Edenbank Hotel in Dumfries & Galloway

We decided on an early lunch so were the second table in a very quiet bar, ordered lunch with a nice friendly waitress who came back after a few minutes to say the soup had changed but it wasn't to our taste. Still not sure how they'd run out of soup so early! The main courses were piping hot and tasty.

A really nice varied menu, and when they said a dish was a little spicy, they were correct, chicken and haggis was in a lovely sauce. Good helpings as well, you won't go home hungry.

Went along to a function at this hotel and noted that there were two parties in the hotel on the same night. Meal was very, very good, main course arrived piping hot and the servings did not disappoint. Staff were friendly and the cost of drinks at the bar was sensible. Look forward to going back there.

Having eaten here previously I have always liked the food presented on the a la carte menu. Although on the expensive side, the quality and quantity of food has always been good. The same cannot be said for the christmas menu I'm afraid. Apart from the soup which was nice, everything else was disappointing and rather bland. Portion sizes were also very small for £23 a head.

Wow, I would agree with everyone here that the food is great! However, it is also a very cosy and friendly hotel right in the heart of town. We loved our stay here. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The bar and food were excellent and the price very reasonable. Breakfast in the morning is the best I’ve ever eaten and I’ve eaten in many places! Look no further as this is the hotel for you:)

it looks like a B & B but inside is a super restaurant where the locals all eat --traditional dishes like beef stroganoff and steaks but much more and at good value prices--worth looking for!

This was our first visit to the Edenbank Hotel via family recommendation. How right they were! Great service from pleasant young staff, wide selection on the dinner menu. Prompt delivery of our six meals...of course we all chose something different. I opted for the Beef Stroganoff and it was simply delicious. I asked for half price and half chips....but it seemed like I got a full portion of both. The portions all round were not for the faint hearted! I declined dessert opting for coffee, however sadly the quality of the coffee was poor. Overall I would recommend this venue to anyone but suggest booking first. Edenbank.....hold on to your good Chef/ Cook!!

Been here a few times now and it's my go to place for Sunday lunch. Nice elegant setting, spacious seating and the food is lovely, never had a bad meal. I like that they always have lots of variety and specials on in addition to the main menu. Also nice loos.

Food was nice but my burger and a few chips was not worth the £14 price tag! A little salad or coleslaw goes along way! We were not checked on once or asked if meal was ok, not even when we paid! Would not rush back.

Food was good, friendly staff, first time visit and will visit again for sure. A good choice of menu for food at least, a little short on options for drinks. Overall good visit.

Went for dinner and thought the food was very good, service with a smile too and welcoming staff, first visit here for me, would call again.

Having been here, and having enjoyed meals previously, this visit proved to be extremely disappointing. First however, I feel it necessary to exclude the waiting staff. Each person who attended us was welcoming, attentive, friendly and helpful. Big thumbs up! The menu system and the food quality however, was disappointing in the extreme. Not enough to present a traditional menu, this was then augmented by not one, but THREE blackboards which were deposited on the table. The resultant effect was something which President Trump would have been proud of as he cast this gaze South. Feeling a little overwhelmed with such a choice, we were then astonished to find that the three elements of the wall were double sided! The resulting food, from such a wide selection was unsurprising...but nevertheless, still disappointing. Supermarket sides and frozen fillings provided a predictable and sorrowful lunch.

For years I passed this in auspicious hotel and never went in thinking it would be a guest house then a friend took me and boy what a joy the menu is far bigger than I imagined and the food was excellent the beef stroganoff to die for --generous portions and piping hot food efficiently served by friendly staff---I will be back and often

Came here on a Sunday with my partner and mother and we all enjoyed a lovely meal and drinks. Portion size is great, ambience great, service great, music great. Edenbank is fast becoming my go-to place for eating out!
