Ed's Diner - Selfridges in Birmingham

If you are visiting, go to Eds easy diner, lovely clean place to eat, and food was excellent/tasty,, we had a delicious brekfast, staff very friendly,, will be returning 😍

Great atmosphere and the burgers were to die for!! the only down side was the seasoned fries.... they were only warm and seemed like they had been sitting on the plate waiting for the rest of the dish to be cooked. but like I said the burger was DELICIOUS. nd a shout out for Nicole who was friendly, efficient and simply lovely.

Used to really like it here for our trips to the city as they had vegan options for my partner and decent portions, now they've removed the Moving Mountains vegan alternative hot dogs and burgers and there's only one vegan option, the chicken burger, which was probably the size (and tasted more or less the same) as a KFC burger for three times the cost. They've also reduced the number of sides you can have to one, leaving us with only a comically small burger and a pot of coleslaw about the same size for £17.00. Left disappointed and hungry, and will not be returning.

I was seated quickly, the service was quick and efficient. The restaurant was lovely and clean and the food was delicious! I was served by Fil, who was very friendly and professional and had Caesar Salad with a Coleslaw side 10/10

Visited at the weekend for brunch. Ordered two of Ed’s Flying Start breakfasts and two fried chicken and waffle breakfasts. Small portions was the first thing that sprung to mind when breakfast was served. Quickly followed by yuk, what a bland, lukewarm, dried and shrivelled up offering. I don’t know what cookery school the chef went to, but I would suggest further training is needed. Just the simplest of things … mushrooms .. how can you get them so wrong! I wish I had taken a photo actually as they were quite unbelievable. The waiter asked if everything was ok, and I said no. The mushrooms are inedible. He went away to get ‘some better ones’. The pot of mushrooms he returned with were just the same! Dried up, shrivelled and cold. The tiny offering of bacon was cooked to within an inch of its life. The sausage patty was tasteless. The toast had been pre-buttered and was soggy and cold. The only decent thing on the plate was the one hash brown. We all felt the same. And at £60 for four breakfasts and drinks, we left feeling hungry, disappointed and wishing we had gone to McDonalds for a Sausage and Egg McMuffin meal. Hence to say, we will not be returning!

If I could give this place a zero I would! My sister in law has recently undergone life saving surgery and as a result is only able to eat very small portions. She requested a meal from the children’s menu to be told “we are unable to sell you something off that” we explained why she required a smaller meal. The staff did not care one bit! She was totally embarrassed as she was discriminated against! How disgusting! I really do not understand the problem, we got up and left and will definitely not be returning.

The food is overpriced and expensive for example a normal sized milkshake is 7 pound and then you have to buy the meal separate and the food was so mediocre and the milkshake had no flavour but milk

Half the restaurant was roped off, unsure why as no where near closing time and was off putting for people wanting to dine in. The staff were all pleasant and efficient, they took our orders quickly, asked about allergies and served our food in decent time too. The food was average. Nothing special and on the verge of being over-cooked, unless it was dirty oil. It was also pretty tasteless. Liquid cheese is also very off putting unfortunately . For the price of the burgers I expected more-however. The pit stop did its job, however, we probably wouldn’t return-and being in Brum you wouldn’t need to eat somewhere more than once if it didn’t blow you away!!

Took my order at 9.30am for a children’s meal to be collected at 1.00pm. So friendly and accommodating. The food was ready on time and piping hot. There was no need to explain what I was needed as I was recognised and served straight away. Really generous order of chicken, fries and corn and an icy cold coke. Staff here are always so friendly and helpful. I was greeted either lots of smiles today x

Absolutely awful. We waited 40 minutes for a table even though there was free tables they just hadn’t been set then when we got seated I told them I had a severe peanut allergy and she dismissed it and didn’t write it down which was really concerning for me, finally got to order and nearly everything on the menu they didn’t have so ended up having to cancel our order and leave. The kitchen and staff seemed really unorganised and people were being served the wrong meals and not receiving what they wanted.

Good quality food. Decent prices. I personally don't like the idea that the restaurant automatically adds 10% discretionary service fee when you have to go to the till to place your order. I can accept the service fee when there is a table service but not in these circumstances. There was also a bit of a mix up with our drinks and dippers but nothing major. Good place for a quick bite

Food was re-heated and of poor quality. Taste was average. Service was inadequate; I had to explicitly ask for plates and cutlery and the person serving seemed unhappy to provide this basic request. Very low value for money. Compared to other Greek street food places, this is not the best in Birmingham. I would not recommend it to friends and family. Shame, as this restaurant has a prime location within Selfridges Birmingham.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Visited with my partner who has a nut allergy, considering there were no nuts on the menu this didn’t appear to be an issue. We were told to find our own seat, and once sat down, bluntly told we couldn’t be served because they will not serve any allergies. I appreciate this is possibly not the staff’s fault but completely ridiculous and discriminatory.

Fantastic Greek food from Kouzina. The Greek salad was to die for as was the baklava and complimentary orange cake. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Next time I'm in the bullring from Swansea I'll certainly be returning. Thank you guys

Food was quite bland and generic. The portions rather small and expensive for what you're getting. Definitely not worth it.

A great little restaurant in Selfridges Birmingham. I used to visit the one in walsall which sadly closed but it was fantastic. Highly recommend the Gyros and the starter dips (Tzatziki and Taramasalata).

Visited after the theatre. Welcomed and shown straight to a table. Waitress was courteous and prompt with the order and our food. The food was great, and washed down with a perfect strawberry milkshake. Looking forward to our next visit.

Extremely slow service, dirty tableware, hit and miss staff service. Found out they had messed up the order.After 40 mins waiting, we got a refund and left.

Shocked how small some of the meals were. Laughable. Half a chicken tender with two waffles for over £11.

My son treated me to a delicious lunch here today. 😋 Swift, polite service, tasty food and lots of it! Seriously the portions are huge!! Definitely coming back.

Worst experience of eating out that I think I’ve ever had. Waited at the entrance and nobody came. Had to go in and find someone to seat us. Ordered 3 meals and due to the high cost, expected them to be good. Son ordered vegan food only to be served a beef burger with bacon on it so we had to wait again for his to be cooked. Server who brought the meal out just stood there, pulled a face and went ‘yours?’ before slamming it down in front of my son. Honestly never encountered such a rude server. Paid extra to double his burger but they didn’t double it. They did discount it by 50% for the mix up though. Sides were tiny. 4 onion rings and half a handful of ‘loaded’ fries, which consisted of a drizzle of cheese sauce so little that you literally couldn’t taste it with a teaspoon of bacon bits on. Mac and cheese was around 2 tablespoons worth and tasted worse than a microwave ready meal version. One loaded fries had no spring onions and one burger came with no jalapeños, despite both being listed in the menu. The hot dog I ordered was cold. Because we’d already had to change the vegan burger and not wanting to cause anymore fuss, especially with such an intimidating server, I just ate it. Bread was not fresh and there was no pickles on it. Food was served without napkins and cutlery. I thought eating with your fingers was expected so just went ahead. Son got to his mac and cheese and my fingers covered with ketchup, at which point we realised they can’t possibly expect you to eat this way. No servers to ask as they were all standing around chatting to each other in the kitchen area so had to get up to ask for cutlery, to be told we should just wait and it’ll come with the food… which we’d already been served ages ago. In the booth next to us, which nobody was sat in, even at the start of our visit, there was a half eaten burger and dirty napkins on the floor which nobody cleaned up because they were far more interested in gossiping with each other. Horrific experience from start to finish. PLEASE don’t waste your time or money here.

Went there with my fam, service not good at all, we paid a lot for food that wasn't cooked properly. The only good thing was the fries. Not recommend

Lovely food and experience but a special mention to Ionela, Manisha and Cihan for accommodating a request by allowing us to celebrate our little boy’s birthday They helped by bringing out the cake and taking part in the celebrations - it was a lovely gesture and made a special day even better! Great food awful staff. Staff need to get some people skills! They then have the cheek to add a service charge when there is no service only bringing the food to your table don't even bring napkins or knives and forks which is a basic of eating a meal... then when you tell the manager about it she stands there not even bothered about it

Dined there on Sunday 25th June had the most wonderful platter food was excellent your staff so friendly I’ve told so many friends to try it I shall return I was in catering for over 40 years & I know good food etc when I taste it . It was great . Cathy

Food was ok, nothing amazing but definitely above average and fresh. Service was extremely poor: at 18:25 I was told off by the staff as I should not order due to not being sat down by one of them as they will close in 5 minutes (even if online it states it closes at 19:00 not 18:30). Was only able to chose from 2 things on the menu as they were only offering those ‘so close to closing time’. Once I paid for two of the same item I was told there is only enough for one. So I had to take one each, I chose to have one there and one to take home. I was firstly given the one to eat there without any sort of cutlery or napkins so left with dirty hands. Overall I would recommend for the food as price/quality is good, but at least when I was there staff was a bit let down.

The children and I ate here for lunch and we still discuss it now. The food was delicious and plenty! It maybe pricey but you are at Selfridges and you receive a full platter of delightful food. The service was good, the lady was very helpful with the menu and very friendly. It’s a busy place so we were very glad we got a seat. Excellent!

Great food made fresh, we were the last customers of the day but the staff were more than happy to fit us in.

We were in Birmingham trying to find somewhere for lunch and all decided on here. You have to leave your name and number with the waitress to get in the que for a table. That was about 30 minutes, Once we got in it was about the same again to wait for the food. However once it got to the table it was well worth it, we had a child’s meal a vegan meal and a vegetarian it was great we all enjoyed it and the waiter apologised for the delay. We would definitely come again but maybe not on a Saturday lunch time.

The best greek food i had after moving to England, it was hard to find a greek restaurant that reminded me of home but finally found it.

Had went in the other day with my family. The food was amazing and the service was quick and everyone was friendly. The kids absolutely loved the food as so did we! Decent portion sizes for all and they also had a good variety of veggie options. Defo recommend going if you want something hot and filling! Thank you!

Popped into Selfridge's for some shopping and was immediately attracted to the blue and white feature wall of Kouzina. The decor is lovely but nothing compared to the food! I had a platter with chicken souvlaki, flatbread, salad, slaw and chips with a dip. My partner had the vegan falafel wrap. The platter was delicious and rather generous as I found myself struggling to finish, the wife was in love with the vegan wrap, usually vegan options come a little sparse. Not the case here! It came filled with slaw, tomatoes, onions, falafels and chips on a base of houmous then drizzled with tahini and garnished with parsley. The staff were friendly and happy to accommodate dietary requirements, definitely a worthwhile visit if you're popping into Selfridge's!!

Let me start firstly with the food! I went there with my wife to have a nice Greek lunch, and we sat down on the chair was waiting, and waiting, and waiting, then someone come to us telling if we want to order we need to go to the counter to get food! We said OK let's go there and order. So we ordered mix grill for one was £18.35 I believe or something 🤔 I said to wife ohhh more than enough for both of us 😅 was telling. Well when we picked up the food, I swear my cat would be still hungry after that was that small! My wife was smiling and told me we are diet today!! 😄 🤣. Never mind.... First bite chicken souvlaki raw pink!! Take it back ohhhh you have to see excuses and apology from them, they tried to telling me the chicken is cooked just is pink and rubbery. When I said I'm a chef face went from white to red and purple!! They given chicken gyros in a small 8oz pot, because wasn't was more in it. So I said to wife OK let's forget let's ask for a bill, when they send the bill it was 12% service charge added to the bill without asking for it, but nowhere advertised it!! I completely understand if you don't need to go to order food, they coming to you instead yes makes sense, but no my friend. Never again!!! And just bear in mind to all who read this review, you will never ever will be eating from there freshly made food because its pre cooked maybe a day before and keept in hot cupboard everything, and was look warm. We visited on a Friday evening and due to a show being on it was busy and we did have to wait 10 minutes for a table, however the staff were all friendly and really chatty which made waiting go very quick. As soon as we sat down our drinks and food were ordered and it was served within 15 minutes! The food was delicious could eat there every night and would definitely recommend.

Had been shopping in selfridges all morning and got hungry so decided to stop at kouzina for some food I grew up and lived in Cyprus for 12 years so I have alot of love for Cypriot and Greek food. We Ordered the big fat Greek Platter to share for 2x people Was definitely expecting alot more food for almost £40 The Food wasn't bad but was lacking some flavours Tzatziki dip is my ultimate favourite but sadly it just Tasted like Greek yogurt on its own. The staff were slow & seemed quite bored but still left a tip as its the new year

I went at lunch time during the Tory Party conference being held on the other side of the canal. I was assured that my needs as a coeliac could be met. My coffee arrived shortly after the order was given and the food was tremendous. There weren't many people in there. I did overhear a conversation in which a waitress confirmed that they had difficulty finding staff.

AVOID !! Over priced for the food quality, We asked for some additional wrap sauce and was charged nearly £5, rushed service and expect to be ignored when ordering overwork understaffed. you get forced to pay for a bad service. Avoid ! You can spend the same amount on much better quailty food and dining experience.

We managed to get the last table. Wish we hadn't. Waiter took our order then said there would be a "little" wait for our food. I said that was fine as long as we got our hot drinks. How long do you have to wait for a hot drink! About 20 minutes later, got our hot drinks. Food about another 15 minutes later. No offer of discount for awful service. Food wasn't bad when we got it but to be honest we were just about to get up and go.

Visited for lunch. Eventually a waitress took our order Long wait for drinks which arrived cold. 40 min wait for food. Items missing the rest cold and inedible. We were given a discount after complaining but sadly this would not make us return. Poor show for such a great location in central Birmingham.

Lovely variety of food for breakfast and came quickly, the cost is totally reasonable and the staff are all friendly and helpful.

This is NOT a good quality Greek restaurant. I ordered the pork belly burger as a change to the regular souvlaki. The photograph on the menu was very misleading as I received a brioche bun with some chunks of pork gyros and lots of onion. The whole dish lacked flavor and few hours later I feel sick and nauseous. This restaurant is not worth your money, just because it is located in Selfridges it does not guarantee authenticity and quality. Second star is for the feta & oregano on chips which were the only ingredients on the plate that did not disappoint.

Called into this place for a meal, with plenty of tables and spaces. Got seated very quickly and after a bit of a wait a waitress finally came to take our order. Due to no sausages, the person I was with, was asked if she would like extra bacon as a compromise on her traditional breakfast to which she replied yes. After a wait of about 12 minutes, the food finally arrived. The traditional breakfast was quite small and we are not sure if there was any extra bacon! We had ordered drinks but they did not arrive with the order they only arrived after we had finished eating and after we had had to ask again for them. On the bill, listed between the food items is a £1.00 donation for one of Selfridges' charities which is not told to you unless you ask. Would I go into this place again? No.

Food was really nice. Staff were incredibly welcoming and polite. The slippy spinning trays instead of plates made it difficult to keep your food still. Would recommend trying this place to a friend.

We really enjoyed our meal a really authentic Greek experience.. The service was brilliant 'Chan' and the staff were so friendly and spent time explaining and helping with the order... Very impressed and will have no qualms in recommending Kouzina to anyone

As it was a Friday evening (6pm) I asked the girl that was the hostess if they have a table available for a party of 9 at 7.30pm. She said they do, so I continued my shopping and came back with my family at 7.30pm. When we came back she looked at us and said “we have a table available but we don’t have that much food - do you know what you are eating roughly?” We all looked at each other thinking that this is a silly question, so she proceeded into saying “we will be closing soon as well” where it says on Google that they close at 21.30. They were clearly unorganised, and did not want to work. The store had two tables sitting, and only one guy cooking - her being the hostess. Unacceptable treatment and waste of our time as I checked before I brought my whole friends and family. Humiliating and ridiculous.

After a long wait for our food, Clive the manager was very accommodating and apologetic about this. Despite them being busy and short staffed, the customer service was still very good.The food was amazing and was worth the wait!

Visited Birmingham for the first time and had a delicious lunch here. Glad we didn’t read the older reviews here beforehand, the team must have listened and learned from the feedback. Very friendly and attentive staff. Excellent wraps and chips, falafel and tzatziki. Yes pricier as based in Selfridges and not a big chain, but highly recommended.

Had dinner here during a layover between trains in Birmingham. Food was good and affordable. Service from Shante was excellent!

Accommodated me last minute on Sunday, had the best Dolmades Feta chips and fresh flatbread even though I was last in, my food was fresh and tasty, I even enjoyed a small cheeky Mythos.. will definitely go again next time I go shopping.. and look forward to it!

Worst restaurant that I have ever been Rude staff they don't help you. The boy that came to serves us he didn't know anything about the menu and also the food. The workers are so mean. There are not happy about there costumers. They look at you like u steal something from them. NO WORTHING FOR UR MONEY JUST GO IN A GREEK RESTAURANT WHICH DESERVES UR RESPECT AND ALSO UR MONEY.

Popped in for a quick bite on a Saturday for lunch. Located on the bottom floor inside selfridges. It took a while to be greeted and seated by the waiter and even longer to get a menu. 15mins later, we went to grab our own menu, for the chef to rush over and told us that we should await to be seated. After waiting a further 30 mins we had to flag another waiter to take our order. And after over an hour, we finally had our food. I ordered the chicken wrap and husband had the Greek sausage wrap. Both tasted ok, not awful, a bit salty, but nothing to rave about. Overall it was poor service, the food was ok and wouldn’t be rushing to go back.

I would go back here in a heartbeat as the Greek food was insanely good for the price. Everything tastes mostly authentic in comparison to other Greek places that I've been to in the last few years and the Hummus is especially great. I'd say the service could be slightly better from the team all around, just a bit more attentive and reactionary, but overall everything was pretty good and I'd definitely return.

We visited here for lunch yesterday, a busy Sunday lunchtime. The food was delicious and great value for money. The service was outstanding. Quite a young team, but very polished. The waiters were non pushy, friendly and with impeccable manners. Non-pretentious, relaxed atmosphere with good food and great staff.

We stopped for lunch on a weekend. The service was slow. The knives and forks that were given to us were filthy and had not been washed at all! We ordered 2 gyros. The pork and sausage were bone-dry, like they had been sitting in a warmer for a few hours. We were very disappointed and wouldn't go back.

This little Greek restaurant may be difficult to find as it's situated within the food hall on the ground floor of Selfridges. The wife and I had a very enjoyable meal here coupled with friendly and efficient service. Hard to fault. Update: Until today's visit, whilst the food was OK sadly the service was a bit of a shambles. Apparently two staff didn't turn up. However I have never had a problem here before and the manager apologised profusely and made a generous gesture. Things can go wrong and I have to give them credit for how they tried to put it right. We'll be back.

Went to Ed’s Diner yesterday Was very happy with the food and service we received I went for the Ed’s Big breakfast which was very good And my wife had the potato skins also very good. The Milkshake was delicious also. Would Definitely return again...

Such slow service. Wouldn’t recommend coming here unless it was opening time. It took them 30 minutes to even acknowledge us and take our drinks order and then a ridiculous wait for food.

Not good waited ages for a 2x wraps hardly any meat, mostly cabbage! Very dry, and all for £35.00

Food was great Ordered chicken and pork platter with fresh salad. Really healthy options too and an authentic greek feeling. It was really busy when we visited but the staff worked great together to keep the service flowing and Rial the waitress welcomed us with a friendly presence, kept us updated about our food and checked on us. We were very satisfied despite the long wait times. The restaurant is quite cramped but I understand there was a lot of customers that day.

A proper taste of Greek food. I cannot recommend it enough. The portion sizes were generous and well prepared. Excellent service and good value for money. A must visit if you love Greek food and a great introduction if you've never tried it.

Very unhygienic place. glasses looked as though they had not been washed same with cutlery. Everything was disgusting and cheap. Highly recommend not coming here.

Edible but tasteless, slow service (not busy) and to top it off a 12.5% service charge which we asked to be refunded. Won't be returning. You know it's bad when the staff don't even ask how your food is....

First time have Greek food and it was delicious. The staff were so lovely and accomodating of our large party, getting us all seated shortly after arrival. The food was great value for money and I can't wait to go back to Birmingham to try more of their menu. Only managed to take a picture of my friends having the sharing platter for two, but all of our meals looked incredible. 100% recommend there's plenty of variety on the menu for everyone

We had the big fat veggie Greek platter, plus an extra side salad Between the three. Generous portion sizes, simple well seasoned food.

we went there for father's day , the service leaves a lot to desire for , i t took us 15 minutes to sit down although they had empty tables , it took further 20 minutes for some one to come to us to take orders , my wife questioned one of the girls on the shop floor , she said she will be 1 minute and carried on cleaning , she eventually came to us with no apology as we were inconvenient to her , took our orders but she didn't go to the kitchen with it , she took further 3 orders before she goes to the kitchen with them , the food came in stages but quality was good , at the time of the payment , they charge us £4.49 discretionary gratitude , which i found insulting , cant say i will ever go back or recommend some one to go there , as a customer to Selfridges , i do expect the service that associate with the name

Tried the veg platter. Pretty expensive. Shame not halal as the kebabs looked really juicy. Overall food is good yes however way to expensive for what we was given. Platter and 2 drinks came up to 45 pounds. Plater was mostly chips.
