordering 'fish-finger' sandwiches , we were dismayed to find , the fish-finger ultra slim (approx 1/4 inch) with a 'dark' filling , on canteen style bread (pre-packed sliced ) , a reasonably tasty salad & tartare sauce accompanied ! I presented these facts to 'the manager' , he laughed & said , well you have eaten it all ! I replied I didn't say it was inedible , but very sub-standard, after trying to appease with 'cakes' I accepted a 50% reduction ! All in all our worst dining experience !
