On our last night at Edinburgh we had an amazing dinner at “Ecco Vino”. There is a good variety of wines and the food is delicious. The mussels were divine but the ravioli and the pinsa were equally superb. Christos was amazing, polite and always one step ahead! Also my compliments to the chef;). See you back again soon.

We ate here this evening and found it a cosy and welcoming place to eat. Staff friendly, food very tasty and we got a great wine recommendation. Just what we were looking for!

Now bad food, small portion, overpriced, over-rated, resting on their reputation and location, unfair 12.5% tip added without fair notice (tiny warning on the menu.) This place used to be fantastic, but not anymore. Maybe I came on a bad day. I came here on 18th July 2024 and was very disappointed. The seafood linguine was a comically small portion of pasta, like a tiny amount. I know pasta is supposed to be a small portion, but this was a joke. There was not much seafood either to justify the £21.95. The main problem was it was not even that tasty, it was far too salty.. it just tasted like salt. This usually means the chef smokes cigarettes or does not taste the sauce. This dish used to be delicious, but this time it was terrible. To make matters worse, the waiter did not ask if I wanted to add the 12.5% tip, and this was just added on. Even though the waiter had barely spoken to me and had only delivered a plate of pasta and a drink, I had to pay £3.18 for this privilege. I paid nearly £30 for a bottle of Coke and an incredibly salty, tiny plate of pasta. No longer recommended.

Fantastic wine bar with some of the best fresh seafood & Italian food we’ve ever had in the uk. Enjoyed it so much we ate here twice on our 4 day trip to Edinburgh. The chef works miracles in the tiniest of open view kitchens, a very talented and friendly team. This will be our first call when we’re next back in Edinburgh

I am a huge fan of Italian cuisine and was not disappointed. I am even satisfied with vegetarian options. Finally, something other than risotto or pasta with mushrooms, or basic pasta pomodoro, and, of course, it was delicious. The plate design was eye candy. The personnel was gentle and friendly.

Disappointing Experience We visited this restaurant tonight and, unfortunately, had a disappointing experience. 1. Unprofessional Service: One of the waiters (a man with black hair) was unfriendly and lacked basic courtesy, such as smiling or making us feel welcome. In a tourist-friendly city like Edinburgh, we expected better. 2. Takeaway Incident: After dining in, we ordered some takeaway. When we asked for a bag, the waiter initially handed us a reused supermarket bag, which felt inappropriate for a restaurant setting. After we expressed our concerns, he eventually provided a proper paper bag. 3. Uncomfortable Atmosphere: From the outset, the experience felt unwelcoming. As Asian customers, we sensed a lack of consideration and respect, which left us feeling deeply disappointed. We hope the management takes this feedback seriously and makes improvements to ensure that all guests feel valued and welcomed.

Nice wine, good service, but very average food with a price tag. Dropped in for a glass of wine, decided to get some antipasti. Extremely disappointed with what we were presented for £20. The toilets stank. Can't fault the service, but definitely taking advantage of location/potential tourists.

We had mussels and seafood linguine - two of our favourites so plenty to compare to over the years - and the food here was excellent. Booking recommended, we were lucky with a walk in. Freshest and tastiest sea food I have ever had. I got the salmon with roasted potatoes served with a leek sauce and my partner got the mixed seafood platter. Both were absolutely delicious! 10/10. Second time coming here and definitely not the last, great service from Chris made us feel very welcome and provided us with a great experience. Food was prepared by Scott and this man is a magician in the kitchen, great service great food.

Ecco Vino is a true gem in Edinburgh! I had the sea bass, and it was absolutely fantastic. The skin was perfectly crispy, and the fish was tender and full of flavor. The vegetables, especially the broccolini, were cooked just right – fresh and seasoned to perfection. The roast potatoes had a nice crunch on the outside and were soft inside, making the whole dish come together wonderfully. The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, a fantastic experience! I highly recommend this place if you're looking for quality seafood in a relaxed setting. I’ll definitely be returning!

We found Ecco Vino on our first night in Edinburgh and ate there 3 of 4 nights we spent in the city because we liked it that much. Menu is not extensive and space is limited but what the chef does, he does very well. The restaurant has a good everyday wine selection, daily specials, and a very friendly and helpful staff. We highly recommend.

Their wines, wine plate and mussels are great. The atmosphere is nice. The service is polite, fast and friendly.

My mum is visiting me and we had her birthday dinner at this little gem. Incredible evening, fantastic food and very accommodating with my diary allergy. The ambiance is lovely and warm. The staff is very welcoming, lovely and knowledgeable. The birthday girl had the most wonderful evening and definitely felt all the warmth and hospitality from the staff. 10/10 a must to visit and enjoy the wonderful dishes and gorgeous selection of wines. The Pinsa Romana was excellent. The service was very fast. The restaurant has a great atmosphere.

In our opinion, clearly worth 5 stars. Very tasty, friendly, courteous service, nice atmosphere. Gladly again.

AVOID IF YOU ARE ASIAN. They just don't like our faces here. 1. We waited for more than 5 minutes while there was clearly lots tables available and the waiter was simply on his phone the whole time we were waiting. 2. My girlfriend wanted to order a bottle of wine so we asked our waiter for recommendations, how they taste like etc. He was just impatient the whole time and simply replied "Oh it's chardonnay.". Well I guess I can read it myself, no? 3. No one gave us any water until a waitress saw us playing around with our empty glasses and finally poured some water for us. 4. Unlike the folks next table who got asked if they wanted some pepper on their pasta when it's served. No one asked us anything and we had to ask for it. And then our impatient waiter came, took EXACTLY 2 grinds and left like it's a waste of his time.

One of the best places for an evening meal in Edinburgh. I tried six other places during our holiday and this was in the top two. Very passable seafood linguine, very friendly waiters and excellent service. Reasonable value. Nice atmosphere, great location.

We both had the Sea Bass and smoked haddock chowder which was outstanding! Absolutely done perfectly.

This was my favorite restaurant in Edinburg. The atmosphere was friendly and casual and the service was wonderful. The wine selection was impressive. I took the advice of our server and had the seafood linguini which was marvelous. I was with friends who had the soup on the day, mussels, the sea bass special, scallops appetizer, and all was wonderful. The linguini was homemade and fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. We finished our meal with tiramisu and lemon tarts which were really delicious as well. I suspect you just can’t go wrong with any selection. We all thought it was our best meal in Edinburg and thought the price was reasonable too. This restaurant is highly recommended.

I had an amazing experience at this Italian restaurant! The service here is top-notch—attentive, friendly, and professional. My wife and I came here from Belgium as tourists and while we were wondering where to eat, we came across this place. The waiters are friendly and respectful. A very warm family atmosphere is provided. The prices are pretty good and the food tastes pretty good too. If I come to this city again, I'm sure I'll eat here again!

Unfortunately I can’t give the best review because I got seafood poisoning from the mussels here and have only just fully recovered after antibiotics. Funnily enough it was my birthday early August in the evening. It was definitely after eating from here as I was violently sick 2 hours later and was visiting Edinburgh for the 1st time and found it extremely hard to get home as I was constantly puking. Which lasted a few days. Lovely staff but I think kitchen staff need to be aware. It got pretty serious. P.s. I can’t seem to reply to the message sent by the Ecco vino (owner) thanks for replying; but just to let you know I think it must be another person that emailed you about also getting food poisoning on that night; as that isn’t my name and I haven’t sent an email.

Like many restaurants in Edinburgh, as soon as they see children they say there's no room. Despite the empty tables inside. Last night to be able to eat a meal we wandered on foot for 2 hours... with a 15 year old boy and a 7 year old. No comment to the restaurateurs, no comment to the city, no comment to the famous Scottish hospitality. The great thing is that in all the places, and in this one too, there is a sign hanging stating that children aged 5 and over can only enter to eat... (and God forbid)... but in reality they barely see children they make excuses. Shame!

Sea food is delicious and affordable. But the feeling remains that you are being cheated on the price of a glass of wine.

Tried their seafood linguine and i liked the freshness of the seafood - prawns, mussels & squid. Their wine selection is wide so for sure you'll find your preference. In-house tiramisu is simple and authentic to taste. Highly recommend!

Food was quite good. Mushroom risotto and penne with pear and tellaggio were tasty. Service was choppy, with poor communication as we were seated promptly, but left waiting at table to be waited on while nearby tables seated after is were taken care of. Once we flagged someone down this was addressed, but after we received our food we were not checked in on until we flagged someone down for our bill. So food and wine, good. Service so so. Hopefully that can be addressed as the place has a very nice vibe.

Very small space, but the staff was friendly and the food was great! We were there in Early March- hubby had a pasta dish, best mussels I've ever had sooo fresh.

Terrible! Poor Service, long wait between ordering and delivery of food for not many people in restaurant. The waiter didn't even ask if we wanted a drink instead only wanted to take our food order The food arrived, calamari was well over cooked and like rubber bands. The prawns were like rubber well over cooked and both not edible . We ordered the seafood platter (£32 small) was meant to include either fish or Scallops. The Seafood platter contained neither, and the food was not hot. The bread was not fresh either. The staff was low attendance and never asked us how things were. The couple in the table next to us overheard our complaint and they also ordered the Seafood Plater and had the same issue, Calamari was over cooked rubber with no fish or Scallops. We did complain about the food at the end a refused to pay the service charge. The restaurant deducted 15% off the meal, but in reality it should have been 50% off. We will Never again be dining at Ecco Vino, Cockburn Street Edinburgh.

It has a very pleasant and pleasant place. The wine I drank was great and the pasta I ate was good, although not very different. The location is already in the center of the city. If the weather was nice, eating outside would be even more enjoyable. I would also like to thank Mr. Tolga, one of the employees, for his interest and concern.

We've been before and love the food (excellent) but were rushed through dinner and hurried along when we asked about dessert. Pre 6pm. Restaurant 75% empty but told the table was needed in 5 min so we left. Make sure you book. Even in a rainstorm before dinner time.

Popped in for a glass of vino and something to eat. What a great find. Service was excellent and attentive. The food was fantastic, we went for a charcuterie board wash down with a lovely rioja.

Great location, close to Waverley station and Royal Mile. Nice wines. Great pastas and other dishes too. Not too crazy about their pizza however.
