Fantastic service and very attentive. A bit disappointed with the platters . We had a meat one & a cheese one to share between 4 but there was very little meat or cheese on them. Not great value for the price.

Very nice restaurant and great service from the personnel. Very simple menu but prepared with lots of passion. We ordered the Today’s Special and were not disappointed.

Quite simply, never had a disappointing meal here!! Always freshly cooked and delicious! Washed down with a good house red! Lovely easy ambience. Friendly and attentive staff. Nothing too much trouble. Definitely my 'goto' when in Edinburgh.

Ecco Vino is a true gem in Edinburgh! I had the sea bass, and it was absolutely fantastic. The skin was perfectly crispy, and the fish was tender and full of flavor. The vegetables, especially the broccolini, were cooked just right – fresh and seasoned to perfection. The roast potatoes had a nice crunch on the outside and were soft inside, making the whole dish come together wonderfully. The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, a fantastic experience! I highly recommend this place if you're looking for quality seafood in a relaxed setting. I’ll definitely be returning!

Must have a reservation. Bread was a bit old and cold. Didn’t tell us our mains had the sides already so spent more money than needed. Otherwise great service and good vibe for a date.

A cozy restaurant very close to the station and also close to the Royal Mail. We came here on a recommendation and we really liked it, the food was simple but very well prepared and cooked. Highly recommended

We found Ecco Vino on our first night in Edinburgh and ate there 3 of 4 nights we spent in the city because we liked it that much. Menu is not extensive and space is limited but what the chef does, he does very well. The restaurant has a good everyday wine selection, daily specials, and a very friendly and helpful staff. We highly recommend.

Their wines, wine plate and mussels are great. The atmosphere is nice. The service is polite, fast and friendly.

My mum is visiting me and we had her birthday dinner at this little gem. Incredible evening, fantastic food and very accommodating with my diary allergy. The ambiance is lovely and warm. The staff is very welcoming, lovely and knowledgeable. The birthday girl had the most wonderful evening and definitely felt all the warmth and hospitality from the staff. 10/10 a must to visit and enjoy the wonderful dishes and gorgeous selection of wines. Thank you for making our evening so special! Will definitely be back soon!

Best mussels in the world, extremely nice staff!

The Pinsa Romana was excellent. The service was very fast. The restaurant has a great atmosphere.

In our opinion, clearly worth 5 stars. Very tasty, friendly, courteous service, nice atmosphere. Gladly again.

AVOID IF YOU ARE ASIAN. They just don't like our faces here. 1. We waited for more than 5 minutes while there was clearly lots tables available and the waiter was simply on his phone the whole time we were waiting. 2. My girlfriend wanted to order a bottle of wine so we asked our waiter for recommendations, how they taste like etc. He was just impatient the whole time and simply replied "Oh it's chardonnay.". Well I guess I can read it myself, no? 3. No one gave us any water until a waitress saw us playing around with our empty glasses and finally poured some water for us. 4. Unlike the folks next table who got asked if they wanted some pepper on their pasta when it's served. No one asked us anything and we had to ask for it. And then our impatient waiter came, took EXACTLY 2 grinds and left like it's a waste of his time.

The seafood pasta is perfect and the two guys are very enthusiastic!

Prendo la carbonara e di carbonara ha zero(direte normale in Scozia si, ma era di cattivo gusto proprio). Il risotto preso dalla mia ragazza pessimo anche auello. In più il conto alto per quello che abbiamo mangiato.

One of the best places for an evening meal in Edinburgh. I tried six other places during our holiday and this was in the top two. Very passable seafood linguine, very friendly waiters and excellent service. Reasonable value. Nice atmosphere, great location.

Ok. Overpriced. The carbonara was spaghetti with bits of bacon too little egg and cheese. Mushroom ravioli rather factory produced.

The fish, appetizers and presentation were great. See you again at the first opportunity.

We both had the Sea Bass and smoked haddock chowder which was outstanding! Absolutely done perfectly.

This was my favorite restaurant in Edinburg. The atmosphere was friendly and casual and the service was wonderful. The wine selection was impressive. I took the advice of our server and had the seafood linguini which was marvelous. I was with friends who had the soup on the day, mussels, the sea bass special, scallops appetizer, and all was wonderful. The linguini was homemade and fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. We finished our meal with tiramisu and lemon tarts which were really delicious as well. I suspect you just can’t go wrong with any selection. We all thought it was our best meal in Edinburg and thought the price was reasonable too. This restaurant is highly recommended.

I had an amazing experience at this Italian restaurant! The service here is top-notch—attentive, friendly, and professional. Our server, Tolga , was especially warm and welcoming, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. We ordered the Mussels Dish and a pasta, both of which were absolutely delicious. My wife and I came here from Belgium as tourists and while we were wondering where to eat, we came across this place. The waiters are friendly and respectful. A very warm family atmosphere is provided. The prices are pretty good and the food tastes pretty good too. If I come to this city again, I'm sure I'll eat here again!

Unfortunately I can’t give the best review because I got seafood poisoning from the mussels here and have only just fully recovered after antibiotics. Funnily enough it was my birthday early August in the evening. It was definitely after eating from here as I was violently sick 2 hours later and was visiting Edinburgh for the 1st time and found it extremely hard to get home as I was constantly puking. Which lasted a few days. Lovely staff but I think kitchen staff need to be aware. It got pretty serious. P.s. I can’t seem to reply to the message sent by the Ecco vino (owner) thanks for replying; but just to let you know I think it must be another person that emailed you about also getting food poisoning on that night; as that isn’t my name and I haven’t sent an email.

Nice wine bar with delicious Italian food. We went there twice in the 3 days of our stay and were warmly welcomed and the service was super friendly and hospitable. The Mussels, Risotto and the Seafood Linguine were truly exquisite. Worth going inside. You can already smell it from the streets through the open kitchen 👌🍷

Seafood place but there’re some good vegetarian options as well

Like many restaurants in Edinburgh, as soon as they see children they say there's no room. Despite the empty tables inside. Last night to be able to eat a meal we wandered on foot for 2 hours... with a 15 year old boy and a 7 year old. No comment to the restaurateurs, no comment to the city, no comment to the famous Scottish hospitality. The great thing is that in all the places, and in this one too, there is a sign hanging stating that children aged 5 and over can only enter to eat... (and God forbid)... but in reality they barely see children they make excuses. Shame!

One of my friends is vegetarian, and she found plenty of options to choose from, which was great. However, there were a few minor issues. Our food took a bit longer to arrive than we expected, but the staff apologized and offered us a free drink which was nice. Also, it was a bit noisy at times, but that’s probably because it’s a popular spot. All in all, I would highly recommend Ecco Vino if you’re in Edinburgh and looking for a nice place to eat. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait if it’s busy. Definitely will be coming back!

Sea food is delicious and affordable. But the feeling remains that you are being cheated on the price of a glass of wine.

Tried their seafood linguine and i liked the freshness of the seafood - prawns, mussels & squid. Their wine selection is wide so for sure you'll find your preference. In-house tiramisu is simple and authentic to taste. Highly recommend!

Food was quite good. Mushroom risotto and penne with pear and tellaggio were tasty. Service was choppy, with poor communication as we were seated promptly, but left waiting at table to be waited on while nearby tables seated after is were taken care of. Once we flagged someone down this was addressed, but after we received our food we were not checked in on until we flagged someone down for our bill. So food and wine, good. Service so so. Hopefully that can be addressed as the place has a very nice vibe.

Too much for a service charge. They were out of the specials at 19.30. Food is tasty.

Very small space, but the staff was friendly and the food was great! We were there in Early March- hubby had a pasta dish, best mussels I've ever had sooo fresh.

Terrible! Poor Service, long wait between ordering and delivery of food for not many people in restaurant. The waiter didn't even ask if we wanted a drink instead only wanted to take our food order The food arrived, calamari was well over cooked and like rubber bands. The prawns were like rubber well over cooked and both not edible . We ordered the seafood platter (£32 small) was meant to include either fish or Scallops. The Seafood platter contained neither, and the food was not hot. The bread was not fresh either. The staff was low attendance and never asked us how things were. The couple in the table next to us overheard our complaint and they also ordered the Seafood Plater and had the same issue, Calamari was over cooked rubber with no fish or Scallops. We did complain about the food at the end a refused to pay the service charge. The restaurant deducted 15% off the meal, but in reality it should have been 50% off. We will Never again be dining at Ecco Vino, Cockburn Street Edinburgh.

It has a very pleasant and pleasant place. The wine I drank was great and the pasta I ate was good, although not very different. The location is already in the center of the city. If the weather was nice, eating outside would be even more enjoyable. I would also like to thank Mr. Tolga, one of the employees, for his interest and concern.

We've been before and love the food (excellent) but were rushed through dinner and hurried along when we asked about dessert. Pre 6pm. Restaurant 75% empty but told the table was needed in 5 min so we left. Make sure you book. Even in a rainstorm before dinner time.

Why this store doesn't have 5.0 stars will always remain a mystery to me. Third time in Edinburgh, third time Ecco Vino. Whenever I'm here, I'll stop by. Authentic Italian cuisine with an ambience that cannot be surpassed in terms of cosiness. One of my absolute favorite Italian restaurants in the world. Bravo <3

Popped in for a glass of vino and something to eat. What a great find. Service was excellent and attentive. The food was fantastic, we went for a charcuterie board wash down with a lovely rioja.

Great location, close to Waverley station and Royal Mile. Nice wines. Great pastas and other dishes too. Not too crazy about their pizza however.

Excellent service, flavor, and very helpful, we must take into account that all businesses close early in this place and it is important to arrive on time and not late to enjoy everything. Empathy with people is important, the waiters speak several languages, or at least the ones we spoke to. And especially excellent if you make a reservation since it is always full.

We really enjoyed eating here. They have a nice small menu of things they do extremely well. I had the special, which was sea bass with gnocchi in a bacon, mushroom, thyme sauce. It was incredibly delicious and a huge portion. The wife loved the seafood linguine , with perfectly cooked pasta. The tirimisu was the perfect end to a wonderful meal with wonderful service. I highly recommend this place.

There is a very interesting story about why I gave this restaurant such a low rating. I ate at this restaurant with one friend, it was our second visit to Edinburgh, we are Asian, the people who served us were very polite and made me feel very good, the food was nothing special and I can say was OK but not amazing. However, I felt very good and grateful to the waiter's friendly attitude. At the time of checkout, we asked both of us to split the bill. We saw that there was already a service charge on the bill, so we happily finished the bill and planned to leave. At this time, my friend found a very interesting thing, she told me that I found the store charged us more than one pound. The bill comes to 46.13 and each person pays 23.065. But he charged us 23.65 each, which means he overcharged us by a total of £1.17. This is the second time we have met such a thing in Edinburgh, we have also met it in another restaurant before, quietly charging more than one pound, the guests will not notice, if it is not a friend who has had such an experience, maybe we will rarely notice such things happen, pay attention to the figure on the bill. So I directly told the shop waitress that he made a mistake in his account, overcharged us and got back one pound. I believe the shop waitress will probably argue that they made a mistake accidentally, but my friends and I don't think so. This city has an ancient culture and beautiful architecture. People treat the tourists as fools and it's a bad influence on the city, that’s a shame!

A superb suggestion from a local brought us here. Just a quick drop off unfortunately. However the food and wine were very memorable. We just had some small plates, but they were big on flavour and quality. The small mushroom ravioli was full of umami earthiness and large size for a small dish.the scallops with black pudding and peas puree was equally delicious and generous. A really broad wine list covering most of the bases allowed us a gruned veltliner and valpolicello ripasso that washed down the dishes perfectly. Staff were attentive as required, and a perfect central location. Well done. Will certainly be back.

It was okay, is the best description. We did not have a reservation and appreciated still getting a seat on a busy evening. One waiter was very welcoming and talkative and gave us a nice table, service was swift and initially also very nice. By the time we finished eating (the food was decent) and we stayed talking, another waiter 'informed' us that there was a reservation at that table about 15 or 20 minutes from then. When we arrived, the place was pretty empty and by that time, had gotten much fuller. We understood but thought we could still stay another bit, considering we were there at this point. Shortly after, however, he placed the receipt on the table without a word, which signalled clearly they wanted us gone. We understand the administrative necessity for having tables free up for reservations. However, we did not appreciate the approach and packed our things to leave, which unfortunately left quite a bitter taste. We hope this won't be repeated with future customers.

The waiter gave us warm welcome and arranged a table for us quickly. We ordered 4 items: -Soup of the day, broccoli: It’s not a creamy type of soup, instead it’s quite watery. If you are expecting something creamy, think again before choosing this soup . However it’s a heart-warming dish under the cold weather. -the Cheese board 4 different types of cheese, biscuit and bread, rocket leaf, onion jam, with sprinkles of Parmesan cheese. This dish is tasty and the flavor is well balanced. I would recommend this as a starter of the dinner -seafood linguini The linguini itself is fresh and full of flavor, but do not keep the hope high for the seafood. Mussel size is ok. The whole prawn with the head is not fresh enough. I prefer they serve all frozen prawn so to keep the texture crunchy. And they serve only one lonely squid. The flavor is a bit plain I say this is a ok seafood linguini but don’t worth the money£20. -Pinsa Romana This is definitely a must try item. The portion is big enough for 2 people to share. I really like the combination of all the ingredients. All are well balanced and finger licking. Very good !!!

Found Ecco Vino whilst on a short break to Edinburgh with my Aunt. On first visit had mussels excellent and went back the next night and had antipasti and lovely bottle of wine. Service excellent so friendly. Would recommend this lovely wine bar.
