Went for my sons birthday. Food was amazing, and so was the service

It’s not that often we go out on a date night, but this restaurant ticked so many boxes my wife wants to come back every week.

Lovely food and staff! However felt slighty rushed as we kept having our plates taken away every 5 minutes. However it was our anniversary and got a complimentary cake so thankyou guys! Very lovely place to eat x

Really amazing in every metric. Staff make you feel welcome from the start until you leave. The food was truly delicious. I'd advice anyone to experience Edo Asia now as a first recommendation for somewhere to eat in Southampton.

We had our order from this restaurant. After awhile 3 of us got very bad stomach pain and diarrhoea for that Saturday. So we couldn't enjoy night out. Instead we had to go back to our home. Keep away...

Came here for a friends birthday so the pressure was already on however, the warm welcome at reception and the really impressive decoration was a good first impression. Made better by the service given by Cindy - she was the best. The food was so impressive, such amazing flavours and came out really quick. Whole night was made by Cindy though I cannot recommend coming here enough

This is by far the best Asian meal I’ve had in years we chose set dinner for two at £45 pound a head it was terrific the mixture of starters filled the table the main course the beef was amazing proper succulent fillet with amazing spices and vegetables the service was impeccable lovely friendly waitresses the only downside was the continuous drone of electric awful music needs something more authentic

Came here with some friends to celebrate my birthday and we had just the best time. Firstly the place looks amazing. I mean seriously… AMAZING. Secondly the food platters also looked amazing. I’m talking gasp out loud level. Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, the food tasted amazing. Seriously good food. It was simply delicious. The cocktails were also great, definitely worth arriving early for and the service we received was perfect. Everyone was so efficient, friendly and made the whole experience a sheer joy. Possibly one of the best places I have ever eaten in ever.

What a stunning place! It didn’t feel like we were in Southampton, the atmosphere was amazing. What really stood out was the service, we were served by Cindy and she went above and beyond. She was so knowledgeable about the food and very attentive throughout the evening! At the time of the booking it was mentioned that it was a dinner to celebrate a birthday and a graduation, when was time for the dessert, Cindy came out with 2 slices of cheesecake, one saying happy birthday and one for happy graduation! Every single detail was perfect!!! We will definitely be back!! Thank you so much Cindy

We had a great meal at Edo Asia, absolutely couldn’t fault it. The service was incredibly quick and the staff were so friendly and helpful even on a busy Friday evening. We were a group of 4 so ordered 2 different set menus to share and we had a wide range of dishes. The presentation of the food was really fun and every dish was amazing, there wasn’t a single one that we didn’t like. The cocktails were really good too and reasonably priced. We are very much looking forward to coming back!

We had cocktails that were great and tried several dishes that were all fresh, quick and tasty. Incredible experience. A live DJ providing an excellent sound track ina deeply darkened room with celestial ceiling creates a great dining experience. The food was perfect in every way, portion size was great, the tastes amazing and well balanced. The server was clearly very proud of the food and deeply engaging on recommendations and option. Go hungry and enjoy the amazing variety.

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE COELIAC My partner visited this restaurant earlier on this evening with a friend, when they arrived they specifically asked for a gluten free menu. She was advised that the allergies were listed clear on the menu, (which they were) and they also provided an actual allergen guide with a breakdown of what foods have different allergens. She sat down and ordered her food, which were all gluten free options from the menu. She decided to go for a few small dishes to try, The waiter didn’t write any of the order down at this point. When the food arrived my partner was skeptical about one dish as part of it looked like it had a batter coating, and being coeliac it’s always a worry eating something containing gluten. (The dish ordered was a Spicy tuna roll). At this point they requested gluten free soy sauce. They called the waiter over to 100% confirm the dish was gluten free and they advised the waiter she was coeliac. The waiter advised the dish was gluten free and safe to eat. So she proceeded to eat. When the bill was provided my partner seen that the waiter had got the order wrong and instead of bringing over a spicy tuna roll, she in fact bought over a spider roll. My partner then made this clear before paying that the wrong dish was ordered. The waiter was shocked and apologised, admitted blame, and then took the item off the bill. It was at this point my partner then asked again whether it was gluten free and the waiter confirmed again that it was (INCORRECT INFORMATION). When my partner left, she checked the menu outside and in fact the dish she had been given did contain gluten. VERY BAD SERVICE from the waiter who provided incorrect allergen information multiple times. Would not recommend to anyone with allergies.

CELIACS BEWARE (or any allergy for that matter) Repeating several times that my friend is celiac and ordering a GF option. The waitress did not write our order down. They brought over our food and assured that it was correct and her meal GF. The bill was handed over at the end and to our confusion it listed a different meal which was not GF at all. The waitress said they did confuse the order but believed it to be GF. It was upon further investigation that we found out this did indeed contain gluten. This is unacceptable, allergies should be taken seriously. This has a huge effect on her health.

I think I will definitely want to go back for the stunning ambience and food at Edo Asia. I tried the mouthwatering takoyaki balls with the most delicate wagyu beef rice ever. I was also able to taste some salmon fried rice which was just as sumptuous. The ambience is breath-taking and the staff is love. Highly recommend the place.

First visit for us two from a party of four……. Looked after on arrival having booked on line weeks before. Atmosphere ? - excellent. Service levels throughout the Friday evening ? - appropriate & very good. Drink menu choices - well above average & all presented very well. Food menu selection inspired , great fresh quality & again presented beyond compare. Value ? - as expected ; good , as the experience & occasion fits the bill 🤔. Re-visit / recommend ? - yes , certainly. Enjoy.

We visited Edu Asia on Saturday 29th June. We hadn’t booked but they there was a free table. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We were given enough time to decide what we wanted and when the food came, we were very impressed. All the meals were delicious and very well presented. The sweets were fantastic and we will definitely be going back

Service was not as expect, durty tables, durty toilets, but was looking so beautifull place. They steal our pictures and videos from social media. They did ask or anything. We are taken them to court. If they dont remove all stolen content.

Couldn't fault the service, food or drinks. All staff, especially our server, were very attentive and polite. A very nice atmosphere and decor. Scallops in particular were cooked to perfection and all dishes came out in a timely manner. And even a lovely unexpected surprise for my partner who was celebrating his birthday. Thank you very much EdoAsia we will definitely be recommending this restaraunt and we will be coming back here again.

An amazing restaurant in the heart of Southampton. The place to go for some tasty sushi!🤤 The atmosphere, fantastic! And the staff, were amazing, friendly and informative with any questions we had. I went about 4 weeks ago from the posting of this review and I still think about the sushi I had, the presentation was so impressive, and can’t forget about the wonderful atmosphere. The only off put and thing that bothers me to this day was the 12.5% discretionary service charge! Why more restaurants are adding these and also at such a high percentage is beyond me, like I said it’s slightly off putting and holding me back rushing going again.

I was blown away by this new restaurant in Southampton. Having visited their sister restaurant before I knew a little of what to expect from the interior decor but I was still blown away by how amazing everything looked inside. It was such a wonderful atmosphere. Its quite dark inside so if you don't like that, this may not be the place for you but I really enjoyed it as well as the star effect on the ceiling. The food was incredible, much better than the food in their sister restaurant in my opinion. Every dish was fantastic!! The service was also amazing, they made you feel as though you were in a very very fancy restaurant. Best dish by a mile was the unagi rice!! Would definitely visit again

Service was fantastic. Really worth noting! Food was good, but cocktails were the real standout. I had Thai & Dry and it was fantastic. Partner had the Miso Old Fashioned and - as a whiskey and old fashioned aficionado - he loved it too. Definitely recommend for food but especially if you're just wanting to have a delicious drink and you sit around the front.

You can tell this is the sister restaurant of Shanghai 1814 as the decor is just as spectacular here, makes you feel like you aren't in Southampton. The DJ at the end of the restaurant is a strange touch, but the music suited the atmosphere. Some of our group did struggle with the lighting slightly, so bring your glasses and phone torch if you have bad eyes. The staff were a little slow initially, but this picked up. If you are drinking Asahi, half pints are much better value- the staff were aware of this, so unsure if this is a mistake or intentional. The menu is designed to be shared by the table, so the food varies from small plates to sharing dishes, but the staff were knowledgeable if you ask. The aim is that dishes come out as they are ready, but you can choose to have them come out separately as "starters" and "mains" if you wish. The variety on offer is huge, which makes the quality of the food even more surprising. The pricing varies a lot depending on the ingredients for each dish, for example the sushi rolls are cheaper and fish is expensive. Everyone enjoyed their dishes, all the flavours were amazing, a must visit if you love your food. I will definitely be back as there is so much more to try and the set menus sound amazing!

My friends been telling about this place for ages, so I planned my girls trip from Manchester and we decided to come one of the Wednesdays in February. First of all, I want to say massive WOW to the staff, design and service. Food presentation was spectacular, our waitress was super lovely and we had great time in the restaurant, what I can’t say about the bar….. Okay, before I’m gonna say all the negative staff I want to clarify, don’t blame any of the staff, management or restaurant in general, they doing great job and I understand sometimes is hard to understand from the begging who you employing. Ladies, next part it is to warn you for your visit. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL BAR SUPERVISOR/MANAGER SHOULD BE DO FLIRT OR BLOODY TOUCH MY HAND DURING MY DRINKS WITH GIRLS IN THE BAR. Okay, from begging…. We decided to have some drinks in the bar before go to the restaurant. It was old Italian guy there making drinks for us (cocktails great by the way, I do recommends Cherry Lychee). He start smiling to us, giving us some flirty comment. At first, I thought it is just way of customer service, little bit uncomfortable but it’s fine. But then, he started saying some things like “lady like me can’t be single anyway”, or some questions about my dates before, some his career stories and by the way we haven’t been ASKING HIM ANYTHING, we just want to enjoy out girls talks. When I stopped talk to him because I want my privacy back he started to touch my hand to grab my attention, excuse me…. WTF Nevel felt so uncomfortable in my life and doesn’t matter how I liked the restaurant I’ll never come back until this person is there. To all ladies out there, please make sure man respect your boundaries and please be careful with this person. Thanks to Susan (she is the owner) for her great replies and way how she was supporting my complain emails.

Food was great! Really enjoy Shanghai 1814, so I knew the sister restaurant would have to live up to the hype :) The servers were very attentive, I didn't deduct a star for lack of assistance, but actually because it was too much. I think that's a preference thing, as some others may really appreciate that level of detail. Take it with a pinch of salt. Overall, definitely worth going to try out!

First time coming to edo asia, recommended from a work colleague, as soon as i walked in.. I was instantly amazed; decor, atmosphere & vibes was amazing. Food & drink was brilliant! Service was great also! I will definitely be returning! Was left in awe!

The restaurant itself is absolutely incredible, visually I've never been to a more beautiful restaurant, every little detail is just insane. We went for a birthday meal and there was about 20 of us so I understand that can be a little overwhelming for the staff but I did notice our main server was a little stressed and it created a bit of a weird atmosphere but the rest of the servers and staff were amazing. The food and drinks are really expensive but you do pay for quality, I don't know if I would say it was the best food ever ever had but still 100% worth a visit and for a special occasion.

First time visit. Inside looks great, very dark with lots of cool lighting. Ordered small plates and mains, all tasted good. Loses a mark for service. Chicken dish and rice was served but had to wait another 15 minutes for sushi. We could see the waitress looking and chasing this up twice with the kitchen so it was clear it should not have taken that long. We also ordered more drinks whilst eating but these came once we had finished eating and the table had been cleared. Overall impressed and would return.

We visited last night as a 4 and from the moment we arrived we were looked after to the highest quality. Firstly i would like to say how beautiful this restaurant is and the vibe and atmosphere is just wow! The cocktails were incredible and arrived within minutes of ordering which was a surprise given how busy it was. Our waiter was patient, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, really tasty and presentation was superb. We were booked in at 6:15 in a booth and didn’t leave until 10:30 - not at any point did we feel rushed or that our table was required for another sitting. We loved every second of it and cannot wait to show all of our friends. I have eaten in a lot of nice places but for me, this tops them all.

This was my first visit to this place and all I can I say is what a find. The food is amazing, the server asked if we wanted everything out at the same time or when it was ready. We asked for things to come when they are ready and each dish was superb. We finished with the Wagyu Steak and all I can say is oh my god! Worth every penny. Definitely the best thing I have ever tasted. The service was excellent nothing was too much and they were nothing but polite. I can’t recommend this place enough 1000/10

my new favourite place! the atmosphere here is absolutely incredible - stunning interior. the staff were so lovely - our waitress, Chong was so efficient and friendly - made sure to check about our food (as a celiac) and the food and drinks were delicious! can’t recommend enough!

5 stars if you like somewhere fancy. Food is great! Very friendly staff, we visited not long after opening and felt there was maybe a few teething problems but nothing that ruined our visit. Will definitely revisit.

Stunning dinning experience. The service is immaculate, the ambience superb. Food arrived quickly and was every bit as fantastic as everything else surrounding us. We had the tori kara-age (in the Swan plate), crispy chilli lotus root slices, the california roll, the garden time roll, and the Taiwanese popcorn chicken. I had a "raindrop cake" dessert, which was not a cake at all but it was very impressive, and my partner had the "sakura bomb". We will definitely be visiting again soon!

AMAZING! I have been here a few times with 2 friends and the food, vibe and service was fantastic. But I am leaving this review for my recent birthday dinner I had with my family (8 of us). They travelled down from London and loved it just as much as I did. The experience from start to finish was outstanding- Valerie, the host is the loveliest lady and made sure everything was just as I wanted. We were served by what I believe is the head waiter - he was super attentive and made sure everything was perfect (we had a some dietary requirements, also bday cake etc). I was unsure about the set party menu because the a la carte is sooo good, but it was perfect! There was a great amount of food and I was even able to take some home after as we couldn’t finish it all - well worth every penny. I cant recommend this place enough, the whole vibe is stunning and the food, drinks and service is absolutely sensational. I will be back with more friends as soon as possible!

I don’t think I will visit this place ever again also won’t be recommending it to anyone! A specially one of the staff (female) was extremely rude and aggressive and not welcoming towards us. I have to say she ruined our evening!!!!

This restaurant is al about theatre. Food was tasteless. The Salmon was overcooked and drained in sauce. Sushi rice was far too sticky. Waiters rush you so they can get the second seating in. When you complain about the over cooked Salmon al they say is eat it with the sauce. No apology what’s so ever or any indication to replace your dish. Clients are in awe because of the theatre they create when serving your food and that is all they really about. Creating theatre!

My best dining experience? Possibly. Decor is mind blowing. When you walk in, you instantly forget about the outside world. Service has a strong essence of professionalism, and very attentive. Fish was super fresh and the presentation is something else. What an experience! Especially when you’re not expecting it. Every detail has been thought of. You know they’ve put a lot of thought into everything. Even the bathroom is pleasant. It is dark and the music is modern and slightly loud. That’s perfect for me though. We immediately asked to be moved tables as we were under a speaker and also requested that the music be turned down. Let's be clear it was 6:15pm and Valentines day. We were expecting chilled ambience not loud hardcore (and not very good) dance music. The music was briefly turned down but then back up again so I approached the front desk to explain that I was struggling with sensory overload (I have ADHD) and that I needed the music to be much less loud. Allegedly the music was then turned down a little but remained torturously loud so my partner complained again and this time confirmed we would be leaving if the music didn't change and become quieter. At this point, having been previously told that they had “no control” over the music another playlist of music was selected which was more chilled and quiter. On to the service, the staff were all lovely and friendly, but it took us half an hour to get a drink. We had food before we received our cocktails. There was a air of total chaos. Food wise, our starters and sushi were really great. Our mains were appalling and of the standard expected at a cheap buffet. Our total bill was £190. The beef fillet stir fry with Cumin had been so over powered with cumin and no other flavour it was ruined. It came with a bowl of tasteless egg fried rice and chicken skewers which were tough and lacked flavour. All in all a very disappointing experience. Management take note When people go to a restaurant they are expecting restaurant ambience NOT ear torture night club vibes. It is YOUR responsibility to be inclusive to everyone and consider those with sensory issues. If you're going to charge premium prices all the food needs to be premium not just the sushi. Put more staff on your cocktail bar so drinks come out before the food.

Fantastic place with ery pleasant relaxing atmosphere. Food is good and very tasty only the conctails wasn't great really.

We went for a birthday celebration. Fantastic restaurant from every perspective. Beautiful decor, fantastic food, and great service. Between the 4 of us we had a variety of dishes and none disappointed. I would recommend the Red Tiger Rolls…. Beautiful flavour. And as the driver I had the Hotel Tropicana to drink… fantastic! Will definitely go again.

Fantastic dining experience! We will definitely be returning to try more of the menu, the food was incredible (would recommend the black cod). What makes this restaurant really stand out though is the beautiful interior and atmosphere. The service was great mainly from the barman called Ben and our waiter, Chong. They were both great.

Nice decor , sashimi was ok if not cut a bit too thick, cocktail good. Service was very fast and rushed that as soon as our starters were taken our mains arrived. Staff were attentive. Black cod at £49 is Nobu money but not Nobu quality . Portion was very small and not as flavour some as I’ve had . Yeah it’s ok but I prefer their sister restaurant Shanghai 1814. It’s not Hakkisan or Nobu but it’s not bad for Southampton .

This is a modern London-esque restaurant with no expense spared on decor i.e very attractive mood lighting but otherwise a bit dark. The background techno music playing is too loud for dining and the restaurant is uncomfortably warm. The food was nice and there were lots of vegan options which is great to see - the vegan Garden Time Roll (pictured) was my favourite. BUT the food is hugely overpriced. We shared four plates of veg sushi and had another tuna sushi, and then we had mains. The black cod dish (also pictured) my partner had is not worth £50; there were three small slices of cod and a few bits of veg. We enjoy nice food so don't mind spending the money when the food is really good, but Edo Asia isn't offering up anything new and at £290 for three of us, I can't understand why people are saying this place is value for money. It's a beautiful restaurant and the staff are all working very hard so can't fault them for that, however I can't help but feel this place is style over substance.

This is a beautiful restaurant, great vibe and lovely staff, the drinks menu is great. I wasn't hugely impressed by the food however it was really busy.

My husband took me here as a birthday surprise and we were all very impressed. Everything about this restaurant adds to the overall experience. The food is excellent and presented beautifully the service is attentive but not in an over the top way and the decor & setting is the icing on the cake. If you haven’t yet been here you must give it a try!

Such a cool place! We had a lovely evening and the staff was soo kind and really made an effort for us to have a good time. Zaneta was our waitress and she was lovely with excellent service! Will definetly be returning.

We went to Edo Asia for a date night, and probably our last one for a while. My fiance is pregnant. We are are expecting in a few weeks so we wanted a special night. And we had the perfect evening. The staff were attentive and really funny, very helpful with the menu and helping my fiance pick the perfect choices to avoid anything she shouldn't eat. The food was absolutely fantastic in every way. The decor and music were perfect and felt very upper-class. The entire experience made for a perfect evening! Thankyou to every one of the staff who we encountered you made it the perfect evening for us. We will return!
